Miltank

[OVERVIEW]

With its great physical bulk, Miltank is able to take on top-tier threats such as Tauros and Kangaskhan. In addition, access to reliable recovery makes sure that Miltank is able to outlast the Pokemon it checks. Miltank also has a slew of support options in Thunder Wave, Heal Bell, and Stealth Rock, making it a very helpful asset for some teams. Miltank's Speed also sets it apart other walls such as Mega Audino, as it outspeeds some slower offensive Pokemon with minimal investment. Thanks to Sap Sipper, Miltank has an immunity to Grass-type attacks, particularly Sleep Powder, making it a great check to Grass-types such as Lilligant and Shiftry. Though Miltank does face some competition from Mega Audino, Miltank does not rely on Wish and Protect for recovery, freeing up a moveslot for it to run another support move and giving it more versatility. Miltank does, however, have mediocre Special Defense, which leaves it vulnerable to special attackers such as Samurott, Magmortar, Mesprit, Rotom, and Ludicolo. Miltank's Normal typing leaves it with no resistances and causes it to be threatened by the many Fighting-types that roam the tier, hindering its walling capabilities. Miltank also tends to be setup bait for Substitute users and Pokemon that resist Body Slam such as Klinklang, Rhydon, and Mismagius.

Moves
========

Body Slam is a reliable STAB move with a nice chance to paralyze the foe, discouraging Pokemon from switching in. Milk Drink is a reliable recovery move that ensures Miltank stays healthy throughout the match. Toxic wears Pokemon down with residual damage and is the only move Miltank can hit Rotom with. Thunder Wave allows Miltank to reliably paralyze the foe, crippling many fast Pokemon such as Tauros, Kangaskhan, and Lilligant. Stealth Rock wears down the opposing team with residual damage, supporting teammates very well. Heal Bell rids Miltank and its teammates of any harmful status ailments such as poison and burn. Seismic Toss is another option over Body Slam so that Miltank is able to reliably break Klinklang's Substitute. Earthquake is another option that can be used over either status move to ensure that Miltank is not setup bait for Klinklang, as well as to hit Garbodor and Probopass.

Set Details
========

The given EV spread with an Impish nature makes Miltank as physically bulky as possible, allowing it to take on Tauros and Kangaskhan. 16 Speed EVs are used to outspeed neutral-natured base 70 Speed Pokemon such as Samurott and Ludicolo. Sap Sipper allows Miltank to check Grass-types such as Lilligant and prevents it from being put to sleep by Sleep Powder. Leftovers gives Miltank passive recovery, increasing its longevity and lessening the need to use Milk Drink to restore HP. Rocky Helmet is another option to wear down physical attackers, most notably Klinklang, as it takes Rocky Helmet damage twice with Gear Grind, as well as to punish U-turn users such as Scyther.

Usage Tips
========

Try to keep Miltank healthy throughout the match with Milk Drink. Generally, it's best to restore HP or set up Stealth Rock against Pokemon that cannot do much damage to Miltank such as Tauros and Kangaskhan. Furthermore, Miltank can even set up Stealth Rock freely against Grass-type Pokemon such as Lilligant and Jumpluff thanks to Sap Sipper. It is also worth noting that Miltank is able to stall out Pokemon inflicted with Toxic by repeatedly using Milk Drink. Body Slam is usually a decent move to use early-game to get chip damage and possibly paralyze switch-ins. It also should be used when Miltank is relatively healthy to discourage Pokemon from switching in due to the risk of paralysis. Thunder Wave should be used against fast offensive Pokemon and some weather sweepers to cripple them for the rest of the match. Be wary of using any status moves if Gurdurr is on the opposing team, as it will gain an Attack boost from Guts if it's hit by Thunder Wave or Toxic, though it is sometimes key to get residual damage on Gurdurr for a teammate to pick it off. Heal Bell should be used whenever Miltank or a teammate has been inflicted with a status ailment.

Team Options
========

Poison-types such as Garbodor, Weezing, and Vileplume make for great partners, as they can switch in on Fighting-types with ease, and the former is also able to absorb Toxic Spikes, support Miltank with entry hazards of its own, and punish physical attackers with chip damage from Rocky Helmet and Aftermath. Vileplume appreciates Miltank's ability to heal status conditions, particularly burns, enabling it to check Scald users more easily. Psychic-types such as Mesprit, Xatu, and Musharna pair well with Miltank due to their ability to check Fighting-types and retaliate with their STAB moves. Musharna also appreciates Miltank's ability to heal any harmful status effects, enabling Musharna to stay healthy throughout the match. Xatu has a 4x resistance to Fighting-type moves and bounces back any entry hazards that may wear Miltank down, specifically keeping Toxic Spikes off the field so that Miltank is not forced to use Heal Bell each time it switches in.

Miltank also fits well on balanced teams that are in need of a Stealth Rock user that can cripple offensive Pokemon with Thunder Wave. Pokemon such as Swords Dance Samurott and Magmortar appreciate Thunder Wave support, allowing them to sweep faster teams easily, and also appreciate Miltank's ability to switch into Lilligant thanks to Sap Sipper. Bulky Water-types such as Prinplup and Pelipper pair well with Miltank, as they appreciate Miltank's ability to switch in on Grass-type attacks and its Heal Bell support. In return, both can remove entry hazards with Defog, and the latter easily switches in on Fighting-type attacks.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

A Curse set with a specially defensive spread can work well and allow Miltank to serve as a bulky win condition once Fighting-type Pokemon are eliminated, but Unaware Quagsire stops it in its tracks. Thick Fat is another option to give Miltank resistances to Fire- and Ice-type attacks, allowing Miltank to check Aurorus and non-Focus Blast Magmortar. Scrappy can be chosen so that Miltank is not walled by Ghost-types such as Rotom and Haunter, but Sap Sipper generally has much better utility. An offensive set can also be used, as Miltank sits at a good Speed tier and is able to get past Ferroseed with Fire Punch, but it is otherwise largely outclassed by Kangaskhan. A specially defensive spread with Thick Fat is another option that allows Miltank to take on specially based Fire- and Ice-types very well at the cost of significantly lowering its physical bulk.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fighting-types**: Fighting-types such as Gurdurr, Sawk, Hitmonchan, and Hariyama switch in on most of Miltank's moves and threaten Miltank with their respective STAB attacks, though the latter two do not appreciate Toxic or Thunder Wave. Gurdurr in particular is very troublesome for Miltank, as it takes advantage of any status effects with Guts while healing off damage taken with Drain Punch.

**Powerful Special Attackers**: Pokemon such as Life Orb Samurott, Ludicolo, and Mesprit take advantage of Miltank's mediocre Special Defense by easily 2HKOing it, though none of these Pokemon can safely switch in because they would be crippled by status ailments.

**Substitute Users**: Substitute users such as Klinklang, Huntail, and Articuno can use Miltank to set up Substitute freely, blocking any status moves. Klinklang also resists Miltank's Body Slam and can set up on it with Shift Gear, while Articuno is able to stall Miltank with the combination of Roost and Toxic.

**Taunt Users**: Taunt users, such as Samurott, Haunter, and Pyroar, stop Miltank from healing itself, spreading status ailments, and setting up Stealth Rock. Miltank still has a chance to paralyze these Pokemon with Body Slam with the exception of Haunter due to its immunity to the move, crippling them for the rest of the match.

[OVERVIEW]
  • Great physical bulk, allows Miltank to take on top tier threats such as Sneasel, Tauros and Kangaskhan
  • Has reliable recovery ensuring it outlasts the Pokemon it's supposed to check combine the above and this, its bulk combined with reliable recovery is a reason to use miltank
  • Has great support options in Thunder Wave, Heal Bell and Stealth Rock
  • Very fast for a defensive Pokemon why is this good?
  • Two great abilities in Sap Sipper and Thick Fat
  • Lacks resistances and is threatened by many Fighting-types that roam the tier such as Sawk, Gurdurr and Gallade
  • Somewhat outclassed by Audino and Mega Audino as a wall eh, i wouldn't say outclassed. You play the two differently and miltank has its pros over Audino
  • Lacking special bulk leaves it vulnerable to some special attackers in the tier such as Samurott, Mesprit, Rotom and Ludicolo 70 isn't exactly bad
  • Can be set up bait for Pokemon with Substitute due to its lacking attack stat neither is 80, mono attacking leaves it setup bait to ghosts and steeltypes like klinklang.

I would maybe bring EQ up from OO and keep it here, as EQ is really useful with Klinklang becoming so popular. I would probably mention it going over the status moves, as Body Slam is more than enough for a lot of people.

This is mainly since Milk Drink is enough for most cases, and the extra damage on Physical attackers is always nice.

this looks pretty good. personally i like toxic > thunder wave so you can touch rock types without having to resort to seismic toss, body slam gets plenty of para's as is. i'd make sure to mention an offensive set in oo. while the offensive set is largely outclassed by kangaskhan, the speed tier and ability to get past ferroseed with fire punch (without losing a crucial moveslot) is really nice.

although i hate miltank, its a better mon than i give it credit for and this is really thorough. good job 2/3

Poison-types such as Garbodor and Weezing make great partners, as they both switch in on Fighting-types with ease, while the former is able to absorb Toxic Spikes, support Miltank with hazards of its own, and punishes physical attackers with Rocky Helmet plus Aftermath damage. Vileplume is another decent partner, as it covers Miltank's Fighting-type weakness, and is able to absorb Toxic Spikes. Psychic-types such as Uxie, Xatu and Musharna pair well with Miltank, due to their ability to check Fighting-types very well if holding a Colbur Berry and retaliate with their Psyshic STAB. the colbur berry part is kinda odd, just leave it that they are good teammates since they check fighting types Musharna and Uxie also appreciate Miltank's ability to rid them of harmful status effects, such as posion and burn enabling them to stay healthy throughout the match. Xatu has x4 resistance to Fighting-type moves and bounces back any hazards that wear Miltank down, specifically keeping Toxic Spikes off the field so Miltank is not forced to use Heal Bell each time it switches in.

Miltank also fits well on balance teams that are in need of a Stealth Rock user that cripples offensive Pokemon with Thunder Wave. A Curse set with a specially defensive spread can work well and allow to serve as a bulky win condition once Fighting-type Pokemon are eliminated, but Unaware Quagsire stops it in its tracks. Scrappy can be chosen, so that Miltank is not walled by Ghost-types such as Rotom and Haunter, but generally Thick Fat and Sap Sipper have much better utility. An offensive set can also be used, as Miltank sits at a good Speed tier and is able to get past Ferroseed with Fire Punch, but it largely outclassed by Kangaskhan otherwise. A specially defensive spread with Thick Fat is another option to allow Milltank to take on specially based Fire- and Ice-types very well at the cost of significantly lowering its physical bulk.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fighting-types**: Fighting-types such as Gurdurr, Sawk, and Hariyama switch in on most of Miltank's moves and threaten Miltank with their STAB, though the latter two do not appreciate Toxic or Thunder Wave. Gurdurr in particular is very troublesome for Miltank, as it takes advantage of any status effect with Guts, while healing off damage taken with Drain Punch.

**Powerful Special Attackers**: Pokemon such as Life Orb Samurott, Ludicolo and Mesprit take advantage of Miltank's mediocre Special Defense by easily 2HKOing, though none of these Pokemon can safely switch in due to being crippled by status.

**Substitute**: Substitute users such as Klinklang and Mismagius are resistant and immune respectively to Miltank's Body Slam and set up Substitute freely, blocking any status move.

I dont really think sub np mismagius is very good or relevant enough, I would add articuno since I've had to face the sub roost set once or twice and its annoying as hell, and huntail as well here.

**Taunt**: Taunt users, such as Samurott, Haunter, and Pyroar, stop Miltank from healing, spreading status and setting up Stealth Rock. Miltank still has a chance to paralyze all of these Pokemon with Body Slam with the exception of Haunter due to its immunity, crippling them for the rest of the match.
Remove mentions of Uxie, add mentions of Shiftry/Skuntank/Hitmonchan where appropriate. This thing laughs at mixed Shiftry, so thats something to note.
Anyways, this looks very good. Fix up the few things I noted in bold and move this along.

[OVERVIEW]

With its great physical bulk, Miltank is able to take on top tier threats such as Tauros and Kangaskhan. In and in addition, access to reliable recovery makes sure that Miltank is able to outlast the Pokemon it checks. Miltank also has a slew of support options in Thunder Wave, Heal Bell, and Stealth Rock, making it a very helpful asset for some teams. Miltank's Speed is another trait that lets it set itself also sets it apart, as it allows it to outspeeds even some slower offensive Pokemon with minimal investment. Thanks to Sap Sipper, Miltank has an immunity to Grass-type attacks as well as Sleep Powder, making it a great check for to Grass-types such as Lilligant and Shiftry. Though Miltank does face some competition with from Mega Audino and its Mega evolution, Miltank does not rely on Wish plus and Protect for recovery, freeing up a moveslot for it to run another support move, therefore and giving it more versatility. Miltank does, (AC) however, (AC) have mediocre Special Defense, which leaves it vulnerable to special attackers such as Samurott, Magmortar, Mesprit, Rotom, and Ludicolo. Miltank's Normal typing leaves Miltank it with no resistances and causes it to be threatened by the many Fighting-types that roam the tier, hindering its walling capabilities. Miltank also tends to be set(remove space)up bait for Substitute users and Pokemon that resist Body Slam such as Klinklang, Rhydon, and Mismagius.

Body Slam is a reliable STAB move with a nice chance to paralyze the foe, discouraging Pokemon from switching in. Milk Drink is a reliable recovery move that ensures it Miltank stays healthy throughout the match. Toxic wears down Pokemon with residual damage, is the only move Miltank can hit Rotom with, (AC) and is not redundant when paired with Body Slam (what does this mean?). Thunder Wave allows Miltank to reliably paralyze the foe, crippling many fast Pokemon such as Tauros, Kangaskhan, and Lilligant. Stealth Rock is a great move that wears down the opposing team with residual damage, supporting teammates very well. Heal Bell is great to rids Miltank and its teammates of any harmful status ailments such as poison and burn, as well as heal status from any other teammates. Seismic Toss is another option over Body Slam so that Miltank is able to reliably break Klinklang's Substitutes reliably. Earthquake is another option that can be used over either status move to ensure that Miltank is not set(remove space)up bait for Klinklang, as well as hit Garbordor and Probopass.

Set Details

The given EV spread plus with an Impish nature makes Miltank as physically bulky as possible on the physical side (I'm gonna murder you), allowing it to take on Tauros and Kangaskhan. 16 Speed EVs are used to outspeed neutral base 70 Speed Pokemon such as Samurott and Ludicolo. Sap Sipper allows Miltank to check Grass-types such as Lilligant and to prevents it from being put to sleep by Sleep Powder. Leftovers gives it Miltank passive recovery, increasing its longevity, (RC) and lessens lessening the need to use Milk Drink to heal restore HP. Rocky Helmet is another option to wear down physical attackers, most notably Klinklang, as it takes Rocky Helmet damage twice with Gear Grind, (AC) as well as also punishing U-turn users such as Scyther.

Usage Tips
========

Try to keep Miltank healthy throughout the match with Milk Drink. Generally, (AC) it'(apostrophe)s best to restore HP against Pokemon that cannot do much damage in return such as Tauros and Kangaskhan. It is also worth noting that Miltank is able to stall out Pokemon inflicted with Toxic by repeatedly using Milk Drink, allowing to stay healthy as it wears the foe down. Set up Stealth Rock against a Pokemon that cannot do much damage back such as Tauros and Kangaskhan, (AC) and if running Sap Sipper, Miltank can even set up Stealth Rock freely against Grass-types such as Lilligant and Jumpluff. Body Slam is usually a decent move to use early-(AH)game to get chip damage and possibly paralyze switch-(AH)ins. It also should be used when Miltank is relatively healthy to discourage Pokemon from switching in due to the risk of paralysis. Thunder Wave should be used against fast offensive Pokemon, (RC) and some weather sweepers to cripple them for the rest of the match. Do be Be wary of using any status moves if Gurdurr is on the opposing team, as it will gain an attack Attack boost from Guts if it's hit by Thunder Wave or Toxic, though it is sometimes key to get residual damage on Gurdurr for a teammate to pick it off. Heal Bell should be used whenever Miltank or a teammate has been inflicted with a status ailment.

Poison-types such as Garbodor and Weezing make for great partners, as they can both switch in on Fighting-types with ease, while the former is also able to absorb Toxic Spikes, support Miltank with entry hazards of its own, and punishes physical attackers with chip damage from Rocky Helmet plus and Aftermath damage. Vileplume is another decent partner, as it covers Miltank's Fighting-type weakness, (RC) and is able to absorb Toxic Spikes. In return, Vileplume appreciates Miltank's ability to heal status conditions, in particular Burn particularly burns, enabling it to check Scald users more easily. Psychic-types such as Mesprit, Xatu, (AC) and Musharna pair well with Miltank, (RC) due to their ability to check Fighting-types and retaliate with their Psyshic STAB moves. Musharna also appreciates Miltank's ability to heal any harmful status effects, such as posion and burn enabling Musharna to stay healthy throughout the match. Xatu has x4 a 4x resistance to Fighting-type moves and bounces back any entry hazards that wear Miltank down, specifically keeping Toxic Spikes off the field so that Miltank is not forced to use Heal Bell each time it switches in.

Miltank also fits well on balance teams that are in need of a Stealth Rock user that cripples offensive Pokemon with Thunder Wave. Pokemon such as Swords Dance Samurott and Magmortar appreciate Thunder Wave support, allowing them to sweep faster teams easily, and also appreciate Miltank's ability to switch into Lilligant with thanks to Sap Sipper. Bulky Water-types such as Prinplup and Pelipper pair well with Miltank, as they appreciate Miltank's ability to switch in on Grass-type attacks and its Heal Bell support. In return, both can remove entry hazards with Defog, while the latter easily switches in on Fighting-type attacks.
