-So Magiana (screw that English name) is officially confirmed as a mythical

-It has connections to Azoth, which does seem to have some sort of link to the games

I'm starting to think Magiana will, in fact, be a Gen VI mythical that will be available in Z (or whatever the next game will be called). There seems to be some sort of connection going on with the current games.

About it being a possible Gen VII mon, the evidence is stacking further against it. If it was a non-mythical, I could believe it to be the G VII poster child, but I sorta doubt Game Freak's gonna reveal a mythical before its respective generation (you "sorta" could obtain Manaphy before Gen IV, and D/P were well underway to release), especially since mythicals are usually kept secret from public knowledge until they're about to be distributed. Furthermore, the 3DS. Is at the end of its lifespan, and I imagine GF is saving Gen VII for the NX, meaning there's still a long way to go before we see a Gen VII pair off games. I don't think they'd show off a Gen VII mythical this early.

I really really really want some new pokemon. This being said I'd be okay with Gen 6.5 coming out with a handful of new pokemon (I mean, seriously what is a Mega?), and us waiting for another true Gen 7 release. Still, I'm unsure how they'd allow that to work. Megastones can't be traded so you can segregate new Megas easily. What would be interesting is to see how Gen6.5 mons would interact with Gen 6.0 games.

Frankly, this leads me to believe that GF will buck the trend and go the brand new Gen route without a 6.5 game. Making the newest games effectively Gen6.5+7. I mean, how neat would it be if we get two regions like in Gold and Silver? Kalos + this fantheorized UK-land?

Gen6 has given us some neat stuff but its pathetic number of new mons makes one weep.

Yes I do mean England, instead of the English language. Other "English" countries clearly have no monarchy.
I didn't use the word British because I do not want to include Scotland or Wales.
I don't think I'm using it wrongly.

You are using it one hundred percent correctly. There are the English, Scottish, and Welsh - all of them are of British citizenry.

I also think calling the 3DS a dead-system walking as really premature. There is no indication that is the case. At some point system improvements bring little more than barriers to entry.

Congrats to D_what for getting close to what it's English name was going to be.

So, Magearna. Meh, I really feel no different to the name as I did before. I'm just glad we have better art of it:

artificial_mythical_pokemon_magearna_2.jpg

Hm, didn't see the white crosses in its eyes before, also I'm questing what exactly are those dots on its face. I thought the middle was the middle hole of a gear and the bottom was a small mouth, but not seeing they're both different colors I'm rethinking things, mainly that it doesn't have a mouth (which I guess makes sense, a robot doesn't really need to eat). Also the middle gauge is red and blue.

Guys, while I know this thread is called Pokemon Z so pretty much evokes next game discussion, I think at this point we're beating a fainted Ponyta. At this point we've said all we can said about whether we believe there will either be a XY2/Z, a Gen 6.5, or them skipping to Gen VII. All we can do is just wait and see what they do in both what the next games will be and what they plan on doing with Magearna.

But wait, Magearna would surely be related to the next gen in someway. next Gen is numbered VII. Megearna is a mechanical Pokemon, one would say steampunk.... GUYS I KNOW WHAT GEN VII WILL BE BASED ON!

I'm not sure why people are so quick to jump on the "Z is going to be gen 6.5 with like a ton of new Pokémon" theory. The only solid evidence to back that theory up is that a new not Gen 6 Pokémon has been revealed for the next movie... just like every single other Gen before. What makes this so special? The fact that XY introduced so few Pokémon? It's pretty clear the reason for that is because we have literally 50 megas introduced in this gen on top of multiple new forms, the fact Gen 5 introduced far too many Pokémon, and there was so much else to stuff into Gen 6. The fact that Z is taking so long to be announced? That could be any number of reasons; the most convincing theory I've seen so far being Codraroll 's about NX messing with scheduling. I'm not saying it's impossible we'll get a slew of new Pokémon in Z, but I still see it as incredibly unlikely with little to no evidence and that people are jumping the gun way too early. If we do end up getting all-new Pokémon it won't be because of any evidence we've seen so far.

Apologies for a double post; but because this one contains news it's actually useful - here's the summary for the new movie.

As Ash and his friends journeyed onward, a huge Pokémon suddenly fell from the sky in front of them! Appearing from the cloud of dust whirled up from the impact of the fall was the mythical Pokémon Volcanion! It turns out that Volcanion, who lives in the secluded "Navel Plateau" together with Pokémon that have been injured by humans actually has an intense hate for all humans.

Volcanion completely ignores Ash and his friends, and attempts to hurry away, but for some reason Ash ends up getting pulled along with it. Volcanion makes a run for it, and Ash gets pulled along. Incredibly, without either of them noticing, the two ended up linked together by a strange chain! Even though they want to get loose from this chain, it proves impossible. With no other choice, Volcanion started running off towards "Azoth Kingdom" while pulling Ash along with it, constantly fighting with him on the way.

Meanwhile, Cabinet Minister Jarvis from Azoth Kingdom, a city of super-machinery where gigantic cogwheels are constantly rotating, has obtained the ultimate invention he has been searching for for so many years. It was the artificial Pokémon Magearna, which was born in the kingdom 500 years ago but since went missing, as well as the unknown power called the "Soul Heart" said to reside inside Magearna.

As Jarvis plots to use this power to rule the kingdom, Volcanion was attempting to retrieve Magearna, who got abducted from the Navel Plateau! "Ain't no way I'll ever forgive the humans!"

Will Volcanion and Ash manage to work together and save Magearna while linked together? And what is the true power the "Soul Heart" hides? It's time for the hottest battle in Pokémon history to begin!

I can't believe Jarvis is the main villain. Watch the epic shyamalan plot twist as Tony Starky was pulling the strings the whole time

Well Volcanion does look like Tony made an Iron Man suit for a tiger but made it steam powered instead of a core reactor.

So Megearna was originally from the Azoth Kingdom but had long since went missing from it. So my theory sort of still remains with it needed to keep the place functioning.

Though parts of this plot kind of sounds a few generation late. Volcanion not liking people as its a protector of a valley of Pokemon who were hurt by people? That's Gen V. The power being chased after called the "Heart Soul" sounds like a late HeartGold & SoulSilver reference.

Also wouldn't movie talk more go to the anime thread?

Get ready for Z hype? I'm not so sure anymore, my expectations have been shattered a few too many times unless I know for certain.

Wasn't there supposed to be some sort of plotline with Perfect Zygarde in the new movie? Is that just completely gone? lol

Could have been chopped out and transplanted into the anime (sort of a reverse GS Ball).

Also that could have just been something to hype us up for a new movie. Don't you remember how I think it was for "Zoroark: Master of Illusion" that the announcement trailer for it had Lugia and Ho-Oh battling (not to mention a later trailer showing Zoroark turn into an Evil-looking Ash even though it never did once in the actual movie (and wasn't evil)).

Masuda's Tweet about E3. It's in Japanese, so I can't read it.

Something brought up on Serebii's forums was that the last two times he showed up at E3, it was never for a game announcement; those had already happened by then. In 2013 he talked about new features added to X and Y (announced in January), while in 2014 he showed off a new trailer for ORAS (announced in May) and announced the release date.

he doesn't promise anything though.
The grammar is a bit confusing, but I think it says that he is not going.

I feel like. Magearma will be steel type because of it's magnet resemblance and name. It's possible it will be electric because of previous trends but seeing as it's going to be linked to Volcanion, in the next movie, it may be fire type as well.

OK, so it died down. Time to express how hyped I am for Magearna.

My only real problem with this thing is its english name. Everything else, I like about it.

I like its concept, I like its design, I'll probably like its typing, and I like its steampunk design. It's just plain adorable.

I'm not gonna express my speculation on the subject other than that I think it's gonna be part of a Gen 6.5 thing. Game Freak will probably do the same thing they did with ORAS, and not allow Pokemon introduced in Z to be used in battles with players with XY or ORAS.

As I already mentioned somewhere, I believe it will appear in the climax. I mean the Core Zygarde is already traveling with Ash & co. so I feel that the reason why it's not really a big thing in later trailers is because they think we're smart enough to realize that something big and climatic will happen and Squishy (or whatever you want to call him) will transform into Perfect Zygarde and save the day (or subsequently go berserk and require being calmed down by the Twerps). Either way, I don't expect him to play a pivotal role until near the end of the movie which, as you can tell from that trailer, is not something being shown regularly.

Wait, Zygarde was travelling with Ash? How?

It's been the core (hue) point of the new XY&Z series ever since it started over in Japan. It was tired and it fell asleep in Bonnie's bag or something, and throughout the adventures of Ash and company its backstory is expanded as Team Flare tries to find it.

There is also a second Zygarde Core owned by Team Flare. This one has a blue core in contrast to the first one's red core. They are trying to find each other and red core likes humans while blue core thinks they are putting Kalos in danger.

There's plenty of backstory already to build off in the anime so Zygarde's sudden exclusion in advertisements shouldn't bring that many red flags towards its absence in the movie yet. There's still a few months to go for the anime to create and expand on even more things.

Wait so Zygarde has been turned into a smaller object which can be transported? Mind blown....

Why do people find issue with Magearna's english name? It's phonetically the same as it's japanese name.
Magearna's kana, "マギアナ" uses the same syllables found in Klink's japanese name (Gear/Giaru, "ギアル") for the "gear" sound.
So even in japanese, it's meant to be read like "May-gear-nuh", but without an over-emphasized "r" like in Giaru. Giaru is actually more of a deviation from how a japanese person would pronounce it. "Gear" is a japanese word as well, and in kanji it's written like'
ギヤ" and is pronounced like "gi-ya", with no "r" sound emphasis.

Like Magearna.

We'll see how TPCi decides to pronounce it, but for now I'm breaking up the "gear" sound when discussing Magearna. I'm going for "MAYghi-are-nuh"

Could merely be phonetic associations. Magiana (Incorrectly pronounced maji) probably had people thinking of magic, or animes with the word magi in them, or idk, princess Diana? Whereas Magearna, while appropriate (and I kinda have to like it since I totally called it yeeeeeeahhh ) might be putting people in mind of names like, umm, Maggie, or Irma (?_?). Which are grand-aunt sort of names? Eh, that's my reasoning if I had it to begin with anyway. It's not a particularly aesthetically pleasing kind of name. (Not that a name has to be aesthetically pleasing to be valid. Machina + Gear is a perfectly Pokemon contraction. Also I love saying Machina. MAH-kee-na. Fun!)

Even if it's pronounced Maggie-Anna, it still may suggest Magia, because Magia is pronounced as Maggie-Ah in Japanese.

Also, Pokemon names can be a combination of up to 3 things.
