WEEK 3
BRUTE BONNET
Pokedex_Image_Brute_Bonnet_SV.png
Back to paradox Pokemon this week with Brute Bonnet ! It seems to have found its rightful place here in RU where it comfortably sits in A rank on the Viability Rankings. Brute Bonnet is pretty bulky and hits really hard being the third strongest physical attacker in the tier. What really makes him shine though is Spore. Spore is and always will be an extremely good utility move granting various opportunities for Brute Bonnet itself or for another Pokemon of the team. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to share your most creative Brute Bonnet sets and explain them in order to contribute to the growth of the RU metagame.

Brute Bonnet @ Booster Energy/Life Orb/Heavy-Duty Boots/Eject Pack

Tera Type: Dark/Fighting/Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 12 Def / 244 Spe

Sun setter Brute Bonnet

Brute Bonnet @ Heat Rock
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Fire if you run Tera Blast, otherwise you can choose between Grass/Dark/Fighting
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sunny Day
- Seed Bomb
- Crunch
- Close Combat/Tera Blast

The general idea is to use the many switch-outs Brute Bonnet provides with the potential threat of Spore (that we don't run, but the opponent doesn't know this!) in order to set-up the Sun for your teammates, but also for yourself because you activate your own Protosynthesis. This way, Brute Bonnet dishes out some damage.
Is not mandatory to Terastalize to use properly this set, but Tera Fire allows to prevent being burned.

wooo might as well post something for once, and it's also a sun abusing set wahoo

Brute Bonnet @ Loaded Dice
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Fire/Dark
EVs: 176 HP / 252 Atk / 80 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Seed
- Sucker Punch
- Spore
- Growth

i've been using this a lot, paired with Sunny Day Grafaiai (which i forgot to sub last week but eh). The main gist is to simply grab a chance to set up under the sun and start sweeping with Bullet Seeds and Sucker Punches. Hardly anything can withstand +2 Atk Protosynthesis Sucker Punch, and usual slow walls would suffer against Bullet Seed or being used as Spore setup fodder.

Tera Fire is usually what I go for to avoid burns, but Dark can guarantee Sucker Punches will hit harder and grab more kills. You may also use Grass if you fancy stronger Bullet Seeds. 80 speed EVs are enough to outspeed walls or those that generally don't have speed investment (like Sylveon which can kill Brute Bonnet with Hyper Voice), so it can put the rest in HP investment and live more hits.

Outrage Bonnet

Brute Bonnet @ Booster Energy
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Dragon / Dark
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Crunch
- Sucker Punch
- Close Combat / Seed Bomb
- Outrage

This set could be used mainly in Hyper Offenses, where Booster Energy Bonnet works the best. With the boost on its attack, Booster Energy allows Bonnet to run Jolly over Adamant, which is huge to outspeed things like Altaria which often hits 210 to outspeed Adamant Bonnet. This way you can lure the opposing Altaria or Dragalge without needing to rely on sleep turns, while also not wasting a slot to put Spore, since in offensive teams you wanna break the opposing team as fast as possible. Luring Altaria might be huge later in the game depending on your teammates, like Heracross or Barraskewda. Tera Dragon makes outrage a guaranteed KO against Altaria, while also allowing Bonnet to have a powerful STAB against teams that don't have a Fairy. However, Crunch into Outrage is also a guaranteed KO, so Tera Dark might be better in general.

252 Atk Protosynthesis Tera Dragon Brute Bonnet Crunch vs. 252 HP / 180+ Def Altaria: 138-163 (38.9 - 46%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 Atk Protosynthesis Brute Bonnet Outrage vs. 252 HP / 180+ Def Altaria: 276-326 (77.9 - 92%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 Atk Protosynthesis Brute Bonnet Crunch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Altaria: 129-153 (36.4 - 43.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 Atk Protosynthesis Brute Bonnet Outrage vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Altaria: 260-306 (73.4 - 86.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 Atk Protosynthesis Tera Dragon Brute Bonnet Outrage vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Altaria: 390-458 (110.1 - 129.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 Atk Protosynthesis Brute Bonnet Outrage vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Dragalge: 366-432 (109.5 - 129.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

(Crunch is already a 2hko on Dragalge, but you could use Outrage if you need an OHKO)

Might not be the best set ever but at least it seems fun

Defensive Brute Bonnet

Brute Bonnet @ Leftovers
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 252 HP / 212 SpD / 44 Spe
Careful Nature
- Spore
- Seed Bomb
- Sucker Punch
- Synthesis

Although Brute Bonnet is mainly played Offensive, it has many assets to shine as a Defensive Wall. We can note the access to Spore and Synthesis and an excellent Bulk of 111-99-99. Its Typing is also interesting, allowing it to Check many Pokemon. Tera Poison gives it a Fairy and Fighting resist, and allow it to Check Salazzle. 44 Spe allow it to oustpeed Sylveon.

Look at the calcs, they are very impressive.
- +2 252 SpA Mismagius Draining Kiss vs. 252 HP / 212+ SpD Brute Bonnet: 142-168 (33.3 - 39.4%) -- 16.9% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
- 252 SpA Gardevoir Moonblast vs. 252 HP / 212+ SpD Brute Bonnet: 228-270 (53.5 - 63.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
- 252 SpA Salazzle Flamethrower vs. 252 HP / 212+ SpD Tera Poison Brute Bonnet: 100-118 (23.4 - 27.6%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery
- 252 SpA Tatsugiri Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 212+ SpD Brute Bonnet: 151-178 (35.4 - 41.7%) -- 84.5% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Sunny Synthesis Bonnet

:brute bonnet: :heat rock:

Bulk Bonnet (Brute Bonnet) @ Heat Rock
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Sunny Day
- Crunch / Spore
- Synthesis
- Seed Bomb

Yo whats up it's me with another Theorymon Next Best Thing submission

most likely worse version of some of the defensive sets here, but could be interesting. The idea is that you switch in safely (either via a slow parting shot from a 0.5x spe revavroom or something else) and you set up sunny day. If you want to take an alternate route, you can switch out Crunch for Spore to get more defensive omph. Spore gives you extra turns to set up, but could get risky if they switch into an offensive threat. So if you want to go full offense and hit stuff like arborliva and other common grass resists like bronzong, then Crunch is the way to go. After you set up sunny day (8 turns of it thanks to heat rock), you then gain access to 3/4 recovery with synthesis. Unfortunately, Brute Bonnet does get 5 moveslots, and thus cannot use Growth to complete the sun synergy. It could maybe be fitted on, but I don't think so with synthesis there. Anyways, after you set up sun, you also activate protosynthesis, and boost your Atk, and with the defensive EVs, you can take a few hits as well from common special attackers. It sadly cannot win against anything that 2HKO's you, since you move slow as molasses, but against 3HKOs you stand a pretty good chance, since, you set up sun on the first turn in, and then can recover to almost full-ish since you get essentially 2 turns to work with. After that it can do Brute Bonnet things like stab proto-boosted seed bomb and crunch. Do take of note the fact that gardevoir shreds this, unless you get the jump on them with tera water, but that might not be the wisest nor most useful tera, depending on team composition, so run this with care.

WEEK 4
TOEDSCRUEL
Pokedex_Image_Toedscruel_SV.png
Staying in the Grass department with Toedscruel ! Arrived from UU with the June shifts, numerous people were anxiously hoping for it to come to RU. Now that it's here, what are you going to do with it? With its impressive Speed stat of 100, it can outspeed mons such as Arcanine, Krookodile, and Revavroom. It also brings a ton of status utility with the infamous Spore but also Toxic and Tspikes (Stun Spore could be a stretch but hey it's the Next Best Thing so why not). Talking about utility, moves such as Knock Off, Spikes and Taunt can be mentioned as well as the holy Rapid Spin. But let's not forget that Toadscruel also has a pretty high Sp. Att. and access to Leaf Storm and Earth Power to really pack a punch. To make it short, Toedscruel shines through its speed and utility moves but can be very versatile when taking its offensive options into consideration. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to share your creative Iron Thorns sets and explain them in order to contribute to the growth of the RU metagame.

Toedscruel @ Leftovers
Ability: Mycelium Might
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Water/Steel
Timid Nature
- Spore
- Knock Off
- Leaf Storm / Earth Power
- Rapid Spin / EarthPower

Toedscruel @ Leftovers
Ability: Mycelium Might
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Water/Steel
Timid Nature
- Spore
- Spikes
- Leaf Storm / Earth Power
- Rapid Spin / EarthPower

Submission deadline: Sets should be submitted by 11:59 pm GMT on Friday, June 9th,

Offensive Toedscruel
Toedscruel @ Expert Belt
Ability: Mycelium Might
Shiny: Yes
Tera Type: Ice
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Earth Power
- Leaf Storm / Giga drain
- Tera Blast
- Knock Off / Toxic Spikes/ Rapid spin

"Man its such a Shame that altaria walls both toeds stabs :( :(, wait whaaat??"

So basically the set's Idea is to take advantage of toedscruel's offensive typing and get the most of It, I have to run more calcs but It can OHKO some mudsdale sets from full, OHKOs altaria with Tera Ice(biggest enemy for It offensively) and deals a Ton of damage to a lot of important mons, Grass stab is up to ur choice and last move can be built around it, since toeds is a toxic spikes setter which scares poison types due to ground type, and spin and knock are 2 incredible utility tools

And ye thats it

Klefki at Home
Toedscruel @ Mental Herb
Ability: Mycelium Might
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Spikes
- Taunt

Uh I have no idea why you would ever want to use this set over actual factual Klefli, but it does exist if you really need your dual screens+ spikes setter to not be a steel fairy type for whatever reason. Mental Herb is the item here cause I have no clue what I am doing but also it does let you get up 1 layer of screens or spikes past prankster or fast taunts, or 2 screens + spikes against a slow taunt

I dont think there's ever a reason to use this set, but if someone ever finds a team for it be my guest.

LO Offensive Toedscruel

Toedscruel

Toedscruel @ Life Orb
Ability: Mycelium Might
Tera Type: Ice
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Earth Power
- Giga drain
- Tera Blast
- Spore

STAB Giga Drain + 252 SpA EVs + Life Orb is something to be taken in account for both damage and recovery. In particular, Life Orb gives that useful extra power in order to achieve 2HKO and OHKO with much more ease. No Leaf Storm because it ruins the SpA and Toedscruel doesn't have moves such as U-turn/Flip Turn.
I think that Life Orb is (in general) a superior option over Expert Belt because the former item is more flexible than the latter one because it doesn't need the move to be super-effective onto the target.
Tera Blast Ice + Life Orb is a gooooooood coverage move.
The 4th move is Spore because it is simply too good to be ignored, and can punish some switch outs.

Genshin Fan (Toedscruel) @ Leftovers
Ability: Mycelium Might
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Acupressure
- Giga Drain / Earth Power
- Earth Power / Dazzling Gleam
- Spore

Have you ever wanted to gamble in pokemon? Are you tired of tried and true strategies always being consistent and working out in the right hands? Well have I got the set for YOU! The main idea is that you switch in, spore, and with the extra turn(s) available, you start hitting acupressure. With enough luck, you'll get the boosts you need to function! The actual attacking moves can be switched around pretty freely with whatever you want to hit more, with dazzling gleam being there to try and hit Altaria a bit harder. Giga Drain is there as an option to try and heal back chip damage, as it's a pretty big detriment to this strategy. All in all, it does require some specific condition to be met, such as the opponent not having something that can switch in to spore, getting lucky, and being able to avoid being blocked by resists, but all in all this is a funny set to run.

FUCK IT WE SUBSEED

ArboLIVA 2.0 (Toedscruel) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Mycelium Might
Tera Type: Steel / Grass
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Leech Seed
- Knock Off / Earth Power / Giga Drain
- Protect / Substitute
- Spore

Ever wanted a more annoying Arboliva that's easier to deal with? Now here's the set for you!
Keep in mind this set kinda works if you've got a team that backs it up.

This set has one goal.
Be as fucking annoying as possible with Spore, Knock off, and Leech.
Spore does it's perfect thing, sending em to sleep, When your foe's asleep, Pray they don't wake up and launch a leech, then, you knock of and sub, Rinse and repeat!

I also have another pretty nice set, but I'll post this instead since I don't know if we can post more than one.
