Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

So why is it that some of those seeds come up as nothing when you try to search them as Method J? I have had that happen with several of them now. Example 1:

seed: d2140289
PID: 7942EF72
Nature: Timid

When I enter in the spread (all 31s) for a Method J search, nothing comes up.

EDIT: I'm guessing I am going to have to find a flawless synchronizable seed on my own. Unless someone has one to share, it looks like that is my course of action.

Ok that makes sense. Ugh, this is going to take a long time, is there anyway I can generate an even target frame with my desired delay so I dont have to rely on an NPC?

Unless PokéRNG gave you other results for that delay, no. You're have to find a new Seed then. :/

But don't give up! You will hit your target eventually. ^^ It took 1-2 weeks for me to get HP:Fire Celebi and it was worth it (I tried to search for easier seed with same results but there was none).

So, the DS I was using to RNG in Platinum has gone bad...can I just pop my cartridge in my other DS and RNG, or is there some kinda process I have to go through?

No thoughts on this? Fourth gen neophyte looking for any help here. I'm really in need of a synchronizable seed to even begin looking into Wild Eep's ID/SID manipulation. That will give me an idea of when to shoot for time-wise. That emloop does look helpful. However, do people just use EonTimer now?

EDIT: For the sake of discussion, let's say I find a seed and the appropriate time for said seed. Would I have to start the new game (ie - create an ID) around that time to match with the seed? If that is the case, I assume I would have to account for the large delay (hence the delays in the 5000).

I'm not sure what you're asking in the first part but there are no sychable flawless seeds in Gen 4. For the ID/SID question, the large delay is to account for a new game. Check the first page to find out when the ID is set.

I have a problem with HGSS Sniny Perfect Eggs - the "shininess" is OK but even if I hit the right delay and frame I get wrong pokemon. How is that possible (everything is set up on my DS correctly)? My roamers are in the wild, not killed. And which roamer position should I input in Seed to Time function after hitting shiny pokemon ? The one before saving and giving parents to DC Lady or the one before saving and receiving the egg?

Well in that first part, I was wondering why that particular seed (and some others) did not show up when searching for them as Method J seeds. They come up fine as Method 1, but not as Method J. Are the stats in the spreadsheet off for some? My particular seed is the same example used in post #4 by Romsstar. I'm not getting any Method J results for the seed though.

No flawless synchronizable seeds in Gen 4? Really? Wow, at least that saves me the time to search for them.

And yes, I did check the first page for one the ID is set. However, do I need to match the ID creation with the seed time? IE - if my seed time is 13:24:58, do I need to create the ID at that time? I suppose I need to find my range for Delays when starting a new game though. Do the seconds matter for finding your seed from the ID you get?

BTW, thank you for the response. This gives me something to shoot for. I just need to figure out the ID/SID manipulation. I did use Wild Eep's program to find compatible seeds when searching for a Shiny PID. I'm just thankful that spreadsheet is there for everyone to use. That saves a lot of time.

EDIT: That's interesting. When I change the synch nature to Timid for that seed, several frames are generated for seed d2140289. So you need to have a Timid Synchronizer for that seed to work?

Did you find that seed from PokeRNG? If you did, it would show that there were no frames with those IV's without a syncher. I remember using that same seed before, and it has to be synched. :p

Also, about ID/SID manipulation, did you mean your flawless seed target time? Because that wouldn't work. Pandora's Box generates a new seed for you to hit depending on what set of ID's you choose. Basically, you put in the desired shiny PID you want (in this case, it would be 7942EF72), the year to search, and Min/Max Delay. It generates a list of new ID seeds from there. Then, you can pick a seed from there and put it in Seed to Time and find a time and date to hit your seed. :p

All my roamers are fainted and I have no issues with hatching shiny eggs.

I found the seed from the spreadsheets that were provided. I had to find out the hard way that a syncher needs to be used in order for the seed to work. However, does it just have to be a Timid Syncher?

Yeah, I think I am getting the idea regarding ID/SID manipulation. From what I am reading, it would also help to find out how long it takes to get to the ID creation part. That would seem important when trying to hit the ID seed. Thank you so much for the replies.

Yeah.. timid syncher only. The way gen 4 works with syching is weird like that.

The range of delays on that first page are a good place to start. You just put the PID in Pandora's Box and it'll spit out seeds for you to hit. It's pretty easy to figure out once you've started it.

Which PID you recommend to SID/ID RNG in Pearl? I thought of near flawless TIMID HP Ice 70, but the other IV spreads in these groups sucks... Any recommendations for useful (near)flawless or HP IV spread groups? Please recommend something for Diamond and Platinum as well (all three different).

Do you use any timer? What have you set as calibrated second and calibrated delay? It seems you hit 1-2 seconds and over 100 delays off your target.

I have a question: If I want to RNG catch a feebas on my Diamond, I would be setting my DS date to be the same every time I soft reset, so does that mean that for that particular seed at which I'm trying to catch feebas, the tiles at which it appears would be the same? So I can take my time first and find out where feebas is found and THEN try to hit my time and delay?

i used the pikatimer kindly help me sir
calibrated seconds 14 calibrated delay 480

Second & delay seems to be okay. I'd recommend using EonTimer or ZomgTimer instead. :d Those are very accurate and easy to use.

And on RNGReporter, set your delay range 100-100 and second 1-1. Kill roamers before you start RNGing (they will appear again when you beat the Elite 4).

Yes. The tiles change each day. So set the date and then find a tile that has it and hit your delay from there.

What are you trying to capture\hatch?

I think these pictures should explain what I'm trying to do. I'm really just stuck at what my target time should be. My delay was between 620-630 and my seconds were 14. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you talking beginning of the game or later from the Daycare. Either way you must find out your SID first. Also I don't advise trying to abuse the one you get from Elm as it is a pain. If you really want to I'll try and dig up some guides, but in the meantime go through the game so that you can unlock all the prerequisites outlined in post 2 for RNG Breeding.

Thanks. Yeah, I decided to just go through the game, but I'm trying to RNG some Pokemon from my Diamond just to make my HG runthrough easier. I'm not getting what the target time/synchronize time is referring to in the guides.

When you hit your delay the first time(saved in the daycare in front of the daycare lady), this determines your nature, gender, ability and shininess. You then have to save in front of the daycare man when he has the egg(assuming that the seed you chose had a frame of 1, as the frame number indicates the number of eggs it will take to get your desired result). First check the egg to confirm nature/gender/ability/shininess, then proceed to hit your delay for the IV's. Remember if you have roamers they advance your frame, the one NPC generally advances your starting frame to 3 instead of 1, and you need 7-8 elm calls to confirm you hit your seed.

Target time is the time that you are starting the game from the game menu(not the ds menu). So if your target time is 16:45:50 then you should be entering the game at that exact time. This is why timers are generally used, as they help control delay as well as ensuring you hit your target time.
Synchronize time is just referring to synchronizing your DS clock with either an external clock if you choose to try and RNG without a timer, or with the start of the timer each time you're abusing.

Your target time is whatever you feel comfortable doing, if using a timer then 59 seconds gives a lot of down time before mashing. If your just mashing without the use of the timer then you want to synch up your DS roughly a minute before your target time which should have a seconds value of 14(since that is your calibrated seconds). Just remember to start from the DS menu/soft reset at the beginning of the new minute. AKA if your target time is 16:45:14 then set the DS clock to 16:44:00 wait till it hits 16:45:00 and either start the game from the DS menu/soft reset(whichever you are most comfortable with).

Most of the time higher delays are used along with a timer as you don't have to mash and your results are better controlled.

But at what frame is it found? Or is it just random? :s

I believe once you find a square its just luck of the draw as to whether you encounter feebas on the frame your aiming for.
