[Shoddy Warstory (OU)] - A close match down to 1 HP.

Hey everyone, it's spring break for me and since I have nothing much to do I wanted to post a warstory that I just had today. It was a close match and I believed the reason I won was that my opponent underestimated the power and speed of mamoswine. I hope after this warstory people will catch on and start becoming more aware next time they face the mammoth. Since I didn't get the chance to ask my opponent if I could log the warstory, I replaced his name with Opponent. I'm using my very first full OU team [sorry, no crobat in this team :(] and this is my first team ever that uses the pink blob blissey. Don't worry, blissey only made a few appearances so I hope this battle won't bore you.

My team [so many OU stuff here, not my usual style =P]:

Rules: Ladder Match, Sleep Clause, Freeze Clause, OHKO Clause, Evasion Clause, Species Clause, Strict Damage Clause
Opponent sent out Hippowdon (lvl 100 Hippowdon ?).
wdro sent out Gliscor (lvl 100 Gliscor ?).
Hippowdon's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
A sandstorm brewed!

I'm testing gliscor as my lead. It's not a perfect lead but it's good against other leads that try to set up on their first turn.

Gliscor used Taunt.
Hippowdon fell for the taunt!
Hippowdon used Stealth Rock.
Hippowdon can't use Stealth Rock after the taunt!
The sandstorm rages.

No stealth rock for now but from experience if hippowdon doesn't die, it can always come back and set up the rocks later. At least I could get some damage-free switches on my first few turns.

---
Gliscor used Knock Off.
Hippowdon lost 2% of its health.
Gliscor knocked off foe Hippowdon's Leftovers!
Hippowdon used Ice Fang.
It's super effective!
Gliscor lost 41% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

I knew he was gonna use ice fang. The only pokemon that poses a threat to hippo is my milotic but no one would let a hippo stay in anyway so I might as well knock off its precious leftovers.

---
wdro switched in Milotic (lvl 100 Milotic ?).
Hippowdon used Ice Fang.
It's not very effective...
Milotic lost 7% of its health.
Milotic was frozen solid!
The sandstorm rages.

Now I can switch into my milotic, but too bad it got frozen. I wasn't worried though because the freeze was healable. And as you will see later in the game, we both got an even share of luck.

---
Opponent switched in Celebi (lvl 100 Celebi).
wdro switched in Blissey (lvl 100 Blissey ?).
The sandstorm rages.

---
Celebi used Leech Seed.
Celebi's attack missed!
Blissey used Aromatherapy.
Milotic was defrosted!
The sandstorm rages.

He has the ever so annoying celebi which my team doesn't really like. Blissey wouldn't stay in anyway so leech seed or not didn't really matter to me.

---
wdro switched in Gliscor (lvl 100 Gliscor ?).
Celebi used U-turn.
It's not very effective...
Gliscor lost 5% of its health.
Opponent switched in Skarmory (lvl 100 Skarmory ?).
The sandstorm rages.

Don't know why he switched into that.

---
Gliscor used Taunt.
Skarmory fell for the taunt!
Skarmory used Spikes.
Skarmory can't use Spikes after the taunt!
The sandstorm rages.

Nope...

---
Opponent switched in Hippowdon (lvl 100 Hippowdon ?).
Hippowdon's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
Gliscor used Knock Off.
Hippowdon lost 3% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

He caught on and saved his skarmory's precious item.

---
wdro switched in Milotic (lvl 100 Milotic ?).
Hippowdon used Ice Fang.
It's not very effective...
Milotic lost 7% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

I am not going to taunt hippo and eat an ice fang. I predicted a switch to celebi

---
Opponent switched in Celebi (lvl 100 Celebi).
Milotic used Toxic.
Milotic's attack missed!
The sandstorm rages.

---
Milotic used Toxic.
Celebi was badly poisoned!
Celebi used Leech Seed.
Celebi's attack missed!
The sandstorm rages.

I used toxic because even with natural cure, celebi wouldn't be able to stay in if I keep ice beam'ing and grass knot can't 2hko milotic anyway... but just in case I will switch...

---
wdro switched in Blissey (lvl 100 Blissey ?).
Celebi used Grass Knot.
A critical hit!
Blissey lost 23% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

Milotic avoided the lethal hit.

---
wdro switched in Gliscor (lvl 100 Gliscor ?).
Celebi used Leech Seed.
Celebi's attack missed!
The sandstorm rages.

Leech seed missed, that's fair IMO.

---
Opponent switched in Hippowdon (lvl 100 Hippowdon ?).
Hippowdon's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
Gliscor used Knock Off.
Hippowdon lost 3% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

Again, he's probably trying to save celebi's leftovers.

---
Gliscor used Taunt.
Hippowdon fell for the taunt!
Hippowdon used Ice Fang.
It's super effective!
Gliscor lost 39% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

Aww, I thought he would predict a switch to my milotic.

---
wdro switched in Milotic (lvl 100 Milotic ?).
Hippowdon used Ice Fang.
It's not very effective...
Milotic lost 7% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

Ok, he's gonna send celebi in for sure... Just an update, all pokemon on both sides have relatively good health, except for my gliscor.

---
Opponent switched in Celebi (lvl 100 Celebi).
Milotic used Ice Beam.
It's super effective!
Celebi lost 40% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

That took a good chunk out of celebi.

---
Milotic used Toxic.
Celebi was badly poisoned!
Celebi used Recover.
Celebi restored 50% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

Not going to let it recover/stall me so I used toxic forcing a switch.

---
Opponent switched in Skarmory (lvl 100 Skarmory ?).
Milotic used Ice Beam.
Skarmory lost 34% of its health.
Skarmory was frozen solid!
The sandstorm rages.

A useless freeze here because it's gonna defrost next turn.

---
Milotic used Surf.
Skarmory lost 46% of its health.
Skarmory was defrosted!
Skarmory used Spikes.
Spikes were scattered everywhere!
Spikes were scattered around the foe's team!
The sandstorm rages.

Skarmory has below 40% health and milotic can KO with surf. He'll probably switch into celebi but I don't want to take the chances.

---
Opponent switched in Celebi (lvl 100 Celebi).
Milotic used Surf.
It's not very effective...
Celebi lost 13% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

I was right.

---
Celebi used Grass Knot.
It's super effective!
Milotic lost 49% of its health.
Milotic used Toxic.
Celebi was badly poisoned!
The sandstorm rages.

Aw, he figured out how to deal with milotic.

---
wdro switched in Blissey (lvl 100 Blissey ?).
Blissey was hurt by Spikes!
Blissey lost 12% of its health.
Celebi used Recover.
Celebi restored 50% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

I gave celebi a free heal :(

---
Celebi used U-turn.
Blissey lost 13% of its health.
Opponent switched in Tyranitar (lvl 100 Tyranitar ?).
Tyranitar's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
Blissey used Softboiled.
Blissey restored 49% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

Blissey will heal too.

---
wdro switched in Gliscor (lvl 100 Gliscor ?).
Tyranitar used Stone Edge.
Tyranitar's attack missed!
The sandstorm rages.

Some might say I got lucky but sand veil + SE's 80% accuracy, fair enough

---
Opponent switched in Hippowdon (lvl 100 Hippowdon ?).
Hippowdon's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
Gliscor used Earthquake.
Hippowdon lost 18% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

Finally did some damage to hippowdon.

---
wdro switched in Milotic (lvl 100 Milotic ?).
Milotic was hurt by Spikes!
Milotic lost 12% of its health.
Hippowdon used Stealth Rock.
Pointed stones float in the air around your foe's team!
The sandstorm rages.

Aw, should have used taunt but that's inevitable. Time to get a free recover.

---
Opponent switched in Celebi (lvl 100 Celebi).
Milotic used Recover.
Milotic restored 50% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

---
Milotic used Recover.
Milotic restored 32% of its health.
Celebi used Grass Knot.
It's super effective!
Milotic lost 47% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

:@ annoying celebi. I'll send out my lesser uber too.

---
wdro switched in Jirachi (lvl 100 Jirachi).
Jirachi was hurt by Spikes!
Jirachi lost 12% of its health.
Pointed stones dug into Jirachi.
Jirachi lost 6% of its health.
Celebi used Grass Knot.
It's not very effective...
Jirachi lost 3% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

I know it's too early to send out jirachi because I don't know his whole team yet but I need it to stop celebi and see below for how.

---
Jirachi used Substitute.
Jirachi lost 25% of its health.
Jirachi made a substitute!
Celebi used Leech Seed.
But it failed!
The sandstorm rages.

This jirachi is a sweeper so it packs a lot of speed.

---
Jirachi used Calm Mind.
Jirachi's special attack was raised.
Jirachi's special defence was raised.
Celebi used U-turn.
The substitute took damage for Jirachi!
Opponent switched in Heatran (lvl 100 Heatran ?).
The sandstorm rages.

So here jirachi got a free calm mind. He sent out heatran and it's a good opportunity to scout what kind of heatran it is.

---
Jirachi used Thunderbolt.
Heatran lost 34% of its health.
Heatran used Lava Plume.
It's super effective!
A critical hit!
The substitute took damage for Jirachi!
Jirachi's substitute faded!
The sandstorm rages.

Modest, non-scarf/specs heatran. That's good.

---
wdro switched in Blissey (lvl 100 Blissey ?).
Blissey was hurt by Spikes!
Blissey lost 12% of its health.
Pointed stones dug into Blissey.
Blissey lost 12% of its health.
Heatran used Lava Plume.
Blissey lost 17% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

I sent out the boring special wall.

---
Opponent switched in Celebi (lvl 100 Celebi).
Blissey used Softboiled.
Blissey restored 42% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

---
Celebi used Leech Seed.
Blissey was seeded!
Blissey used Flamethrower.
It's super effective!
Celebi lost 28% of its health.
Celebi was burned!
The sandstorm rages.

Hmm, celebi is very sturdy. The burn doesn't really help me either and I gotta get rid of the seeds.

---
wdro switched in Gliscor (lvl 100 Gliscor ?).
Pointed stones dug into Gliscor.
Gliscor lost 12% of its health.
Celebi used Recover.
Celebi restored 34% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

---
Gliscor used Aerial Ace.
It's super effective!
Celebi lost 27% of its health.
Celebi used Grass Knot.
Gliscor lost 36% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

Celebi is pretty sturdy in the physical side too. I gotta do something and hope he doesn't switch out.

---
Gliscor used Knock Off.
It's super effective!
Celebi lost 6% of its health.
Gliscor knocked off foe Celebi's Leftovers!
Celebi used Recover.
Celebi restored 50% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

Celebi without leftovers in sandstorm really hurts it in the long run. From my experience I found it more comfortable to deal with celebi when it doesn't have its leftovers.

---
Opponent switched in Hippowdon (lvl 100 Hippowdon ?).
Hippowdon's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
wdro switched in Jirachi (lvl 100 Jirachi).
Jirachi was hurt by Spikes!
Jirachi lost 12% of its health.
Pointed stones dug into Jirachi.
Jirachi lost 6% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

Aw, I wasted the switch here. He probably predicted it. I thought he's gonna grass knot gliscor.

---
wdro switched in Milotic (lvl 100 Milotic ?).
Milotic was hurt by Spikes!
Milotic lost 12% of its health.
Pointed stones dug into Milotic.
Milotic lost 12% of its health.
Hippowdon used Earthquake.
Milotic lost 28% of its health.
wdro's Milotic fainted.
The sandstorm rages.

My mistake/miscalculation in this game. Residual damage really hurts and my guaranteed hippo smacker is now gone, so I have to send my other risky hippo killer and use its secret weapon that I don't know why other people don't ever use.

1-0

---
wdro switched in Mamoswine (lvl 100 Mamoswine ?).
Mamoswine was hurt by Spikes!
Mamoswine lost 12% of its health.
Pointed stones dug into Mamoswine.
Mamoswine lost 12% of its health.
Opponent switched in Heatran (lvl 100 Heatran ?).
Mamoswine used Blizzard.
It's not very effective...
Heatran lost 8% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

That's really risky of him to switch in heatran. What is he thinking? Did he know beforehand mamo has blizzard that can KO his weakened hippo in one hit? Oh well, thanks to jirachi I know his heatran is slow... Also, mamoswine isn't holding any recovery item so I can fool people into thinking that it's choiced.

---
Mamoswine used Earthquake.
It's super effective!
Heatran lost 77% of its health.
Opponent's Heatran fainted.
The sandstorm rages.

1-1

---
Opponent switched in Skarmory (lvl 100 Skarmory ?).
Mamoswine used Blizzard.
Skarmory lost 31% of its health.
Opponent's Skarmory fainted.
The sandstorm rages.

Did he forget/not see mamoswine's blizzard? Blizzard does an average of 50% to 0 spdef skarmory.

2-1

---
Opponent switched in Celebi (lvl 100 Celebi).

Celebi will probably grass knot mamo so I have to reveal my final pokemon, which happens to be my favourite one!

wdro switched in Gengar (lvl 100 Gengar ?).
Pointed stones dug into Gengar.
Gengar lost 12% of its health.
Celebi used Grass Knot.
It's not very effective...
Gengar lost 25% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.
Gengar is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Gengar lost 6% of its health.
Celebi is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Celebi lost 6% of its health.

Tough decision here. I don't know if he knows, my gengar can KO celebi (~65% health) with shadow ball but I don't want him to switch in ttar because then next turn I'd have to use a move with 70% accuracy to deal with it or die (I don't know what kind of ttar he's running). Gengar has a good amount of health left so I decided to do this:

---
Gengar is tightening its focus!
Celebi used U-turn.
It's not very effective...
Gengar lost 7% of its health.
DawnBringer has left the room.
Foreys has entered the room.
Opponent switched in Garchomp (lvl 100 Garchomp ?).
Gengar used Focus Punch.
Gengar lost its focus and couldn't move!
The sandstorm rages.

Surprise's ruined... Why did he u-turn instead of just switching?? Gengar is always faster and if I had used shadow ball celebi would have been a goner...

---
Garchomp used Dragon Claw.
Gengar lost 43% of its health.
wdro's Gengar fainted.
The sandstorm rages.

I don't know what garchomp it is and I can't risk letting it SD so I have to sac gengar to scout its set. Turns out to be the classic scarf variant. I couldn't make full use of my favourite pokemon.

2-2

---
wdro switched in Mamoswine (lvl 100 Mamoswine ?).
Mamoswine was hurt by Spikes!
Mamoswine lost 12% of its health.
Pointed stones dug into Mamoswine.
Mamoswine lost 12% of its health.
Opponent switched in Tyranitar (lvl 100 Tyranitar ?).
Tyranitar's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
Mamoswine used Ice Shard.
Tyranitar lost 20% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

At this point I will just freely ice shard (I carry two attacks of the same type =D Who says you shouldn't carry two attacks of the same type? That's not true anymore after the special/physical split in DP.)

---
Mamoswine used Earthquake.
It's super effective!
Tyranitar lost 80% of its health.
Opponent's Tyranitar fainted.
The sandstorm rages.

He can't switch into anything, not even its slightly weakened celebi because of the lack of leftovers and mamoswine's awesome physical/special ice attack combo.

3-2

---
Opponent switched in Celebi (lvl 100 Celebi).
wdro switched in Gliscor (lvl 100 Gliscor ?).
Pointed stones dug into Gliscor.
Gliscor lost 12% of its health.
Celebi used Grass Knot.
Celebi's attack missed!
The sandstorm rages.

Celebi has ~67% left and from my experience blizzard does around that much damage (sandstorm hurts too) and I am not sure how fast celebi is even though it is very sturdy and does quite a lot to milotic with grass knot. I can't risk attacking celebi though, due to blizzard's accuracy and RNG and I don't want to abuse it unless it's necessary.

---
Gliscor used Aerial Ace.
It's super effective!
Celebi lost 27% of its health.
Celebi used Recover.
Celebi restored 50% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

My futile attempt..

---
wdro switched in Jirachi (lvl 100 Jirachi).
Jirachi was hurt by Spikes!
Jirachi lost 12% of its health.
Pointed stones dug into Jirachi.
Jirachi lost 6% of its health.
Celebi used Leech Seed.
Jirachi was seeded!
The sandstorm rages.

Wasted my switch here thinking celebi would try to ko gliscor with grass knot.

---
wdro switched in Blissey (lvl 100 Blissey ?).
Blissey was hurt by Spikes!
Blissey lost 12% of its health.
Pointed stones dug into Blissey.
Blissey lost 12% of its health.
Celebi used U-turn.
Blissey lost 15% of its health.
Opponent switched in Garchomp (lvl 100 Garchomp ?).
The sandstorm rages.

There's a chance that blissey can survive its adamant earthquake and if he predicts a switch to gliscor and uses dragon claw, blissey can definitely survive. If he uses outrage, I can revenge kill the next turn. Also he doesn't have any special threats in his team anymore so blissey can go.

---
Garchomp used Dragon Claw.
A critical hit!
Blissey lost 47% of its health.
wdro's Blissey fainted.
The sandstorm rages.

Oh well... This gives me the chance to bring in mamoswine (despite mamoswine's usefulness, it is hard to bring it out).

3-3

---
wdro switched in Mamoswine (lvl 100 Mamoswine ?).
Mamoswine was hurt by Spikes!
Mamoswine lost 12% of its health.
Pointed stones dug into Mamoswine.
Mamoswine lost 12% of its health.
Opponent switched in Hippowdon (lvl 100 Hippowdon ?).
Hippowdon's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
Mamoswine used Ice Shard.
It's super effective!
Hippowdon lost 28% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

Residual damage does 25% each time I send my mamoswine in and now mamo only has ~25% left...

---
Mamoswine used Blizzard.
It's super effective!
Hippowdon lost 47% of its health.
Opponent's Hippowdon fainted.
The sandstorm rages.

Hippo can't wall mamo.

4-3

---
Opponent switched in Celebi (lvl 100 Celebi).
wdro switched in Gliscor (lvl 100 Gliscor ?).

This is important. Mamoswine has 91/361 HP left and guess what? I can afford another switch with ONE HP LEFT. But at this point I think I'm going to lose though because celebi's health is not in blizzard's ko range...

Pointed stones dug into Gliscor.
Gliscor lost 12% of its health.
Celebi used Grass Knot.
Gliscor lost 29% of its health.
wdro's Gliscor fainted.
The sandstorm rages.

Bye gliscor...

4-4
---
wdro switched in Jirachi (lvl 100 Jirachi).
Jirachi was hurt by Spikes!
Jirachi lost 12% of its health.
Pointed stones dug into Jirachi.
Jirachi lost 6% of its health.
Jirachi used Psychic.
It's not very effective...
Celebi lost 14% of its health.
Celebi used Leech Seed.
Celebi's attack missed!
The sandstorm rages.

Jirachi doesn't have enough HP to pull another sub and my hope is to weaken celebi to blizzard's ko range. Luckily leech seed missed so that sucked for him. =\

---
Jirachi used Substitute.
Jirachi lost 25% of its health.
Jirachi made a substitute!
Celebi used Grass Knot.
It's not very effective...
The substitute took damage for Jirachi!
The sandstorm rages.

I now have enough hp to sub while celebi's hp going down thanks to his own sandstorm. Celebi can do nothing now but to sit there while I set up.

---
Jirachi used Calm Mind.
Jirachi's special attack was raised.
Jirachi's special defence was raised.
Celebi used U-turn.
The substitute took damage for Jirachi!
Opponent switched in Garchomp (lvl 100 Garchomp ?).
The sandstorm rages.

Logical choice for him.

---
Garchomp used Earthquake.
It's super effective!
The substitute took damage for Jirachi!
Jirachi's substitute faded!
Jirachi used Psychic.
Garchomp lost 65% of its health.
Garchomp's special defence was lowered.
The sandstorm rages.

Doesn't really matter.

---
Garchomp used Earthquake.
It's super effective!
Jirachi lost 23% of its health.
wdro's Jirachi fainted.
The sandstorm rages.

Jirachi was meant to be sacrificed anyway. I sent it my last pokemon and residual damage brings mamo down to exactly 1 HP. Physical ice attack first... and hope no sand veil hax...

5-4

---
wdro switched in Mamoswine (lvl 100 Mamoswine ?).
Mamoswine was hurt by Spikes!
Mamoswine lost 12% of its health.
Pointed stones dug into Mamoswine.
Mamoswine lost 12% of its health.
Mamoswine used Ice Shard.
It's super effective!
Garchomp lost 35% of its health.
Opponent's Garchomp fainted.
The sandstorm rages.

Finally the hardest pokemon celebi who is at ~57% health, again thanks to sandstorm and knock off :) I have 70% chance of winning... odds are in my favour...

5-5

---
Opponent switched in Celebi (lvl 100 Celebi).
Mamoswine used Blizzard.
It's super effective!
Celebi lost 51% of its health.
Opponent's Celebi fainted.

Yay it hits. Looks like celebi will need to run more speed from now on. =)

I think I'll take my words back. I guess I got a little bit more luck than my opponent (leech seed missing and stuff). However, I think this is a decent battle and the star of this battle is obviously mamoswine. :) lol, most of the warstories posted here often get bashed. I don't know why I spent time on this XD There are actually a lot of text written if you combine all the little comments I made at the end of almost each turn.

Doesn't Blizzard only have a 50% chance of hitting in SS?

Anyways, that was an intense game. I love U-turn Jirachi and Celebi, they can just get so annoying :P.

Actually Blizzard is always 70%, except in Hail...

anyway, nice warstory wdro, a lot of people still have that "mamo weak" that everyone says on the RMT forums =P

Wow. Sorry to say, but you got extremely lucky.

Leech Seed, an 85% accurate move, missed like 5 times out of 6 or 7. Not to mention the missed Grass Knots from Sand Veil. But then you hit with Every Blizzard you throw at him which is a lousy 70%.

It was a decent warstory though. The Gliscor was pretty cool.

Yah but you also have to consider the critical hits and freeze/1-turn thaw hax (although not game breaking) that he got. IIRC, only the miss of the last leech seed would make a difference. =)

I don't know much about probability but I often avoid using blizzard more than once in a row. Blizzard is never mamoswine's main attack. It's like other 70% move like hypnosis. You use it once and that's it.

No Crobo?

Anyway, it was a good match. props on using mixed Mamoswine, most people don't bother using Blizzard on it, despite its usefulness.

None of the Critical Hits he got against you mattered and as you said the freeze was pointless. You got lucky with so many leech seed missing you avoided some nice indirect damage there and blizzard not missing once was very nice.

wdro see PM box ;O

No Crobo?

Anyway, it was a good match. props on using mixed Mamoswine, most people don't bother using Blizzard on it, despite its usefulness.
Thanks! And yah, no crobo. I originally planned on making a new team and then I kept adding the same pokemon from my old team and ended up only swapping two pokemon out. Haha

Just curious, what item are you using on mamoswine?

Nice story. Celebi is an annoying little fuck! props on a good match
People are going to call me n00b if I tell you this... It's nevermeltice :P It boosts both ice shard and blizzard's base power by 20%. Not as good as life orb but you don't lose the 10% health after each attack and it's so easy for your opponent to do multiple switches to wear mamoswine down. Plus, you can fool your opponent into thinking that mamo is carrying a choice item.

None of the Critical Hits he got against you mattered and as you said the freeze was pointless. You got lucky with so many leech seed missing you avoided some nice indirect damage there and blizzard not missing once was very nice.
Yah, exactly what I said but I think only the last leech seed missing mattered. I just had another match and the first two times that blizzard was used at separate times and they missed, but surely that didn't cost me the game. So I still get a fair share of missing if you count my other games as a whole.

A good strategy is taunting a Pokemon, and then immediately switching to something that resists all of it’s attacks. In the beginning, you should have Taunted Hippowdon, and then switched to something else that Hippowdon can’t do anything to, like Milotic. Pokemon that rely on setting up or using status effects, are normally harmless otherwise, unless they can hit you for super effective. Also, it was risky taunting for you, in case he Ice Fanged first. He didn’t, but then you stayed in and lost a chunk of your health. The move was half successful, but not completely. Good job taunting though.

Aromatherapy Blissey was really helpful here, as there’s not much you can do to prepare for getting frozen.

Nice job taking out Heatran like that. Most people expect Mamoswine to be choiced, and although I believe CB Mamoswine to be the best, you can score a lot of kills with the unexpectedness.

Again, Mamoswine scores another kill via not being Banded. Losing Tyranitar in vain really hurts. I also think a lot of the reason I hear SOME people talk about Tyranitar being overrated, is because they let him die too easy. Tyranitar really isn’t overrated at all, he just has to score kills in order to be effective.

I notice a lot that you avoid using your attacks with low accuracy unless you need to. You sacrifice what could potentially be a big reward, and deal with your threats in a different manner. This isn’t bad or good, merely a different playstyle than everyone else, and I think it’s unique. It’s good to have a different playstyle from everyone. It makes you harder to predict. At the same time however, a good player will catch on to your safe playstyle, and can predict you from there. My advice would be to keep your safe playstyle, but throw out some risky attacks here and there to keep the unpredictability factor alive.

A lot of mistakes players make, is when they have a setup Pokemon, they try to set up immediately, and it really ends up screwing them. A good example is…Let’s say, DD Salamence. Blissey is perhaps now the most common switch in to Salamence. You bring in Salamence, DD on their switch to Blissey. Now you have one Dragon Dance, and even with the attack boost, Brick Break is not going to kill Blissey, and Mence is going to die in one hit to Ice Beam. If you switch out now, Blissey gets a free turn, and not only did you waste a turn, but now your opponent knows which kind of Salamence you’re running. With Jirachi, don’t Calm Mind immediately. Go for the damage first, and just keep it to simple attacks, whittling down their HP early game. Jirachi will most likely last till late game, due to it’s good tanking ability, and that’s when you want to CM up and sweep. Versus good players, you’re never going to be able to set up turn one and sweep your opponent’s team, whether you’re using DD Gyarados, CM Jirachi, or Swords Dance Lucario. It just doesn’t work versus good players. Just keep that in mind, it really will help you in the long run.

Overall good job. I felt the need to post my thoughts because, I remember when I started playing Pokemon in the summer. My first WiFi match ever was against you. Your Crobat got off a hypnosis, and swept my entire team lol. It was like 5-0 or something. Anyways, good to see you again. Keep up the good work.

Yes! Go Mamoswine! I <3 Mamoswine.

However, I do have to agree that the luck-hax fairies were looking down on you favorably in this match. Blizzard never missed and Leech Seed missed repeatedly. If just one or two of those attacks had gone the other way, it would have been game over.

Buuuuutttt.... excellent use of Mamoswine, so I give it a thumbs up. LOL @ nevermeltice.

Hey, I remember you! You kind of summarized my play style here. Nice work. Hippowdon's ice fang didn't do much to gliscor. Gliscor only lost 35% health after factoring in the leftovers, so I knocked off its leftovers to cripple my opponent's tank. Next time maybe I will try to play safe and switch and see what happens.

Oh btw, my crobat never had hypnosis because brave bird + hypnosis are illegal ;)

I still say my opponent and I got around the same amount of luck, maybe a little bit more for me, well just very little. I only used blizzard 4x in the whole game at different times: hitting heatran for a pityful 8%, finishing off a weakened skarmory and then a hippowdon, and finally celebi, while that celebi kept on spitting out seeds everytime it was sent in.

Thanks for the thumbs up!

nice warstory

I made it half way (thats the first time I actualy take the time to read that little!!!!!!!! ) :D

Why do people use Never Melt Ice on Mamoswine (you're not the first) when Expert Belt is available? It gives the same boost for Ice-type moves on most of the things you're going to be using Ice-type moves against, and it helps out Earthquake and Stone Edge as well.

I'll finish reading this later, a few errunds to run before I can finish this. It's been ok so far. ^_^

It allows blizzard to 2hko 0 sp.def skarmory without leftovers and 2hko skarmory with leftovers if stealth rock is up. It also has a chance to 2hko weezing in sandstorm. It also allows ice shard to 2hko gengar too. I thought about expert belt because it makes earthquake more likely 1hko bulky metagross and tyranitar. But I prefer nevermeltice. I guess it depends on your team. Now sure if I'm the first or not, but I have been using nevermeltice not long after I joined shoddy in last Oct. I should definitely test expert belt again.

wdro, this warstory official makes you fucking awesome. This warstory shows how innovative sets(such as Blizzard Mamoswine) can wreak havok on unprepared teams. My opinion is biased because you run essentially all of the same sets I do.... but anyway this was a very enjoyable read.

Makes me want to use Blizzard on my Mamoswine. I'm curious as to what your other move was aside from EQ/Ice Shard/Blizzard, cause I want to run BlizzardSwine but I have trouble picking a move :(.
Anyway good job although you did get pretty lucky there.

I don't get why people don't use Blizzard at all. Turning Skarmory from a counter to a free kill is why so many pokes have Fire Blast on them.

Ice Shard already OHKOs dragons with a Life Orb (or Nevermeltice) boost.

Also Nevermeltice reduces fire damage. I'm not sure by how much, but its something...
