PU Oricorio-F (Mini-Analysis) [QC 2/2] [GP 1/1]

birb -mz

[OVERVIEW]

Oricorio-F at first glance might seem usable, seeing as it's one of the few Fire-types in the tier and it has great STAB moves in Hurricane and Revelation Dance, along with Calm Mind to boost. Unfortunately, using Oricorio-F means giving up using Oricorio-E or Oricorio-G, which have significantly better defensive typing that notably don't cause them to take 50% of their HP from Stealth Rock. It also lacks much in the way of coverage against its checks such as Regirock, and is easily revenge killed by Pokemon such as Lycanroc and Dodrio thanks to its low bulk. This low bulk combined with Oricorio-F's typing also makes it hard to set up with. Even in terms of offensive Fire-types, Combusken, Turtonator, and even Simisear are better options because they have better coverage overall and can still set up like Oricorio-F can.

[SET]
name: Offensive Calm Mind
move 1: Calm Mind
move 2: Hurricane
move 3: Revelation Dance
move 4: Roost / Hidden Power Grass
item: Flyinium Z
ability: Dancer
nature: Timid
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

This set attempts to set up and sweep utilizing Oricorio-F's STAB combination, seeing as its only niche over other Flying-types is its ability to reliably hit Pokemon like Togedemaru on the switch. The overall worse defensive typing compared to Oricorio-G or Oricorio-E makes this set not very viable in the current metagame. Combusken, Turtonator, and Simisear are also better alternatives to this set.

[OVERVIEW]
Oricorio at first glance might seem usable, seeing as it's one of the few Fire-types in the tier and it has great STAB in Hurricane and Revelation Dance, the latter of which can break through certain Flying-type checks like Togedemaru, (this detail is more of a set detail kinda thing)along with Calm Mind to boot.(boost) Unfortunately, using Oricorio means giving up using Oricorio-E or Oricorio-G, which have significantly better defensive typing that notably doesn't take half health from Stealth Rock. It lacks much in the way of coverage against its checks, and Fire STAB is not much to brag about in PU where it isn't necessarily needed, since it overlaps with types like Ground or ironically Flying in terms of coverage. (Fire stab is fine imo, we banned so many fire types for a reason lol)Even in terms of offensive Fire-types, Combusken, Turtonator, and even Simisear are better options because they have better coverage overall and can still set up like Oricorio can.

[SET COMMENTS]
This set attempts to (Id insert 'set up and sweep' or something here, since that is what the set is doing)make use of Oricorio dual STAB, seeing as that is the only niche it has over other Flying-types, and its defensive typing is very poor. Taunt is another option Oricorio can use, (No need to mention OO)but it is overall less valuable than the other options and at that point you're simply better off using Oricorio-G or Oricorio-E. Combusken, Turtonator, and Simisear are also better alternatives to this set.
