[OVERVIEW]

Typhlosion is a very mediocre Pokemon in RU. It faces severe competition from the other Fire-types, Delphox and Houndoom, to the point where it is almost completely outclassed. Delphox has secondary STAB moves, Calm Mind, and Grass Knot, and Houndoom also has secondary STAB moves along with Nasty Plot. Typhlosion is also countered by very common threats such as Flygon and Jellicent, while Houndoom can force Typhlosion into making shaky plays due to its access to Flash Fire. Typhlosion also has a Stealth Rock weakness, which neuters the main reason it should ever be used: Eruption. Typhlosion also lacks powerful coverage to get past Water-types such as Jellicent and Alomomola, both of which are common in the tier. However, Typhlosion has a small niche in RU due to its access to Eruption, which sets it apart from Delphox and Houndoom, but that still isn't enough to make it a big threat in RU.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Eruption is an extremely powerful STAB move when Typhlosion is at full HP, reaching a base power of 150 and dealing huge damage to anything that doesn't resist it. Fire Blast is a more consistent STAB move that should be used once Typhlosion falls below 73% HP, as it will outdamage Eruption at that point. Hidden Power Grass hits Water- and Ground-types that will try to switch into Typhlosion's Eruption or Fire Blast. Focus Blast hits Rock-types such as Tyrantrum and hits other Fire-types such as Houndoom and Mega Camerupt. Hidden Power Ice can be used over Hidden Power Grass, as it allows Typhlosion to catch defensive Flygon off guard.

Set Details
========

Choice Specs along with Typhlosion's solid Speed tier allows it to act as a wallbreaker. The EV spread is very basic, with maximum Speed investment as well as maximum Special Attack investment maximizing its Speed and power. Charcoal can be used, as it doesn't heavily rely on prediction like Choice Specs and allows Typhlosion to OHKO its usual switch-ins such as Houndoom and Tyrantrum with the appropriate coverage move after they switch into Eruption or Fire Blast.

Usage Tips
========

Even though Typhlosion normally shouldn't be considered over other Fire-types, mainly Delphox and Houndoom, Eruption gives it a tiny niche in RU, and for it to work, dedicated entry hazard removal is necessary. Typhlosion should try to switch in only when entry hazards have been removed. Slow U-turns and Volt Switches can get Typhlosion in safely against Pokemon such as Mega Glalie, Tyrantrum, and Houndoom.

Team Options
========

Pokemon such as Flygon, Togetic, Pelipper, Shiftry, and Skuntank are good teammates for Typhlosion, as they provide Defog support, removing the entry hazards that give Typhlosion a hard time. Similarly, Pokemon such as Hitmontop and Hitmonlee can provide Rapid Spin support. Flygon resists Rock-type moves and is immune to Ground-type moves, while Typhlosion, in return, takes little damage from Ice- and Fairy-type moves. Togetic and Pelipper are both immune to Ground-type moves, but they stack a Rock-type weakness with Typhlosion. Grass-types such as Virizion, Rotom-C, Shiftry, and Tangrowth can beat the bulky Water-types such as Jellicent and Alomomola that can beat Typhlosion. Pokemon that can set up Spikes, such as Qwilfish, Accelgor, and Omastar, can utilize Typhlosion's ability to force switches, though this is not recommended with a teammate that uses Defog.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Typhlosion can run Solar Beam + Sunny Day, but it uses up a moveslot and means that Typhlosion loses out on a coverage move, and the extra turn it takes to set up leaves it vulnerable to attackers. Typhlosion can run a Choice Scarf set, but it is heavily outclassed by Choice Scarf Delphox, as Delphox has more coverage, higher Speed, and access to Trick.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Bulky Water-types**: Water-types such as Jellicent and Alomomola can take most of Typhlosion's moves very well, though the rare Flash Fire-boosted maximum HP Eruption can put a huge dent into both of them.

**Dragon-types**: Dragon-types such as Flygon and Druddigon can switch into Typhlosion's moves fairly well, though they struggle to switch in more than once against maximum HP Eruption. Flygon has to be wary of Hidden Power Ice as well.

**Entry Hazards**: Typhlosion takes a lot of damage from Stealth Rock, which invalidates the main reason to use it: a fast Eruption.

**Other Fire-types**: Other Fire-types in RU such as Delphox, Houndoom, and Mega Camerupt can handle Typhlosion fairly well. The only move Delphox fears is full HP Eruption, while Houndoom fears Focus Blast.

**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon such as Cinccino, Choice Scarf Flygon, Dugtrio, Meloetta-P, and Durant can outspeed and OHKO Typhlosion.

This analysis is lacking in general lol

For the overview:
- Weakness to SR, mention it
- Being countered and checked by a lot of things, including Jellicent and Flygon. houndoom forces 50/50s and can cause Typhlosion to do a terrible choice. mention how far better the other Fire-types are and not just that that outclass him; mention why. Delphox is faster, has secondary stab, grass knot, and calm mind. Houndoom has secondary STAB and nasty plot.
- I don't like that you say it lacks coverage because focus blast sounds like good coverage despite the shit accuracy but w/e
- Flash Fire could be worth mentioning? like, it's something.

I don't like Extrasensory, sounds like it provides 0 coverage and Fire Blast hits all targets harder anyway. It only targets Qwilfish which eats shit from Fire Blast anyway. Remove it.

Charcoal seems like something you could put in set details tbh. it's coverage actually sounds scary when I think about it because like without specs limiting you to one move you kinda don't care if the opponent switches into say, tyrantrum or houndoom and you click a fire move. you'd proceed to KO them afterwards w/ Focus Blast anyway.

"If you're sane enough to use Typhlosion"

This is too insulting to the sensitive reader LOL, change it to "Even though Typhlosion normally shouldn't be considered over other Fire-types, mainly Delphox and Houndoom, ..." which flows better.

Remove Scarf from OO, literally has 0 reason to run it. Also remove Charcoal cuz you'll have that in set details. Add SubSalac w/ Blaze.

do all the above and its QC approved 1/3

saddens me that we have to have an analysis for this =(

Tone down the enthusiasm at the end of the overview, for example say, "However Typhlosion has a small niche due to its access to Eruption. Calling it a deadly wall breaker is over selling it. Also I think it should be emphasized that Delphox and houndoom have secondary STAB over typh, not typing, as typing is s mixed bag.

Add scarf to OO, but emphasize its mediocre and mostly outclassed by Delphox. Remove sub salac cause not running eruption is stupid (and this is also done better by Delphox).
