- U-turn / Protect

[SET COMMENTS]
Jirachi is a great support Pokemon on Psychic teams due to its great bulk, wide array of utility options, and ability to maintain pressure via U-turn and Serene Grace-boosted Iron Head. Iron Head in conjunction with Serene Grace allows Jirachi to annoy Pokemon like Alolan Muk, Articuno, and Clefable. Body Slam punishes switch-ins like Great Tusk and Quagsire by having a notable chance to paralyze them due to Serene Grace. Alternatively, Thunder Wave may be used to have a higher chance of paralysis and affect Ghost-types, while Wish enables Jirachi as a cleric, synergizing well with U-turn. U-turn preserves momentum and permits Jirachi to escape unfavorable situations against Quagsire, Gholdengo, Skarmory, and Gliscor. Protect may be used instead to capitalize on Leftovers recovery and scout for super effective moves from foes, playing around Choice-locked users; however, the lack of U-turn means Jirachi can't maintain momentum. Stealth Rock is useful to wear down pivots and offers additional pressure in difficult matchups such as Dark, Ghost, and Water. The given EV spread maximizes Jirachi's special bulk, notably letting it survive a Shadow Ball from Choice Specs Flutter Mane as well as outpace Adamant Mamoswine.

Slowbro forms a great defensive core with Jirachi, walling threats such as Gouging Fire, Cinderace, and non-Choice Band Excadrill while also checking Ceruledge if Slowbro has no item. Furthermore, Slowbro is capable of luring in and beating Dark-type Pokemon like Chien-Pao, Kingambit, and Roaring Moon via Body Press in conjunction with a Colbur Berry. In return, Jirachi offers a Poison immunity and is capable of switching into special attackers like Alolan Ninetales and Choice Specs Latios. Hoopa-U threatens Pokemon like Gholdengo, Spectrier, and Pecharunt while also providing Knock Off support, removing Heavy-Duty Boots from foes to capitalize on Jirachi's Stealth Rock. In exchange, Jirachi offers pivoting via U-turn and utility moves like Stealth Rock and Thunder Wave to improve Hoopa-U's wallbreaking. Latios boasts a much-needed Ground immunity and breaks through threats like Gouging Fire, Archaludon, and Keldeo. Hatterene prevents opposing entry hazards from being set and threatens Dark-types such as Roaring Moon and Hydreigon via Draining Kiss. Indeedee sets up Psychic Terrain, making it harder for Azumarill to break out of Jirachi's Iron Head and paralysis spam, as well as offering a Ghost immunity to fend off Spectrier and Hisuian Zoroark. Iron Boulder is a great option for speed control and removes Fire-types such as Ogerpon-H, Hisuian Arcanine, and Volcarona with Mighty Cleave. Espathra appreciates Stealth Rock and Thunder Wave support from Jirachi easing its sweeping process late-game. At +2, Deoxys-S paired with BoltBeam coverage threatens a plethora of threats to Jirachi like Choice Specs Greninja, the Landorus formes, and Gliscor.

Jirachi is a staple on Psychic teams due to its great bulk, wide array of utility options, and ability to maintain pressure via U-turn and Serene Grace-boosted Iron Head. As previously mentioned, Iron Head in conjunction with Serene Grace allows Jirachi to annoy Pokemon like Alolan Muk, Articuno, and Clefable. Body Slam deals decent chip damage against Iron Head-resistant Pokemon and has a notable chance to paralyze foes due to Serene Grace. Alternatively, Thunder Wave may be used to have a more guaranteed chance of paralysis and to also have effect on Ghost-types while Wish enables Jirachi as a cleric, synergizing well with U-turn. U-turn preserves momentum and permits Jirachi to escape unfavorable unfavourable situations against Greninja, Ogerpon-W, and Hoopa-U.(Most Hoopa-U sets to flat out nuke Jirachi, you can put meow or Ting-Lu. If you decide to keep Hoopa-U, just specify the set honestly.) Protect may be used instead to capitalize on Leftovers recovery and to scout for super-effective moves from opponents. (Also scouts for Choice-locked mons as well. Mention the downside of running protect over U-turn. lack of momentum ;w;) Stealth Rock is useful to wear down pivots and offers additional pressure on difficult matchups such as Dark and Water. (Ghost match up too, Ceruledge hates Stealth Rock.) The given EV spread maximizes Jirachi's specially defensive bulk as well as outpaces Adamant Mamoswine.

Slowbro forms a great defensive core with Jirachi, providing a Fire-type resist immunity and walling threats such Talonflame, Cinderace, and Infernape. Furthermore, Slowbro is capable of luring in Dark-type Pokemon like Chien-Pao, Kingambit, and Roaring Moon via Body Press in conjunction with a Colbur Berry. In return, Jirachi offers a Toxic immunity and is capable of switching into Grass-type Pokemon such as Hydrapple, Amoonguss, and Whimsicott. Hoopa-U threatens Pokemon like Gholdengo, Spectrier, and Pecharunt while also providing Knock Off support, removing Heavy-Duty Boots from foes to capitalize on Jirachi's Stealth Rock. In exchange, Jirachi offers pivoting via U-turn and utility like Stealth Rock and Thunder Wave to improve Hoopa-U's wallbreaking. Latios boasts a much needed Ground-type immunity and breaks through threats like Gouging Fire, Keldeo, and Gengar. Hatterene prevents opposing Spikes from being set (not just spikes, all forms of hazards.) and hits Dark-types such as Roaring Moon, Hydreigon, and Ting-Lu via Draining Kiss. Indeedee sets up Psychic Terrain, making it harder for Azumarill to break out of Jirachi's Iron Head and paralysis spam as well as offers a Ghost-type immunity to fend off Spectrier and Ceruledge. Jirachi is a staple (its not really a stapler nowadays because Metagross w/ priority bullet punch is pretty cool, but Jirachi's main thing is pivoting + twave support) on Psychic teams due to its great bulk, wide array of utility options, and ability to maintain pressure via U-turn and Serene Grace-boosted Iron Head. As previously mentioned, Iron Head in conjunction with Serene Grace allows Jirachi to annoy Pokemon like Alolan Muk, Articuno, and Clefable. Body Slam deals decent chip damage against Iron Head-resistant Pokemon (Iron head resistant mons....can be steel types which you dont really care about [in case of Archa, Body Slamming it is even quite detrimental]. Body Slam can be used against great tusk coming in to catch jirachi, though you can mention other mons like Quagsire if you want to though) and has a notable chance to paralyze foes due to Serene Grace. Alternatively, Thunder Wave may be used to have a more guaranteed chance of paralysis and to also have effect on Ghost-types while Wish enables Jirachi as a cleric, synergizing well with U-turn. U-turn preserves momentum and permits Jirachi to escape unfavorable situations against Greninja, Ogerpon-W, and Meowscarada (these mons never come into you, nor do you want to stay in and eat a hit before pivoting out. Checks like Quagsire, Gholdengo, Skarmory/Gliscor would be more apt). Protect may be used instead to capitalize on Leftovers recovery and to scout for super-effective moves from opponents, playing around Choice-locked users, however, the lack of U-turn means Jirachi can't maintain momentum. Stealth Rock is useful to wear down pivots and offers additional pressure on difficult matchups such as Dark, Ghost and Water. The given EV spread maximizes Jirachi's specially defensive bulk (notably, its able to survive Specs Mane Sball for instance [at full]) as well as outpaces Adamant Mamoswine.

Slowbro forms a great defensive core with Jirachi, providing a Fire-type resist and walling threats such Talonflame, Cinderace, and Infernape (all of these are uncommon except for Cinderace, Talon doesnt use a fire move that much. Gouging Fire, non-CB Exca, are some mons it walls though. Oh, also Ceruledge if you're itemless bro since Jirach recklessly Iron Heading can lead to bad consequences,). Furthermore, Slowbro is capable of luring in Dark-type Pokemon like Chien-Pao, Kingambit, and Roaring Moon via Body Press in conjunction with a Colbur Berry. In return, Jirachi offers a Toxic immunity and is capable of switching into Grass-type Pokemon such as Hydrapple, Amoonguss, and Whimsicott (it is not capable of swapping into all of these, hydrapple can carry Substitute + EP and Jirachi cannot break substitute, you dont want to duel amoon because you can get spored + Foul Play/Rocky Helmet is bad, Whimsicott can stun spore you which is far from ideal. Being able to check Fairies is already something going for it). Latios boasts a much needed Ground-type immunity and breaks through threats like Gouging Fire, Keldeo, and Gengar (this is a speedtie. If using Choice specs, it also busts through meanies like Archaludon and Corv/Gliscor tho). Hatterene prevents opposing entry hazards from being set and hits (hits is a bit odd, maybe a different wording for these dark meanies instead? None of these three guarantees that Hatt would win, except maybe Hydrei) Dark-types such as Roaring Moon, Hydreigon, and Ting-Lu via Draining Kiss. Indeedee sets up Psychic Terrain, making it harder for Azumarill to break out of Jirachi's Iron Head and paralysis spam as well as offers a Ghost-type immunity to fend off Spectrier and Ceruledge (not cerul, bitter blade sucks). Iron Boulder is a great option for Speed control and removes Fire-types such as Ogerpon-H, Hisuian Arcanine, and Volcarona with Mighty Cleave. Espathra appreciates Stealth Rock and Thunder Wave support from Jirachi, easing its sweeping process late-game.

The given EV spread maximizes Jirachi's special bulk, (SC > C) notably being able to letting it survive a Shadow Ball from Choice Specs Flutter Mane as well as outpace Adamant Mamoswine.

Slowbro forms a great defensive core with Jirachi, walling threats such as Gouging Fire, Cinderace, and non-Choice Band Excadrill while also checking Ceruledge if Slowbro has no item. Furthermore, Slowbro is capable of luring in and beating (press + colbur isn't how it lures dark-types in) Dark-type Pokemon like Chien-Pao, Kingambit, and Roaring Moon via Body Press in conjunction with a Colbur Berry. In return, Jirachi offers a poison Poison immunity and is capable of switching into special attackers like Alolan Ninetales and Choice Specs Latios. Indeedee sets up Psychic Terrain, making it harder for Azumarill to break out of Jirachi's Iron Head and paralysis spam, (AC) as well as offers offering a Ghost immunity to fend off Spectrier and Hisuian Zoroark. Iron Boulder is a great option for speed control and removes Fire-types such as Ogerpon-H, Hisuian Arcanine, and Volcarona with Mighty Cleave. Espathra appreciates Stealth Rock and Thunder Wave support from Jirachi (RC) easing its sweeping process late-game. At +2, Deoxys-S paired with BoltBeam coverage threatens a plethora of threats to Jirachi like Choice Specs Greninja, the Landorus formes, and Gliscor.

Jirachi may use Healing Wish as a cleric option to give sweepers like Deoxys-S, Iron Crown, and Espathra second chances to threaten foes; however, it is typically situational and means Jirachi has to give up more standard utility options.

Alternatively, Thunder Wave may be used to have a more guaranteed higher chance of paralysis and to also have effect on affect Ghost-types, while Wish enables Jirachi as a cleric, synergizing well with U-turn. U-turn preserves momentum and permits Jirachi to escape unfavorable situations against Quagsire, Gholdengo, Skarmory, and Gliscor. Protect may be used instead to capitalize on Leftovers recovery and scout for super (RH) effective moves from foes, playing around Choice-locked users; however, the lack of U-turn means Jirachi can't maintain momentum. Stealth Rock is useful to wear down pivots and offers additional pressure on in difficult matchups such as Dark, Ghost, and Water.
