Other RMT Battle Spot Hoenn Starter Core

Don't see a lot of people doing this but after spending some time, I decided to use the starters as my core since the fire-water-grass triangle often covers all the types. I am using 2 megas, not to mention 2 others that could potentially mega evolve, to keep my options open since I only choose 3 pokemon for battle.

P.S. Sorry for lack of pictures.

overview:
BLAZIKEN
SWAMPERT
SCEPTILE-MEGA
AEGISLASH
SALAMENCE-MEGA
WEAVILE

Blaziken @ Life Orb
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stone Edge
- High Jump Kick
- Flare Blitz
- Protect

Everyone's favorite roast chicken, covers kang well, hurts zard Y a lot with stone edge. Protect is to guaranteeing an outspeed for zard

Types covered: DARK, FLYING, GRASS, FIRE, BUG, STEEL, ROCK, NORMAL, ICE

Swampert @ Black Belt
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Rock Slide

This set is just nice coverage, stops talonflames that don't run will-o-wisp, walls rotom wash easily (non will-o-wisp variants of course). Also dents landorus and majority of dragons since the commonly used ones (sally and chompy) are 4x weak to it. Could still pull the OHKO even at -1 Attack :D

types covered: ELECTRIC, FIRE, POISON, GROUND, STEEL, ROCK, DRAGON, ICE

Sceptile-Mega @ Sceptilite
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Giga Drain
- Substitute
- Dragon Pulse
- Focus Blast

The mega of the trio is chosen! seriously though, wouldn't be anywhere near as competitive without the mega evolution. Yeah it brings along that 4x ice weakness but let's be honest, it doesn't make a difference when it's sceptile, it's redonkulously frail. Dragon STAB allows it to dragon pulse every dragon that isn't d-nite with scale or goodra will die. Also need to mention, that speed is ever so useful, it will outspeed sally unmega'd (so you will rip it up nice and easy). when it forces switches, substitute is great as it allows for an extra turn to attack, very useful against suicune as giga drain will heal you back up to pull another sub off later :)

types covered: WATER, STEEL, ROCK, GROUND, NORMAL, DRAGON

Aegislash @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpD
Gentle Nature
- King's Shield
- Flash
- Shadow Sneak
- Shadow Ball

Just a space filler, lol jokes I need it. Since this is Battle Spot and sylveon and gardevoir are everywhere, I have the option to not go suicide mission with blaziken and sceptile. I chose it as a special attacking aegis because I need more special attackers on the team to break through some physical walls (Slowbro...).

Types covered: PSYCHIC, FAIRY, GHOST, ROCK

Salamence @ Salamencite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Facade
- Return
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake

K this is back up mega dragon, this team just needs some raw power and more 4x weaknesses. yup salamence fits that role pretty well. Choosing to use facade as it is very often a burn victim or target of paralysis, not to mention status absorber now it uses facade. Using return is to good, no recoil like double edge, almost as much power, lives longer. Slightly. That's good right?

Types covered: DRAGON, STEEL, BUG, GRASS, FIGHTING, ROCK, FIRE, ICE(kinda)

Weavile @ Focus Sash
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fake Out
- Icicle Crash
- Knock Off
- Low Kick

Many people will believe this to be lead but they are misled. This fella is for mopping up what the team didn't finish off with it's speed and element of surprise >:D

Types covered: GRASS, ROCK, FIGHTING, STEEL, DRAGON, GROUND, FLYING, PSYCHIC, GHOST, DARK

Major flaws in the team: lack of fairy coverage, and massive weakness to it. by saying massive I mean it. Luckily all pure fairies have very low physical defense while the higher defence ones have other weaknesses to exploit. (that was my reasoning to leave that massive hole) From experience there are only 4 troublesome fairies being used. Azumaril, sylveon, clefable and gardevoir. These can be harmless if playing correctly.

Very defensive/ bulky teams also give this team headaches as I lack taunt and attack boosting moves

anyways, that's it from me today, Thanks for reading :D

Hey there channerz, always good to see more Battle Spot players!

Not to take away from what the good people do here in the RMT forum, but there aren't a lot of BSS players frequenting this place, so if you'd like some more specialised help, feel free to post in the RMT Thread we have in our Battle Spot forum.

Having a look at your team and it looks OK... When I do these things I prefer to just look at how individual Pokemon can be optimised so I'll do what I can for you!

Blaziken looks alright. I personally prefer the special / mixed attacker with Hidden Power Ice, but if you want to use the physical attacker that's fine too. I would change High Jump Kick to Low Kick since a random miss / Protect / Ghost switch in can spell doom for Ken, especially in 3v3 where every move counts! Superpower is also a legit option but does lower your stats so that's a thing.. I'm not a huge fan of Stone Edge, you can't deny its power, but the accuracy is kinda shaky for my liking. You can keep it or run Rock Slide, both are good, however Thunder Punch is my preferred option to hit the Water-types (as well as Flying types that your Rock move would hit).

Your Swampert's moveset looks fine, but it's probably more suited to a Mega Swampert set with rain support. Expert Belt is a pretty subpar option in my opinion. A cool set for regular Swampert is one that I was introduced to by GroudonEmpire;

Swampert @ Sitrus Berry / Rocky Helmet
Ability: Damp
(or Torrent works too. Both serve little purpose)
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Yawn
- Scald
- Roar

So this lets you set up Rocks and then force switches with Yawn and Roar to rack up the damage. Scald can be swapped for almost any of his offensive options, but the burn chance can be really helpful! Just a note on your original set; 248 and 8 are inefficient EV numbers (unless you have an even IV) at level 50, so the original EV spread should be either 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD or 244 HP / 252 Atk / 12 SpD.

Sceptile doesn't look too bad. Substitute seems like a waste since he can't be T-waved or Spored, and doesn't care about burn or Poison. You could replace Substitute with Hidden Power Fire or Earthquake for extra coverage. Giga Drain is alright, however Leaf Storm is crazy powerful and can be used to nuke a lot of stuff. The SpA drop is annoying though.

Aegislash is wicked in BSS, and the Weakness Policy special attacker (or THE CRUMBLER) is probably my favourite set. It needs to be optimised / rebred though! Firstly, Gentle is a terrible nature, make him Quiet instead! Then fix up the EV spread to be more efficient (like I explained earlier). The EV spread should be 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpA. Also I'm assuming that Flash is actually Flash Cannon. If it is actually Flash then please don't use it...

A few changes for Salamence; make him Adamant, put the 4 EVs into Def, and use Double-Edge > Return and Dragon Dance > Dragon Claw. Using him is as simple as Dancing on something that he isn't scared of and spamming Double-Edge / Earthquake accordingly. You're right that he's a magnet for status, and Facade is my favourite option for the 4th slot so keep it in!

Weavile is an interesting mon, not one that I've used but I know ethan06 has a little bit. Fake Out is indeed good on a lead, but if you plan to clean up with him then I would drop it for Ice Shard. The priority is really helpful, and offers more utility on a clean up mon than Fake Out would provide.

Anyway that's about all the help I can offer right now. I encourage you to drop by the Battle Spot forum and check out the thread I linked you to / all the other ones we have going!
