Overview
########

  • Lopunnny got a Mega Evolution in ORAS, increasing its Attack, Speed, and Defense while giving it a Fighting typing and the ability Scrappy
  • Access to unresisted, high power STABs thanks to Scrappy and its new typing
  • Has a great Speed and good Attack stat
  • Good support options in Fake Out and Encore
  • Doesn't have the greatest bulk
  • Receives competition from Mega Kangaskhan as a Fake Out user with considerable power
  • Struggles with Intimidate

Fake Out Support
########
name: Fake Out
move 1: Fake Out
move 2: Return
move 3: Low Kick / High Jump Kick
move 4: Encore / Protect
ability: Limber
item: Lopunnite
evs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
nature: Jolly

Moves
========

  • Fake Out immobilizes an opposing Pokemon for a turn and allows it to freely get a speed boost upon Mega Evolving
  • Return is a high-powered, reliable STAB
  • Low Kick has high power against Super Effective targets like Tyranitar and Heatran, but is unreliable
  • High Jump Kick is very powerful, but has recoil upon missing + mispredicting a Protect
  • Encore can lock the opponent into a status move like Substitute or Protect, making them useless
  • Protect allows it to scout and stall out opposing conditions like Rain, Trick Room, and Tailwind
Set Details
========
  • Max speed to tie with Mega Manectric and outspeed Shaymin-S and Mega Gengar
  • Adamant could be used for extra power, you lose out on the above targets but you still outspeed base 115's and below
  • Max attack to allow it to hit as hard as possible
  • Lopunnite allows it to Mega Evolve
  • Limber is used to switch into Thunder Wave
Usage Tips
========

  • Lopunny is best played as a lead so it can support the team with Fake Out and get the Mega Evolution speed increase
  • Fake Out is a safe move to use on the first turn, allowing you to Mega Evolve and give your partner a free turn
  • If the opponent Protects to dodge Fake Out damage, Encore them into it
  • High Jump Kick is safe to use on Encore-locked Pokemon
  • Otherwise, be cautious of using it
  • Try not to switch in to any attacks
Team Options
========

  • Fake Out + Encore can be used to buy free turns, so a set up sweeper like Belly Drum Azumarill pairs well with it
  • Rock- and Ice-types, such as Tyranitar and Weavile, beat the Flying-types that harm Lopunny and Lopunny beats the Steel-types that threaten them
  • Steel-types, such as Ferrothorn, can take out Fairy-types
  • Fairy- and Flying-types take care of opposing Fighting-types and Lopunny beats the Steel-types that wall them.
  • Defiant and Competitive, such as Bisharp and Milotic, fend off Intimidate, which decreases Lopunny's attacking power. The former has a resistance to Flying, an immunity to Psychic, and can beat opposing Fairy-types with its Steel STAB move.
Other Options
########

  • Ice Punch can be used to nail Landorus-T and OHKO Shaymin-S
  • Drain Punch can be used for a reliable Fighting STAB, but it is generally too weak
  • Power-Up Punch is an option alongside redirection to sweep thanks to the unresisted coverage
Checks & Counters
########
  • **Intimidate and Burns** Common Intimidators, such as Landorus-T and Gyarados, lower Lopunny's Attack and are not 2HKO'd by any of its STABs.
  • **Speed** Deoxys-A can outspeed and OHKO Lopunny with Psycho Boost and Talonflame can knock it out with a +1 priority Brave Bird.
  • **Strong Attackers** Lopunny does not have the best uninvested bulk, so anything that can take a hit from it and retaliate with a strong neutral or super effective attack can cripple it.
  • **Typing Advantage** Landorus-T can switch into all of Lopunny's attacks barring Ice Punch, making it a reliable check. Pokemon like Jirachi, Togekiss, Amoonguss, and Rotom-W can switch into any of its attacks and threaten Lopunny with status.
  • **Speed Control** A big selling point of Lopunny's is its speed, and Thunder Waving or setting up Trick Room on it severely decreases its effectiveness.

"tomorrow" noice

in OO you could mention power-up punch alongside redirection to get a ton of boosts, and if running jolly, it'll outspeed an amazing amount of shit and be an absolute stud at +2 or +3, then rocket off those boosted STAB Returns. what resists this monster!? tossing fire/ice punch or (high) jump kick in the last slot means nothing will. worth a mention imo.

i'll say more when you write your checks and counters

ok lol finished and ready for qc, sorry about taking so long

i gave power up punch a mention, sounds pretty nifty alongside amoong or something. thunder/fire punch seem kind of lame though (idk what fire punch even hits and gyara isnt nearly as common as landot). thanks for the suggestions though n_n

fire punch hits (mega) scizor more reliably than the kicks, as well as amoonguss, ferrothorn, skymin, and (mega) metagross

just calced those. return hits amoonguss harder, kicks hit ferro harder, either kick hits metagross harder. the only thing it hits harder is scizor and i wouldnt really ever give up a slot for that :S

edit: return hits skymin harder and if you really wanted to hit that you can use ice punch

Overview
  • Strugs with Intimidate everywhere+no reliable way to boost its attack
Usage Tips
  • Try not to switch into anything
Luks fine sorry for the wait

Aegislash should probs be on here somewhere, as even though it gets hit very hard, Lopunny doesn't want to attack into KS.
