Monotype AAA Suspect Test Results
Thanks Lax

The Mono AAA Council has decided to unban Charizardite X with 4 votes to unban, 0 to ban. Genesect is also being banned with 3 votes towards ban and 1 for unban. Slowbronite had 2 votes on ban and two abstaining which results in a ban. Finally, Greninja has received a total of 4 unban votes.

Charizardite: Unban
Lots of mons with flash fire, levitate, unaware etc. The reasons why it was banned in regular monotype definitely do not apply here.
Genesect: Unban
While this mon was insanely unpredictable in regular Monotype, and it is even MORE unpredictable in AAA, I feel like with the diverse amount of abilities introduced to AAA, most teams can cope with Gene by switching in to it and revenging it.
Greninja: Unban
I mean, lol, way too weak, lots of priority in AAA.
Slowbronite: Ban
Yeah, this is insanely broken. Volt Absorb or anything -> regular fat calm mind mega bro stuff. Too much for fire, for sure, and many other types. Only one that seems broken.

zard: definitely unban this thing isnt good at all
genesect: this is too much imo its freedom of ability shits on the types it already beat even more.. ban
greninja: im with lax on this one, unban
slowbronite: i really dont think this is that bad... i need to test with it more but it seems fine, its not like stabmons where it gets broken moves, and here a lot of types get new toys to beat this with.. abstain

Zard: I'm all for unbanning this. Zard X isn't even that good in Mono AAA. Unban
Genesect: There's numerous abilities this thing can run which makes it difficult to play against. Ban
Greninja: I honestly see this thing's only relevant ability being Protean and it gets shitted on this tier Unban
Slowbronite: Agreeing with Afd on this one and abstaining since I haven't used this at all or played against anyone with Mega Slowbro

Charizardite: There are a lot more counters for this now. Unban
Genesect:
This was a difficult decision, but ultimately its range of abilities coupled with its insane ability to gain momentum against most types is too much. Also it gets amazing support on both bug and steel. Ban
Greninja:
Protean Greninja is still nice but not overpowered. Unban
Slowbronite:
Has a lot of viable abilities pre - mega, and I still see the mega calm mind variant in particular being too much for some types. Ban

Happy Banning! :toast:

Monotype DOU Suspect Tests Results
Thanks MainEvent

The Mono DOU Council has decided to unban: Aegislash, Blaziken, and Mega Blaiken. All votes were 3 unban 0 Ban

Aegislash: No Ban

Aegislash is a solid option in the doubles metagame, unlike in singles it brings good utility as a TR attacker/TR counter/wide guard support versus and all out attacker. However it is far from broken, its weaknesses really set it back being weak to fire and ground two of the most prevalent move types being used. It is also knock off weak, and unlike singles doubles has the method of double targeting to kill threats that could not commonly be killed in singles. This method ko's mons that would not normally get OHKOd. Aegislash is susceptible to this due to having a slower speed tier of 60 which is outpaced by most of the metagame.

Blaziken: No Ban

Unlike in singles where blaziken after a speed boost or two becomes extremely hard to deal with, this is not the case for doubles. Blaziken does not run spread moves that can hit multiple targets, due to this it can only deal with a single mon at the field at a time. The fact that it can only deal with a single mon at a time limits it greatly due to its frailness it dies to most neutral hits + LO recoil. There is also mons that still out speed blaziken at +1 including: Deo, Deo-A, Scarf Genesect, Scarf Landorus-T, Scarf Kyurem B, Scarf Thundurus-T, Scarf Rotom-W. There are also mons such as Hoopa-U scarfed or non scarf that beat Blaziken due to the ability to bypass its protect on the first turn when getting the speed boost. Also Blaziken cannot touch Azumarill and just dies to aqua jet.

Blaziken-Mega: No Ban

Mega Blaziken suffers from the same thing regular does, it cannot deal with two mons at the same time. It also takes the mega spot on your team and both fire (Zard-y, Zard-x, Camerupt, Houndoom) and fighting (Gallade, Heracross, Lucario, Medicham) have more options. In most cases you will be better off running regular Blaziken with one of the other megas because the boosts it get (30Atk, 20 SpA, 20 Speed) do not help it enough to justify using it over the regular variant.

Aegislash: No Ban

The fact that Aegislash has different "stances" is what holds it back. While its low speed tier can be utilized to move after your opponent's leaving you less vulnerable, it'll often be forced to King's Shield next turn, due to it being an easy OHKO from the majority of the meta when in its bladeform, which ultimately leaves the user to apply less pressure turn after turn.

Blaziken: No Ban

Being that Blaziken is sitting on paper defenses it's much easier to KO than it would be in singles. While the pokemon does apply a lot of offensive pressure, it's nowhere near impossible to beat, so therefore I feel it should not be banned.

Blaziken-Mega: No Ban

Same as regular blaziken, though it's even weaker so it's a weaker choice.

Aegislash: No Ban

Unlike Singles, Aegislash needing to change forms as it attacks greatly hinders its effectiveness in doubles, where it either needs to waste a turn switching back to shield form, or risk getting attacked in sword form. Also, being limited to ghost/steel means that it doesn't truly help either type overcome any inherent weaknesses.

Blaziken: No Ban

Blaziken is too slow to do much in doubles without protecting turn 1 to get a speed boost, and even after that, it's too frail to survive very long. While it has pretty good coverage, low offensive stats mean a lot of common pokemon can live a LO boosted hit and OHKO back.

Blaziken-Mega: No Ban

Mega Blaziken is essentially a worse reg blaziken. The LO boost gives a greater boost to atk/spatk than the stat boosts gained from mega evo.

Be free my friends!

This is sort of a small thing that might not be worth the effort, but I think that reorganizing the main viability rankings to a format similar to one of the Mono OM viability rankings (can't remember which one) would be more beneficial, with it separated by typing; one hide tag would be normal and you open it to see all of the ranks S-E. This makes it a lot easier if you're trying to build a team for a type and just want to see the viability rankings of that one type as it can get rather tedious to keep scrolling down and finding the type underneath the rank.

example:
S
(chansey sprite) (porygon-2 sprite)
A
(Meloetta sprite), etc
I'll do that when I get some time, thanks for the suggestion :

Agreeing with Red here:

I think of a suicide lead as something that can set up some form of hazard or weather or trick room, etc with the intention of leading with it and dying after setting up those field conditions. Leading with Keldeo and letting it kill itself to get off an Endeavor is almost never worth it, but besides that even if it did I wouldn't consider it a suicide lead because it's not setting anything up.

The only water-type suicide leads I can think of are Greninja, Cloyster, Omastar & Qwilfish, but I don't know if any of their hazard sets are viable enough to put in a compendium, lol
You dare forget A Monogod... Sirskit's Sticky Webs trap dragons man... you should be banned from mono forever.

BW Monotype Viability rankings

approved by scpinion
Welcome to the BW Monotype Viability Rankings. As most of you know, Monotype is completely different from OU in terms of viability. Instead of focusing on a Pokemon's flaws and the amount of roles they can perform, we're mainly focusing on how each Pokemon can fare against other type matchups. Abilities are valued more than normal,
will be ranked Higher. Pokemon are placed in either S, A, B, C, or D rank, with S only having Pokemon that can easily influence the game against a majority of type matchups, while D has Pokemon that are solely used for their moves or abilities.
Rules
-No New Ranks/Rank change will be accepted at this moment in the thread
-If you see a Pokemon is misplaced please PM/VM iVid or Anttya with a good explanation why
-Please do not VM/PM rank changes if you do not know or have very little experience with the BW Monotype Metagame

How the Ranks Work
-Pokemon have two Ranks for two different types. Ex: Abomasnow would be more useful on Ice than it would be on Grass

These people will have the final say if a Pokemon is completely misplaced. If you have any questions or need help, please PM / VM these people.

E Rank: Outclassed in almost every single way, or it it just sucks.

Just quoting so that I'm referring to this in Braviary being in BW. q.q

Braviary Rank B (Normal)

I'm pretty surprised that Braviary isn't on the list of viability. I been using it on Normal for BW tours in the Monotype room. Also a few did demonstrate to me how dangerous of a Pokemon it is depending on how well you can use it in terms of it running Maranga Berry. Braviary has great attacking coverage such as Superpower in checking Dark-, Ice-, Rock-, Steel-, and opposing Normal-types such as Hydreigon, Mamoswine, Tyranitar, Ferrothorn, and Chansey. U-turn is a nice move for scouting and gaining momentum for Pokemon that appreciates a slow U-turn, allowing you to go into a more reasonable counter without even getting hit by an attack either. He also has pretty good bulk as well allowing it to invest in a defensive set. It even has a good ability in Defiant, getting a nice +2 boost in its Attack if one of its stats lower along with having a perfect opportunity getting to +1 from Intimidate Pokemon such as Landorus-T, Gyarados, Arcanine, Salamence, Scrafty, Staraptor and Krookodile. With the right conditions, Braviary can set up with its most popular set, Substitute + Bulk Up and sweep from there. Works great against defensive Pokemon such as Cresselia. With great bulk along with Roost, Braviary can effectively stall enough to set up a couple of Bulk Up boosts. Running Choice Band on it, Braviary can become an effective wallbreaker and Choice Scarf makes it a good revenge killer as well. However, Braviary's Speed is what hinders it from being too good. Also its typing is pretty stellar from the Stealth Rock weakness along with Ice and Electric coverage moves appearing for this troubled bird. Other faster Choice Scarf Pokemon can give it some trouble as well. If not enough of a convincing argument, then Braviary should at least be rank C because I do believe it definitely deserves to be ranked.

from my experience in normal stabmons and looking at how mlop is played in mono stabmon, there's a difference obviously because i can tell
that not much teams can bounce back to a +2 mlop in their face in mono while in normal stabmons bouncing back is rather easy since we
aren't limited to our teams a simple defensive core like slowbro+lando-i etc but then again this isn't normal stabmons its mono stabmons and
basically any set mlop has can dent a team severely due to its speed/ great ability/ attack power. It ability "scrappy" lets it blow away ghost mono since +2 espeed + hjk wins 90% verse ghost but thats not the case. The best way of fighting it is fake-out Spam+ bulky pivots.
tbh i haven't come to a close as yet whether it stays or not because in normal stabmons it has been banned for similar reasons. The most annoying trait mlop has is that it can break pass its potential counters rather easily due to lovely kiss, 75% hits like 100%. The only way of beating mlop back then was fake out spam + pivots because it never ran fake out at all. i can only gave my side on normal stabmons i would have to play more to see n_n

if you couldn't tell, we moved into our own sub-forum. HOORAY!!! :D

This means all the resources and information that used to be housed in this one thread will be moved out into individual threads to facilitate discussion on all these topics in parallel. At this point, I've moved most of your posts out of this thread and into threads for each topic (VR, cores, speed tiers, etc.).

The Mono OMs are going to get their own Mega-threads, but we haven't quite worked out the details on all of them. For now, continue to post here until a new thread is created. DEG or I will post when they're ready to go.
