STAB Updates

It still seems overly powerful.
In what way? How is it overpowered? Give reasoning as to -why- this is the case.

That said, I am on Gerard's side here. The basic drill here with typing is to follow in-game where possible & then (if necessary) tack on any other things alongside it. We could, however, add the Toxic thing to Toxic's description instead of Poison's STAB descriptor if you do not want the Poison STAB descriptor too look more clunky, but... w/e.

I second deadfox on this. If anything, I'd be all for removing the majority of STAB-related bonuses we added that are not also in-game effects (such as Grass-type immunity to powder moves). This really strikes me as that kind of "let's do this just because we can" thread, and I can't really see the justifiability of most of these boosts.

Some of you say that these are to balance types, but frankly I don't see it. Pokemon types are balanced in this generation like it never happened before. I can't really see any type which screams "underwhelming" to a point we may need to buff it - more than we may feel the need to buff, say, the whole slew of outclassed moves such as Mega Punch, Splash and so on.

Before any further discussion, I'd like to see someone telling me why are we doing this in the first place. Someone may say "Well, that's because Electric and Grass and Ghost have some added effect which other types don't", but this is as farfetch'd as saying "Ground and Normal have a 100 (102) BP physical STAB move with no drawbacks and other types don't" or "Psychic has a lot of variety in dual types and Fairy or Normal don't". I think we should just stick with what Gamefreak gave us.

Because the existing STAB descriptions were terrible and desperately needed to be reworded.

Though, this topic really doesn't need to be open anymore. Deck went through and made alterations to the STABs which can now be found both in the omnibus thread and in the Data Audit Tables, so this thread no longer serves a purpose.

I'll give it 24 hours for any last qualms before closing.
