Normally I'd post a set but pretty much every Lilligant variant really benefits from Shiftry wearing down or KOing Grass-type checks such as Magmortar / Skuntank with its Dark-type moves or LO Explosion. Once these are out of the way, Lilligant can either sweep more easily with Quiver Dance or clean up more effectively with a Scarf or Specs set in the late-game.
Garbodor @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 248 HP / 204 Def / 56 Spe
Impish Nature
- Toxic Spikes
- Spikes
- Gunk Shot
- Focus Blast
-Garbodor is one of the best partners for Shiftry, and shiftry performs great on spike stack offense. Explosion set in particular, lures defog skuntanks and possible some other hazard controls not letting opponent remove hazards and allowing a teammate to clean up late game. Garbodor also has a good type sinergy with it, resisting bug types from pokemon like scyther, and poison from vileplume, while shiftry is a soft psychic check, considering some of them have signal beam. Evs/set are standard, altough garb can run a bit more offensive spread to pressure xatu more, focus blast is always nice for hitting aggron.

Magmortar @ Assault Vest
Ability: Vital Spirit
EVs: 64 HP / 252 SpA / 192 Spe
Modest Nature
- Fire Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Earthquake / Flame Charge / Psychic / Focus Blast
Magmortar is one of the most go-to partners for Shiftry as they help eachother out alot. Magmortar threatens (atleast a 2HKO) a lot of mons that annoy Shiftry like Weezing, Skuntank, Garbodor, Vileplume, Ferroseed and the recent newcomer Gurdurr. Mortar also resists Ice, Bug and ofcourse Fire while Shiftry resists Ground and Water. Magmortar also likes hazard removal should Shiftry choose to run Defog. If you really struggle with Fighting types you could run Psychic for decent damage or Flame Charge to act as a sweeper late game.
gimme yama
Hariyama @ Assault Vest
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Bullet Punch
- Knock Off
- Earthquake/Fake Out
Seriously, these two as a defensive core synergise soo well, like really well. yama can take on mons that usually smack don pretty hard, and with guts it could even use status aimed at rhydon to its Advantage. with a great spread of resistances between them and with another mon like mesprit in the mix, its a core that isn't ezpz to break.
Vileplume @ Black Sludge
Ability: Effect Spore
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Giga Drain
- Moonlight
- Sludge Bomb
- Sleep Powder
So plume does a ton of stuff Rhydon benefits from.
1 Checks most grass types
2 Checks almost all water types
3 Checks most fighting types
4 Can act as a Knock Off absorber
Jumpluff
Ability: Infilitrator
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Sleep Powder
- Swords Dance
- Acrobatics
- Seed Bomb
Swords Dance Jumpluff is pretty rare nowadays but can make a pretty good partner for Rhydon. It can tank Water-, Grass-, and Fighting-type attacks quite well and force out their users with Sleep Powder or set up with Swords Dance. Meanwhile, Rhydon's Stealth Rock support is appreciated for securing KOs. It also doesn't mind Knock Off. x_x

Garbodor @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 248 HP / 200 Def / 60 Spe
Impish Nature
- Toxic Spikes
- Spikes
- Gunk Shot
- Focus Blast
-Another garbodor post, it covers rhydons fighting and grass weakness, while both fit great on bulky offensive teams. Its also a knock sponge,so rhydon wont lose its eviolite. Spread it standard, you can customize focus blast since rhydon already checks aggron.
