[OVERVIEW]

• Poliwrath's incredble offensive and defensive typing allows it to stand out in NU
• Defensively, it has an immunity to Water, and a resistance to Dark, Bug, Steel, Ice, and Rock
• This typing allows it to check many of NU's top offensive threats, such as Kabutops, Barbaracle, Liepard, and Klinklang
• Offensively, it has good coverage, with STAB moves that complement each other very well, in addition to STAB priority that allows it to threaten faster pokemon such as Tauros and Liepard
• However, Poliwrath's offenses are decidedly lackluster, with only base 85 attack and a mere base 70 Special Attack
• Despite all of Poliwrath's fantastic resistances, it has common weaknesses to Grass, Electric, Flying, and Psychic, which can be annoying to account for

• Scald is an excellent move with decent power and a chance to potentially cripple an opposing pokemon with a burn
• Hydro Pump can be used for more immediate power, but it sacrifices accuracy and a chance to burn
• Focus Blast is a very powerful secondary STAB move that hits most water resists for solid neutral or super effective damage
• Vacuum Wave gives Poliwrath STAB priority with which it can better check threats such as Kabutops
• Ice Beam nails Grass types such as Exeggutor and Vileplume looking to absorb a Scald
• HIdden Power Electric hits Mantine super effectively, which otherwise walls this set
• Earthquake can be used in tandem with Life Orb to 2HKO Lanturn
