Welcome to the 2nd iteration of the Team Tournament, where the 1st saw the rise of Team #jassmashpwn, and the owning of the first, second and third Master Balls in the history of ASB! I think Jas' went unused though.

Today's battle features a direct descendant of last tournament's champions, Team TEXSMASHPWN, featuring our Steel afficionado and winner of the last tournament (even though he admitted to being absent most of it). And going up against him is one of our resident ladies, who swore that one day Lad will be one of the only two male ASB players in active IRC chat, Exclaimer!!

Cid-Pyroak glared balefully at Synthys-Krilowatt, who continued to flop around like a Magikarp that forgot to learn Struggle. The soundtrack started playing, signalling the start of the battle, and Synthys, never afraid to take a stand- er, I mean flop, warbled "mrrgglllrmmgrllllgrrr" which is probably a taunt in murloc- I mean, Krilowatt. Except it sounded more like fairy drakish- I mean Aurumoth.

But before Cid could respond to it, Synthys Powered up vomitted out a bright light that blinded Cid momentarily. Truly roused to fury, Cid swung his left forearm in a roundhouse and Hammered Synthys. But suddenly bits of Synthys' scales dropped off and morphed into golden chips - and a look dawned on Smash.

"Cid, activate the thrusters!"

By this time, though, Agro - for it is Agro in disguise - had already charged up a deadly purple aura of energy right in front of its proboscis, and the Hyper Beam blasted right into Cid's breastplate! Fortunately, the battle-hardened armor did not crack, and Cid took only a step back- oooh but wait, he reversed his momentum with that step, and went back in, this time for a straight, Flare-boosted Blitz punch right in the center!

The crowd sucked in a collective breath at that. Nobody wanted to take a Pyroak's full-force attack at that range, especially when the reciever has a weakness to any type of the two.

But Agro swung his wings with a loud cry, heedless of his smoldering body. The act managed to shove Cid back, out of punching range, but before the Ancient Power attack could hit again, Cid let loosed a Fire Blast attack, causing a massive explosion that pushed both Pokemon further away from each other! As dust began to settle, neither Trainer recalled their Pokemon for fear of exhaustion and faint. Both sides seem to be mulling over their next moves, while Eminem called for knocking at Arceus' door..

Exclaimer got her own thing, that's why the Dunk Squad trusts her. With a last ditch barrage, Agro continues to shoot at Cid. Smash however, decided that enough is enough, and Cid blasted forward against the Hyper Beam flow, splitting it right down the middle as it delivers one final Blitz! The ensuing explosion knocks out Agro, but Exclaimer managed to retrieve her Aurumoth into its Pokeball before it slams onto the ground.

Sensing that Cid-Pyroak is about to come a-firing, Ghale-Necturna raised a barrier of waterfall in his way, Soaking Cid's thrusters so the flames would be dampened. But not Cid's spirit, no- he Thrusts in nevertheless, dealing a world of pain to Ghale! The crowd gasps, thinking Cid may have netted Smash and the his eponymous team a second KO right after. But Ghale held, a mixed expression in her eyes before her lips split in a grin, deciding to payback in kind. Slipping her tHorny braid right between the cracks of Cid's armour, she found just the vital spot and plunged it in. As Cid spasmed in fatigue, Ghale Leeched out all her opponent's remaining vitality to repair her wounds, and the mighty Pyroak collapsed, unable to hold her back.

Got to say, that look on Cid's face makes him felt like he won even when he lost.

At a command from both trainers, a rare sight happened. The shadows of both Pokemons started to detach from their bodies, becoming ghastly, murky doppegangers. And in a flash, all four mons just started losing substance, dancing around each other in a blurry black choreography. Being Ghost-types, both Ghale and Edge knew well to strike the true body instead of the shadow, and Ghale's desperate speed puts her in a position to Sneak in the first blow! Unfortunately that was what Edge had been waiting all along - lying dormant for Ghale to exhaust herself from that burst, before repeatedly Striking her while she had to recover. That timing was so precise- Edge vanished along with his shadow just as Ghale swung, only to reappear as if right out of Phantom Zone, dealing a third blow!

Ghale being barely on her last legs, heaving, can Exclaimer turn the tide with a surprise?
