The battle begins as p4r6g6 sends out Florence-Espurr and Sun WuKong-Chimchar, while S0L1D G0LD sends out Alien-Scyther and Onix Fenix-Onix. Espurr attempts to Fake Out Scyther, but its foe is too quick and creates a Protective barrier to block the attack. Onix then begins to Taunt Chimchar, causing it to trip Onix with a Knot made of Grass. Scyther then flies at Espurr and delivers a slashing attack before making an abrupt U-Turn and flying high above its starting position as Onix sets off an Earthquake that shakes the arena quite a bit. Espurr, however, doesn't particularly like this, and fires an Energy Ball at Onix as Chimchar conjures a Fiery kanji and launches it at Scyther, both attacks creating a blast of energy upon impact. Scyther then dives at Espurr once more and attempts to steal its item, but its attempts at Thievery are foiled when it finds that Espurr isn't holding anything, so it just strikes at it instead. Onix, who is starting to weaken, triggers a second Earthquake, but is then struck by another Energy Ball fired at it by Espurr, which explodes in a violent fashion that opens it up to being tripped up by another Grassy Knot tied by Chimchar, knocking it unconscious.
