[OVERVIEW]

Fairy
========

* Mimikyu is a decent physical setup sweeper for Fairy teams.
* It's great defensive typing gives it three important immunities to Normal, Fighting, and Dragon-type moves.
* It's stab attacks have good neutral coverage.
* It's unique ability Disguise enables it to survive at least one move.
* It can setup Trick Room for its team.
* Access to Swords Dance means it can patch up its otherwise mediocre Attack stat, and works quite well with Disguise.
* Access to priority in form of Shadow Sneak.
* It has a quite underwhelming Attack stat, and Speed, which means that it cannot deal much damage without a boost and is quite prone to being revenge killed while Disguise is broken. It also has terrible physical bulk.
* Disguise does not protect Mimikyu from status moves, and it is quite vulnerable to all of them.

Moves
========

* Swords Dance is a necessary move, allowing it to sweep late-game while Disguise guaranteeing it being able to setup at least once.
* Shadow Claw is it's primary stab and hits Psychic and Ghost-types such as Victini, Jirachi, Alolan Marowak supereffectively. With Ghostium Z, Mimikyu can use Never-Ending Nightmare, which allows it to get past threats such as Mega Venusaur and Mega Scizor.
* Play Rough hits threats resistant to Shadow Claw such as Dark-types while having good neutral coverage.
* Shadow Claw is stab priority allowing it to revenge kill faster foes such as Mega Alakazam and Gengar.

Set Details
========

* Disguise is the only ability Mimikyu has, but it is extremely useful as it guarantees Mimikyu taking a hit once.
* Maximum investment in Attack lets it hit as hard as possible.
* Maximum investment in Speed with a Jolly nature lets Mimikyu outspeed Pokemon below base 96 Speed, such as Kyurem-B, Mega Sharpedo, and Mega Garchomp.
Life Orb gives Mimikyu a good boost in its Attack, but it wears it down due to the recoil.
* Ghostium Z is essential to use Never-Ending Nightmare, which allows Mimikyu to get past threats which would otherwise wall it.

Usage Tips
========

* Use Mimikyu primarily as an late-game sweeper after its checks and counters have been sufficiently weakened.
* Try to keep Disguise intact, as Mimikyu will need it for setting up.
* Use Swords Dance against foes it forces out, such as Kyurem-B,Mega Alakazam, and Gengar.
* Mimikyu is vulnerable to all form of status. Burn severely reduces its viability by lowering its Attack stat, Paralysis heavily cripples it, while Toxic puts it in a timer. So it should play around it with care.
* If using Life Orb, play carefully around Knock Off users, as Mimikyu's attack stat is quite mediocre.
* If using Ghostium Z, be sure when and on what to use. Be careful about your opponent switching out, as it can use Never-Ending Nightmare once only.

Team Options
========

* Tapu Koko is a good partner as it gives it VoltTurn support to bring Mimikyu in while also checking Steel-types such as Celesteela, Skarmory, and Scizor.
* Special Attackers are useful for dealing with the physically defensive foes Mimikyu has trouble with, such as Porygon2 and Landorus-T. Magearna, Sylveon, and Gardevoir are thus good partners, as they also benefit from Mimikyu breaking specially defensive foes such as Chansey and Mega Venusaur.
* Fast Pokemons such as Tapu Koko, Whimsicott, and Choice Scarf Gardevoir pair well with Mimikyu, as they check revenge killers trying to take advantage of Mimikyu.
* Clerics such as Togekiss and Sylveon can cure Mimikyu from status.
* Klefki is a great partner as it can provide Spikes which helps Mimikyu sweep, while also providing Thunder Wave which can somewhat mitigate Mimikyu's average Speed.

Other Options
=============

Fairy
--------
* Mimikyu could use Trick Room to help its team, but it cannot utilize it effectively itself.
* Lum Berry can be used to prevent status, but the power drop without Life Orb is usually not worth it.
* Red Card can be used to act as an emergency check to setup sweepers, but Mimikyu has no other use outside of it and generally prefers the power of Life Orb.
* A bulky set with Substitute and Leech Seed could be used with Leftovers as the item to make use of Disguise, but Mimikyu's below average stats reduces its effectiveness significantly.
* Will-O-Wisp could be used to deal with physical attackers, but is useless if disguise is broken and Mimikyu has to forgo an important move.

Checks and Counters
===================

Fairy
--------
**Steel-types**: Steel-types such as Scizor formes, Heatran, and Magearna forces Mimikyu out due to their super effective stabs.

**Physically defensive foes**: Physically defensive or mixed Pokemons such as Porygon2, Alolan Muk, and Landorus-T can take a hit from Mimikyu and retaliate.

**Revenge killers**: Faster foes such as Greninja, Jirachi, Sand Rush Excadrill and Choice Scarf Magnezone can try to revenge kill Mimikyu. Priority users such as both Scizor formes and Talonflame can revenge kill it if Disguise is broken.

**Toxapex**: Toxapex can take any hit from Mimikyu, can survive a +2 Never-Ending Nightmare easily, can use Recover to replenish lost health while removing any boosts by using Haze.

**Status**: Status moves such as burn, toxic, and paralysis heavily cripples Mimikyu. Burn severely reduces its viability by lowering its Attack stat, Paralysis heavily cripples it, while Toxic puts it in a timer.

**Mold Breaker**: Pokemons with the ability Mold Breaker can bypass Disguise. Excadrill, Mega Gyarados, and Haxorus can hit Mimikyu hard due to it's terrible bulk. The same applies to Teravolt users such as Kyurem-B.
