[STABmons] Hoopa-U

[OVERVIEW]
  • Incredibly high attacking stats, and powerful moves to back it up.
  • Alongside this, Hoopa-U is no slouch in terms of SpD, allowing it to soft-check some threats to hyper offense teams.
  • Places insane pressure on the opponent's team no matter what set it runs since it can effectively stallbreak, wallbreak, and threaten everything else.
  • Also creates mind-games with the opponent as to whether or not Sucker Punch is run, or even when it'll be used.
  • However, Hoopa-U offers zero defensive synergy whatsoever, and it's hard to get in because of this.
  • Although Hoopa-U is incredibly hard to switch into, it's hard for it to stay in against much since its main attack lowers Defense and it's not bulky.
  • Average Speed means that Hoopa-U must rely on Sucker Punch if it wants to strike first, and even then Extreme Speed beats it out.
  • Speaking of Extreme Speed, with how common it is, it's hard for Hoopa-U to find a solid way to get in an attack some times.
  • Hoopa-U's matchup versus hyper offense is somewhat poor as it can often struggle to do much due to reasons listed above.

Moves
========
  • Hyperspace Fury hits incredibly hard, even harder than Knock Off. And it's coming off of a 160 base Attack. Nothing wants to switch into this!
  • Gunk Shot nails the Fairy-types that pose a threat to Hoopa-U, notably Clefable.
  • Drain Punch is great to hit Dark-types, most notably Tyranitar and Bisharp which could otherwise switch in on either of the other attacks.
  • Switcheroo is great to pass off its Choice Band to defensive Pokemon and can really catch a lot of opponents off guard.
  • Parting Shot is a great momentum grabber since it can be used as a Hoopa-U check switches in, and provides set up opportunities for teammates.
  • Sucker Punch is a powerful priority move, though being locked into it is very risky.
  • Pursuit can also be run if your team desperately needs it, and it's great to catch switches, but it leaves Hoopa-U very vulnerable afterwards.

Other Options
=============
  • Assault Vest – lets Hoopa-U pseudo-check Thundurus and Heatran in a way, but it's really 'meh' overall.
  • Nasty Plot – ferocious when it gets set up, but it's hard pressed to set up and still left outsped by too much to be effective.
  • Choice Scarf / Agility – boosts Hoopa-U's Speed, but it's really not necessary when Sucker Punch exists. Removes mindgames though.
  • Fire Punch – hits Skarmory and Ferrothorn for straight up damage versus wearing them down gradually.
  • Ice Punch – hits Hippowdon, Landorus-T, and Garchomp, for very solid damage. Overall good coverage.
  • Knock Off – trades a tiny bit less power for removing items. Can be used if your team really appreciates the support.
  • Hypnosis – catches opponents off guard. Accuracy prevents it from being reliable, but when it works, it works.
