[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS] (Choice Band)

Move this to Other Option:
- Superpower is also an option to OHKO Munchlax, Lickilicky, Miltank, and most Klang.
- Knock Off can be used over Toxic since it is nice to annoy an Alomomola, Tangela, or Frillish switch-in, and also kills Shedinja, Pokemon that Kingler cannot beat. Toxic has, however, more utility.
Superpower doesn't offer any coverage outside of getting the OHKO on Pokemon that are already easily 2HKO by Crabhammer, while Knock Off really doesn't offer as much support as Toxic, so they should be in OO.

- Kingler also appreciates paralysis support from Pokemon like Musharna or Liepard. Musharna is particularly useful for being able to provide Kingler with a slow Baton Pass as well.
Just mention Musharna honestly, Liepard doesn't offer much support for Kingler outside of Thunder Wave.
- Dragon-types like Altaria and Zweilous cover Kingler's weaknesses to Grass and Electric nicely.
I would personally mention Fraxure over Altaria, since it likes the support Kingler gives by destroying walls for Fraxure, allowing it to set up later in the game to sweep. Maybe ditch Zweilous too, but might leave that to the other.

- Kingler cannot take Special moves, so a Pokémon with great special bulk like Audino or the aforementioned Musharna are good. This Pokémon can even use Heal Bell to aid Kingler.
I would remove this. Most of the partners that you mention can all take an Electric- and Grass-type move, and most of the time you really don't need a dedicated special walls (especially on a more offensive team, which Choice Band Kingler will be more useful.)

- Pairing Kingler with Samurott is also a good idea as they can weaken each other's counters, but an answer to fast Grass- and Electric-type Pokémon then becomes a must.
- Ludicolo is also a good offensive partner.
Mention those two together. Most Water-types have the same checks or counters, meaning if one of them can wear their checks down, the other Water-type could easily finish it off and sweep. Choice Band Kingler being the one wearing down those checks, allowing Samurott or Ludicolo to set up and sweep!

Also mention Roselia as a good partner. Roselia can easily take any Electric- and Grass-type move and set up entry hazards to support Kingler, and can also easily beat Alomomola and Tangela by itself, which can stop Kingler from using its STAB.

[Checks and Counters]

- Many Grass-types like Tangela and Vileplume, have an easy time with Kingler, as they can take a hit and OHKO with Giga Drain regaining their lost health.
- Serperior can't take a X-Scissor but it outspeeds and OHKOes Kingler with Giga Drain.
- Leafeon's amazing Defense makes it hard for Kingler to beat it if it hasn't used Agility and Swords Dance yet.
Mention all those Grass-types together. ex: Most Grass-types have an easy time to beat Kingler; Vileplume and Tangela can easily take a hit and OHKO back with their STAB, while Serperior and Leafeon can easily outspeed Kingler if it didn't get a boost and OHKO with their STAB. Also remove any mention of Agility + Swords Dance please!

Implement this Alonsoforever , and I'll stamp :)

[Overview]
 • Remove the second point since it's the same case with basically everything. Instead, you should point out how its poor bulk makes it difficult to set up, since it has like ~0 switch-in opportunities and gets easily revenge killed.
[SET COMMENTS] (SubSD)
- This Kingler is a nice wallbreaker as it has an easy time setting up on most defensive Pokemon thanks to Substitute and decent Speed.
 • This really isn't true, Alomomola and Metang are like the only two things in the meta it can actually set up on while practically every other wall 2HKOes it. Just say how it can threaten something out, nab a boost, and potentially sweep.
[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS] (SubSD)
 • Also mention Leftovers here to let Kingler potentially set up more Subs, but it generally doesn't really need to.
[Checks and Counters]
 • I'd honestly rather you not mention Metang at all, since it's setup fodder for the SubSD and all it can do is Toxic to the CB set, and Crabhammer hurts. Just mention Alomomola in that bullet.
Implement this Alonsoforever , and I'll check again later.

Nice, thanks again. Will write it as soon as I can.

EDIT: Ok, just want to say that this week I am really busy at university, I'll start the write-up on Friday or at the weekend.

I know I already checked this, but you could mention in the SC for SubSD that Sub also prevents Scarfers from revenge killing you. Also I'd actually prefer if Jolly was the nature since it outspeeds everything up to Adamant Scarf Braviary.

You can probably mention it in AC unless there are any significant KOes that Adamant gets, which I'm not aware of.

Choice Band should stick to Adamant, right, or a mention of Jolly should be there because of the same that happens with the Sub SD set? C'mon, this has been here for so long, since September, and I wrote it quite a long time ago.

Yes to keeping Adamant on CB, CB Kingler's primary goal is a wallbreaker so the power is necessary. Jolly probably deserves AC though.

Also sry that we've been taking forever but as you can probably tell the forum is mostly dead atm (and WhiteDMist quit ;_;). While I'm here though you should probably get rid of the Scolipede mention in the last sentence of SubSD's AC, since it got banned.

read this over, I have no issues sending this to GP. 3/3 good work!

wait: add some examples of checks to c&c, like scarf rotom-s and rotom-f!

[Overview]

While Kingler's extraordinary Attack stat may might make you think it is one of the most fearsome Pokemon in NU, it certainly isn't. This is because it has many flaws that don't allow it to perform well in the current NU metagame. First of all, its bulk is awful, especially on the special side, and this makes it very hard for Kingler to switch in or set up. Furthermore, its Speed is not good high enough, so many offensive Pokemon can easily check Kingler, making use of its bad bulk to outspeed and OHKO it. To make matters worse, while Sheer Force is a great ability, it is a waste in Kingler, as it doesn't learn Waterfall. Kingler also faces competion from Samurott, who has much better bulk and isn't as predictable as Kingler, and Carracosta, who has a much easier time setting up; these two have prority priority Aqua Jet as well. Not all is bad news for Kingler, though, as its high Attack stat makes it hard to switch into, and its Speed, while not very good, is enough to outspeed many walls and some threats like Seismitoad or Ludicolo,(AC) letting Kingler severely damage them via a Choice Band or Swords Dance-boosted attacks.

[SET]
name: Substitute + Swords Dance
move 1: Substitute
move 2: Swords Dance
move 3: Crabhammer
move 4: Return / X-Scissor
item: Salac Berry / Lum Berry
ability: Hyper Cutter
nature: Jolly
evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd

[SET COMMENTS]

With this set, Kingler becomes a decent wallbreaker that can threaten an opposing Pokemon out, set up, and potentially sweep. Substitute plays a very important role in this set,(AC) as it lets Kingler set up against walls such as Alomomola and Metang as well as avoid status that could be very detrimental for it. It also prevents Kingler form from being revenge-killed revenge killed by faster threats and Choice Scarf users. Crabhammer is Kingler's STAB move,(RC) and the only viable move it can use,(AC) as it doesn't learn Waterfall. While it doesn't have perfect accuracy and is not boosted by Sheer Force, it is a very powerful move with a nice critical hit rate. For the last slot,(AC) both Return and X-Scissor are good options as both have nice coverage with Crabhammer. Return provides Kingler with a strong and reliable move against most foes that resist or are immune to Crabhammer, while X-Scissor, even though it is weaker, lets Kingler heavily damage Musharna and many Grass-types, especially after a Swords Dance.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

A Salac Berry gives Kingler a chance to sweep; Kingler can be really hard to stop at +2 Attack and +1 Speed. It can be activated just by just using Substitute three times. On the other hand, a Lum Berry is also a good option, as it lets Kingler switch in on Pokemon like Alomomola without fearing status. A Life Orb can also be used, as it gives Kingler a lot of power. Coupled with Stealth Rock damage and an Adamant nature, it allows Kingler to at least 2HKO almost every Pokemon in the tier, and get some important OHKOs such as on standard Mandibuzz, Misdreavus, and Musharna. However, Substitute + Life Orb damage reduce Kingler's lifespan considerably. Finally, Leftovers is also an option, as it lets Kingler set up more Substitutes, but this isn't really necessary. A Jolly nature is preferred as it allows Kingler to outspeed Swellow and Choice Scarf Adamant Braviary at +1 Speed, and as well as Adamant Sawk, Adamant Braviary, and positive-natured Ludicolo and Samurott without boosts.

Kingler appreciates having partners that can deal with Grass- and Electric-types, since these Pokemon can easily OHKO Kingler it. Camerupt makes a good partner for Kingler as it can beat Grass- and Electric-types with its STAB moves,(RC) and can also set up Stealth Rock. Pivot Musharna and Probopass can take many moves from faster foes that threaten Kingler, spread paralysis, and ease Kingler's set up via a slow Baton Pass and Volt Switch, respectively. LumRest Exeggutor can beat most Grass-types in the tier with ease, not fearing status and taking little damage from their hits, making it an ideal partner. Finally, removing the removal of Toxic Spikes is very important for Kingler, because they can make Substitute pointless and if Kingler is poisoned Alomomola will then beat Kingler make Kingler much more susceptible to being walled by more threats, such as Alomomola. Garbodor and Roselia can do this and set up their own entry hazards as well.

[SET]
name: Choice Band
move 1: Crabhammer
move 2: X-Scissor
move 3: Double-Edge
move 4: Toxic
item: Choice Band
ability: Hyper Cutter
nature: Adamant
evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd

[SET COMMENTS]

A Choice Band gives Kingler immediate power, it lets helping Kingler get past many walls and do heavy damage without having to set up.(+Period) , and get past many walls. (phrasing) Crabhammer is Kingler's strongest STAB move, and when boosted by Choice Band,(AC) it at least 2HKOes any Pokemon that doesn't resist it. (you can assume that 2HKO encompasses OHKO as well.) It 2HKOes physically defensive Mandibuzz and Weezing just with Stealth Rock support, and even Pokemon that resist it the attack, such as Serperior, won't enjoy taking it. X-Scissor has good coverage with Crabhammer and allows Kingler to cleanly 2HKO Musharna.(+Period) and has good coverage with Crabhammer. Double-Edge is a much more powerful move that also has good coverage with Crabhammer, and is Kingler's most reliable move against Water-, Grass-(+Hyph.) / Poison-(+Hyph.) and Dragon-type Pokemon. It is a guaranteed 2HKO on physically defensive Seismitoad with just with one layer of Spikes and physically defensive Vileplume with Stealth Rock support, which is quite a feat considering the fact that Double-Edge isn't boosted by STAB. Finally, Toxic is the best option for the last slot, as Kingler doesn't need more coverage and Toxic heavily greatly annoys common switch-ins like such as Alomomola, Tangela, or and Mandibuzz, putting them on a timer.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

An Adamant nature is used because this set is used to break walls, so and Kingler appreciates all the power it can get. A Jolly nature can also be used to outspeed Adamant Sawk, Adamant Braviary, Ludicolo, and Samurott, but the loss of power would will be noticeable. Return can be used if Double-Edge recoil is annoying, as Kingler's low HP makes it unable to take a large amount of recoil damage. means Double-Edge takes a lot of its health. However, Kingler really appreciates the power of Double-Edge to beat threats such as Vileplume and Seismitoad. As for good partners for this set, Musharna is a great one.(+Period) , as Kingler also appreciates paralysis support from it. Musharna can provide Kingler with a slow Baton Pass and support it with paralysis, which Kingler really appreciates. as well. Pairing Kingler with Samurott or Ludicolo is also a good idea as Kingler can weaken their counters, letting them other finish off the game. Dragon-types like such as Fraxure and Zweilous cover Kingler's weaknesses to Grass- and Electric-type attacks nicely. Fraxure can also make use of Kingler's ability to damage walls to set up and sweep. LumRest Exeggutor makes a great partner for Kingler, due to its ability to beat many Grass- and Water-type Pokemon. Roselia is also a very good partner for Kingler, being able to set up entry hazards, take Electric- and Grass-type attacks aimed at Kingler, and deal with Alomomola and Tangela.

[Other Options]

Using both Agility and Swords Dance make Kingler a very threatening sweeper,(AC) but it must set up first, which is a ... once it sets up, and that's the problem as it's very hard for Kingler to set up both moves both up due to its poor bulk. If it only sets Agility up it will lack power, and if it gets to use Swords Dance it will be easily outsped and KOed before it can do anything. This strategy is not to be dismissed, however, as using both boosting moves at the same time is the only way Kingler can be more devastating, (don't know if this is true but you seem to imply it, so if you are, then you need to clarify) but it is a really high risk, high reward strategy that is very difficult to execute. A set consisting of Agility and three attacks can be used as Kingler outspeeds many Pokemon, including Choice Scarf users, after an Agility boost, and can finish a game. A Choice Scarf can be used to patch Kingler's Speed, but it is still outsped by every common Choice Scarf user, and it doesn't pack as much power as the other sets. A Normal Gem can be used in conjunction with Double-Edge to get a really powerful move that OHKOes offensive Ludicolo, and also OHKOes Vileplume,(AC) and has a great chance to OHKO physically defensive Seismitoad at +2; by using these gimmicky strategy strategies, Kingler can lure one of its counters in and net a surprise KO on it, making this good for other offensive Water-types that like having these Pokemon counters KOed or severely damaged.

As for other moves, Superpower is an okay acceptable option to heavily damage Munchlax, Lickilicky, Miltank, and Klang;(+SemiC),(RC) however, it doesn't offer much coverage, and these threats are already hit hard by Crabhammer. Knock Off is a decent support option to annoy an Alomomola, Tangela, or Frillish switch-in, and also kills Shedinja, but Toxic has, overall, more utility. Sheer Force is a good ability, but Kingler cannot exploit it (sadly,(AC) it doesn't learn Waterfall...(-Ellipses)), as its only boosted move would be Rock Slide, which is not worth a slot and doesn't get any important KOs. Sheer Force-boosted Ice Beam 2HKOes Tangela, but otherwise it's a terrible option, as Kingler's Special Attack is really bad. Finally, Hone Claws can be used over Swords Dance as it improves Crabhammer's accuracy, but Kingler really appreciates the power Swords Dance provides.

[Checks and Counters]

Kingler is very difficult to directly counter due to its power,(AC) making :(-Colon) switching in on a Crabhammer without being immune to it is not easy very difficult. The odd Frillish makes a great counter, as it is immune to both Crabhammer and Return and resists X-Scissor. It can burn Kingler with Will-o-Wisp, rendering it almost useless, or damage it with Night Shade, which breaks Kingler's Substitutes. It should be noted that Frillish is not a common sight in the current NU metagame. Most Grass-types have an easy time with Kingler; Vileplume and Tangela can easily take a hit and OHKO back with Giga Drain, regaining the health they may have lost, while Serperior and Leafeon can outspeed Kingler if it didn't get a boost and OHKO it with their STAB moves. Weezing or and Misdreavus can burn it if it hasn't set up, or 2HKO it with Sludge Bomb and Shadow Ball, respectively. Physically Defensive Seismitoad is immune to Crabhammer and can hit Kingler with its STAB Earth Power. Alomomola can take Kingler's attacks and poison it, but it is set-up setup fodder for the SubSD set. Kingler hates status of all kinds, especially paralysis and burn. They make it much easier to handle.

While Kingler is hard to counter, checking it is a different story. In general, Pokemon faster than Kingler can just outspeed and KO Kingler with little prior damage due to its poor bulk. Also, and most Choice Scarf users, especially those that use special attacks,(RC) such as Rotom-S and Rotom-F, can check Kingler as well, despite the fact that while they cannot directly switch in on an a Kingler's attack.(+Period) , can just outspeed and KO Kingler with little prior damage due to its poor bulk.
(run on sentence)

Great work, Alonsoforever! You have excellent prose and there were very few grammatical errors.

GP 1/2

Thanks Electrolyte ! Most changes made. There are a few of them I wanted to ask you about:

Double-Edge is a much more powerful move that also has good coverage with Crabhammer, and is Kingler's most reliable move against Water-, Grass-(+Hyph.) / Poison-(+Hyph.) and Dragon-type Pokemon.
That is wrong, look at this:

 • Dealing with dual typings is a bit trickier. When a dual type name is directly followed by the word "type," a hyphen should not be used (Rock / Ground type). When saying that a Pokemon has "some dual typing," it is never hyphenated as well (Golem's Rock / Ground typing was a godsend in RBY OU.).

This strategy is not to be dismissed, however, as using both boosting moves at the same time is the only way Kingler can be more devastating, (don't know if this is true but you seem to imply it, so if you are, then you need to clarify)
This one is complicated because I have trouble expressing what I mean. Here what I mean is that that setting up both boosting moves is the way Kingler can be more devastating, but it is a very risky strategy, and while I listed flaws of using only one of the two moves, I didn't want to imply that if Kingler only gets to use one move, it is useless or something like that. You are right, saying that of before it can do anything is very pessimistic, I wrote it this way, tell me how you see it:

"Using both Agility and Swords Dance make Kingler a very threatening sweeper, but it must set up first, which is a problem as it's very hard for Kingler to set up both moves due to its poor bulk. If it only sets Agility up it will lack power to break through sturdy walls, and if it gets to use Swords Dance it will be outsped and KOed by faster offensive Pokemon. This strategy is not to be dismissed, however, as using both boosting moves at the same time is the way Kingler can be more devastating, but it is a really high risk, high reward strategy that is very difficult to execute."

...A Normal Gem can be used in conjunction with Double-Edge to get a really powerful move that OHKOes offensive Ludicolo, and also OHKOes Vileplume,(AC) and has a great chance to OHKO physically defensive Seismitoad at +2; by using these gimmicky strategy strategies, Kingler can lure one of its counters in and net a surprise KO on it, making this good for other offensive Water-types that like having these Pokemon counters KOed or severely damaged.

I can't correct the first sentence that way, because what I mean is that it OHKOes offensive Ludicolo without a Swords Dance boost, and the other two after a Swords Dance boost. Also, when I say strategy in singular, it is because I only mean the Normal Gem + Double-Edge one.

Thanks again!, I really appreciate what you said because for me it is hard to write up in good English.

The odd Frillish makes a great counter, as it is immune to both Crabhammer and Return,[add] and resists X-Scissor. It Frillish can burn Kingler with Will-o-Wisp, rendering it almost useless, or damage it with Night Shade, which breaks Kingler's Substitutes. Weezing and Misdreavus can burn it Kingler if it hasn't set up, or 2HKO it with Sludge Bomb and Shadow Ball, respectively. Physically defensive Seismitoad is immune to Crabhammer and can hit Kingler hard with its STAB Earth Power. Alomomola can take Kingler's attacks and poison it, but it is setup fodder for the SubSD Substitute + Swords Dance set. Kingler hates status of all kinds, especially paralysis and burn. They make it much easier to handle.

While Kingler is hard to counter, checking it is a different story. In general, Pokemon faster than Kingler can just outspeed and KO Kingler with little prior damage due to its poor bulk. Also, most Choice Scarf users, especially those that use special attacks such as Rotom-S and Rotom-F, can check Kingler as well, despite the fact that they cannot directly switch in on an attack.
