Bouffalant @ Assault Vest
Ability: Soundproof
Happiness: 0
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Facade
- Frustration
- Earthquake
- Pursuit
It was made pretty clear that a lot of special attackers can threaten this core, just to name those that were mentioned Scarf Mime, Scarf Chatot, and Grumpig. Other threats to this core that weren't mentioned were mons like LO special Floatzel, Scarf Simipour, Kadabra, etc. Bouffalant is a great blanket check to all of these threats and with pursuit can break Kadabras sash and easily weaken many of the other mons I listed. Soundproof is a pretty obvious choice as this core has two great grass type checks but has a poor matchup against chatot.

I must admit that it took me longer than I wanted to make this post, but here:

So this core is pretty good at a few things. It can lure out a lot of very common bulky mons and wear them down, and it is good at creating momentum and holes to exploit. It is, however, weak to being outsped and can only really promise to weaken threats. So a good partner would be a mon that can use all of these factors:
Drifblim_XY.gif

Drifblim @ Liechi Berry
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 12 HP / 252 Atk / 32 SpD / 212 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Acrobatics
- Knock Off
- Destiny Bond/Baton Pass

Drifblim absolutely adores the list of mons that this core wears down: Vullaby, Audino, STUNFISK, Probopass...the list goes on. Once these mons are weakened/dead, Drifblim can easily sweep through the remaining parts of the opposing team. Drifblim hits very hard after the Liechi bonus and has the bonus of outspeeding just about EVERYTHING in the tier after Unburden activates. So with the core weakening down the opposing team and overclocking their shared answers and Voltturning into said Drifblim, Drifblim has plenty of opportunity to sweep.

Drifblim benefits from what the core does, but what does it add to the core? Well, the primary answer to this core (in the current meta) is a fast scarfer. If Drifblim activates Unburden, that answer of a fast scarfer no longer applies and is effectively a dead slot. As an added bonus: if Drifblim is able to create a Substitute before the opponent can bring in their scarf, the fact that the scarfer outspeeds is entirely irrelevant. Drifblim can just keep using Substitute until the Liechi activates and then proceed to KO the scarfer. In this case, the simple scarf answer has become a liability and setup fodder...something few mons can boast about doing consistently.

Drifblim is also able to come in on some attacks meant for the other members of the core: Drifblim can come in on Fighting attacks meant for Rotom-Frost and also Ground attacks meant for Monferno. Not only does this increased type synergy ease the burden on the other members, but it also creates more opportunities for Drifblim to come in. Drifblim also appreciates the fact that Rotom is able to tank many Electric and Ice attacks sent its way, as well as Monferno taking some Dark and Ice attacks for Drifblim as well.

This core is excellent for wearing down many of the popular defensive mons that the tier has and bulky checks in general, and Drifblim is great at cleaning many of the popular offensive mons that the tier uses. The combination of Drifblim and this core is too much for many current teams to handle.
