Scarf Larvitar(QC 3/3) (GP 2/2)

[SET]
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Rock Slide / Stone Edge
move 2: Earthquake
move 3: Superpower
move 4: Crunch / Pursuit
item: Choice Scarf
ability: Guts
nature: Jolly
evs: 36 HP / 244 Atk / 36 Def / 188 Spe

Moves
========

Rock Slide is Larvitar's preferred Rock-type STAB move because of its higher accuracy and PP along with the additional chance to flinch it has. Stone Edge, despite being more powerful, has lower accuracy as well as a low PP of only 8; however, it OHKOes Drifloon and 2HKOes bulky Vullaby, which Rock Slide fails to do, and has a high critical hit ratio. Earthquake is Larvitar's strongest STAB move that deals good damage to neutral foes, and it notably OHKOes Chinchou's Berry Juice set and 2HKOes its RestTalk set. Earthquake also OHKOes Ponyta and Pawniard after Stealth Rock damage and 2HKOes Skrelp, Omanyte, and Honedge, as well as Foongus after its Eviolite has been Knocked Off. Superpower provides coverage for popular bulky Pokemon in the metagame like Munchlax, Porygon, and Ferroseed, as well as Scraggy, all of which are 2HKOed by Superpower. Crunch is used mainly to handle Pumpkaboo-XL, which is 3HKOed by Crunch; it also hurts other bulky Ghost-types, such as Frillish. Crunch is also a reliable way to OHKO Drifloon after Stealth Rock damage, since both of Larvitar's Rock-type STAB moves have a chance to miss. Pursuit can be used to get chip damage on Fletchling and damage Pokemon that are likely to switch out of Larvitar, such as Gastly. It can also be used to activate Guts by making contact with Pokemon with Flame Body, such as Larvesta and Ponyta, both of which are likely to switch out of Larvitar as well. Pursuit can also be used to break Abra's Focus Sash.

Set Details
========

The given EV spread, nature, and Choice Scarf maximize Lavitar's Attack and Speed, allowing it to outspeed the entire unboosted metagame and potentially OHKO Ponyta, Chinchou, Archen, Larvesta, and Drifloon, as well as 2HKO Pokemon such as Vullaby, Skrelp, Honedge, Ferroseed, Scraggy, Munchlax, Porygon, Omanyte, and Croagunk. Guts lets Larvitar absorb status, such as burn and poison, and boost its Attack by 1 stage. The remaining EVs are distributed to HP and Defense to increase Larvitar's longevity and to slightly decrease the chances of it being KOed by priority moves like Sucker Punch, Mach Punch, and Vacuum Wave after it has been weakened by chip damage from the burn.

Usage Tips
========

Larvitar should never be left to face Water- or Grass-types unless it can KO them, as even the weakest STAB Grass- or Water-type moves can OHKO it. It should switch out immediately if faced with an Aqua Jet user, such as Corphish or Carvanha. Switch Larvitar into a Will-O-Wisp to make it even more effective offensively. If there are Flying-types or Pokemon with Levitate in the opponent's team, predict carefully to avoid incorrectly locking Larvitar into Earthquake and wasting a turn having to switch it out. As this set lacks bulk and may be weakened by chip damage from burn or poison, it's important to make accurate predictions when switching it in, especially against Pokemon that have access to coverage that might KO Larvitar. Larvitar could be switched into Poison- or Normal-type moves, which it resists. Weakened Pokemon that could be switching out can be trapped using Pursuit.

Team Options
========

It is essential to pair Larvitar with Pokemon that resist Grass, Water, and Fighting, so Croagunk, Foongus, Sewaddle, and Cottonee make for ideal partners, as they resist all three types. Other checks can also be used, such as Vullaby, Ponyta, and Larvesta, which resist Grass; Snubbull, Gothita, and Spritzee, which resist Fighting; and Snivy and Ferroseed, which resist Water. Pokemon with access to Knock Off also make for good teammates, as they weaken foes for Larvitar. Physical attackers that do not like being burned or are walled by Drifloon are good partners as well, as Larvitar does not mind either of those. Likewise, Pokemon that prefer not facing Fire-, Flying-, Steel-, and Rock-types and want them out of the way can benefit from Larvitar's presence, as it can beat such foes easily.

Overview:
Mention that it suffers competition from Cranidos as a Choice Scarf Rock-type.
e: this shouldn't actually have an overview

Moves:
As obvious as it may be, explain Stone Edge's advantages (more power).
Mention that Rock Slide has more PP and a flinch chance.
Mention that Crunch is a more reliable way to take down Drifloon.
Mention that Pursuit can break Abra's Focus Sash.

Set Details:
Don't include all of those, just the important ones where max Attack makes a noticeable difference.

Usage Tips:
Mention Flying-types in the Levitiate point.
Mention using Pursuit on frail Pokemon that are likely to switch out on Larvitar, such as Fletchling and Gastly.

Checks and Counters:
Make sure to format these properly.
Give examples of Grass-types that beat Larvitar, and Pokemon that commonly run Ice-type coverage moves.
Add a section on physically bulky Pokemon that can wall Larvitar if it isn't statused, such as Porygon and Spritzee.

e: this shouldn't have overview/other options/checks and counters

Set Details:
For the write up, condense the calcs.
What do SpD EV's do for the set; quick calcs show it doesn't help at all, save Floon's 130 powered hex, which kill's w/ burn anyway, and some stuff from Porygon such as +1 Tri attack. 36 in HP is probably more useful since it means a little more chip damage is needed before Fletch's acro or Gunk's vac/sucker will KO.

Usage Tips:
Mention how burns make Larv more prone to chip damage, meaning switch ins need to be precise.

Team Options:
Split up Team Options so you have SR users, Knock Users, and resists as separate points. Make sure to note how Gunk and Foongus resist/are immune to all 3.
Add things that hate Floon in team options.

- Stone Edge's downside is the low accuracy, not the 8 PP.

Stone Edge, despite being the more powerful move, has lower accuracy and alsos well as a low PP of only 8; however, Stone Edgeit OHKOes Drifloon and 2HKOes bulky Vullaby, which Rock Slide fails to do, and has a high critical hit ratio. Earthquake is Larvitar's strongest STAB move that deals good damage to neutral foes, and it notably OHKOes Chinchou's Berry Juice set and 2HKOes its RestTalk set. Earthquake also OHKOes Ponyta and Pawniard after Stealth Rock damage, and 2HKOes Skrelp, Omanyte, and Honedge, as well as Foongus after its Eviolite has been Knocked Off, and 2HKOes Skrelp, Omanyte, and Honedge. Superpower provides coverage for popular bulky Pokemon in the metagame like Munchlax, Porygon, and Ferroseed, as well as Scraggy, all of which are 2HKOed by Superpower. Crunch is used mainly forto handle Pumpkaboo-XL, which is 3HKOed by Crunch, and; it also hurts other bulky Ghost-types like, such as Frillish. Crunch is also a reliable way to OHKO Drifloon after Stealth Rock damage, since both of Larvitar's Rock-type STAB moves have a chance to miss. Pursuit can be used to get chip damage on Fletchling and damage Pokemon's that are likely to switch out of Larvitar, such as Gastly. It can also be used to activate Guts by making contact with Pokemon with Flame Body, such as Larvesta and Ponyta, both of which are likely to switch out of Larvitar as well. Pursuit can also be used to break Abra's Focus Sash.

Set Details
========

The given EV spread, nature, and Choice Scarf maximize Lavitar's Attack and Speed, allowing it to outspeed the entire unboosted metagame and get potentially OHKOs against Ponyta, Chinchou, Archen, Larvesta, and Drifloon , as well as 2HKOs against the likes of Pokemon such as Vullaby, Skrelp, Honedge, Ferroseed, Scraggy, Munchlax, Porygon, Omanyte, and Croagunk. Guts lets Larvitar absorb status like, such as burn and poison, and boost its Attack by 1 stage. The remainder ofing EVs are distributed to HP and Defense to increase Larvitar's longevity and to slightly decrease the chances of getting itit being KOed by priority moves like Sucker Punch, Mach Punch, and Vacuum Wave after it has been weakened by chip damage from the burn.

Usage Tips
========

Larvitar should never be left to face Water- or Grass-types unless a potential KO is at hand becauseit can KO them, as even the weakest STAB Grass- or Water-type moves can OHKO Larvitar. It should switch out immediately if faced with a Pokemon with access to Aqua Jet user, such as Corphish or Carvanha. Switch Larvitar into a Will-O-Wisp to make it even more effective offensively. If there are Flying-types or Pokemon with the ability Levitate in the opponent's team, predict carefully to avoid incorrectly locking Larvitar into Earthquake and wasting a turn having to switch it out. As this set lacks bulk, and may be weakened by chip damage from burn or poison, it's important to make accurate predictions when switching it in, especially against Pokemon that have access to coverage that might KO Larvitar. Larvitar could be switched into Poison- or Normal-type moves, aswhich it resists these types. Weakened Pokemon that could be switching out can be trapped using Pursuit.

Team Options
========

Physical attackers that do not like being burned or are walled by Drifloon are good partners as well, asince, Larvitar does not mind either of those. Likewise, Pokemon that don't prefer not facing Fire-, Flying-, Steel-, and Rock-types and want them out of the way can benefit from Larvitar's presence, as it has the means to beat these foescan beat such foes easily.
