Would you guys be interested if I had MFA include Gen 8 mons when it comes out?

I was gonna abstain from voting like I did the last 2 slates, but barely anyone voted, so I'll add my votes in for more opinions.

Electivire
1. Isa Simple
2. MaceMaster
3. WTCO

Magmortar
1. Isa Simple
2. MaceMaster
3. Yoshiblaze

Tangrowth
1. Ludicrousity
2. Yoshiblaze
3. Coolman6001

Slate Idea: I was gonna do the Counterparts thing again, but Ludi did that for me, so I second that.

Ok time for me to announce the results for this weeks slates so here are the winners for this week!

Mega Tangrowth
Ability:
Wonder Skin
Typing: Grass/Bug
HP: 100 (+0)
Attack: 130 (+30)
Defense: 115 (-10)
Special Attack: 115 (+5)
Special Defense: 70 (+20)
Speed: 105 (+55)
New Move: Pin Needle
Description: Tangrowth's vines form several "legs" making it resemble a spider. Tangrowth is still very bulky, but also becomes pretty speedy. Wonder Skin makes status an unreliable way of dealing with it. Typically used as an SD sweeper.

Electivire-Mega
Ability: Motor Drive ----> Contrary
Typing: Electric / Fighting

Stats:

HP: 75 ----> 75
Attack: 123 ----> 153
Defense: 67 ----> 67
Special Attack: 95 ----> 125
Special Defense: 85 ----> 115
Speed: 95 ----> 105
Base Stat Total: 540 ----> 640
Movepool Additions: None
Description: However Contrary is higher than Electivire's ability restriction, I think you'll find it is balanced given that the only stat Electivire can boost independently is its speed, via it's new STAB, Hammer Arm. Also however 153/125 offences may appear scary, you'll actually find that without Life Orb Mega Electivire is actually weaker both physically and specially. Though STAB Hammer Arm from Electivire-Mega hits exactly as hard as LO Electivire's Wild Charge. What makes Mega Electivire really strong is its ability to clean upon acquiring a Speed Boost from Contrary Hammer Arm, being far more efficient then Motor Drive and quickly boosting out of control to unmatched pace. Also having vastly superior coverage thanks to its new Fighting STAB is greatly appreciated. Do also note Contrary's ability to ward away intimidate users, allowing Electivire to punish threats like Landorus-T, killing it with Ice Punch and proceeding to clean. What's also cool is that the unique Electric / Fighting typing gives a great match up vs other prominent threats like Bisharp. What holds Electivire back the most is its still extremely flimsy Defence, meaning you are wiped out by any stray Earthquake coverage from pokemon you can't OHKO, and it's dual STAB and 105 means that Scarf Latios has no problem coming in and OHKOing you with Psyshock even after a Speed Boost from Hammer Arm. Strong priority can also be a problem, especially if you're forced to use Wild Charge a couple times as the recoil stacks up pretty hard. Status ruins you too. But overall still an extremely reliable cleaner that has the potential to be extremely threatening.

Mega Magmortar
Ability: Volcanic Haze (Intimidate clone, lowers Speed one stage)
Type: Fire

Stats:
HP: 75—>75
ATK: 95—>120
DEF: 67—>77
SPA: 125—>175
SPD: 95—>130
SPE: 83—>63

Description: Upon Mega Evolving, Magmortar truly embraces the volcano, drawing upon its fiery strength to attack from longer range, demolishing its foes. The heat it generates from its body is so intense that other Pokémon find it difficult to move. But because of its greater bulk, Mega Magmortar has a harder time moving itself.

The basic idea behind this Mega is that MMag hits ridiculously hard from the special side. Originally I had considered the Intimidate clone lowering Sp.D, but figured that was too powerful.

While it hits hard, it still doesn't have recovery, which would improve Magmortar with its new special bulk. It also doesn't improve much on the physical side, meaning strong Earthquakes are usually enough to drop it. And it's speed drops, meaning that revenge killing it is even easier, if you have a physical mon.

Energy Ball and Earth Power give it more coverage options, but that just increases the amount of moves it wants to run at one time, though it does appreciate the more accurate Earth Power over Focus Blast.

The next slate is going to be Rhyperior, Mienshao and Staraptor,

Rhyperior has an ability limit of 3.5 and is allowed 1 new move

Mienshao has an ability limit of 3.5 and is allowed 2 new moves

Staraptor has an ability limit of 3 and is allowed 1 new move

Mega Rhyperior
Ability:
Solid Rock
Typing: Ground/Rock
HP: 115
Attack: 170 (+30)
Defense: 170 (+40)
Special Attack: 55
Special Defense: 85 (+30)
Speed: 40
New Moves: Slack Off
Description: Mega Rock-type tank, through and through. Most of the boosts go to the defenses, but I improved its Attack too. Rhyperior's movepool is so expansive that there's no attacking option it wants (Head Smash would only be used on non-Mega and Rhydon), but Slack Off makes it unique among Rock/Ground-types as one that can heal if you don't wipe it off the face of the earth with a quad-effective Surf or Grass Knot. Who needs coverage when you have the strongest (itemless) STAB EdgeQuake in the game?

Mega Mienshao
Ability:
Technician
Typing: Fighting
HP: 65
Attack: 125
Defense: 60
Special Attack: 155 (+60)
Special Defense: 70 (+10)
Speed: 135 (+30)
New Moves: Assurance, Vacuum Wave
Description: Most people know of Mienshao for its incredibly powerful STAB High Jump Kicks off base 125 Attack, but it also has a decent 95 Special Attack. This Mega Evolution brings that to the forefront, and while its special movepool is lacking Technician and Vacuum Wave can fix that. Now Vacuum Wave is of the same caliber as Mega Scizor's Bullet Punch, and it can run a 90 BP Hidden Power for coverage! (Grass Knot is also more effective against lighter targets.) That base Attack is still there in the event that you want to go mixed, and it has new options in Low Kick and Assurance thanks to the Technician boosts.

Mega Staraptor
Ability:
Rock Head
Typing: Normal/Flying
HP: 85
Attack: 160 (+40)
Defense: 110 (+40)
Special Attack: 50
Special Defense: 70 (+10)
Speed: 110 (+10)
New Moves: Swords Dance
Description: Normally Staraptor is all about killing one or two things while killing itself, owing to its high-powered Choiced Reckless STAB with Close Combat coverage. This is a bit different, using its physical bulk plus pre-Mega Intimidate to set up and tear through walls. Swords Dance facilitates the sweep (if Fletchling can learn it then so can this) while Rock Head ensures Staraptor won't have to stop its violent feeding frenzy to Roost. 110 Speed is a crowded Speed tier, but Quick Attack can get you around some of them.

I'll add... wait a minute.

So, uh, why is Rhyperior only allowed one new move and Mienshao's allowed two when Mienshao's in a higher tier? Anyways...

Staraptor

Normal/FlyingFighting/Flying

HP: 85 → 85 (0)

Atk: 120 → 170 (+50)

Def: 70 → 80 (+10)

SpA: 50 → 50 (0)

SpD: 60 → 65 (+5)

Spe: 100 → 135 (+35)

Intimidate/RecklessReckless

  • Fighting makes sense since Staraptor naturally learns Close Combat as soon as it evolves
  • Skyhigh attack and good speed make Staraptor a very dangerous physical attacker.

  • Reckless is kept as Staraptor's ability because it pairs so well with its high powered STAB moves that get boosted.

  • Unfortunately, Staraptor is still quite frail, especially in regards to its special bulk, and this in combination the recoil from Brave Bird and Close Combat's defense drops forcing it out a lot means it won't last a long time.

Rhyperior

Ground/Rock Fighting/Rock

HP: 115 → 115 (0)

Atk: 140 → 185 (+45)

Def: 130 → 150 (+20)

SpA: 55 → 75 (+20)

SpD: 55 → 65 (+10)

Spe: 40 → 45 (+5)

Lightning Rod/Solid Rock/Reckless Reckless

New Moves: Head Smash, High Jump Kick*

  • Massive base 185 attack. Great physical and solid special bulk as well.

  • Reckless, once pretty much useless on Rhyperior, now becomes incredible.

  • Head Smash is an amazing new STAB move that seems to be one of those ones that you question why didn't Rhyperior have this already? High Jump Kick is a super powerful STAB move that also gets a Reckless boost.

  • Between Head Smash, High Jump Kick and coverage Earthquake, Rhyperior 2HKO's pretty much every Pokemon after Stealth Rock damage, leaving a moveslot free for additional coverage, a boosting move or a support move.
  • Unfortunately for Rhyperior, it's still incredibly slow. Combine that with Head Smash's huge recoil (as well as its shaky accuracy), potential recoil from a High Jump Kick miss, Rhypeior's lack of recovery and it often doesn't last long.

  • Finally, Rhyperior also has a bad defensive typing that gives it a whopping seven weaknesses, including to common types such as fighting, water, ground and psychic. Even with Rhyperior's very good physical bulk and decent special bulk, it's going to have a hard time switching in.
*I realize that Rhyperior is only allowed one new move, but I figure that with its bad defensive typing (seriously, out of the top ten most commonly used Pokemon in top level OU last month, nine of them can hit Rhyperior super effectively with their STAB moves) and its extremely low speed, Rhyperior's going to die a lot that it won't be OP even with it's great offensive ability.

Mienshao

Fighting Fighting

HP: 65 → 65 (0)

Atk: 125 → 155 (+30)

Def: 60 → 70 (+10)

SpA: 95 → 105 (+10)

SpD: 60 → 70 (+10)

Spe: 105 → 145 (+40)

Inner Focus/Regenerator/Reckless Regenerator

New Moves: Play Rough
  • High speed and attack makes Mienshao a serious offensive threat. It also has a surprisingly good special attack stat that allows it to run HP to counter threats other physical fighting types struggle with.

  • Regenerator allows Mienshao to pivot out with U-Turn, allowing it to recover some the health it loses due to High Jump Kick misses and making it an excellent momentum grabber. I also, personally, gave Reckless to Hitmonlee so this differentiates them a bit.

  • Play Rough is a fun coverage move that doesn't really add a ton of coverage but can be useful against specific targets.
  • Still very, very frail. Regenerator struggles to keep up when Mienshao takes a lot of damage from even resisted hits as well as moves from defensive Pokemon.

Speed: 105 -> 150 (+45)
Ability: Fighting Flurry (Inverse Analytic. If a Pokémon with Fighting Flurry executes its move before the Pokémon it originally targeted has already acted this turn, the power of its move is increased by 30%.)
Move Additions: Play Rough
Description: This Mienshao is fast. and it's not all for show either, with a 150 attack stat and an amazing ability to back them both up. Fighting/Fairy gives great coverage against everything except poison, and a pretty good defensive typing, even if it is about as sturdy as wet paper.

New Move: Drain Punch
Description: With it's new Mega Evolution, Rhyperior brings a brand new typing coupled with an offensive presence rivalled only by the likes of Mewtwo-X and Mega Heracross. Thanks to the excellent combo of Iron Fist and Drain Punch, as well as great 115/145/100 bulk, Mega Rhyperior is also a nightmare to kill due to the recovery that this provides. Flavourwise, Rhyperior builds upon its intimidating stature with the addition of the fighting type, while Iron Fist is reflective of it's impressively bulky and muscular arms.
Despite its godly stats, Rhyperior does suffer from a few flaws. Firstly, it is forced to rely on relatively weak or inaccurate coverage moves to hit several key threats due to the less than optimal STAB typing provided by the mega evolution. Furthermore, Rhyperior suffers from a ridiculously small speed stat, as well as a lack of priority that merely aggravates this issue. The lack of recovery outside of drain punch leaves it rather easy to wear down and is such very prone to residual damage (especially Toxic and Will-O-Wisp).
Overall, Rhyperior is an incredibly strong offensive tank that can punch holes in almost any Pokemon but is held back by its dislike of residual damage and poor speed tier.

I really don't see why we have to have +100 BST... Mega-Alakazam only has 90, why do all these have to have 100?

Also, I feel like we should be allowed to make clones for any ability, as long as it isn't broken. I mean, I did that and got the winning submission (Arcanine). I also gave Mienshao an inverse version of Analytic, and that hasn't been disallowed. If we can make inverse abilities, and clones for pretty much any ability, I feel it should be spoken by a mod. Just pointing this out... :)

Well the abilities that aren't "cloneable" in the OP are simply because they would be too difficult to code. If the person was to provide the code necessary to make a change to an ability it's certainly allowable as one of the council mentioned earlier in the thread.

I meant to add that aswell. Making sure it isn't too far from the original to classify as a brand new ability

Mega Mienshao
Ability: Overcoat
Typing: Fighting / Ice

Stats:
HP: 65 ----> 65
Attack: 125 ----> 145
Defense: 60 ----> 60
Special Attack: 95 ----> 145
Special Defense: 60 ----> 70
Speed: 105 ----> 125
Base Stat Total: 510 ----> 610

Movepool Additions: Ice Punch & Ice Beam.

Description:
I've always imagined Mienshao to appear part ice, due to its long thick fur resembling the winter coat of a stoat, hence being adept at tackling winter and fitting the thematics of an Ice type pokemon. Overcoat has been added to further support the typing flavour wise by allowing Mienshao to take no damage from Hail, though also having more practical uses including immunity to Sandstorm damage and Power Moves such as Spore, Stun Spore, and Sleep Powder. Mienshao's new typing is extremely cool, allowing Mienshao to join Mamoswine as an Ice Type without an SR weakness, and giving it an extremely threatening STAB combination, hitting more pokemon super effectively than not so, however the combination is still walled by multiple ready made OU threats. The movepool additions have of course been added to give physical and special STAB options for the new Ice typing. Mega Mienshao's new offensive stat spread of 145/145/125 is obviously the makings of an extremely threatening attacker, but also a very versatile one. There is a plethora of offensive sets that this Mienshao can run, each with different checks and counters and requiring unique ways to play around. Special all out attacker sets with dual STAB + Grass Knot and Hidden Power Rock to 2HKO Slowbro, Azumaril, Starmie, Volcarona and Victini each respectively. Physical all out attacker sets with dual STAB and a combination of Stone Edge, Poison Jab, Knock Off or U-Turn. Mixed AoA sets, CM 3 Attacks sets, Baton Pass sets with BP + Sub/BU/CM and dual STABs either physical, special or mixed. Mienshao's possibilities stretch for miles, making it a very dangerous mega pokemon to play against, and a very versatile mega pokemon to use, able to fill a large amount of niches. Do be weary of its immense frailty and bunch of weaknesses though.

Time to enter voting phase for these three megas also feel free to suggest slates as well! (Though the next slate is 100% going be some kind of Halloween themed slate)
For those of you that are new you may vote for your top 3 megas for each pokemon in the slate in order. You may not vote for yourself in first place but may vote for yourself for second or third.

The voting phase will last until Thursday.

Here are all the megas made in this slate if your mega isn't on this list please let me know and I'll add it ASAP

Laughing X-naut (All Three)
WTCO (All Three)
Ludicrousity (Mienshao)
Macemaster (All Three)
Coolman6001 (All Three)
iLama (All Three)
Dilasc (Mega Rhyperior)
Isa Simple (Mienshao)

So, uh, why is Rhyperior only allowed one new move and Mienshao's allowed two when Mienshao's in a higher tier?
The move allowance and ability allowances take into account more than just its tier. Rhyperior already has a vast movepool so it doesn't make sense to give it more coverage since that is not its main weakness unlike Mienshao who is in part held back in part by its shallow movepool.

Base Stat Total: 510 ----> 610

Movepool Additions: Psychic, Zen Headbutt

Description: Mienshao has always appeared quite whimsical to me, so I decided it would be a good idea to chuck on the Psychic typing. And obviously, if it is a Psychic type, it's got to have decent Special Attack. I decided to buff it's Special Attack as such. To complement it's new typing, I decided to add Psychic and Zen Headbutt to it's movepool. With either Aura Sphere/Focus Blast and Psychic, or HJK and Zen Headbutt, you can choose whether to run it physical or special. While it doesn't have a ridiculous amount of power, however, it sits an excellent speed tier (125), making it fairly balanced. With it's new power, it can really cause some trouble, countering things it couldn't before, specifically pesky Poison types, specifically Crobat, which it doesn't have to rely off of of Stone Edge IF it didn't get slaughtered by a Brave Bird. One counter to this beast is Sylveon, who can cause trouble when run special. It can't do too much to it and it gets hit back hard by a Pixilate Hyper Voice. Overall, Mega Mienshao is baller.
Sorry, but submissions are closed. You will have to wait untill the next slate to submit a pokemon. But feel free to vote for the existing mons for the moment
