We don't have it explicitly written down, but note the combo priority part of the handbook, where it clearly distinguishes between damaging/evasive and charge-up, which is why some combos can technically have three different priorities (A charge phase, and evade phase, and an attack phase).

"My my my! This round was full of damage!"

"CAAAW! Brave Bird Takeover in this bitch! Finally some real action happens in this battle, as each side has chipped off approximately 20% of the teams total HP, doing about 50+ damage to each side here. Timburr gets two really strong Sheer Force boosted Poison Jabs on the cheek and a Dig to keep the damage lead, but Spritzee showed that the damage lead is minimal when two Moonblasts can do about the same amount of damage, and she managed to put up the Misty Terrain that she needed. That is going to be huge going forward since status effects won't exist for 3 more rounds. Let's see how Texas chooses to deal with this matchup, knowing that the Spritzee can hit like a truck!"
