Uxie [QC: 2/3] Writing

Overview
########

+Really cool, varied movepool
+Great supporting Pokemon
-Entirely mediocre stats
-Unable to effectively utilize a portion of its movepool
-Weak to the Knock Off and Pursuit

Dual Screens
########
name: Dual Screens
move 1: Memento
move 2: Light Screen
move 3: Reflect
move 4: Stealth Rock / Psyshock / Psychic / U-turn
ability: Levitate
item: Light Clay
evs: 252 HP / SpD / 252 Spe
nature: Timid

Moves
========

-Psychic makes Uxie not total taunt bait
-Psyshock is used to OHKO Hitmonlee, but is weaker overall in comparison to Psychic
- Stealth Rock can be used if you are in dire need of a setter
- Light Screen and Reflect help Uxie's allies survive while setting up and attacking.
-U-turn can give Uxie a safe switch in to something after Screens have been set up, letting it bring in an offensive Pokemon safely
- Memento helps to keep momentum up.
- Thunder Wave slows opposing Pokemon and makes it easier to switch out into another Pokemon, probably a Pokemon that intends to set up. However, it can be blocked by the many Electric- and Ground-types in the tier.

Set Details
========

- Light Clay increases the duration of Light Screen and Reflect.
- Maximize Health for increased longevity. Increasing Speed helps to potentially get screens up before Uxie is hit by an attack
- Timid increased Speed at the expense of Attack
- Levitate gives Uxie immunity to Ground-type attacks.

Usage Tips
========

- Uxie's entire purpose is to help allies set up.
- Stealth Rock are most useful if used in the beginning of the match.
- Set up the Light Screen or Reflect depending on what kind of Pokemon is presently matched up against Uxie.
-Use Memento when your sweeper's counters are weakened

Team Options
========
- Pokemon that discourage Defog through Defiant, like Braviary.
-Setup sweepers that can take advantage of Dual Screens such as Gorebyss, Linoone, Combusken, Slurpuff, Barbaracle, and Swords Dance Zangoose.

Stealth Rock
########
name: Stealth Rock
move 1: Stealth Rock
move 2: U-turn
move 3: Psyshock / Psychic
move 4: Knock Off / Thunder Wave / Toxic
ability: Levitate
item: Leftovers
evs: 252 HP / 40 SpA / 216 Spe
nature: Timid

Moves
========

  • Stealth Rock serves as chip damage, makes it easier for setup sweepers to net KOs, and makes it harder for Fire-types like Moltres to switch in
  • U-turn gains Uxie some momentum, and lets it scout what the opponent is going to do
  • Psyshock is used as a reliable STAB move, should it need to stay in, as it can KO the likes of Hitmonlee
  • Psychic is also a reliable STAB attack, as it has a bit more power, but misses out on the KO on Hitmonlee
  • Knock Off can be used to cripple Pokemon reliant on their item
  • Thunder Wave eases prediction and cripples offensive mons
  • Toxic puts set up sweepers on a timer, and cripples defensive Pokemon like Gligar and Alomomola

Set Details
========

  • The given EV spread and nature is used to outspeed base 90s, such as Moltres and Meloetta, with the rest invested into bulk and Special Attack
  • Leftovers gives Uxie passive recovery each turn.

Usage Tips
========

  • Functions well as a lead for more defensively oriented teams, as it can set up rocks and then U-turn into an appropriate answer thanks to its great bulk
  • Should be used as a bulky pivot
  • Shouldn't be taking hits too much due to its lack of recovery
  • Knock Off should be used on Pokemon dependent on their item, like Gligar

Team Options
========

  • Pokemon that appreciate Stealth Rock support make good partners, such as common wallbreakers like Mega Abomasnow, Moltres, and Durant
  • Wish passers, like Aromatisse, Audino, and Alomomola
  • Pokemon that can set up other hazards appreciate Uxie's support, like Drapion

Other Options
########

- Choice Scarf or Specs with Trick
- Other utility moves: Heal Bell, Thunder Wave, Knock Off, Rain Dance, Sunny Day, Toxic, Trick, Trick Room, Yawn, Magic Coat
- RestTalk
- Elemental Punches are pretty cool

Checks & Counters
########

**Knock Off**: Not only does Knock Off hit Uxie for super effective damage, it removes Light Clay, meaning that Light Screen and Reflect will stay up for five turns instead of eight turns.

**Taunt**: Taunt stops Uxie from running any of these moves, with the exception of Psychic. This keeps it from being useful to its team and forces it to switch out.

**Defog**: Defog, from the likes of Gligar or Golbat, not only removes Stealth Rock from the opposing side, but removes both screens.

**Dark-types**: There are many Dark-types in the tier, such as Sharpedo and Skuntank, and can deal quick and powerful super effective attacks to Uxie. Skuntank and Drapion can even pursuit trap Uxie.

My little cent.
1) you have to delete Yanmega references, it's not RU anymore.
2) I think u-turn could be slashed with Memento. That's common answer to safeguard dual screens and switching out vs faster taunt Pokémons.

-Psychic makes Uxie not total taunt bait
move to moves

move thunderwave thing to end of moves

remove yanmega mention in set details

in taunt section you should replace mention of U-turn with psychic cause that is on the set.

in the future please don't CP an analysis you take over, the reason it was getting checked so slowly was that it had a lot of flaws, smh bouff

also rephrase "offensive-typing advantage" to dark-types and remove the mention of zoroark

do these things and QC approved 1/3

Going to ask something and whether it's possibly worth of a bigger mention or even a set: What about Weather Support Uxie? It has a lot of competitors, with Mesprit having Healing Wish over it, Whimsicott, Liepard and Volbeat having Prankster (Whimsicott doesn't have Rain Dance though, that's huge) and Cresselia getting an even bigger bulk than Uxie + Lunar Dance. However, what makes Uxie shine in this department is its access to the combination of Stealth Rock, the respective Weather Move and Memento. Memento is huge, since it paves the way for many of the dangerous sweepers that exist under weather, such as SD Kabutops, SD Ludicolo, SD Qwilfish, Shell Smash Omastar, Growth Victreebel and so on, automatically making it an option to look upon.

That's it regarding RD / Sunny Day, although I also think a bulky SR Uxie isn't bad either, since it doesn't instalose against Gligar nor Hitmonlee, and it can U-turn on Shiftry for huge damage. Something like SR / Toxic / Psychic / U-turn would do.

EDIT: Post 400, I better get some likes for this :]

As Psychic is weak as shit anyway. What does QC think about mentioning Psyshock which at least OHKOs Hitmonlee, a Pokemon that Uxie checks?

I'd also say that stuff like Virizion, Cobalion, Tyrantrum, Rock Polish Rhyperior, and DURANT should definitely get a mention in the sweepers that appreciate its support over some of the Pokémon you mentioned who are less threatening than them the majority of the time.

Not QC but...

I personally really like the idea of the bulky Stealth Rock pivot. It was one of Uxie's best sets last generation and i'm really not expecting any less of it this time around. That incredible bulk makes setting up Stealth Rock quite easy, its great Speed and access to Psychic help it pressure Golbat and Hitmonlee pretty effectively, U-turn stops it from killing all of your momentum, and something that damn bulky with access to Thunder Wave is really, really neat. Its offensive presence isn't the best, but U-turn and Thunder Wave should help mitigate this somewhat by helping keep up momentum and crippling anything that tries to set up on Uxie, respectively. Stealth Rock (obviously) and U-turn stop this from being just a worse Cresselia too.

I really think it deserves a chance at a full set, anyone else have opinions on it?

I think that it could get a full set tbh, the amount of support that Uxie can provide is pretty damn nice and can find its way on to some teams.

Also bringing this up again, mentioned it on the previous writers analysis, but I think U-turn should get the secondary slash on the dual screens set and not Psychic. Reason for this is either you are going to memento or you are going to be switching out to an appropriate check, Uxie should not be staying in and attacking something. Uturn allows for momentum and the possibility for Uxie to set up screens later on in the match. The whole reason to have an attacking move is so that it's not total bait, but if you get taunted you want to get out anyways and Uturn is better than just hard switching (usually).

adding to spirit:

toxic needs a slash on the sr set, since it's the only existing way of uxie winning against gligar, the main sr remover of the tier. everything else is fine tho (i still wouldn't mind a weather setter set, but that's not a big concern in the long run)

Seconding this, Psyshock can be considered over Psychic for this reason alone, and perhaps slashed after, or even before Psychic. Zen Headbutt can be considered over Psyshock since it allows Uxie to run Jolly instead of Timid (which weakens other physical moves like Knock Off and U-turn), but imperfect accuracy means Psyshock would probably be favored for its consistency.
