[OVERVIEW]

Quagsire possesses the rare ability Unaware, which allows it to beat the majority of setup sweepers in RU, including but not limited to Hone Claws Durant, Malamar, and Swords Dance Drapion. Furthermore, Quagsire has an excellent defensive typing that allows it to beat Fire- and Steel-types; it only has one weakness, to Grass. Due to its access to a reliable recovery move in Recover, Quagsire is able to stay on the field for long periods of time. Unfortunately, Quagsire's mediocre Special Defense greatly hinders it. Common Grass-type Pokemon in the tier such as Tangrowth and Virizion can also threaten Quagsire with ease, and Quagsire is very passive as a defensive Pokemon, which gives many threatening Pokemon in RU such as Sigilyph and Tangrowth a free switch most of the time. This, alongside Quagsire's lackluster Speed, means that it is very susceptible to Taunt, which can shut it down. In addition, Quagsire faces competition as a bulky Water-type from Alomomola, Seismitoad, and Jellicent.

Recover provides Quagsire with a reliable recovery move to heal off any damage that it takes from its foes. Earthquake smashes Rock- and Electric-types such as Tyrantrum and Jolteon. Toxic functions as a medium to wear down opposing walls and Grass-types that like to switch into Quagsire such as Alomomola and Tangrowth. Curse raises Quagsire's Attack and Defense but lowers its Speed. This allows Quagsire to take advantage of Pokemon that try to set up on it such as Hone Claws Durant, Dragon Dance Scrafty, Quiver Dance Venomoth, and Malamar and ensures that the former two, which have the ability to 2HKO an unboosted Quagsire, cannot beat it one-on-one. Scald is a secondary STAB move to try burning foes that attempt to switch into Quagsire. Ice Punch is an option over Scald and is recommended with Curse, as it has great coverage alongside Earthquake by hitting Grass- and Flying-types such as Virizion, Torterra, Sigilyph, and Braviary. Waterfall is an alternative over Ice Punch to have another powerful STAB move, especially after a Curse boost.

Set Details

252 EVs in HP maximize Quagsire's bulk. The Defense EVs ensure that Adamant Choice Scarf Flygon's Outrage and Durant's X-Scissor will not 2HKO after Stealth Rock damage. The Special Defense EVs ensure that Life Orb Houndoom's Dark Pulse will not 2HKO Quagsire. A Relaxed nature is used so that neither Scald nor Earthquake is weakened; Quagsire doesn't usually mind the Speed drop. An Impish nature can be used if Ice Punch is chosen to ensure that Quagsire can outspeed uninvested base 30 Speed Pokemon, such as Amoonguss and Mega Steelix. Unaware allows Quagsire to ignore stat boosts of setup sweepers, rendering them ineffective against it.

Usage Tips
========

Quagsire should mainly be used on balanced or stall teams. It should be noted that Quagsire is not meant to be sweeping teams with Curse but is instead meant to provide a way to capitalize on bulky setup sweepers to dent the opposing team. Players should prioritize on using Scald, as spreading burns can be greatly beneficial for the team. Quagsire should switch into Pokemon that it walls, such as Mega Steelix and Emboar. In a situation where the opponent brings in their bulky Water-type, try to predict them by clicking Toxic in order to wear it down. Using Recover is mandatory whenever Quagsire is low on health to ensure that it can beat setup sweepers more consistently.

Team Options
========

Because Quagsire is very vulnerable to status, clerics make for good partners. Aromatisse and Roselia can provide Aromatherapy support for Quagsire, and the former also has access to Wish. Roselia forms a solid defensive core with Quagsire, as it is able to deal with Grass-types such as Tangrowth, which annoy Quagsire, while Quagsire can beat Fire- and Steel-types such as Emboar and Durant, which plague Roselia. Quagsire appreciates Pokemon that can remove Toxic Spikes; Amoonguss is able to absorb Toxic Spikes on the field, Hitmontop is able to spin away the entry hazard, and Togetic is able to clear it away with Defog. Pokemon that can sponge Grass-type attacks, such as Weezing and Escavalier, work well with Quagsire. The former is able to provide Toxic Spikes support, while the latter can set up Swords Dance on the Grass-type Pokemon that cannot touch it. Wallbreakers such as Flygon, Exploud, and Meloetta can heavily hinder Quagsire, so partners to handle them are helpful. Togetic can deal with Flygon, while Exploud and Meloetta are easily handled by specially defensive Mega Steelix and Bronzong, though they have to be careful of the coverage moves that these Pokemon may carry. Even though Quagsire has investment in Special Defense, it is still heavily pressured by powerful special attackers, so special walls pair well with it. Accordingly, specially defensive Mega Steelix, Mega Audino, and Cradily are great partners. Cradily and Mega Steelix also have the additional benefit of providing Stealth Rock support. Quagsire synergizes with these Pokemon pretty well. It can aid Mega Steelix in dealing with non-Hidden Power Grass Houndoom, which would otherwise heavily damage Mega Steelix with Fire Blast. Mega Audino benefits from Quagsire being able to handle Hone Claws Durant, which it is otherwise helpless against. Cradily appreciates Quagsire's ability to beat Swords Dance Drapion, which Cradily cannot do much against.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Quagsire can utilize Encore to halt bulky setup sweepers without relying on the use of Toxic or Curse. Amnesia raises Quagsire's subpar Special Defense by two stages. Yawn is an alternative to force out the likes of Virizion or Amoonguss, two very common Quagsire switch-ins. Quagsire can use Counter to beat physical wallbreakers one-on-one, as it can take a hit from them and retaliate to OHKO them. A Choice Band set is an option that makes full use of Quagsire's decent Attack stat.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass-type Attacks**: Grass-types such as Tangrowth, Amoonguss, Trevenant, Virizion, Rotom-C, and Torterra are able to come in for free, as they can take any hit from Quagsire except for a boosted Ice Punch and retaliate with their 4x super effective STAB attacks. The former three are able to reliably counter Quagsire, as they have some means of recovering HP as well as naturally high bulk. Furthermore, most of these Grass-types are special attackers, which means they do not mind a Scald burn. Pokemon that carry a Grass-type coverage move, such as Hidden Power Grass Jolteon and Energy Ball Sigilyph, can also easily OHKO Quagsire.

**Jellicent**: Jellicent deserves a special mention for being one of the best counters to Quagsire. Although it does not like taking a Toxic, Jellicent can beat Quagsire one-on-one, as it can use Taunt to prevent Quagsire from recovering, can burn it with Will-O-Wisp, and can proceed to heavily damage it with Hex when Quagsire has a status condition.

**Toxic**: Quagsire does not mind burn or normal poison too much, as it can just recover off the residual damage; however, Toxic and Toxic Spikes are very annoying to Quagsire, as the damage builds up every turn, which puts Quagsire on a timer and reduces its walling capabilities.

**Wallbreakers**: Powerful wallbreakers can muscle past Quagsire due to the massive offensive pressure they carry. Life Orb Hitmonlee, Choice Band Tyrantrum, Flygon, Gallade, and Scrafty are able to easily 2HKO Quagsire with their powerful onslaught of attacks. It should be noted that these Pokemon cannot safely switch into Quagsire, as a Scald burn can cripple them for the entire match. Sigilyph is able to consistently switch into Quagsire lacking Ice Punch because its ability Magic Guard renders it immune to damage from status ailments and entry hazards, and it can proceed to heavily damage it.

**Special Attackers**: Due to Quagsire's average Special Defense, it is very vulnerable to powerful special attackers. Meloetta, Exploud, Samurott, and Delphox can dent Quagsire heavily with their powerful attacks and leave it severely weakened.

  • Wallbreakers can prove to be an annoyance to Quagsire so Choice Scarf pokemon who can outspeed and heavily dent these wallbreakers make excellent partners. Tyrantrum, Rotom-C, Flygon, and Emboar are great examples that can handle the wallbreakers.
I don't like this line. You should stick to pairing Quagsire with other walls that can cover the wallbreakers that beat it, not offensive Pokemon since Quagsire is pretty much a full stall kinda Pokemon.

this goes for the rest of team options as well. most if not all of the partners should be defensively orientated. there's very few offensive pkmn that can work on quagsire builds; they're mostly choice scarf users if anything.
Done
Edit: i added a few things in Team options if thats alright with you

ok. could've sworn i gave a check for this already, whoops

i'd highlight that, beyond mentioning grass-types (which, kinda obvious), quagsire is moderately passive as a defensive 'mon, being significant for the reason that it lends free turns to stuff like tangrowth and sigilyph rather often, which can be pretty dangerous without the builder specifically acknowledging these threats (being contrasted to stuff like jellicent, that can keep them a bit more honest via hex). i'd also /maybe/ go with malamar > venomoth as a mention of what this stops, just given that it isn't really 'developed' enough of a 'mon in this meta to say what's common (and lo variants have a p.solid shot at 2hkoing), whereas malamar is a notable issue for teams you'd be slapping quag on, but you could probably stand to keep it if you see fit. just my thoughts on it x-x

i'd highlight that, with curse, quagsire can also more realistically check more aggressively-teched sweepers, such as lo durant / scrafty (who can deal ~60% to the standard quag spread w/their strongest attacks). furthermore, this also prevents malamar from rest stalling out your attacks, and /probably/ winning 1v1. mention sigilyph as an ip target, or at least something to pressure a roost from it (you can stay in maybe once v.a non-eball variant, but generally this match-up is bad for it no matter what).

i'd probably go with highlighting tangrowth / amoonguss / trevenant in grass-type mentions for being ones w/more serious longevity switching in, then putting sigilyph as a highlighted 'wallbreaker', just b.c it would make more sense imo; given quag will often be played on stall-heavy ish, the 'mons with greater self-sustainability should really be regarded above the ones that just pressure the 'mon, but don't love getting scald burned, taking hazards, having to switch in again later w/o recovery, etc.

but yeah, this looks nice, gj boss

Scald is used as a secondary form of STAB move to which burns (make it "to try burning". "to burn" is better than "that burns" anyway because there is no "primary STAB move that burns," which is implied when using a wording like that one, and Scald is still no Will-O-Wisp lol) opponents foes that attempt to switch into Quagsire. Life Orb Hitmonlee, Choice Band Tyrantrum, Flygon, Gallade, and Scrafty are able to easily 2HKO Quagsire with their powerful onslaught of attacks easily. It should be noted that these pokemon Pokemon cannnot cannot safely switch into Quagsire, (AC) as they do not like taking a Scald burn which can cripple them for the entire match. Sigilyph is able to constantly consistently ( :] too bad this analysis didn't have an assure / ensure mixup, would've liked to see you catch that one too) switch into Quagsire bar an lacking Ice Punch due to because its ability (RC) Magic Guard, that allows it to be renders it immune to damage from status ailments and entry hazards, (AC) and it can proceed to heavily damage it.

**Special Attackers**: Due to Quagsire's average Special Defense, it is very vulnerable to powerful special attackers. Meloetta, Exploud, Samurott, and Delphox can dent Quagsire very hard heavily with their powerful attacks to and leave it very severely (too much "very" in this paragraph imo) weakened.

GP 1/2

Mr. U, solid check overall; nearly all the changes you made were excellent, but be sure to look carefully over the things you missed :] (especially the objective ones; commas, redundancies, improper word usage, relative pronouns and such) I've explained a bunch of them in the comments, but feel free to hmu if you want me to elaborate on something !_!

GP 2/2

Moves
========

Set Details
========

A Relaxed nature prevents Scald and Earthquake from being weakened (hrmm I'm not a fan of the wording here bc it's a little vague; are you alright with "A Relaxed nature is used so that neither Scald nor Earthquake is weakened"?); Quagsire doesn't usually mind the Speed drop.

Usage Tips
========

In a situation where the opponent brings in their bulky Water-type, try to predict them by clicking Toxic in order to wear them it (to make it clearer that it's the bulky Water-type and not the opponent) down. Using Recover is mandatory whenever Quagsire is low on health to ensure that it can beat setup sweepers more consistently.

Team Options
========

Pokemon that can sponge Grass-type attacks, (AC) such as Weezing and Escavalier, (AC) work well with Quagsire. The aforementioned Togetic can deal with Flygon, while Exploud and Meloetta are easily handled by specially defensive Mega Steelix and Bronzong, though they have to be careful of the coverage moves that these Pokemon may carry. Even though Quagsire has investment in Special Defense, it is still heavily pressured by powerful special attackers, so special walls pair well with it. Accordingly, (HAH i knew tdp put this in) specially defensive Mega Steelix, Mega Audino, and Cradily are great partners. Cradily and Mega Steelix also have the additional benefit of providing Stealth Rock support. Quagsire synergizes with these Pokemon pretty well. It Quagsire can aid Mega Steelix in dealing with non-Hidden Power Grass Houndoom, which would otherwise heavily damage it Mega Steelix with Fire Blast. Mega Audino benefits from Quagsire being able to handle Hone Claws Durant, (AC) (keep comma but remove comment) which it is otherwise helpless against. Cradily appreciates Quagsire's ability to beat Swords Dance Drapion, which Cradily cannot do much against.

Other Options
=============

===================

Pokemon that carry a Grass-type coverage move, (AC) such as Hidden Power Grass Jolteon and Energy Ball Sigilyph, (AC) can also easily OHKO Quagsire.
