SV OU Porygon HO

https://pokepast.es/cf1760af18a30f02
This team brings back a couple of forgotten threats in an attempt to give ‘em a little more shine.

Team consists of Porygon, Blaziken, Serperior, Goodra, Zapdos, and Metagross.

Goodra-Hisui @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sap Sipper
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 140 HP / 52 Atk / 252 Def / 64 SpA
Quiet Nature
- Flash Cannon
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Earthquake

Explanation: Goodras main role on this team is to sponge hits while dealing back damage. With Bolt/Beam plus access to EQ and a stab move, Goodra can break quite effectively. Goodra especially shines against stall as there are no true switch ins and its typing is pretty favorable. It’s also a soft check to Rilla but beware of high horsepower

Blaziken @ Focus Sash
Ability: Speed Boost
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Lonely Nature
- Swords Dance
- Blaze Kick
- Reversal
- Upper Hand

Explanation: Blaziken is an effective sweeper, who if left unchecked will auto win games. Reversal plus sash gives you a stab move that reaches 200 bp at 1% times 1.5 for a whopping 300 bp move . Blaze kick for accurate fire stab with no recoil. Upper hand for any Gambits that haven’t already exhausted. Sash guarantees an SD. From there

Serperior @ Covert Cloak
Ability: Contrary
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Knock Off
- Dragon Pulse
- Protect

Explanation: Serp is Serp. After that first Leaf Storm hits, it’s relatively done. That’s hyperbole but contrary plus leaf storm really is an amazing combination. Dragon Pulse catches unsuspecting Dragon Types and offers coverage while Knock Off forces progress. Protect lets you scout. Ofc you could always use a bulkier set and substitute protect for glare

Porygon-Z @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Download
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Tri Attack
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Shadow Ball

Explanation: Right place, right time this dude can win games. Bolt Beam coverage plus STAB option and Ghost coverage with a ghost Tera leaves almost no switch ins in this current meta. You need the download boost, however, to break effectively. Porygon main role will be to break but the scarf can also allow it to outspeed

Metagross @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Clear Body
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Meteor Mash
- Psychic Fangs
- Knock Off
- Bullet Punch

Explanation: Another Breaker, Metagross is pretty bulky and packs a big punch. Throw in a weakness policy and the one Metagross would’ve taken out can now snowball into 1.5 to as many as 3 mons. Fairly simple. Just click buttons, do damage.

Zapdos @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Static
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def
Bold Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Heat Wave
- Roost
- U-turn

Explanation: Physical Counterpart to Goodra. Try to para as much as possible. U-Turn for guaranteed momentum. Heat Wave and Hurricane are interchangeable, but this team deals with Tusk pretty well, so different coverage is fine here.

All in all, this is just a team full of nukes. Hazards suck. Couldn’t fit removal on the team but hopefully you got Blaziken going before then. Other than that, it’s pretty fun to see other Pokémon get melted by this gang. Have fun and let me know what y’all think !!

Wild team with a ton of underused guys.
I do have to wonder, is this better off in UU perhaps with something like Ogerpon teal mask in place of Serperior?

The team as it is has a lot of problems for serious OU play. No hazard removal and a sash sweeper means lead samurott (or Glimmora, or Deoxys) is going to completely invalidate that slot on your team. Goodra might be able to soak up some hits but lacks a lot of power especially with a defensive EV set, letting set up sweepers with recovery get their groove on for free. Similarly, Porygon-z with scarf isn't as much of a breaker as you might want it to be considering it only does 20% max to blissey and less than 40% to clodsire, the tier's most common special walls. Metagross is extremely slow for a sweeper and many stronger and faster pokemon resist bullet punch to stop a sweep and reverse on you. Zapdos is a usable defensive pokemon but has no real answer to common physical attackers like Gouging Fire or Great Tusk.

If you really like the pokemon on this team and want to play in OU, i would pick one of them to build around and try to use the rest of the slots to support it in a way that works in the metagame as a whole. Otherwise, UU is a great place for a team like this

I think a good fix to make it immediately viable would be to remove Metagross and replace it with a Tusk. A mixed Val set could also substitute for Porygon. A little less fun but much more optimal. Lastly, Goodra with this spread hits a respectable 299 in Sp. ATK. With as much bulk as it has, this is more than enough to blow through frailer breakers. And a super effective EQ coming off 249 isn’t a laughing matter either. I’m a pretty big believer in Goodra and thus far, it’s done me a huge service on this team and others. Thanks for the feedback. I’ll bring the this version of the team down to UU and use annother version with the changes: Metagross to Tusk and Porygon to Valiant. I’ll let you know how it goes. The biggest issue is choosing the tusk set, but seeing as how Metagross operated as a breaker, I’ll try a Bulk Up Tera Ghost set first and go from there. Thanks again !!

Edit: Just realized Blaziken is banned in UU . Serp is also OU, so definitely Ogerpon in that slot. I’ll find a Blaziken replacement soon enough, haha. Thanks again !!
