1: Introduction
gm, it is me, cat smogon real. you may know me from SmogCord or OMcord, where despite the allegations, i am not a larper; the OM forums, where i yap in the AAA thread and various other OMs i may play; or from the OM C&C subforum, where i write and QC because its fun (not for the larp). Those in the know know that i love spamming HO, especially in the millions of random suspects i have done, so hopefully this RMT being screens wont be much of a surprise.

2: Teambuilding Process

:poke ball: :gholdengo: :poke ball: :poke ball: :poke ball: :poke ball:
I was wondering to myself one day and theorymonned Weak Armor Gholdengo. Nothing ever came out of it until during one of Sylvi's OMPL games, where they brought NP Rattled Ghold, which brought back the idea of Weak Armor Gholdengo as a lingering thought in my head.

:Corviknight: :gholdengo: :poke ball: :poke ball: :poke ball: :poke ball:
In traditional cat fashion, the best way to enable setup threats is to pair it with screen setters, and Corviknight's good typing and bulk makes it my preferred option for screens setting.

:Corviknight: :gholdengo: :Deoxys-Speed: :poke ball: :poke ball: :poke ball:
I wanted a cleaner that could finish up after the rest of the team had done its thing that could also do some wallbreaking midgame, so I settled on NP Deo-S initially, but I ended up using Mixed 4a.

:corviknight: :gholdengo: :Deoxys-Speed: :Cresselia: :poke ball: :poke ball:
Ladder taught me a valuable lesson - I need a "get out of jail free" card against random setup sweepers and most importantly, against Dnite. CM didn't feel spectacular on this team so I settled with a more utility-based set.

:Corviknight: :gholdengo: :Deoxys-Speed: :Cresselia: :zamazenta: :poke ball:
The team felt awfully weak to the broken Dark-types, so I wanted a good screens abuser who scares them out. IronPress Zamazenta fits the role perfectly, and is kinda broken honestly.

:Corviknight: :gholdengo: :Deoxys-Speed: :Cresselia: :zamazenta: :Roaring moon:
I wanted more immediate power and something that could be fast consistently, so I settled with DD Roaring Moon, something you will consistently see on my previous screens iterations.

:Corviknight: :gholdengo: :volcarona: :Cresselia: :zamazenta: :Roaring moon:
Deoxys-S wasn't doing too much and I wanted another broken setup sweeper, so I swapped it out for SFLO Volcarona, the horrendously broken guy that 2HKOes everyone.

:Corviknight: :gholdengo: :volcarona: :dragonite: :zamazenta: :Roaring moon:
This team is now really weak to Dnite, so I concluded having my own faste Dnite would work well here.

:Corviknight: :gholdengo: :volcarona: :dragonite: :zamazenta: :Iron Crown:
Roaring Moon wasnt doing too much against fatter Corv structures, so I added Iron Crown, another fishy setup sweeper that could do well into balance teams.
3: Individual Descriptions

:sv/corviknight:
minisode1: (Corviknight) @ Light Clay
Ability: Prankster
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 252 HP / 192 Def / 64 Spe
Impish Nature
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Taunt
- U-turn

Corviknight is the screens setter imo, with a neutrality to rocks, immunity to spikes, great typing and bulk, and relatively low speed allowing it to be a screens setter that can get screens up around twice per game at best, while being able to "slow" pivot out and getting a sweeper in safely. 64 EVs get the jump on Prankster Spidops which ladder seems to love for whatever reason.

:sv/gholdengo:
Ghosting (Gholdengo) @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Weak Armor
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 32 Def / 252 SpA / 224 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Shadow Ball
- Make It Rain
- Psyshock

Ghosting is the first song of the minisode, and describes the experience of the speaker of being ghosted, with lines like "you disappeared for a moment, you disappeared // like a faint ghost" (translated) depicting how it feels like to suddenly be cut out from a love one's life.

NP Ghold can be frightening to play against, honestly. Psyshock is a neat tech that breaks SpDef walls like Swampert and SpDef Mana, for the 3 people still using that. 224+ Speed outspeeds Scarf Meow at +2. Ghold has some pretty nasty bulk under screens and can live all sorts of hits which can make Swampert and non-CB Moon setup fodder. Ghold functions best as a mid-game breaker or as a cleaner late-game since it can force holes into special walls pretty easily and takes advantage of a weakened special wall.

:sv/volcarona:
Blue Hour (Volcarona) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
Tera Type: Bug
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Fire Blast
- Bug Buzz
- Psychic

Blue Hour portrays the speaker's complicated feelings while while looking up at the sky at 5:53 PM, which is the sunset time for October in South Korea (the month and place the song was released). It is also the time of the day ‘between the two worlds’—when the sky is the most beautiful, but also the time when shadows quickly grow. (adapted from Genius)

Volcarona is really terrifying to play against since it has the raw power to 2HKO basically everything in the tier rn, barring bulky WBB Steels and Unaware Blobs. Hisuian Goodra gets a special mention since it technically avoids the 2HKO by phazing Volcarona but it can't switch in safely ever. Realistically you have to sack something every time it comes in (unless they have a Pert, more on that later) and send in a revenge killer. Under screens, that's a really narrow list of guys and its basically AJet Barra and Dnite. Psychic has good odds of OHKOing Zapdos from full so I'm using that over Giga Drain.

:sv/dragonite:

We Lost The Summer (Dragonite) @ Life Orb
Ability: Aerilate
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 52 HP / 252 Atk / 204 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Extreme Speed
- Ice Spinner
- Roost

We Lost The Summer depicts the speaker's experiences during the pandemic and focuses on the theme of isolation throughout the song, with lyrics like "We lost the summer, when we lost each other" conveying the speaker's feelings of loneliness and how empty it feels to spend a summer without friends.

It's Dragonite. Nothing much you can say about it really, everyone knows what he does. 204+ Speed and Ice Spinner lets you outspeed and OHKO Psysurge Deo-S and ScarfZelf at +2 while letting you spam terrain after that. Dragonite helps to patch up the team's weaknesses like CB Moon by forcing it out and being a scary setup threat in general. Roost lets you stay healthy and gives you a fair shot at beating checks like Fluffy Corv while helping to negate rocks chip since we are hazard control-less.

:sv/zamazenta:
Wishlist (Zamazenta) @ Leftovers
Ability: Scrappy
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 252 Def / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Body Press
- Iron Defense
- Substitute
- Heavy Slam

Wishlist is about... getting a birthday gift for someone, but you don't know what they want. Yeah. I can't really give much of an analysis of the song if it isnt that deep...

Zamazenta provides another good Roaring Moon answer, while checking a ton of other guys like Kingambit and Chien-Pao. Heavy Slam 2HKOes Scream Tail on the switch, but with careful playing Scream Tail can get out of 2HKO range when paired with Corv and using Protect to grab enough healing. It's kinda like a get-out-of-jail-free card for some matchups, an instant win button in others, or dead weight in some Pecha teams. Zamazenta acts best as a mid-game breaker that can get good damage on threats like Dragonite.

:sv/iron crown:
Way Home (Iron Crown) @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Tinted Lens
Tera Type: Steel
EVs: 40 Def / 252 SpA / 216 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 20 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Agility
- Tachyon Cutter
- Stored Power

Way Home is... about the way home from school... It is a pretty sweet song (Wishlist is too!) and has really beautiful lyrics that can help make the song come to life.

Iron Crown is the epitome of matchup fishing. Manaphy or Pert looks like a solid answer but they take a million from Stored Power after clicking Knock and now you've basically won the game, gg. It's really hard to stop once it gets going (unless you have like, Kingambit) but also needs good positioning to enable it to set up. 216 Speed creeps Scarf Meow at +2. Iron Crown enables the other setup sweepers pretty well here so using it early-midgame to start breaking down teams or going for the win is recommended.

4: Bad Matchups

Stall

Thank god Stall is equally as matchup-fishy as HO is! But really, it can be really tough to break defensive cores of Pecha + Unaware Blob + ID Skarm/Chesnaught so you'll need to pray to god if you want to win

No Guard Zapdos
There isn't much that can switch in safely against it and at worst you can trade Volcarona with it, but it is extremely annoying to deal with and can be tilting in the case of unfortunate paralysis procs.

Sash + Setup
The most notable would be Polteageist, which has a god mu into this team and needs to be played against with caution.

Cteamers
I've gotten cteamed like, twice on ladder, one with WBB Rock Slide Heatran + Fluffy Work Up Daschbun (LOL?? like if you need to resort to that bad a set you need to get a job), the other with Prankster Encore + Haze Primarina + Stamina BP Zama (??? at least you did dm me saying you needed to cteam me, respect)

5: Shoutouts

It's been a fun ride. Never in my wildest dreams would I expect to win OMPL. ily Wokes.

If you hang out in compgen you may know that I've been planning to take a break for a while now. Mons has taken its toll mentally and irl while also not being as fun anymore personally. Thank you to everyone who I've hanged out with; this past year and a half has definitely shaped me for the better.
