Sandstream rush

Hello everyone, I'm Jolteonx, a fellow pokemon competative battler. I made a team, and it's been doing pretty well and I have a rank of 1541 on pokemon showdown, which isn't a bad ranking in my opinion. However I feel this team can still be improved, so lets get into this RMT.

Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 Atk
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Slack Off
- Whirlwind
- Stealth Rock

Hippowdon is of course mt sand streamer for this team, and it is also a mixed wall and my rocker. I have earthquake to help hit things like heatran hard. I have slack off to help it heal and stall out pokemon to life orb and sand storm. Roar helps hippowdon phaze out my oppodents team and stops pokemon from setting up on it. I chose hippowdon over tyranitar due to it being more bulky and able to survive most attacks from other weather starters.

Stoutland (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Return
- Superpower
- Ice Fang
- Fire Fang

Stoutland is my sand rusher on this team. While it's no excadrill, I can use a choice band on it to increase it's power from the get go and take out things like scizor, gliscor, ferrothorn, and fortress. It can also help with choice scarfers, as it can outspeed the ones with lower base speed. Return gives it its best neutural move, super power is for the pink blobs, tyranitar, and steel types that aren't neutural towards it. Fire fang is for steel types 4x weak to it. Lastly ice fang hits gliscor hard. I had a hard time filling this spot, and I believe this spot will probably be the one changed by something.

Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 Atk
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Spikes
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball
- Power Whip

Heres my ferrothorn, the physical wall of the team. I chose rocky helmet over lefties since leech seed can heal me better anyways, and the only grass type I run into a lot is breloom, which this can sorta counter, but not without taking a lot of damage. I put spikes on here in case I get a free turn to set up a layer because my oppodent can't hurt it or they are protect spamming. gyro ball and power whip help me deal damage to enemies (I'm talking to you gastrodon). with rocky helmet, iron barbs, and leech seed, physical attackers without earthquake or fire or fighting moves aren't lasting long., in fact they may even be healing ferrothorn if they do stay in.

Latios (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Modest Nature
IVs: 30 Atk / 30 Def
- Psychic
- Draco Meteor
- Surf
- Trick

Latios is the scarfer and tricker on my team. It's high speed added to the scarf as well creates a latios that is hard to outspeed. Draco meteor is a hard hitting move nothing wants to switch in on. psychic is there for STAB with out dropping it's special attack. surf helps deal with steel types. Trick helps me cripple walls I'm having trouble beating.

Scizor @ Leftovers
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Bug Bite
- Pursuit

Scizor is my physical sweeper, pursuit trapper, and piroity user of my team. It can scare out pink blobs and swords dance up, then go on to take a few pokemon out if all the fire types are gone. This can also set up on ferrothorns who decide to stay in so it can get 4x attack on them and OHKO the ferro with bug bite. then it can bullet punch everything else on the other team and take out all who don't resist it.

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 232 SDef / 248 HP / 28 SAtk
Calm Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Pain Split
- Will-O-Wisp

Probably one of the most trolly pokemon in OU, its rotom wash. Rotom Wash is my special wall for this team. This can help me scare out politoed and burn what comes in next or just switch out to my hippowdon or something else. this can take a hurricane and either hydro pump or volt switch to my hippowdon next turn. It also resists ground moves and can pain split to heal and hurt another pokemon, especially the pink blobs.

And theres my team! I plan to work on a threat list to post on here as well. Please give me advice on how to make this team better than it is, and it needs improvements, and I'm happy to test out some sets on this team.

Dr Ciel

Banned deucer.
Hello.

Cool sand team you're using here, with some creative sets, I like it. This team seems to be very well put together, so props for that and I hope that with this rate, it can become even better. Alright, kicking things off, I think that you should change Protect on Hippowdon in favour of Whirlwind. With Whirlwind on Hippo, he gets a great phasing move that can wear down opposing teams with entry hazards on the field in order for Stoutland to sweep. Moving on, I would suggest running a Life Orb on Alakazam, in place of your current item of Choice Scarf. Alakazam is already fast enough and I do believe that he Speed ties unscarfed Tornadus-T (correct me if I'm wrong), plus with Life Orb, your damage output is increased by 20%. Next, I suggest running an EV spread of 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd over your current spread. These EV's make Scizor somewht faster than what might threaten him. Lastly, I would change your EV spread on Rotom-W to a slightly better one of 248 HP / 28 SpA / 232 SpD over your current standard spread. The most important stat on this spread is the 28 Special Attack EV's, which allow it to OHKO Max HP Gliscor, who would otherwise Toxicstall it. Well, that's all I can say for now. I hope my advice helped. Have fun and good luck with your team!

~Dr Ciel~ (The doctor is OUT)

@ Dr Ciel: Thank you for responding to my RMT :). I agree about hippowdon replacing protect with whirlwind, I'll give it a try. However I have a scarf on alakazam to take out opposing scarfers as well, and to take out threats in case sandstorm isn't out such as tornadus-T and scarfers. I'' give the Ev spreads for rotom-W and scizor a try after I finish editing my threat list. Again, thank you for the rate!

Tyranitar is actually able to take hits from other weather starters much better than Hippowdon because of the special defense boost it gets from sandstorm. However, Hippowdon does have a recovery move, so that might make up for added damage for you. I think that a better reason to use Hippowdon is the lack of a 4x weakness.
I will agree that Alakazam should have another item. It already outspeeds most of OU (although it doesn't outspeed Tornadus-T, Dr Ciel) and you have a faster revenge killer already in Stoutland. Life orb is a great option to abuse magic guard, and so is focus sash, so I recommend that you try one of those two items.

Hey, cool Sand team!

It is quite solid; as with Sand up your chosen sweeper, Stoutland, can punch holes in teams, so props for that. However, I think there still might be some problems for you in Hyper Offensive teams- which commonly run many fast, powerful attackers like Gengar, Tornadus, or Landorus. Also, Fighting spam teams could also be a bit problematic- you don't have a fighting resist (besides Alakazam, who can't take hits very well) which makes pokemon like Choice Band Terrakion / Choice Scarf Keldeo decent threats to your team. Breloom looks as if it can do some major damage too; it can easily come in on Hippo / Ferro / Rotom / Scizor, put something to sleep, an then wreck your team with its coverage. To help you combat Fighting types first, I think it's a good idea to use Choice Scarf Latios over your Alakazam.

Latios @ Choice Scarf
Timid / 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Draco Meteor / Psyshock / Surf / Trick

Latios is a better scarfer than Alakazam for a few reasons. First off, you don't really lose any speed- as you outspeed all but a select few uncommon pokemon with your Scarf. You also gain quite a lot of power- as Latios's Draco Meteor is a lot stronger than Alakazam. Latios is also a lot bulkier- it can come in multiple times throughout the match to constabtly keep fighters at bay with its Psychic STAB. Also, while this may not be the biggest threat, Latios also helps you handle Sun teams, which, if you lost the weather war, would definitely be a problem. Latios handles HOffense well too- outspeeding all of the common scarfers of OU, and beating Dragons/Fighters/Gengar. Draco Meteor is again for powerful STAB, and Psyshock is secondary, KO'ing Venasaur and Fighting types. Surf is for coverage; it hits through steel types and can hurt Rain teams a lot. Trick is for support- as it can cripple any wall that your team might have trouble breaking past.

Cool team!

@TooMuchSugar Thanks for the rate, but I'm going to try that Latios set. However if it dosen't work I'll try the life orb idea.
@Electrolyte: Thanks fo the rate and the set idea, I'll go ahead and try it,

Hey! Nice Team So I'm Gonna Try With My New System
Hippowdon:5/5
I believe you are using Hippo correctly in this situation. Set up Rocks, heal when needed, and then just spam STAB Earthquakes. I do agree with the Whirlwind change as well although you can just use Roar instead.
Stoutland:4.5/5
I used him on my sand team and he works very well. There is one minor suggestion I have. I would put those 4 evs into HP. It just helps being a sweeper. Other then that, no issues here.
Ferrothorn:5/5
Very basic Ferrothorn set but it gets the job done. Nothing to say here.
Alakazam:3.5/5
Used right but I would agree with the Latios switch completely so I'm not even going to say anything about Alakazam. Latios would be a lot better in my opinion.
Scizor:4/5
Again quite basic but gets it done. First, I would change evs to 244 Hp 252 Atk and 12 Spd just for the boost.
Rotom-W:4.5/5
Now becoming a staple on sand teams, I feel the way you use it helps fix a few things that your team has trouble with. I second the ev change idea and thats really it.
Total:26.5/30
Very well done. You are in the range where your team is good but just needs minor changes. Address these issues and you will have a great team. Hope I helped!

@Pokemasta77: Thanks for the rate! I like the system you used, and latios is more useful than alakazam now looking on the team I set up now. I'll have to edite my rmt in a little bit with the new team data

Hi, nice Sandstorm team!

Seeing your Hippowdon, would invest the Evs otherwise. I suggest to change its evs in these 252 HP / 132 Def / 124 SDef with Impish nature. This way you get a solid defense and an equally decent special defense.
For Stoutland, I suggest to remove Ice Fang in favor of Pursuit, and I'll explain why, with Purusuit different Pokémon can prevent them escaping once it enters Stoutland, including Jellicent, Celebi, Landorus, Politoed (above), who by Choice band kill them. Ice Fang guess it was there for the Dragon and Landorus fundamentally, however, the latter considers them already eliminated with Return, which is the main STAB Stoutland, while Landorus that almost certainly will attempt to escape or kill you with Pursuit preventing the escape or to play it safe and use Return with which you kill him for sure.
For Ferrothorn advice to change the evs in 252 HP /168 Sdef / 88 Def, otherwise it is not able to collect well special moves, so you can count on for Breloom Latios, Stoutland and even Scizor. For Latios on that set you should Psyshock> Psychic, for some reason, the first of which is Blissey with Psychic would be tickled, while Psychock makes more damage, the second is for Calm Minder type Keldeo, which after a few Calm Mind would not be killed by a single Psychic of Latios, then Psychock> Psychic.
For Scizor Roost or Superpower > Pursuit Pursuit since it runs well on the set Choice Band, not on the Swords Dancer, also Pursuit, I've recommended on Stoutland, on purpose. That is all.
Good Luck, with your team!

Hi Jolteon, I love Sand and this is cool!

I suggest you do Scizor most offensive and with the Set that I will give later. Thus, increases the offensiveness of your team even going to hit those who are making it difficult the sweep of Stoutland.

RotomW, you do it with this spread: 252 SDef - 130 HP - 128 Spd - Calm, with this you can overcome Breloom and burn it since it is a annoying Treath for your team.

While for Ferrothorn, you put the standard spread (aka with some evs in SDef): 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 Spd - Relaxed

As the saying Mr.Green put Psyshock> Psychic to Latios.

Gengar is another annoying Treath so you can put SpecialHippowdon> DefenseHippo with this spread: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD - Impish.

Scizor @ Life Orb
4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant
- Bullet Punch
- Quick Attack
- Superpower
- Sword Dance

Hope I helped you, good luck.

Hey,

Cool team you have here so props for it anyway I have some advice to give you so let's go with the rate!

First of all, Gengar can be problematic for this team. It defeats Hippowdon and Ferrothorn easily and you haven't a solid switch into it. Therefore, I suggest you to change Ice Fang into Pursuit on your Stoutland. Pursuit allows to trap-kill Gengar after a small damage so it's fine for your team. Ice Fang, otherwise isn't a very useful move, you have already Choice Scarf Latios, Ferrothorn and Hippowdon to deal with the dragon-types. Then, on Scizor I'd use Superpower, replacing Pursuit. You have already Pursuit on Stoutland so the same move on Scizor is quite a useless move. Superpower otherwise allows to hit steel-types like Heatran and Ferrothorn which would create it some problem. Finally, I suggest you to use Psyshock, replacing Psychic on Latios. Psyshock allows to hit harder Blissey, Chansey and Calm Mind Keldeo too which can be quite problematic for your current team.

Good luck, hope this helped!

Thanks for the rates guys!

@Mr. Green: I'll go ahead and try your hippowdon EV's you gave me, I changed ice fang to pursuit, psychic to psyshock and pursuit on scizor to super power.

@D i a bl o: I'll try your rotom and scizor sets, however hippowdon is not a pokemon I'd use against gengar anyways, as I'd rather use somethign like my rotom or stoutland or even scizor for it.

@Alexander.: Thanks for the rate, and as I sadi, I'll use the things you said to improve my team.
