Round 20: Take One, Pass It Along
Building Condition: At least one Pokémon must have either a boosting move+Baton Pass or Speed Boost+Baton Pass on their set
Note: Pinch Berries cannot be the sole boosting element. Edit: Sub, Focus Energy or anything like that cannot be the only thing passed either.

We decided to choose this theme due to it being a very current issue in Policy Review and due to the ongoing NU suspect test on the combination of Speed Boost+Baton Pass. We are focusing on Baton Pass. We have deliberately passed* on allowing dry passing on this week's theme because we want to specifically focus on the ability to pass stat boosts with Baton Pass. Do you think it's a broken mechanic? Regardless of your stance, have fun this week. Best of luck!

Also please refrain from just C/Ping the BP core from that RMT unless you are njnp.
*Please free me from my impending madness

+3 252 Atk Mega Tyranitar Superpower vs. 252 HP / 88+ Def Ferrothorn: 520-614 (147.7 - 174.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

This is a broken fun core to use, where Celebi sets up a SD, passes it to Mega Tyranitar, Mega Tyranitar Dragon Dances letting it hit 1067 attack (bc its at +3), and then sweep. Aside from this however, Celebi is like the perfect partner for mega Tyranitar, as it checks an incredible number of its own checks such as Keldeo, Mega Lopunny, Breloom, Twave Thundurus, and Quagsire to pave the way for Mega Tyranitar's sweep later on.

Before I choose to submit a core, may I ask if Sub + Baton Pass will be allowed or can it only be a stat boosting move?

My core nomination is

Mega Tyranitar plus Gliscor

Gliscor (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Hyper Cutter
EVs: 252 HP / 184 Def / 72 Spe
Impish Nature
- Baton Pass
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance
- Roost

Tyranitar-Mega (M) @ Tyranitarite
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Taunt
- Thunder Punch
- Seismic Toss

With baton pass, swords dance and a varied move pool, Gliscor is perfect to baton pass to Tyranitar. With dragon dance, high attack and defense, and a varied physical move pool, I say this a core to be noticed. Tyranitar is a bulky pokemon that doesn't go down in one turn so with 2 times the attack on a varied move pool. Tyranitar can sweep with ease. The thunder punch and seismic toss is adjustable to the type of pokemon you are facing

With baton pass, calm mind and a varied move pool, Sylveon is perfect to baton pass to Tyranitar. With dragon dance, high attack and defense, and a varied physical move pool, I say this a core to be noticed.
Welcome to Smogon! Please make sure to follow the appropriate format when submitting to this project. You need to include an importable of the core (including appropriate pictures to make reading the thread easier) and justification for why the Pokémon work together well and the way that the core functions, and it should be around three lines minimum (there is leeway on this; just make sure it's a decent description). A recent post which is a good example to follow is this post by Monkey Smurf. It doesn't need to be as detailed as it is in that post (it'd be great if it was though!), but it gives you an appropriate format to follow when posting.

Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 148 Def / 108 Spe
Bold Nature
- Recover
- Baton Pass
- Giga Drain
- Nasty Plot

Keldeo @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Justified
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Scald
- Secret Sword
- Hydro Pump
- Hidden Power Electric

Basically the function of this core is that celebi passes a nasty plot boost to keldeo whereas possible. Keldeo has a scarf equipped as it is going to be hitting hard regardless of specs or not factoring in the boost, might as well provide speed control so that it can clean up lategame. What's unique about celebi is that it merits the bulk to be able to take some hits, whether it be super effective or not. Although there are pursuit trappers running around in this current meta, keldeo scares them away because they would not like a hit from it's main STAB attacks. But yea everything is pretty straight forward, last slot on keldeo can be tailored to your discretion. Whether it be hidden power electric for bulky waters, hp flying for bulky grasses or even hp ice for some dragons like latis. But celebi for the most part is a good water switchin as it can absorb scalds with ease and when they burn (which is inevitable) it has natural cure so it can pivot in and out. Once again celebi passes the required boosts, and then keldeo threatens opposing team due to its natural high special attack + the factored in boost, along with its high speed due to choice scarf. Fun core overall, and hope you enjoy c:.

Lopunny @ Lopunnite
Ability: Limber -> Scrappy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Return
- High Jump Kick
- Power-Up Punch
- Baton Pass

Weavile @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpDef / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Ice Shard
- Icicle Crash
- Knock Off
- Pursuit

Mega Lopunny is one of the most threatening pokemon in the tier, destroying offensive teams with its high speed and perfect STAB coverage. However, it struggles with common defensive pokemon such as Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Skarmory, as well as bulky Psychic types like Slowbro. Power-Up Punch can let it muscle past these, but it usually takes big damage in the process. However, if it can Baton Pass the boost from PuP to Weavile, those checks can be weakened while keeping Lopunny healthy to continue in its role as a lightning-fast wrecking ball.

This core requires a bit of scouting to reach its maximum potential, otherwise it gets stuck in 50/50s depending on the opposing set. For example, Weavile can beat either Defensive or Scarf Landorus-T, but only once you know which set it is.

The thing that makes this core nice is that it isn't totally reliant on passing boosts to function well. Baton Pass can be used even outside of passing stat boosts, namely in allowing Lopunny to bait in Lati@s for Weavile to Pursuit-Trap (hence why Weavile has Pursuit > Low Kick- besides, Lopunny handles Heatran well enough for both of them).

In addition to supporting Lopunny, Weavile receives a fair bit of support from it's bunny friend. Lopunny pressures mons like Heatran and Scizor (while boosting in their faces) and muscling through even physically defensive Clefable (and if you're really being cheeky you can PuP boost on Clefable before mega evolving because of Limber blocking T-Wave).

Diancie-Mega @ Diancite
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Moonblast
- Diamond Storm
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Rock Polish

The idea for this core came from this Pokemon World Cup match, so props to the dude there.

As for the details: Outside of covering its weakness to water and ground, Celebi's role here is to pass boosts to Mega Diancie. This is done via CM and the item Weakness Policy, which gives you +2 in attack and special attack after being damaged by a super effective move. Celebi has many weaknesses and is quite bulky, so it's usually able to tank most SE moves and pass the boosts afterwards. For example, consider some of the things Cele tends to draw in: Torn-T and Talon. Celebi can stomach a Hurricane, U-turn, and Brave Bird from them and then pass to Mega Diancie, who does a good job threatening those Pokemon and other threats disliked by Celebi (like Tran and Tar). Once in with the boosts, Mega Diancie can possibly RP up and go for a sweep.

Mega Diancie is a good recipient of Celebi's boosts for a few reasons. As mentioned earlier, it's able to threaten a good number of Celebi's common switch ins, namely flying and fire types. It's blessed with Magic Bounce to protect itself against annoying status like paralysis and poison. Mega Diancie also has access to a speed boosting move to fully take advantage of the boosts being passed, and respectively abuses the +2 in SpA and Atk with Moonblast and Diamond Storm. Further, Mega Diancie becomes rather bulky after being passed some CMs, being able to take attacks like Keld's Scald (as shown in the replay) and RP up after. Although its resistance to Talon's and Sharp's priority helps, it's still vulnerable to priority from Pokemon like Mega Sciz. This is why the core is normally paired with Keld, who is another good receiver of Celebi's boosts.

Anyway, BP isn't a very consistent strategy so the idea behind this core and a good number of others won't always work in practice. The core has its flaws and isn't perfect, but it's still fun to mess around with and can have devastating results when pulled off successfully as the replay showed.

I don't have much time so here is a simple rundown. This core is designed for wall-breaking potential. Gliscor checks all that Kyurem can't take but not everything same with Kyurem. It is very simple yet not reliable you set up on many mons with gliscor for example Landorus-T or Hippo in order to have a very hard-hitting Kyurem.

Description:

Well, here's the strategy: I thought about this core for this week because of Mega-Lopunny high speed and nice coverage and because the most common Celebi's switch-ins are perfect to make MLop able to abuse of the boost given by Baton Pass + Swords Dance. In fact, the most common threats Celebi has to deal with are often Steel Types like Heatran or Ferrothorn or Flying Types like Tornadus-Therian and Talonflame; I can take a hit at full life by these two threats and I can pass my boost on MLop, a faster answer to them. This MLop set doesn't have the Ice coverage because with the +2 boost it's not neeeded and especially because the Quick Attack helps Lopunny against stuff like Talonflame that can damage a lot this core without it. Also, Celebi can be pretty annoying for the Bulky Ground Types that often check Lopunny like Hippowdon.

My vote is for 3 & 4

Also JosephCottone I omitted your core. The core itself had a host of issues such as your moveset choice that invalidated it as a legitimate core for the project. Don't be discouraged though! Take a look at the other nominations before you vote and strive to follow their example.

Ya fsr -Magic- did the voting but didn't update the title .-.

Anyway w/e it's over now. The winner this week is Loveless Rhapsody so congrats (I don't need to do a vote tally to see that as literally every vote had that core in it lol). It will now be added to the hall of fame!

Round 21: Under-Appreciated
Building Condition: At least one Pokémon must be tiered in BL or below

Many Pokémon which do not receive enough usage to be OU are very good in this metagame, so we are celebrating that this week. I expect a lot of cores this week as there are lots of options to pick from, so go nuts!

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
IVs: 29 HP
- Close Combat
- Extreme Speed
- Iron Tail / Crunch / Bullet Punch
- Swords Dance

This is a pretty neat core that fits on ho, and really shows off the wallbreaker + sweeper mechanic quite well. Despite having obvious synergy just by typing, gardevoir does a great job of breaking down physically defensive pokemon like landorus-t, as well as stuff like breloom which has fighting type priority both of which can be problematic for luke to deal with. In addition to this, garde lures in stuff like jirachi, spdef skarm, and chansey which are (depending on their moveset but usually/sometimes) total setup fodder for luke. Inner focus or steadfast luke is preferred here to help set up on scarf jirachi and lure mega lop, but justified can work as well to nab an attack boost off bisharp.
