Welcome to the fourteenth edition of the Other Metagames Premier League! For the first time in OMPL history, we decided to put together an official Power Rankings article to kick off the tournament and have some fun looking through all the teams and players. Will the Commanders defend their title? Or will the Heart Takers (now Rage Fist and Furious) continue their momentum after an OMCL victory and take home another trophy? Will pannu be banned again? Much remains to be seen.
Naturally, rankings like these are always subjective, so if you're ranked low, please don't be offended! In fact, OMPL PRs have a history of being catastrophically inaccurate, as the bottom-ranked teams snag the grand prize every year. So if you're ranked low, it might very well be a good thing after all! We hope this PR gets everyone hyped for another unforgettable OMPL season. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the read!
Huge thanks to everyone who volunteered to write; this would not have been possible without y'all: cat, Chessking, Clem, DragonPhoenix333, HiZo, Lightniong, LordBox, matte, Osake, pannu, SammyCe123, Treeko928, yuki, and zastra. And of course, big thanks to our GP and HTML crew: earthfromthefuture, Lumari, Rahul, and sunny.
While the selection of the Machamps may have been initially controversial due to both prunyy and Lightniong's relative lack of experience and accolades compared to other potential manager pairings—with even Lightniong themself saying: "now i feel like i gotta go on a steve kerr streak to prove myself as a manager"—the Machamps were able to back up their inclusion by stringing together a solid draft. One could say this success was in part due to prunyy's extensive experience in hosting MOCCs. Both managers electing to not selfbuy gave them a significant economic advantage in the draft, allowing them to brandish the big bucks to secure big names such as Kinetic, Betticus IV, and Chromate early on in the draft in order to establish a strong and autonomous team core. This focus on drafting strong players with the capability to independently teambuild ensures that each tier will be able to put up a strong performance as well as covering bases on the tiers they may be less knowledgeable on. Many eyes will be on the Machamps to see if their ambitious draft plan is able to bring them from Ma-champs to The-Champs.
With a total cost of 31k is the proven duo of Kinetic and Betticus IV, who previously won OMPL with the Walking Wokes. Both have had exceptional performances, with Kinetic having a 6-1 record in the previous OMPL and Betticus winning AAA Open on top of placing in MnM seasonal semis. Both can provide value beyond their respective slots, with Betticus supporting Kinetic in AAA and Kinetic being able to support the STABmons slot that is occupied by Baddy, who's looking to further prove their prowess in STABmons. Quinn is also raring to etch his name upon the BH greats coming off a solid 4-2 performance last OMPL, but will have to build for himself due to lacking BH support. GG's own tierleader Les2BG has had a lackluster previous showing in OMPL, but with results such as a win over SammyCe123 in the most recent seasonal, he is looking to turn things around.
seraphz makes their OMPL debut coming off their recent hot streak of MnM results with an impressive 6-0 record in MnMPL and an OMCL appearance of 6-2. The Hisui Region also makes their debut in OMPL after a decent record of 3-2 in OMCL and will also have to self-teambuild. At the helm of the PIC slot stands Chromate, who boasts an undefeated record of 8-0 in the previous OMPL and is backed by pengu as support. Can Chromate find it within him to go Chrom8-0 again? Coming off the bench, we have Mindnight, who is able to support the MnM and GG slots, and solid clickers like ExguardiaN and Hiusi guy.
The narrative for this season is clear: the Machamps have the talent to bout with the best. But will they be able to translate that talent into tangible results? All that remains is for the game to be played.
The Gholden Witches return for another season this OMPL; with QT having jumped ship, ex-OMTL April has joined Akira for her first official OMPL managerial stint, having shadow-managed the Walking Wokes in 2024. Both managers elected not to self-buy, leaving the team with a full budget. They start things off with shiloh in AAA, a name familiar to anyone who has tuned into OMPL in recent years. Their years of experience certainly make them a more-than-capable starter at the caveat of needing teams built for them each week; it remains to be seen whether the army the Witches have built up will be enough to supply shiloh week after week. FlamPoke will be finding themself in BH; a great player who has been getting accustomed to OMs as of late, the BH support they find themselves with will allow them to prove their spot as a top contender.
In the Camomons slot, we find Maxomega, a finalist in the recent Camomons No-Johns tour, who looks to be a self-sufficient player and builder. Without anyone else specializing in Camomons, Maxomega's performance will make or break the Witches' season. lemonstre1 will be starting in GG, a rookie without much recent tour experience barring a win from the last OMCL; how they will perform is a mystery to everyone. ChrisPBacon's taking charge over MnM—a strong player too, yet lacking any major experience in the tier and strong support from the team, his performance will rely on how quickly he will be able to adapt and understand the tier.
In PiC they have NinjaSnapple, who has a solid understanding of the tier and strong piloting capabilities. She does notably find herself with the help of Nakano Nino, and to a lesser extent, One Last Kiss; the former has had strong showings in other Doubles-related tours. The key to the Witches's PiC season relies on Nakano Nino adapting quickly and being able to help NinjaSnapple early enough. One Last Kiss finds themselves back under the Witches after a dominant 5-1 season last OMPL. They'll need teams supplied, however, so how their season goes will depend on their support. And in the Bo3 slot they have pdt, an OMPL mainstay with an overall record of 19-17. Will pdt be able to keep his consistency up with the vast array of support at his disposal?
On the bench we find Fusien, aerobee, about15gals, Nakoruru_XD, willdbeast, pyu, Fragments, and Nakano Nino. Fusien is another great player who can sub in for slots as and when needed, granted that they adapt to whichever tier they find themself in quickly enough. aerobee will be looking to support from the side, having locked themself out of BH. about15gals will look to help lemonstre1 in GG with her strong intuition of the meta, and Nakoruru_XD appears to be the team's main MnM support. willdbeast looks to help out pdt and FlamPoke in BH while pyu makes their return to the OM scene after a brief stint in AAA last OMPL. Fragments will similarly look to sub in for slots if needed and support the team from the backline, while Nakano Nino will be helping NinjaSnapple out to a strong season.
Overall, the Gholden Witches have put up a formidable lineup. The team's notable flaw is the lack of a "star player," a notable weakness for army-style teams. The Witches also do lack any notably strong builder for a tier and have opted for lesser-known talent instead. Whether they have chosen the route of "quantity over quality" or "quantity AND quality" will be shown throughout their season.
The reigning champions from last year return. However, this time manager HiZo opted out of self-buying, instead supporting a cheap doubles core of Chris32156 and gephicka. Chris has played in OMPL before, though that was for 2v2 Doubles, and it will be interesting to see how they fare in PiC with HiZo's wild concepts. For AAA, the Commanders purchased LordBox for a price that he personally would find steep, except he won't be starting and will instead support mielke, who appears to be an ADV main and is brand new to OMs. That being said, LordBox's support has been known to be very effective in previous iterations across several clickers, so this strategy could play out well. Aiming to match the team's BH record from last year, the Commanders bought the most expensive player of the tour, quojova, to start in BH once again with his most recent SV BH tour game... in last year's OMPL. Still, should he be able to quickly derust, he is certainly one of the favorites in the slot.
In Camomons, we have Mossy Sandwich under a surprisingly low price tag. Regarded as one of, if not the best Camo players, they played a whopping nine games during OMCL and ended with a positive record. For Godly Gift, just like last year, we once again have an Ubers main in the slot. We will have to see if entrocefalo is able to replicate Fc's success. hayedenn will be starting in MnM and looking to continue their extremely successful runs in MnMPL and the previous OMPL. Returning to play in the Bo3 slot is damflame 3; while they have not had an excellent season, they did secure a very important finals tiebreak game and had a great individual performance last year. Finally, seth starts in STAB with solid performances in previous OMPL and OMWC appearances.
The returning champions have certainly drafted a formidable team to defend their crown. With an impressive backbone of powerhouse slots in BH, Camo, and MnM complemented by clickers paired with potent builders, can they become the first team since the Spinda Wheels to achieve the two-peat?
Coming in hot after winning OMCL are the Rage Fist and Furious, whose managers have both elected to self-buy. Formerly named the Heart Takers, they have the most individual achievements out of any manager duo. With a combined 3 OM Circuits, 2 Grand Slams, and several individual tour wins, they’re the strongest duo in the pool.
SammyCe123’s experience playing every single OM featured in this tour will be vital to making the team work. He’ll be utilizing this experience to the fullest as he starts for his team in Bo3, famously one of the most competitive tiers in OMPL. Despite constantly claiming that he’s washed, Ivar57 has been a very consistent player in tours. With an outstanding 7-2 record last OMPL, he has the background to be a solid backbone for his team as he starts in BH this week. Not even tour bans can keep pannu from playing, as he starts in Godly Gift this year. With 3 GG trophies under his belt and lots of experience playing multiple metas, he’s one of the most accomplished players in the pool. He also has a history with these managers, notably trying and failing miserably to make them lose OMCL by prepping against them. Will this past beef hold problems for their future collaboration?
For the AAA core, they have Glory and cat; both were drafted for remarkably low price tags this year and are known for being great personalities packed with lots of experience. Frixel is returning with his former managers to handle the Partners in Crime tier. Being the only PiC player on the team, Frixel’s performance will shape how their season goes. Joining him on returning is sky, who will be starting in Mix and Mega, a departure from their usual tier of STABmons and a very prized player, as they will be a great clicker for the team. As for our OMPL newcomers on the team this year, we have lag=bad, OUPL champion fakenagol, blittius, subzero_slammer, Swas, and RBTT champion anankaios. lag=bad will be starting in STABmons, where he’ll have a strong support core of SammyCe123 + pannu to assist him. Starting in Camomons is fakenagol, who’ll also be getting support from SammyCe123. Because this is one of the weaker tiers for this team, we’ll have to see if his OU experience is enough to help him do well in this unfamiliar tier. With the rest of the team on the bench as clickers, only time will tell if they have what it takes to make it in this tour.
Overall, the Rage Fist and Furious have a strong support core of SammyCe123, Ivar57, pannu, and Glory, with a myriad of clickers on their side to support whatever tier they need. Can they take it all this year and be the second managers to win OMPL and the OM Circuit, or will they fall short of the finish line as they have many times before?
Originating from AAAPL, the Charming Charizzards franchise has made its OMPL debut, being spearheaded by OM mainstays ghostlike and Atha, while the pair are mostly known for AAA, with many arguing Atha to be the best AAA player of the generation. Despite that, only ghostlike elected to self-buy, with Atha surely taking a more backseat role and helping build, as he is also very knowledgeable in both Camo and GG.
ghostlike will be slotting into AAA, and on the bench is GlalieGoesBoom, who is the cream of the crop in regard to AAA building. This decision confuses me, but I am sure ghostlike will win anyway, so it's really no big deal. A good chunk of the slots are being filled by French-cultivated OM talent. Siamato has been around for literal ages, and despite being in his own words, "retired," he recently won a Camomons tournament. Pairing that up with literally half the team being able to help him out with prep, there's no doubt this is gonna be one of the stronger slots on the team. Osake had an impressive multi-tier performance last year, with a top 8 finish in both OM Grand Slam and Circuit Championship alongside AAA, BH, and MnM generally being his strongest three tiers in those performances; they are gonna be able to put up a good fight against everyone else in the Bo3 pool. Then they've got Clem, a mainstay of the STABmons slot in recent OMPL history, being a consistent performer and even winning last year; no doubt they have good odds of performing well again this year.
In BH, they have veteran player XxLazzerpenguinxX, more commonly known as "Sevag"—because I am not typing all of that for the rest of this article. Sevag is mainly known for SS BH, with his most recent stint in SV (with the backing of the Tier Leader!) resulting in a… 1-6 record. But hey, this year he's got even better support! "The Guy Who Has Many Alts," who is well known for running wonderful sets such as Weakness Policy Mega Abomasnow and Tailwind Wind Rider Zekrom. I do not believe QC would let me verbalize my honest thoughts on this slot without getting infracted for harassment. In PiC they have Idyll clicking with yuki support from the bench. Idyll has played a lot of Doubles to success, and yuki is one of the most accomplished PiC builders. This is an incredibly deadly duo, and I am sure they will put up results.
Rounding out the 'rizzards' starters, they've got Spitfire in GG and Shadow079 in MnM. Spitfire is a household name if you pay attention to Smogon tournaments, having managed or played in countless official Team Tours. He has some experience with OMs but none in Godly Gift; however, between Atha's GG Seasonal finals appearance and a respectable record in OMCL, and ghostlike making a deep run in the GG Open, there's no doubt his clicking credentials will have excellent support to back him up in learning the tier. Shadow079 is an up-and-coming UM and low-tier player who is being backed up by both Osake and qways. I am excited to see how this slot pans out. The people on the bench who I haven't mentioned are betathunder and feen; betathunder used to play a lot of OM's, feen had a respectable run in AAA last year, and I am sure they will contribute to the team.
The Charizzards have managed quite the fearsome draft on paper, and once they find their groove, they could easily prove to be a force to be reckoned with.
Two of OM's biggest weebs, QT and Chessking, have chosen to manage together under the Speiraskia Specters, a team name that I can only describe as "anime larp." QT will be their sole self-buy here—nothing unexpected, they've always had good showings in every OM tour they've been in. Chessking chose not to self-buy, on the other hand, mainly because he does not play the tier and will help support the team from the side. Greybaum will be starting for the first time in 4 years —he's been managing for the past 3—and looks to have a strong season after a solid run in AAA Open. BH councilman Treeko928, known for his creative HO builds, will be starting in his home tier, fresh off a 5-1 season in OMCL and a quarterfinals finish in BH Open. Furthermore, he'll have support from QT, Chessking, and Clas, so hopes are high for this slot.
Speaking of Clas, he'll be the team's Camomons starter—he had a good run in the recent Camomons No-Johns tour, making him one of the safer starters to pick. In GG they have XYStarshine, a versatile builder who ended in third place last GG Seasonal. With builder support from QT, Clas, and Greybaum, the potential for this slot is sky-high. TKYSZL will take charge over the MnM slot; they had a decent 3-3 run in MnMPL, but will have assistance from the many experienced MnM players on their team.
In PiC they have tkhanh, who put up an astounding 5-1 performance last OMCL in said tier. While generally self-sufficient, it's unclear whether he'll be able to put up yet another strong showing without any dedicated support. volcanionisgood will begin his debut season in STABmons after an undefeated OMFL run last year. And lastly, QT will be the team's Bo3 player, unsurprising to anyone keeping up with the OM tour scene after their runner-up finish in last year's Circuit Championships.
The Specters have a great lineup overall, as many of their starters can look to shift into other tiers if needed (see Treeko's 6-1 performance in MnMPL, Clas in BH and MnM, and QT in literally any tier). Their weakest points are in PiC and STABmons; the former slot may have a rough season without sufficient help, and the latter slot is a wild gamble; however, if these two slots are able to pull their weight, the Specters will undoubtedly have a smooth season. But really, what on earth is a "Speiraskia"?
Our dear managers on the Hakamo-os must be stuck in 2023—NFE isn't an OM anymore. Regardless, the Hakamo-os are spearheaded by a strong managerial core of zastra and TTTech, who have both elected to self-buy. The former had a great team tour showing last year, with a combined total record of 10-4 between OMPL and OMCL, and the latter is coming fresh off a BH Open win and deep runs in the STABmons and MnM Opens. Starting in the AAA slot is O1V7O2X9O, a username that can only be described as "wifi password," and it will be shortened to just "O1" from henceforth. O1 consistently puts up respectable team tournament records playing AAA and can be regarded as a safe and consistent option to start. rightclicker finds himself starting in BH; while he is a familiar face to anyone who has opened the BH channel in OMcord, their lack of starting experience may be their Achilles' heel. Will their debut season as a starter prove all doubts wrong? In Camomons they have jb291, a strong player in their own right who put up a solid 4-3 record in the tier last OMCL. Nashrock fields themself in GG, who went even in said slot last OMPL, but might need reminders to use the right ability on their Pokemon.
MnM co-TL zastra looks to continue his hot streak in the format as long as he's not sidetracked by :haha:ing other users in #tournaments. LogIce is a relatively unproven PiC player, sporting a 2-2 record last OMCL and a solid run in the latest PiC Occasional. Will he be able to prove his ground this season? In STABmons we find xdRudi.exe, totally not a virus meant to steal your wifi password (might want to watch your back, O1). Rudi is a creative builder and good player but had a rough season last year; can he reverse the tide and prove himself this year? Some say that suffering builds character. Some may respond with an article on learned helplessness. TTTech finds himself back in the Bo3 slot after a long season last year. This year, he finds himself with a much stronger team of helpers that can enable him to reach his fullest potential; whether this will be enough is what we'll have to see for ourselves.
On the bench we find iPetBigfoot, matte, TrainerGoldAlt, and Smallsmallrose. iPetBigfoot looks to support LogIce's endeavors in PiC and can sub in for the former. matte is a creative builder whose support will be integral to O1 and TTTech's success. One does wonder about his motivation without a certain explosive Glalie on his team, however. TrainerGoldAlt is zastra's support of choice, who had a solid showing in MnMPL and can be trusted to take the reins if needed. Last but not least, we have the Camomons TL Smallsmallrose, an active builder and player who will enable jb291 to have a strong showing in Camomons.
Overall, the Hakamo-os have much to prove: on one hand, they have newer talent raring to go and make a name for themselves; on the other, they have players who wish to prove themselves once again after poor seasons that they are not to be underestimated. With much to prove yet much to lose, will the Hakamo-os prove all doubters wrong and go to nationals (playoffs) this summer?
After a solid OMCL campaign, the Noxious Nightshades now look to carry that momentum into their first OMPL appearance, this time with both managers self-buying. GhastlyPixie has amassed an impressive 8-5 record combined across OMCL and OMPL in a variety of tiers, clearly showing they can perform on the big stage. This time around, they'll be taking on BH duties for the team. adriancosmoem, however, is relatively new to the OM tournaments scene, especially as a player. Making your debut as a self-buy is not an easy position to be in, with expectations immediately placed upon you, so it'll be interesting to see if they perform or crumble under pressure.
The team's star player is RoFnA, who they bought for a hefty 16.5k; he will be handling the Bo3 player this year with building support from players like GhastlyPixie and Iride. RoFnOoB is one of the strongest sheet farmers the OM scene has to offer, boasting a 13-8 overall OMPL record while also coming off a dominant 6-0 OMCL run and a strong Circuit tournament showing recently. Iride has quietly built an impressive AAA resume, putting up a 6-2 record across OMPL and OMCL. In Godly Gift, they have DragonPhoenix333, one of the most active GG players of the modern era, priced at a sizeable 11.5k; after an underwhelming 0-2 OMCL showing, they'll be aiming for a redemption run this season. OSDT finalist SeaLife is the team's PiC starter. While their OMPL stint didn't go too well at 0-2, they bounced back with a 2-0 OMCL showing; this season, with strong support from players like GhastlyPixie and jasprose, they should have a good chance at finding success.
In Camomons, they have OM rising star Itoshiflwr, who's set to make their OMPL debut. Itoshiflwr has had some good Circuit runs recently, and if they're motivated, they could definitely do well. In Mix and Mega, the team will be turning to National Dex staple Tempo di anguria, who's playing the tier after nearly two years with little support backing them. The Strap is playing STABmons with little support—whether The Strap does The Strap things or gets lost in the ocean remains to be seen. Jojen, Gigabytes7, and jasprose round out the roster as good support options.
Overall, this team is full of life, but not without its uncertainties. The Nightshades are placing their faith in budding talent to rise to the occasion. They'll need strong chemistry, solid teams, and good performances from their 29.5k worth of managers if they want to contend. If everything clicks, this could be one of the more dangerous dark horses in the pool—but for now, much of their season rests on potential becoming results.
1. Kinetic - 1.6 - MOCCing Machamps
Kinetic, as the other star AAA player, managed an extremely impressive showing in the last OMPL, going 6-1 against a myriad of other strong players without any other support. While their more recent showings in OMCL and AAAPL have not been as impressive, going 0-2 and 2-2, respectively, and without any significant individual tour showings, Kinetic has still shown a very impressive record as a pilot and builder. Betticus has also been a long-time builder and player; while his last OMPL and OMCL performances have been quite shaky, going 1-3 and 2-3, respectively, they did manage to put in stronger performances in the last AAAPL, managing to go 2-0. Individual tour-wise, they have also managed to put up strong performances, most recently managing to win the recent AAA open and being a runner-up in the AAA seasonal beforehand and semifinalist in the AAALT playoffs. This core’s strength is bolstered by the fact they’ve previously played together to great success, notably in OMPL XII, where they managed to go positive and win. Altogether, Kinetic is a very strong pilot and builder with great synergy alongside another decorated builder on the team; this could easily lead to a great run, only potentially hampered by their long history being a known quantity.
2. ghostlike - 1.8 - Charming Charizzards
ghostlike is an experienced and competent player and builder, playing in many previous team tours to mixed results, going 2-7 in last OMPL and 1-1 in the recent OMCL, as well as individuals to decent results. While their record is not that impressive, they have an extremely extensive support squad to help. Atha, while not playing, is arguably the most decorated AAA player of all time, including within this current generation, and Glaliegoesboom is another experienced player and builder with results in previous OMPLs and individuals. Both of these builders will be able to provide very strong support in the kitchen. Added onto this are Osake and Siamato: while both don’t have significant results or experience in the recent metagame, they do have a long history of experience with AAA and will likely be able to further contribute to the building support. Add onto this even further the options of feen as a sub, having shown off a great performance last OMPL in the AAA slot with support. The team overall has a very strong builder core that has high potential but ultimately will be reliant on ghostlike piloting against some very strong competition.
3. Glory - 2.4 - Rage Fist and Furious
Glory has had a rather extensive history of building and playing AAA in team tours, going positive in all three of OMPL, OMCL, and AAAPL, including supporting feen with builds in OMPL to a good result as well, though he lacks any individual tour results. In terms of support, they also have pannu, who has put up notable results in individual tours; Ivar, who hasn’t been involved with AAA for some time but should be able to provide some support with their significant experience; and cat as extra support on top. Overall, this core is rather reliant on Glory to perform, but they are nonetheless a strong and fairly reliable player to count on.
4. O1V7O2X9O - 3.8 - Ao No Hakamo-o
O1 has had quite a strong run piloting AAA in past tours with support, going 5-3 in last OMPL, 2-1 in OMCL, and 3-1 in AAAPL, as well as some solid individual tour results in Open, Seasonal, and AAALT. In terms of support, matte is quite an experienced player and builder, notably being the runner-up in the recent AAA open and AAALT but also having played and built in the last AAAPL, OMCL, and OMPL to lukewarm results. O1 as a pilot is solid enough to be trusted in most matchups, so the real test for them will likely be their build quality and securing those matchups. While matte and O1 don’t lack teambuilding experience, it is somewhat less notable compared to the stronger teams in the pool.
5. Greybaum - 4.2 - Speiraskia Specters
Greybaum serves as the main player and builder here, to a middling placement. Greybaum has had a fairly decent record, most notably going 5-0 in the recent AAAPL and otherwise going 1-1 in AAAPL and having a somewhat deep run in AAA seasonal, which shows they can definitely be a strong pilot and a rather creative builder. MZ is also a potential sub for the team and has experience as a pilot for AAA but likely isn’t strong enough to consider over Greybaum as a main pilot. Compared to other teams with players and cores with more notable records and more solid support/pilots, it’s hard to put him over them, but Greybaum is a strong enough player and builder on his own to still make him a threat that could do well.
6. shiloh - 5.6 - Gholden Witches
Shiloh ranks relatively low here due to a lack of significant builder support for this slot. Shiloh has a rather long history with piloting AAA, having decent performances in previous OMPLs; however, he has relatively little experience outside of that and thus needs quite significant support, which doesn’t appear to be the case on this team. In terms of potential support, April and pyu both have some decent experience for AAA, but April hasn’t really had any record of building at a high level, and pyu, while they did play and build last OMPL, had a rather poor performance themselves and have been inactive building for the metagame until this OMPL. Shiloh does have decent potential, as the metagame is rather pilot-heavy, and shiloh has shown himself as a consistently good pilot for AAA, but it’ll depend heavily on whether his supporters can create or give him builds that will keep his match-ups good or neutral versus some of the strong builders present in the pool.
7. mielke - 5.8 - Commanders
mielke finishes in 7th place overall. Known for his exploits in ADV, he will have tier leader LordBox to help him, with damflame 3 able to provide support if needed. While LordBox is a great builder who is capable of building a wide variety of teams, the issue lies within whether the unproven mielke will be able to pilot their teams. As this will be mielke's first showing in the tier, it is unclear how they will perform, and they might need a while to get used to the tier. If all goes well and mielke is able to get accustomed to the metagame quickly enough, it'll be smooth sailing from there, but this is a big "if," and the Commanders may be in for a rough season should the ADV player pilot otherwise.
8. adriancosmoem - 6.8 - Noxious Nightshades
Adriancosmoem is ranked last here due to a lack of significant support core outside of Iride and being a relatively unproven pilot for the metagame. Adriancosmoem, in terms of AAA experience, is quite unproven apart from tangential experience in PokeAAA in OMMPL, with a decent record over there. Though Iride did manage quite a good performance last OMPL, going 5-2, they have lacked any significant record in the metagame apart from a rogue 1-0 appearance in AAAPL. Though Iride as a builder is likely still quite strong, in a pool stacked with many experienced players, they will be ranked last. However, they could easily do better than indicated depending on how Iride’s builds turn out despite the relative inactivity, how their pilot plays, or if Iride does slot themselves in.
1. Ivar57 - 1.4 - Rage Fist and Furious
One of the most established OM players, Ivar57, self-buys into BH again after an incredibly impressive 11-0 run in BH during last OMPL and the first half of OMCL. Though they fell back to earth in the second half of OMCL, they remain one of the strongest players in the pool, backed up by traditionally solid and sound builds. They will also have support from top OM players SammyCe123 and pannu to help unrust. Though this will need to be a collective effort, as none of these players have been particularly active since the major tiering changes, with only Sammy having a quick exit in BH Open. Should they overcome this minor hurdle, we should expect to see a formidable performance once again.
2. Treeko928 - 1.8 - Speiraskia Specters
Treeko928 starts in BH with a luxurious support cast, featuring QT, Clas, and maybe Chessking. A somewhat newcomer after playing only three games last OMPL, they have quickly become one of the best BH and all-around OM players, with strong performances in OMCL and Championship Playoffs. Despite being a pioneer of offence, they are also, rather reluctantly, fully capable of piloting balance, making them hard to prep for. Additionally, they are one of the only starters in the pool that have been actively keeping up with the tier. All in all, definitely a favourite in this pool.
3. quojova - 2.4 - Commanders
The most expensive player this year, quojova is back in SV BH and will be looking to justify that hefty price tag. They are an extremely consistent player, having gone positive in every BH team tour, and are known for excellent understanding and preparation while being challenging to prep against. They will have Mewtwo's Greatest Soldier, as well as manager HiZo to an extent, for support; both are known for their unorthodox and offense ideas, which will complement quojova's typically bulkier balance style. Somewhat similar to Seed 1, though, quojova hasn't actually played SV BH since last OMPL, mostly SS instead during HPL. This is mostly a minor concern, though, since they have shown time and time again that they rarely struggle with derusting.
4. FlamPoke - 4 - Gholden Witches
A rising OM presence, FlamPoke once again starts SV BH under Akira's team, having previously achieved an impressive 5-1 record in HPL with their support. They also went 2-0 in the OMCL BH slot against notable players TTTech and Ivar57, the latter game, the NFE BH spectacle, being an OM Awards nominee game. Given strong, compatible support combined with their strong playing capabilities, they are expected to put up a strong showing again, provided that Akira does not burn out. It is also rumoured that they will additionally have the support of a supposed retired veteran.
5. XxLazzerpenguinxX - 4.8 - Charming Charizzards
Ex-tier leader XxLazzerpenguinxX, which is a mouthful to say so they will hence be referred to as Sevag, is back in OMPL to play SV BH after playing NatDex in HPL. Their last season was one to forget, but this year, instead of a washed, lazy tier leader, they will instead receive support from The Guy Who Has Many Alts, commonly known in the community as Hallward. Known for their more unorthodox sets, Hallward has proved his worth in effective preparation, particularly against standard balance structures, by winning the recent no-Stone Axe tournament. If the players are able to work together effectively, they can be a force to contend with. However, if they fail to do so, then a supportless Sevag could falter once more.
6. GhastlyPixie - 5.2 - Noxious Nightshades
GhastlyPixie normally dabbles in numerous different OMs, playing PiC in OMPL last year, AAA and MnM in their respective PLs, and now starting in BH as a self-buy. They have not played many games of the tier recently, winning one game each in Homefield and OMCL, so they will be looking to prove themselves in BH too in this tour. The support can be lacking, though, with the main notable BH player on the team being Bo3 starter RoFnA... who is also known to not build their BH teams. However, GhastlyPixie is known to have caused many upsets before, and it will remain to be seen whether they can replicate that again.
7. rightclicker - 5.4 - Ao No Hakamo-o
rightclicker makes their OMPL debut, having mostly supported quojova last year and only playing one game in the final week after their team was already eliminated. Though they have also played an SV BH game in HPL and won, that game was definitely a game to forget. As an active member of the community—QC member and the only active SmogCord team rater for the tier—they will definitely be looking to establish themselves as a rising star. TTTech will be supporting them, though how effective this will be is up in the air considering their different playstyle preferences. Despite being the player in the pool with the least OMPL playing experience, rightclicker is not to be underestimated.
8. Quinn - 7 - MOCCing Machamps
Quinn well exceeded expectations last year by putting up a strong 4-2 record in a tough pool. Having good clicking skills, as long as they are provided with strong, reliable teambuilding support, they can be expected to be a dark horse once again. However, they do not seem to have the same level of support as last year, with the most notable BH support on the team being Bo3 player Betticus IV, who is more known for their AAA knowledge. With the tier also receiving an overhaul, Quinn's prior built-up meta knowledge from last year becomes less useful. Whether the MOCCing Machamps will have secretly effective BH support will end up deciding on how well this slot will fare.
1. Siamato - 1.4 - Charming Charizzards
Siamato has always been one of the top dogs in Camomons, with a rich involvement in the tier's history and a slew of impressive results, including many individual tournament wins and a 2-1 performance last OMCL. With ghostlike and atha as support, he will be an unpredictable opponent to face, capable of using a wide variety of styles and Pokemon. Will he continue his dominance in the tier, or will he be dethroned by someone else?
2. Mossy Sandwich - 1.4 - Commanders
Mossy Sandwich has similarly been one of the front runners of Camomons, consistently putting up great results and winning many individual tours. In OMCL, he went for a solid 5-4 performance, being the only player to play Camomons every week throughout the entire tournament. This time, he will be looking to put up an even better performance and make a splash with his strong play and innovative teambuilding.
3. jb291 - 3 - Ao No Hakamo-o
jb had a solid run in Camomons in OMCL, going for a solid 4-3 record in the tier despite never having played it before. Now, after having great success in other tiers on Smogon, he is back looking to carry that momentum and make an even better performance. Notably, he also has support from Camomons mainstay Smallsmallrose. It will be very interesting to see how jb does and if he can continue the same dominant performance he has demonstrated elsewhere.
4. Clas - 4.4 - Speiraskia Specters
Clas is once again returning to Camomons. While he only put up a 0-1 performance in OMCL, he is still a highly respected player who is capable of performing at a high level. His team is filled with generally strong OM players like QT, Greybaum, and Treeko928 that can pick up the tier and provide good support. However, Clas has had his ups and downs before, so it will be very exciting to see if he can meet the high expectations, if he puts up an underwhelming season, or if he ends up in the middle of the pack.
5. Maxomega - 4.6 - Gholden Witches
Maxomega has come back to OMs after being away for a couple of years, and they made a big splash in the recent Camomons No-Johns tournament, proving that they still have what it takes. This year, they are on the Witches, which is a very interesting team with no known Camomons players but lots of people who could potentially pick up the tier to support. Will Maxomega perform and be on top of the pool? Or will they fall and end up on the lower end? Only time will tell.
6. fakenagol - 4.8 - Rage Fist and Furious
fakenagol is a new face to the OM scene but has lots of experience elsewhere on Smogon. He has notably played SV OU before at a high level, going 3-3 last SPL and 3-0 last SCL. He also has strong Camomons support to help him get into the tier, with SammyCe123, Ivar57, and pannu all having experience in the tier. He undeniably has the skill ceiling to do well in this pool, but the question is whether or not he will be able to learn and get into Camomons quickly enough.
7. Itoshiflwr - 5.8 - Noxious Nightshades
itoshiflwr is a relatively new OM player who has made an impact on the scene in many of the Opens. Now, she finds herself again in an OM she is likely unfamiliar with. The support is likely GhastlyPixie and adriancosmoem, a solid duo who will try to get itoshiflwr up to speed on the metagame. She has proven capable of picking up new metagames quickly, so it will be interesting to see how she does against this relatively experienced pool.
8. The Hisui Region - 6.4 - MOCCing Machamps
While THR hasn't played a lot of Camomons before, she has played the relatively similar OMM of Camove Chaos. While different, it means that she is likely aware of the important fundamentals to the tier. Her support is likely going to be Betticus and Kinetic, who haven't played Camomons before but should be able to pick it up quite easily. Will she prove expectations wrong and go above and beyond? Or will she end up in the lower echelon of the pool as predicted? Let's see!
1. pannu - 1.2 - Rage Fist and Furious
pannu is one of the most (in)famous names within the OM Community, and is the king of Hydrapple and Ting-Lu slop. With numerous GG accolades in GG Seasonal and Open, going an impressive 7-2 across OMCL and last OMPL, as well as the solid support of SammyCe123, the only thing that can stop him is a tourban or messing up timezones, but I'm sure those would never happen to such an experienced player like pannu.
2. XYStarshine - 2.4 - Speiraskia Specters
As a member of the Chinese Translations Team but never the GG C&C team (please join), XYStarshine nevertheless holds the best individual GG record in OMCL and a decent 6-4 record across both OMCL and last OMPL, proving that he is a force to be reckoned with. Not only that, his individual prowess can be seen through his run through GG Seasonal, and with the support of players like Greybaum and Clas, Starshine's season is definitely one to look out for.
3. Nashrock - 3.4 - Ao No Hakamo-o
Coming off a mediocre 3-4 season last OMPL and not playing Godly Gift in a while (at least to my knowledge), Nashrock has a lot to prove. However, with his consistent presence across the rest of the site, Nashrock is still an excellent clicker, and although the support behind the slot is dubious, TTTech support alongside a clicker has historically been okay, so there is definitely a solid chance that Nashrock can have a phenomenal season.
4. Spitfire - 3.6 - Charming Charizzards
Although I don't think Spitfire has played Godly Gift before (?), he is nevertheless a phenomenal clicker across a variety of tiers, and with the support of GG Open finalist ghostlike and GG Seasonal finalist Atha, it will be very interesting to see if Spitfire's skill can make up for his lack of metagame inexperience and/or his teammates can get him familiarized with the meta. If Spitfire can get quickly acclimatized, he will be an extremely threatening player.
5. entrocefalo - 4 - Commanders
As an avid Ubers player and excellent clicker, entrocefalo is coming off a mediocre 3-4 record last OMPL and a subsequent hiatus. However, while entrocefalo previously had the support of players like SammyCe123, the burden of building now falls upon entrocefalo himself, as well as damflame 3 and HiZo. It remains to be seen whether entrocefalo can succeed given these circumstances.
6. DragonPhoenix333 - 5 - Noxious Nightshades
An up-and-comer in the GG scene, OMPL-winning builder support DragonPhoenix333 gets put in the spotlight as a starter this time around. Aside from the aforementioned OMPL chip, DP has also made deep runs in individual tournaments and consistently builds new and interesting teams. Despite all of this, he is relatively inexperienced with the in-game aspects compared to much of this pool, and his teambuilding is dubiously consistent (Throwback to the time he bought SubCM Ho-Oh to finals of a tour).
7. Les2BG - 5.4 - MOCCing Machamps
Although Les2BG had a lackluster 1-5 showing across OMCL and last OMPL, he has bounced back, beating SammyCe123 in Godly Gift Open. As long as Les doesn't load Kyurem-W every game, he will be a very threatening player this OMPL, and with the low price tag of 4000 credits, pressure is low, but only time will tell if Les can outperform expectations with the Tiering Leader (de)buff.
8. lemonstre1 - 7 - Gholden Witches
Starting over OMPL winner Fragments and OST winner Fusien, lemonstre1 has quite a bit of pressure on them, and with an unimpressive supporting cast and lack of interaction with the metagame since OMCL, lemonstre1 seems set up to fail. However, given a solid 2-0 record last OMPL and the help of about15gals, lemonstre1 is definitely not to be underestimated, and it will be exciting to see if they can find a way to succeed.
1. hayedenn - 1.6 - Commanders
7-2 last OMPL, 4-1 last MnMPL, and a laundry list of accolades in the tier—hayedenn enters this tour as one of the most proven names in the pool. Known for loading the most unholy offenses imaginable, their building style can only really be described as... beautifully unhinged. Somehow though, it works. Consistently. They're a strong player, and preparing against them can be a headache. I'm curious to see whether they farm this year once again or finally burn the kitchen down, though the chances of the latter feel pretty low.
2. zastra - 2.4 - Ao No Hakamo-o
MnM Co-TL zastra is not letting managing stop him from running it back for another MnM stint this OMPL. I mean, after his impressive 5-2 season last OMPL and a 5-2 record in OMCL, who can blame him? He's been an elite player for the better part of a few years, and with the help of both TTTech and TrainerGoldAlt, we expect another amazing season from him. Let's just hope he can keep his motivation and not run Delphox every game.
3. TKYSZL - 2.8 - Speiraskia Specters
Chinese prodigy TKYSZL has been on the sidelines for a while, but this year they finally start. Although their MnMPL record was a pedestrian 3-3, they're still a formidable opponent regardless, with good clicks and a very sharp eye for what's broken in the builder. What's more, this year they have support from four very strong MnM players in QT, Clas, Mincera31, and Treeko928. A very interesting player to watch heading into the season.
4. seraphz - 3 - MOCCing Machamps
Newly appointed MnM council member seraphz enters the tournament off an absurd 12-2 combined record across OMCL and MnMPL, which is a genuinely mind-blowing feat. They build well and execute methodically. Add support from Betticus and their managers on top of that, and it's hard not to have high expectations. It'll be interesting to see if they can keep the streak alive, but please don't use Sceptilite Volcanion.
5. sky - 4.6 - Rage Fist and Furious
sky is mainly known for playing STABmons in OM team tours, but this year they're in MnM. They're a solid player with a lot of experience across the site, and they certainly know how to win. Their previous MnMPL showing didn't go too well at 1-3, but the games themselves showed they at least understand the tier and its dynamics. More importantly, they'll have support from one of the top dogs in MnM, SammyCe123, which could end up being a massive boost. There's definitely room for them to outperform expectations in this pool.
6. ChrisPBacon - 5.8 - Gholden Witches
ChrisPBacon is an excellent tour player with a long list of achievements, although none of them really come from MnM—it doesn't seem like they've actually played the tier before. That said, it shouldn't be particularly hard for a player of their caliber to pick it up quickly. The support structure here does feel a little shaky, though; there's Pyu, but they last actively played the tier about a year ago. Nakoruru_XD played SV MnM in MnMPL but didn't have a great showing, finishing the tournament with a mere 0-2 record. It'll be interesting to see how quickly this group finds its footing in the tier.
7. Tempo di anguria - 6 - Noxious Nightshades
Tempo's SV MnM journey started in 2024 OMWC... and also ended in 2024 OMWC. The next time they touched MnM was in MnMPL, where they played a game of SM (and lost it). Despite the extremely limited sample size, their actual play wasn't bad by any means, so they can likely pick the tier back up without too much trouble. Their success depends on how well they're able to adapt on the fly.
8. Shadow079 - 6.2 - Charming Charizzards
Speaking of 0-1 SM MnM records, Shadow079 will be making their OMPL debut this year in MnM. They will have support from the powerhouse Ghostlike, the geeked qways, and potentially the experienced noob SpaceSpeakers as well. With a support cast like that, the chances of success are far from low. Shadow079 remains relatively unproven in this particular setting, but they're still not someone to be underestimated.
1. xdRudi.exe - 1.8 - Ao No Hakamo-o
Despite subpar results in the last few OM team tournaments he was part of, Rudi differentiates himself from the rest of this pool by being one of the very few people who actually play STABmons. With a pretty deep run in STABmons Open last year and a game in OMPL, Europe's best STABmons player won't have too many issues getting the rust off and grabbing wins versus a less experienced pool.
2. Baddy - 2 - MOCCing Machamps
STABmons is one of those metagames anyone with experience can pick up, even without support. Luckily, Baddy is one of the best up-and-coming players on the site, with appearances in every official team tournament and an SCL win, and will benefit from incredible support in Kinetic. It's no surprise seeing Baddy ranked this high in a metagame so similar to tiers he usually plays, and we're looking forward to seeing what the Brit can cook.
3. Clem - 3.4 - Charming Charizzards
Having played in the tier in the last 4 iterations of OMPL, notably winning the last one, it should be of no surprise to anyone that Clem ranks this highly up on the list. Pairing these literal years up with a very innovative approach to the tier—inventing sets such as Torch Song Throat Spray Scovillain and Lead Iron Boulder, Clem is a wildcard to prep for and may very well win the game on preview depending on how their team-building mood was on that day. In their own words, they need sanity checks sometimes, and there doesn't seem to be anyone really capable of doing that on the Charizzards. Will Clem cook too hard or be perfectly on fire in order to surpass already high expectations?
4. One Last Kiss - 4 - Gholden Witches
With an impressive 5-1 record last OMPL and lots of experience in similar formats, namely OU, One Last Kiss is back with a vengeance to round out the top half of these Power Rankings. OLK, however, does not seem to have any kind of support on this team from people who actively play the format; if STABmons isn't necessarily the hardest format to pick up, we can expect them to do well as the season goes on.
5. volcanionisgood - 4.4 - Speiraskia Specters
Unfortunately for them, Volcanion is only decent at best in STABmons, but on the bright side, volcanionisgood seems to be quite the menace in this format as a player. After an undefeated OMFL season, it was expected to see Volcanion get picked in OMPL for another round of STABmons madness. With a LOT of great support from QT, Clas, and potentially Treeko928, volcanionisgood is set to replicate their OMFL performance.
6. lag=bad - 4.6 - Rage Fist and Furious
lag=bad had a pretty decent OMCL run earlier this year, and they did so without the absolutely incredible support they have for this edition of OMPL. Unfortunately for the Fist & Furious, lag=bad hasn't exactly proven themself as a STABmons player, and even with the best support in the world, if the clicking part doesn't follow, their STABmons slot might end up in a dire situation.
7. seth - 6 - Commanders
Last year seth subbed into STABmons in the middle of the tour, to middling results. This year he looks to be a starter prospect for the entire tour—with a lack of any support on his team. I am sure his decent experience in NatDex might carry over here, but frankly, I am struggling to find confidence in this slot. It is STABmons, though—so anything can happen.
8. The Strap - 6 - Noxious Nightshades
The Strap might be the only player on these Power Rankings who's actually never played a single game of STABmons. As opposed to mainers and people with more experience above them, The Strap is gonna need serious support that they could get from… RoFnA? Maybe? We're not sure how The Strap is gonna get teams, let alone playtest for this season, but we wish them the best nonetheless, as STABmons is one of those formats where general skill translates into success pretty well.
1. Chromate - 1 - MOCCing Machamps
Undefeated in OMPL XIII, it should come as no surprise that Chromate is touted as the strongest player in the Partners in Crime pool once again. Chromate is one of the most consistent and varied players that the format has ever seen, largely known for his mastery of offensive playstyles but ability to load just about anything imaginable. Despite the lack of support, there's no doubt that Chromate will once again put up a solid record.
2. tkhanh - 2 - Speiraskia Specters
Partners in Crime's most recent rising star, tkhanh is coming off a stellar 5-1 OMCL record and deep individual tour runs where only some of the strongest players the format has seen can seem to ever stop them. tkhanh boasts the deepest bag of tricks in the tournament, capable of playing some of the wildest builds in the tour or simply farming everyone with their trusty Ampharos. The Specters' Partners in Crime games should be an exciting watch every week with tkhanh's constant innovative builds.
3. Frixel - 2.8 - Rage Fist and Furious
Former OSDT champion Frixel makes his return to OMPL and reunites with his previous managers SammyCe123 and Ivar57. Even with his slightly underwhelming 3-4 finish last time around, he is still one of the most fundamentally sound players, bringing all of his Doubles OU experience over to this more frenetic format. His overall strength combined with his numerous tour accolades position him as one of the favorites to do well this year.
4. Chris32156 - 4.6 - Commanders
Partners in Crime debutant Chris32156 is undoubtedly a strong doubles player, with experience across multiple generations and prior appearances in OMPL in the days of 2v2. He's been blessed with the luxury of having not one but two doubles-playing managers supporting him. His success this season will largely depend upon the building prowess of Partners in Crime leader HiZo, who will always have something we've never seen before ready for his player.
5. SeaLife - 4.8 - Noxious Nightshades
OSDT V finalist SeaLife once again steps into the OM arena, having had a fairly up-and-down time over the last couple of tournaments. Their debut was in OMPL XIII with a 0-2 record, before bouncing back with a 2-0 record in OMCL. In support, they have former Partners in Crime leader jasprose, who is a solid enough right hand to SeaLife despite not actively playing Partners in Crime as much anymore. Their record so far has not been indicative of their overall playing strength, so it will be interesting to see if they can prove themselves properly this time around.
6. Idyll - 5 - Charming Charizzards
The Charizzards have Idyll, a solid doubles player in their own right. Their debut into Partners in Crime was a lackluster record of 0-2 in OMWC. This time, they have yuki for support, who is one of the more talented builders in the tier with making concepts such as Quick Attack Volbeat with good success but is not starting. This dynamic duo's success in the pool will depend on whether Idyll can get used to the complex mechanics of Partners in Crime and to piloting yuki's esoteric style.
7. LogIce - 5 - Ao No Hakamo-o
LogIce makes the jump into OMPL after his last couple of performances in OMFL VI finishing 2-3 and OMCL finishing 2-2. An all-around solid doubles player, he's shown himself to be more than capable in Partners in Crime with a solid PiC Occasional run and being the only person who could take tkhanh down in OMCL. With that in mind, his support feels relatively lackluster, with no other Partners in Crime mains on the team and a genuine lack of building support, so LogIce will need to dig deep to perform this season.
8. NinjaSnapple - 6.8 - Gholden Witches
Footing the Partners in Crime power rankings is NinjaSnapple, a long-time veteran of both Doubles OU and Partners in Crime. Throughout her time in OMs, she's proven herself to be a solid player with mostly limited game time, often providing the supporting role in teams she's been on. This season, she's taken the mantle for the Witches with solid doubles players in Nakano Nino and Fragments around her to support. This team is likely the one with the least specific Partners in Crime acclaim, but being ranked last overall doesn't speak to NinjaSnapple's ability and potential to cause upsets.
1. QT - 1 - Speiraskia Specters
QT ranking this highly should be of no surprise to anyone, as they are the pool's most decorated MnM and BH player, with impressive feats like an undefeated BH record in last year's Bo3 slot as well as going undefeated in MnMPL Bo3. They're no slouch in AAA either, being well-versed in the tier throughout years of tournament play. They've also got council positions on all three of the included tiers, even leading MnM. Just once you think it couldn't get any more unfair, you realize they boast incredible support in all three tiers, with teammates such as Chessking, Greybaum, Treeko928, and Clas. They're definitely the name to beat in the Bo3 pool.
2. SammyCe123 - 2 - Rage Fist and Furious
Back-to-back OM Champ Sammy is back for another OMPL run and is somehow only ranked second, which is surprising. The guy has arguably the strongest individual performances of the past years, but he hasn’t been so active lately, with a 7th place in the OMGS standings so far despite being the indisputable #1 for the last two years. His only Open win is STABmons, which is not relevant here, and he lost quite early in both the AAA and BH Opens. He also went “only” 5-4 last OMPL, which is a bit disappointing for a player of this caliber. However, you probably have noticed how we’re only listing the negative things to justify a #2 rank in one of the most stacked pools of the tour—it says a lot on how much Sammy is respected and feared as an opponent. He is a well-known tryharder that is definitely able to clutch games, he has an insanely strong support in pannu and Ivar, and you know how it is with top players: they impress us the most when we least expect it.
3. TTTech - 3.4 - Ao No Hakamo-o
Being one of the most consistent performers in multi-metagame tours in recent history, Tech ranking this highly should be of no surprise to anyone. Being well-versed in all three tiers with especially impressive results in MnM and BH, he should almost always be favored to take at least one of those home. Often being cited as a "lazy teambuilder," being caught reusing teams and spamming the same core of Pokemon in almost any game possible, you can always count on outbuilding this guy.
4. damflame 3 - 3.6 - Commanders
Being the Bo3 slot on the winning team of the last edition of OMPL, it's no surprise to see damflame this high. While he is no star player in any of the three tiers, he is consistently average in all of them—and consistency is key. With a strong run in AAALT and being known for an interesting approach to BH, damflame brings quite the assortment of experience on his own, not to mention strong support from teammates like Quojova and Lordbox. MnM is a whole other story, where damflame is not really known to perform nor build very...confidence-inspiring teams? Hopefully, support from his team will help shore up this Achilles heel.
5. RoFnA - 3.8 - Noxious Nightshades
Rofna is well known for building bad teams, reusing the same cores over and over again, and using the most cringe nicknames you can imagine. Despite this, he is quite the good clicker, with an especially good record in MnM last year and a myriad of other deep tournament runs across various tiers, notably winning the MnM open and making deep runs in STAB and BH. His team doesn't really bring any meaningful support to speak of, but assuming he can get his hands on half-decent teams, he should be able to make some big waves and is definitely not someone to overlook.
6. Betticus IV - 5.2 - MOCCing Machamps
Betticus is not a name people expected to see here, and yet when we take a look at their recent records, they’ve been performing very well lately. A dominant AAA Open win, a top 4 in MnM, and...an act loss in BH (sigh) are some of the best recent records among all Bo3 players. BH would really be their weak spot, with little experience themselves and no experienced player in their team. On paper, Betticus is also the player with the least experience in OMPL, with 2 OMPLs where they only played in AAA with a cumulative record of 3-7. However, they are probably at their peak right now, and it is time for the #1 mocc player to prove that their average price of 26k in every single mocc was justified!
7. Osake - 6 - Charming Charizzards
While mainly known for AAA, Osake has actually played a decent amount of multi-metagame tournaments, making top 8 in the Circuit Championship and Grand Slam last year. If his own AAA accolades weren't enough, one needn't overlook GlalieGoesBoom, Atha, Ghostlike, and Siamato as support. It may very well be a situation of too many cooks burning the kitchen, but the pair of Atha and Osake have worked extensively with each other in the past, so surely there is some chemistry there. MnM and BH are the more wildcard tiers—Osake allegedly builds those himself to...decent results? The prospect of getting help from Ghostlike and other teammates should surely make up for any gaps in experience he may face. However, in a pool with so many strong players, being just "average" in two tiers may prove to be an Achilles heel.
8. pdt - 7 - Gholden Witches
Back in SM and SS, pdt used to play a lot of OMs. However, since he has taken a sabbatical doing goofy shit like playing in "SCL" and "SPL" and making finals of "Grand Slam," he runs circles around this entire pool in terms of clicking ability and understanding Pokemon as a game. However, he hasn't played any of these tiers in years, and despite relatively good support in AAA and BH, he might struggle to pick these tiers up again. If he should, though, he'll be dangerous.
