I have been battling with Eevees since RBY were out (hence the name); and every few generations I always look forward to the new evolutions coming out. I would like some constructive criticism on the current Eevee Team I use in Pokemon X. All Eevee's are perfect IV Trained (5 IV's [With the exception of Jolteon]) and have won fairly consistently, but I'm sure they could use a much needed upgrade. So here goes:
Vaporeon @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EV's: 252 Sp Atk. / 252 Sp Def. / 4 HP
Nature: Calm
-Surf
-Ice Beam
-Wish
-Protect
I usually switch Vaporeon in on water moves if there's an obvious one coming or any weaker special attacks. He is used to take a chunk out of the enemies teams with decent type coverage and a guaranteed free heal with wish/protect.
Jolteon @ Focus Sash
Ability: Volt Absorb
EV's: 252 Sp. Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Nature: Modest
Thunder Wave
Thunderbolt
Shadow Ball
HP: Ice
This is usually my lead pokemon usually designed to scout and slow down enemy teams before they can get started. If it's not a pokemon he can OHKO or it's not a ground pokemon I will usually paralyze it then switch to a better counter. He's also used to protect Vaporeon switching in to take the electric attacks.
Espeon @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Bounce
EV's: 252 Sp. Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Nature: Timid
-Psychic
-Dazzling Gleam
-Grass Knot
-Morning Sun
Standard Special Sweeper set I kept Grass Knot due to him being the only one on the team able to take down bulky water types usually one hit. He's usually switched in on walls or set-up opponents due to Magic Bounce.
Umbreon @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
EV's: 252 Def / 252 Sp. Def / 4 HP
Nature: Impish
-Curse
-Payback
-Wish
-Protect
Partially used as a scout but mostly brought in on enemy walls giving it time to set up with curse and wreck enemy teams with payback restoring health when necessary.
Sylveon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Pixilate
EV's: 252 Sp. Atk / 252 Spd / 4 Sp. Def
Nature: Modest
-Moonblast
-Shadow Ball
-Hyper Beam
-Draining Kiss
Sylveon takes use of it's hidden ability when he's about to die as a last resort with Hyper Beam. Otherwise standard Choice Scarf set with Draining Kiss for healing.
Flareon @ Leftovers
Ability: Guts
EV's: 252 Def / 252 Sp. Def / 4 Atk
Nature: Impish
-Will-O-Wisp
-Sunny Day
-Protect
-Dig
I believe Flareon is the most underrated of the Eeveelutions. Sure he's not able to do much with his amazing attack stat but I have annoyed the heck out of more opponents with this moveset than ever. Sunny Day is for Leafeon. But mostly his job is to cripple the enemy with Will-O-Wisp and then either stall them out with Protect/Dig or force the switch.
Leafeon @ Lum Berry
Ability: Chlorophyll
EV's: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 Def
Nature: Adamant
-Swords Dance
-Leaf Blade
-X-Scissor
-Aerial Ace
The Lum Berry I know seems random but after so many matches I always began to notice Leafeon was taking the most status effects of any other Eevee on my team. Thanks to Sunny Day from Flareon, Leafeon usually goes first and hits hard. Due to EV's in Speed he can usually do good even if Sunny Day doesn't go off as planned.
In Closing:
So the overall dynamics of my Eevee Team is typically to start with Jolteon to scout out enemy hazards from the start. If no Ground types come along or something that can be OHKO'ed I'll typically paralyze their starter and take it from there. Espeon, Leafeon, Sylveon are my main attackers with Umbreon setting up on enemy Walls or Stallers; but overall both Umbreaon and Flareon usually find use near the end of the battle when the enemy is low on pokemon remaining to try and stall out their remaining pokemon. Again I am open to criticism and your opinions. Please tell me what you think would help benefit the team or what I'm doing right.
Thanks,
Eevee
