Tier: UU to OU, if possible; Otherwise, NU, if it hits the bucket.

Overview:
At first, during B/W, Mr. Mime had a great niche in both NU, and even OU, for being the only Pokemon with access to both Soundproof and Baton Pass, and therefore the only good answer to Perish Song that Baton Pass teams have. Celebi and Politoed, you deserved it. Not only that, but it was also immune to Bug Buzz, abling it to get a free turn from even the mighty Volcarona if it was to switch in at the right moment.

However, due to Prankster + Taunt users (Including the obvious, yet, obligatory Sableye) having a leg up on Mr, or Mr's. Mime, if you prefer moveset, and the single Psychic Typing leaving it very open to T-Tar, Mr/Mr's Mime never went to far into the limelight.

Then, Gen VI happened.

Firstly, the Fairy Type: not only did it made it's already awesome 120 SpD even more usable, but gave it a free immunity to Dragon Types, making Dragonite, Salamence, and Hydreigon's Dragon type STABs useless against it, and patting it's poor 65 Def in the process. Secondly, Sound based moves have been buffed significantly; they can now pass through Substitutes, making Baton Passes even harder to perform than before, making Gen IV/V Perish Song look like a walk through the park. Thankfully, that also means Soundproof got buffed as well; now, it means that Mr/Mr's Mime is the only Baton Passer with a Sub that cannot be broken by sound moves.

It's pitiful HP and physical defenses, on the other hand, still exist, and still further burden on the edge of Mr/Mr's Mimes sanity, as it now has to face such contenders as Scizor, Heatran, and Aegislash, plus, while it has a type advantage over Big-T now, it still has to fight it's brothers hand to hand, and (try) to (desperately) rip it's Assault Vest in half. It's also only stuck with Dazzling Gleam as a rather effective Fairy Type attack, and not Moonblast, which is unfortunate, as it's still rather outclassed by Alakazam (especially with it's new Mega form), and now, Sylveon, and

But hey, it might not have Magic Guard, nor Bounce, but like they all say: Baton Passing will either make, or break a game. Hard, at that.

Mr. Mime (Baton Pass Soundproof)
Mr. Mime @ Leftovers
Ability: Soundproof
IVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Nature: Calm
- Baton Pass
- Calm Mind / Nasty Plot
- Substitute
- Encore / Dazzling Gleam / Taunt

Viability: Most likely, since it still has carried over a bunch of niches previous Gen, and with the new and improved Soundproof, it's a B+ Baton Passer.

This set is mostly designed for use on full Baton Pass teams, while also acting like the Ol' Special Wall and SpA booster that Mr/Mr's Mime was back last gen. With new Typing in Psychic/Fairy, Mr. Mime doesn't have to worry (for atleast, most of the time) against Dragon types anymore. Remember to keep your Substitute on at all times, if you happen to have the HP for it; it will not only protect you against Sound moves now, but it still can block the average status moves, debuffs, and hits from ruining Mr/Mr's Mime's boosting streak.

Calm Mind can boost Mr/Mr's Mime's special bulkiness, while also giving the opportunity to Baton Pass chain it to other capable Pokemon (I.E: Scolipede, Espeon, etc), or giving it to a single special oriented sweeper so it can finish the job. Nasty Plot adds a bit of risk, but the payoff can be tremendous, if done correctly. Encore and Substitute are like the toast and butter of all Baton Passing movesets, but Dazzling Gleam, while filler, has more potential in giving Mr. Mime more self defense against anything that is trying to harass it. Taunt can shut down other Baton Passers, and boosting Sweepers, while also keeping it's own Baton Pass in check.

Mr. Mime (Dual Screens + Baton Pass)
Mr. Mime @ Light Clay
Ability: Soundproof
IVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Nature: Calm / Bold
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Calm Mind / Barrier or Iron Defense / Psyshock
- Baton Pass

Viability: Combined with a Calm Mind boost, and Dual Screens, Mr/Mr's Mime can stack bulkiness for the entire team. It can boost it's miserable defense into something more acceptable, while also Skyrocketing it's SpD even more at the same time.

Calm Mind is much appreciated, as it makes Mr/Mr's Mime tank most hits from Sp. Attackers, while also giving Mr/Mr's Mime's team more advantage. Barrier, on the other hand, can be used as an defensive alternative, while giving a strong, bulky sweeper on you're team the upper edge. Psyshock is for only fighting back, however, so if you feel like it, you can always trade either filler. Finally, Baton Pass, it's secured niche, can be also used to escape from being trapped, and it's more useful with any of the boosting moves above.

Mr. Mime (Technician Sp Attacker...?)
Mr. Mime @ Focus Sash
Ability: Technician
IVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Nature: Timid / Modest
- Psyshock / Psychic
- Psyshock / Icy Wind
- Focus Blast / Dazzling Gleam / Shadow Ball
- HP Fire / Baton Pass

Viability: Despite being outclassed by Sylveon, Clefairy, and Megazam because goddamn Magic Guard, Mr/Mr's Mime stats are comparable to the former's normal form and Gengar's, and while it doesn't have Magic Guard, it does have something better: Technician.

Yes, while Mr/Mr's Mime's Movepool is almost devoid of Special moves below 70 BP, and while Technician is rather lackluster this Gen itself, Hidden Power and Icy Wind is all it needs for strong attacks. Icy Wind, while rather lackluster at first, Technician can boost it to a more acceptable attack, comparable to Ice Beam w/ Speed debuff. Focus Blast, Dazzling Gleam, and Shadow Ball are all nice coverage moves, while HP Fire can make Scizor's day hell if it doesn't realize it's opponent is also carrying Focus Sash. Baton Pass, on the other hand, can be used as a last resort, and switch out with another Pokemon, keeping your team's momentum up.

Mr. Mime (Choice Scarf)
Mr. Mime @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Technician
IVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Nature: Timid / Modest
- Trick
- Psyshock / Psychic
- Focus Blast / Shadow Ball / Dazzling Gleam
- Icy Wind / HP Fire

...If the above set was useless, then compare it to this. Mr/Mr's Mime also has a niche offensively as another Choice Scarfer w/ Trick, allowing it to Trick swap with opponents that happen to jump it at the last second. Self Explanatory, at the moment.

Conclusion:

While the Fairy Typing has given it more of a liability, it, for the most part, has finally let Mr/Mr's Mime to not get stomped on from Dark and Bug Types, along with a Sub that cannot be passed through with Sound moves. Mr. Mime is probably the 3rd best Baton Passer currently in the meta game because of this, with the Fairy Typing in hand, and an (almost) unbreakable Substitute on the other, you hope to Arceus that it sticks to that title.

Firstly, the Fairy Type: not only did it made it's already awesome 120 SpD even more usable, but gave it a free immunity to Dragon Types, making Dragonite, Salamence, and Hydreigon useless against it, and patting it's poor 65 Def in the process.
I wouldn't call those dragons useless against Mr. Mime. Salamence and Dragonite have physical attacks that can wreck Mime, especially the latter who can easily reach +1. Hydreigon is safer, but Mime isn't exactly immune when it takes neutral damage from the Dark STAB and Hydreigon's LO Flash Cannon can 2HKO (Although imo FC shouldn't be run on any Hydreigon except maybe Specs). I do not understand the anti-dragon hysteria recently since most dragons are just fine dealing with fairies.

Banned deucer.
Code:
252 SpA Life Orb Latios Psyshock vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mr. Mime: 121-143 (42.6 - 50.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 252+ Atk Dragonite Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mr. Mime: 260-307 (91.5 - 108%) -- 50% chance to OHKO
252 Atk Tough Claws Mega Charizard X Fire Punch vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mr. Mime: 229-270 (80.6 - 95%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Salamence Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Mr. Mime: 159-188 (55.9 - 66.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
Mr Mime's physical defense is just pathetic. The only dragon you can beat with it is Hydreigon.

Honestly, Mr Mime's only niche in OU are baton pass chains. Otherwise Togekiss and Sylveon outclass it completely.

Yeah, not much to talk about here, use it on Baton Bass teams that want protection against Perish Song and Roar users.
