Pet Mod Generation X - The Next Chapter (Region 4: Brunica) [Slate 12: Pseudo-Legendary + Exceptional Evolution]

Should we have a Generational Gimmick akin to Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, Dynamax and Terastalizaiton?

  • Poll closed .
First sub review for this slate, veto-worthy things are listed in red.
Hippopotas-Brunica, Hippowdon-Brunica; Snoadder, Vipartic
House Hippo: House Hippo go brrrrr. Healing nature makes this less frail against Poison-types.
Snow Snakes: Slightly outspeeds Elkrosis and has slightly better special bulk at the slight cost of offense.
Brunican Firack, Brunican Fiarsho
Wildpyre is still going to burn it alive, Flash Fire or not. In a normal 6v6 singles scenario, Last Respect's max power matches Astral Barrage or Shadow Force, so it's definitely more managable than adding 50 BP every time a friend dies.
Mimikursa, Mimiring, Mimiluna, Mimiluna-Blood Moon
(can I also include Teddiursa as part of the regional dex with this sub because the sub doesn't make sense without it being part of the region)
For the easier issue, as mentioned as the final blurb under the rule blurb, you can nominate any previously introduced line to be part of the regional dex, including giving them adjustments. (take a look at the others)
Onto the Teddy bears. The first two stages are acceptable, but it's Mimikuna, particularly Blood Moon who has me concerned. We don't particularly have many Water, Ice or Grass (Dark & Ghost types are not considered because of their Eclipse Ability) who have the capability to at least 2HKO those two. Move at least 15 points from both Defenses each to their lesser offensive stat.

Harking back to the early Pokémon Rangers of Hoenn, this set of submissions is entirely made of Grass-types, enjoy!

All three have short, stubby black arms and legs, and have black eyes and smile. Never seen alone, the three Pokémon that make up Dreamlings always work together to solve any problem that presents itself in front of them. For some odd reason, they always seem to compete against each other when they see an island.

Name: Larouse (Pedicularis + Louse)
Evolution: Furbistation by levelling up after it eats a Hopo Berry
Typing: Grass=
Ability: Swarm / Endangered | Grass Pelt
Base Stats: 47/51/39/45/55/60 (297)
Weight: 16.5 lbs.
Notable Moves: Bug Bite, Growth, Leafage, Infestation, Synthesis, Endure, Razor Leaf, Pounce, Powder, Acupressure, Detect, Leaf Storm, Lunge, Last Resort, Rain Dance, Sunny Day, Taunt, Solar Beam, Leech Life, Swift, Trailblaze, Thief, Grassy Terrain, False Swipe, Zen Headbutt, Retaliate, Drain Fang, U-Turn, Energy Ball, Grass Knot, Encore, Giga Drain, Leech Seed, Pain Split, Snatch, Take Down, Hidden Power, Protect, Frustration, Return, Double Team, Facade, Rest, Attract, Natural Gift, Sleep Talk, Snore, Substitute
Flavor: Larouse is a tiny louse Pokémon with a long green body, with four light green legs extending from the bottom. It's head has two wide eyes and a long mouth, alongside two small yellow mandibles. On the back of it's body, serving as it's tail is a miniturized Pedicularis furbishiae, also known as the Furbish's lousewort, a perennial herb found only on the shores of the upper Saint John River in Maine and New Brunswick. This tail is bright green with four bright yellow bulbs extending from each side. A rather endangered Pokémon that resides in forests, it latches itself on other Grass-type Pokémon and slowly feeds on them, causing them great pain in the process.
Bi6DGSC.png

Name: Furbestation (Furbish + Infestation)
Typing: Grass=
Ability: Cloning Genes (From Mustelone and Whiltilus) / Endangered | Grass Pelt
Base Stats: 102/75/77/73/115/40 (482)
Weight: 65.0 lbs.
Notable Moves: Grassy Glide, X-Scissor, Knock Off, Aerial Ace, Crunch, Night Slash, Dark Pulse, Assurance, Hyper Beam, Giga Impact, Bug Bite, Growth, Leafage, Infestation, Synthesis, Endure, Razor Leaf, Pounce, Powder, Acupressure, Detect, Leaf Storm, Lunge, Last Resort, Rain Dance, Sunny Day, Taunt, Solar Beam, Leech Life, Swift, Trailblaze, Thief, Grassy Terrain, False Swipe, Zen Headbutt, Retaliate, Drain Fang, U-Turn, Energy Ball, Grass Knot, Encore, Giga Drain, Leech Seed, Pain Split, Snatch, Take Down, Hidden Power, Protect, Frustration, Return, Double Team, Facade, Rest, Attract, Natural Gift, Sleep Talk, Snore, Substitute
Flavor: Once Larouse eats an endangered Hopo Berry, the berry's chemicals mix in with the Pedicularis furbishiae on it's tail, evolving it into Furbestation. When this happens, it's body changes completley. From it's abodomen, a large thorax with several yellow bulbs extends from the back. On the bottom are several long green legs with green tips on the bottom, and embedded within this thorax is a large green bulb with several yellow bulbs surrounding it. The neck has two thin arms with bright green tips on the ends of them, just like the legs, and attached on the neck is a wide head with yellow mandibles on the bottom, and a large leaf on the top. Using it's excellent metabiolism rate, Furbestation can turn it's Grass-type host into a nest of Larouse eggs in seconds, before dispersing them across the winds to other plants. Of course, they keep some of the plants intact to feed upon.
Name: Endangered
Effect: This Pokémon's stats, except for HP, increase by 15% for every empty slot in the party that is not occupied by a Pokémon. For example, if Furbestation is the only Pokémon in your party, it's stats would increase by 75%, making it's base stats technically 179/132/135/128/202/70 (846!!!)
Permanent: Yes
Ignorable: No
Distribution: Pokémon based off Endangered species.
Name: Hopo Berry
Effect: If a move known by the holder drops to 0 PP, the user eats the Hopo Berry and fully restores that move's PP, before it's speed lowers by 3.
Can Be Removed: Yes
Ignored by Klutz Yes
Fling Power & Effect: 10BP, no special effect
Justification: This berry makes a return appearance from Hisui, now an endangered plant after the trees there stopped growing them. It still restores PP, but it also differenates itself from a Leppa Berry with the effects a Pokémon once had when it ate it in the overworld.
Name: Endless Infestation

Flavor: Medister resembles a clump of petals from the Symphyotrichum anticostense, or Anticosti aster. These purple petals are clumped in a way that they resemble a typical RPG Slime, with two beady eyes and a wide smile decorating it. It wears a large nurse's cap that does'nt even fit it's body, causing it to dip to the side and cover one of the eyes. Said to be the reincarnation of a nurse who failed to cure any patients, it gleefully runs up to Pokémon and tries to cure them of their wounds, even if it ends up injecting them with lethal pathogens in the process. It's said that Medister is blissfully unaware of the death and destruction that it is causing!

From left to right: Antidote Form, Douse Form, Thaw Form, Awakening Form, and Relief Form.
Name: Anticoty (Anticosti + Antibody)
Typing: Grass=
Ability: Nurse
Base Stats: 138/66/70/58/116/50 (498)
Weight: 26.5 lbs.
Notable Moves: Asterjection, Spirit Shackle, Smart Strike, Healing Wish, Toxic, Poison Jab, Play Rough, Hyper Beam, Giga Impact, Absorb, Spite, Sleep Powder, Poison Powder, Stun Spore, Mega Drain, Refresh, Curse, Aromatherapy, Shadow Sneak, Confuse Ray, Recover, Heal Pulse, Calm Mind, Rain Dance, Sunny Day, Reflect, Light Screen, Safeguard, Solar Beam, Shadow Ball, Trailblaze, Nasty Plot, Shadow Claw, Zen Headbutt, Hex, Dark Pulse, Dazzling Gleam, Giga Drain, Gravity, Imprison, Knock Off, Leech Seed, Phantom Force, Poltergeist, Snatch, Throat Chop, Grassy Terrain, Energy Ball, Grass Knot, Take Down, Hidden Power, Protect, Frustration, Return, Double Team, Facade, Rest, Attract, Natural Gift, Sleep Talk, Snore, Substitute
Flavor: Upon evolving, Anticoty resembles a chibified nurse! It comes in one of five different forms, and each one has a different secondary colour and speciality: Antidote Form is gold and specializes in curing poison, Douse Form, is green and specializes in curing burns, Thaw Form is pink and specializes in defrosting others, Awakening Form is cyan and specializes in awakening Pokémon, while Relief Form is bright yellow and specializes in curing others of Paralysis. For an easy reference, replace any instance of gold you see in the following sentences with the color in question. From a round purple body with a golden plus symbol on the middle, two beady little arms with gold tips on the end extend from it. One of these arms is carrying a massive syringe filled with golden liquid, with two green leaves at the tips. Two beady little legs with gold tips at the bottom extend from the bottom, and a wide head extends from the top, with two round golden ears at each side, and a nurse's cap at the top with a gold plus in the middle. Despite it's innocent personality, this Pokémon is a deranged maniac, gleefully injecting Pokémon with status conditions by making them think they are cured of the status they specialize in, even if they're not under that status condition!
Name: Nurse
Effect: On entry, this Pokémon uses it's syringe to cover the enemy area in a pool of healing liquid. This is an entry hazard those properties depend on Anticoty's form:
Antidote Form: When a non-grounded enemy Pokémon is sent out, all allied Pokémon are cured of Poison. This hazard vanishes if a grounded enemy Poison-type Pokémon is sent out. Also known as Antidote Pool.
Douse Form: When a non-grounded enemy Pokémon is sent out, all allied Pokémon are cured of Burn. This hazard vanishes if a grounded enemy Fire-type Pokémon is sent out. Also known as Douse Pool.
Thaw Form: When a non-grounded enemy Pokémon is sent out, all allied Pokémon thaw out of being Frozen. This hazard vanishes if a grounded enemy Ice-type Pokémon is sent out. Also known as Thaw Pool.
Awakening Form: When a non-grounded enemy Pokémon is sent out, all allied sleeping Pokémon instantly wake up. This hazard vanishes if a grounded enemy Psychic-type Pokémon is sent out. Also known as Awakening Pool.
Relief Form: When a non-grounded enemy Pokémon is sent out, all allied Pokémon are cured of Paralysis. This hazard vanishes if a grounded enemy Electric-type Pokémon is sent out. Also known as Relief Pool.

Flavor: Ancone is basically a pinecone, but with a wide spiky leaf extending from the top, and two beady eyes surrounded by a green area. Using this leaf, it showers it's opponents with millions of razor sharp pines, and it likes to stay attached to the tree it was born on, attacking it's enemies from a distance.

Flavor: Upon evolving, Snifir resembles a Fir Tree, though without the bark. On the middle of this fir tree is a black area with two googly eyes coming out from it, just like a Tangela. Two brown stubby feet extend from the bottom, while it's arms are two round pine cannons which they use to shoot opponents from up to 50 miles away. It spends most of the time disguised as a fir tree, usually just standing there for hours on end just to get the target it wants.

Typing: GrassFighting
Ability: Sniper / Quick Draw | Ambush Prowess
Base Stats: 71/101/75/101/68/112 (528)

Flavor: Patripine undergoes a complete change when it fully evolves due to the Scope Lens's construction reacting to the whole of it's body, taking design cues from Mega Man Battle Network's SearchMan EXE. From a wide humanlike body with a fir tree design in the middle, two long human legs extend from it, with spiky fir palms making up it's legs. It's head constists of a round shape with Gallade-like eyes and mouth decorating it. On the top of it's head is a spiky sheet of hair designed off the one on Danganronpa's Makoto Naegi, with a tiny golden communicator device on the side of it. It's two long wide humanlike arms each have a different part on the end: One hand has a simple hand, but the other has a long wooden cube that with a large tube at the end, and a fir pattern on the middle, making it resemble a sniper rifle. This rifle can shoot up to a million pine needles per second, which can puncture even the strongest of armor: It is mostly inspired by Terraria's Razorpine weapon. Finally, as it has now shown a new light upon itself as a sniper that fights for justice (And to make it different it from Syruptitious) it has ditched it's Dark typing and become a Grass/Fighting type. Able to shoot targets from up to 500 miles away, this Pokémon is often employed as an Assassin to take out the most dangerous of opponents.

Flavor: This Purple Saxifrage Pokémon resembles a little seed with a bulbous body and two tiny little legs. A purple saxifrage flower appears on the top, covering it's right eye like a teenage girl. A very shy Pokémon, it will run away on the slightest trace of provocation, and as it does, it leaves behind beautiful flower seeds. As such, people once used it to help sow seeds across bountiful fields.

Flavor: Upon evolving, Gartifoli becomes a lot less shy, now resembling a chibified gardener. From it's body, two little legs are covered by a saxifrage dress, while two arms with purple tips at the end are attached to the body itself. It's flower hair is now a lot longer, and can be detached to serve as a form of fertilizer. It gladly helps people spread soft soil across the land, with the detachable flower hair never seeming to run out of dirt. Of course, it can still spread seeds, and it takes good care of the plants that it grows. In battle, however, it confuses it's foes by scattering the soil across them like a watering can.

Flavor: With one last evolution, Violagarie becomes a beautiful gardener woman! It's legs now extend as much as a human's would, with green spiky tips making up it's feet. The purple tips on it's arms have now become a pair of long saxifrage flowers that it uses as seed cannons, firing them into the hearts of enemies and turning them into a living potted plants. It's long flower hair now extends to the back of the body, and it's dress now has green gems on the tips of them, with a large green gem now on the centre of it's body. Practically a walking garden centre, Violagarie makes sure that the area around it is as beautiful and healthy as possible, helping humans to allow their gardens to prosper. It is sometimes employed to cover towns in beautiful flowers of all sorts of colors.

This is the third time this line's appeared in a slate...getting familiar with it?
:doduo: :dodrio: With the Amotilus line having successfully made it into Brunica, Dodrio is returning for Whiltilus's rivalry with it to make sense. It is also getting a makeover to make it different from other Normal/Flying types: Dodrio is now a == type with access to Axe Kick, Air Dive, Triple Kick, and High Jump Kick, all through the Move Reminder. (Doduo can get Triple Kick as an Egg move too, and both get Jump Kick at level 39, replacing Endeavor which is now an Egg Move, as well as Lunge at level 47) Additionally, it's Run Away ability has become Reckless, and it gets a very unique balm move...

To fix this, Roselia and Roserade will now be able to learn Poison Terrain and Play Rough, while Roserade will additionally be able to gain access to Earth Power, Toxic Shock, and Triple Axel, all via the Move Reminder. Budew will also be able to get Mud Slap as an Egg Move. In addition, Roserade gets access to a new balm move!

Flavor:
A small, weedy lizard Pokémon with a segmented look to its dark red skin and light orange underbelly, Sqamhalia is notable for a pair of short horns jutting up from over its large green eyes, but more importantly, it also has a striking orange, semicircular fin on its back like a Dimetrodon, which it can use to absorb energy from sunlight or even enemy attacks; it also has a leaf-shaped skin flap of the same color on the end of its tail for flair. Its hind legs are longer than its front legs and its tail takes up over half the length of its body, enabling it to stand up in a tripodal position to throw energy blasts from its palms, either Kamehameha- or Hadoken-style. Its feet have three long toes each with pointy tips suggesting claws, allowing it to climb rather well despite its wimpy figure - it's often found clinging to rocky cliffs, tree trunks, and the sides of buildings to bask in the sun, but will scamper away swiftly if confronted, reserving its energy blasts only for when absolutely necessary.

"This cowardly Pokémon senses Aura through the fin on its back, and will quickly flee from even possible danger. If it has to fight, it uses its long tail to prop itself up on its hind legs, allowing it to sling blasts of Aura with pinpoint accuracy."

Flavor:
A vicious, brutal reptilian Pokemon with a somewhat Gen-I feel to it, this predatory beast looks like a cross between a vintage carnivorous tail-dragging theropod, a lizard, and an Asian dragon. It has a relatively long yet thick torso and an even longer tapering tail, its large hind legs and its smaller grasping arms both resembling Charizard's, with three claws each; it can move on either four legs or two depending on which works better. When reared up, it drags its tail along the ground while holding its spine diagonally, retrosaur-style. It has a medium-length, serpentine but muscular neck and a large head with a pair of short horns and huge and powerful jaws full of fangs, somewhat resembling that of Aerodactyl but with a shorter, broader snout and two large saber fangs on the upper jaw that remain visible when the mouth is shut. Instead of a beak, it has a short trunk like Drowsee's, and its horns are longer than Aerodactyl or Charizard with an extra point near the base to resemble antlers; a pair of barbels also extends from near the nostrils like a Fu Manchu mustache. Patches of large, diamond-shaped, overlapping scales are visible upon its sides, neck, and upper limbs, but the belly is ridged like Dragonite's, while the upper surface sports a row of segmented armor plates all the way down the neck, back, and tail as well as a plate like a helmet on top of its head; however, it also has a ridge of fur like a shorter version of Zoroark's mane running down the back of the neck, starting from the forehead to just before the shoulders, and a matching large tuft on the end of the tail; smaller tufts of fur are also visible around its wrists, on its shoulders, and atop each thigh. This fur glows and billows in the air as it uses its special attacks, implying that it channels its power through it. The dorsal sail of the pre-evolution is also taller and more vividly colored, shaped and colored in a manner invoking a sunset. It is primarily golden in color with bronze-colored back armor and horns, and its belly and facial whiskers are cream-colored, while its fur is the same red shade as on Charmeleon's body with the tufts tipped with brick red, and the sail is a striking orange edged with the same red as the fur; the shiny inverses this by having red scales along with brick-red armor and light orange belly/barbels, but golden fur tufts tipped with bronze and a yellowish white sail, like a sunrise rather than a sunset. For both color palettes, the eyes are a fierce lime green with vertical slits for pupils, it's teeth and talons are white, and its snakey forked tongue is a dull pink.

For the role this line would have when used by Campers and Rangers, I figured it'd be an expert tracker - monitor lizards are persistence hunters with a good sense of smell, so it works nicely for Rangers looking for people in need of help, or perhaps evil team grunts in need of being brought in...

Potential Competitive Gameplay:
Wherever Azhdashti goes, destruction and chaos are certain to follow. This hulking beast is slower than molasses, sure, but why outrun your foes when nuking them from afar works just as well? There are actually only four non-Max, non-Z-move special Fighting-type moves in existence (Secret Sword being exclusive to Keldeo and not flavor-appropriate for this big lizard), and I had to use every single one of them here, but they're far from useless in this case, especially with that frankly ridiculous Special Attack stat. Your best bets at Fighting STAB are Aura Sphere for the accuracy and Focus Blast for sheer damage output, though the latter's meh accuracy might be an issue as is tradition. Dragon STAB of course comes in the form of Draco Meteor, but if you want something without recoil, Dragon Pulse is a decent standby as well. Coverage includes Fire, Electric, Grass, Poison, Dark, and Ground-type moves of various effectiveness, meaning it has an answer to every single type it is weak against, though with the prompt specifically calling for Overheat and that being the Fire equivalent to Draco Meteor, you can certainly run that as an insurance measure against Fairy-types which are resistant at the minimum to both STAB options, along with surprising Ice-types if it can get the drop on them. Its slow speed, high defense and rather decent special defense (Fairy-types notwithstanding) also allow for an easier time proccing Berserk, though if it absolutely needs to heal up, it's important to remember that Draining Kiss is a special attack, making it more viable than Drain Punch despite lacking STAB, though Giga Drain isn't a bad idea either if you find yourself up against something weak to Grass. Be aware though that its Speed and physical Attack are basically its dump stats, which can come back to bite it in the tail if it isn't careful - that double-weakness to Fairy is no fun at all.

"As it grapples with its prey, it clamps its jaws upon them to drain their life force, allowing it to heal itself, boost its strength, or project destructive projectiles of dragon energy. Sometimes, though, it can't help but devour its downed adversary in one gulp."

This line is based on several kinds of lizards which were introduced into North America. Canada has rather low lizard diversity but it does have one invasive lizard species, the common wall lizard (Podarcis muralis). Further south, the southern U.S., especially Florida, has had an issue with the Nile monitor (Varanus niloticus). Monitor lizards are named because they rear up on their hind legs to see better, but also to fight like wrestlers over mates and territory - hence the Fighting type for this line. The generic name Varanus is derived from the Arabic waral, meaning "lizard beast", and as it turns out, Islam is the second-largest religion in Canada, practiced by approximately 5% of the population! The evolution is thus based on the Azhdaha, a dragon from Persian mythology which is said to be vicious and destructive like a European dragon, but has an appearance more an Asian dragon, though with a few unique twists like a trunk on its nose. This sort of transitional nature does make sense given how the Middle East is sandwiched between the two continents, but this design also incorporates characteristics of Japanese kaiju like many Kanto designs did. Persia was situated in the region that would eventually become modern-day Iran, so I referenced the Iranian form of wrestling to inform the overall design, as it is heavily ritualized and based largely on display with body contact being done only in the climactic match. Both stages also take cues from the old practice of slurpasaurs, the colloquial term for gluing rubber features like fins, spikes, and horns onto lizards or other reptiles and then using special filming tricks to make them look big enough to (unconvincingly) pass off as "dinosaurs".

Azhdashti actually originates from one of my first subs for the Fakemon Frontier pet mod, though it didn't win, and I've been trying to pitch it or at least a variation on it since then. I hope the modifications I gave to it will be enough that this time, it'll finally get its chance to shine!

Adapted for life in Brunica's freezing tundra, this Druddigon is thought to have descended from specimens that acclimated to the Crown Tundra of Galar (its "British" heritage being a nod to the fact that IRL New Brunswick spent time as a British colony throughout the 18th century). Originally brought in to keep the Galarian settlers from freezing to death, it is still used to this day by Rangers in the colder regions of both places to help nurse rescuees who've been stranded in the snow back to health, and by Campers as a handy firestarter and a lifesaver in the face of the nastiest blizzards.

While it keeps the stocky, grody profile of its gargoyle-like Unovan counterpart, the limbs of this variant are thicker and even more muscular, while its wings are smaller to help reduce heat loss. Its normally blue skin is now charred black from the heat it emits, with glowing orange veins like volcanic cracks on the lower parts of its arms and tail as well as its neck constantly emitting heat. Its head is a brighter, more orange shade of red, with matching red-orange spikes, and the join with the body segues directly to the veins on the neck as though its superheated inner self is bursting out of an ashen shell. The two horns just behind its eyes are twice as long as on Unovan Druddigon and curve backwards to accentuate the draconic look. The very tip of its tail has an additional red-orange spike as well, shaped like a diamond or the head of a spear, merging smoothly with the last quarter or so of the tail itself which also glows red-orange and transitions to the blackened part with volcanic veins as well; the same can be said for the glowing orange hands which sport long, razor-sharp talons that glow white-hot. The plated belly is also rust-colored instead of gold, and two of the plates on the chest have fused together to form a shield of solid bone, marred only by a small horizontal crack at the very center which also burns orange. Its wings also have glowing red-orange tips transitioning to the rest with lava veins, and while they look insignificant, they actually vent heat rather than absorbing it - this Druddigon's attack animations would have jets of flame being blasted from its wings, making them look several times bigger and much more imposing.

Potential Competitive Gameplay:
Druddigon is already a dedicated physical attacker, but I decided to give it some additional help with that, with better Speed and Special Attack - namely, switching the special stats around and taking 30 points from physical defense to add to Speed. With a combination of the same mighty attack stat as regular Druddigon along with powerful moves like Flare Blitz, Outrage, and Dragon Claw, this variant is faster but more frail than its Unovan cousin, its Fire-type attacks easily scorching most Fairy-types its Dragon moves can't touch.

"Because it lives in frozen tundra, its body can heat up to keep itself from freezing. Tales tell of it rescuing people lost in the snow and keeping them warm."

Flavor:
The king of all (non-Legendary) Fire-types, Drudraigoch is almost twice as big as its pre-evo, more powerfully built, and every bit as imposing as a ruler is expected to be. It has a body shape somewhat more like Tropius than Druddigon, and though it retains Druddigon's huge arms with their spikes and huge sharp talons, they are now so heavy and packed with muscle that it has become a quadruped, the back being sloped like a Brachiosaurus. Its neck is also several times as long proportionally as Druddigon's, the red-hot glow of its head transitioning with several jagged-edged armor plates around the neck like rings, fading from orange to reddish black. The head itself is longer with a narrower snout, tipped with a hooked beak on the end but otherwise retaining the same jagged edge to the lips, while the now-ridged horns sweep upwards and back like a gazelle's horns, with three shorter horns between them; these horns fade to white-hot at the tips, giving the impression of a majestic, fiery crown. A small, forward-pointing, slightly downwards-curving nose horn also juts out from the very front of the snout, with the nostrils just behind it constantly emitting trails of smoke in a way resembling both a dragon's smoldering breath and a king's mustache, while a beard of smaller spikes like Tyrantrum adorns the bottom of the chin and lower jaw, and inside the mouth is a narrow, serpentine tongue tipped not with a fork, but with an arrowhead like the one owned by the Welsh Dragon this thing is named after. The back of the neck (which, along with the rest of the back, is held at a 45-degree angle) also sports a fiery, jagged fin that glows the same red-hot as the head itself, and complimenting this, the wings are now shaped more like Helioptile's frills, akin to the fin-like wings of medieval woodcut dragons - when attacking, the wings glow completely red-hot with flames blasting out of them, the shape resembling more conventional dragon wings, the thrust of this even allowing Drudraigoch to fly for a significant distance when it points its wings backwards, not unlike Valstrax from Monster Hunter. On the other end is a long, muscular tail, which also sports jagged armored rings like the neck, transitioning from reddish black back to orange, with the tail blade having grown into a fleur-de-lis with a curved spike on either side and a long, sword-like diamond-shaped blade at the tip, all three of which glow white-hot like the horns; the top of the tail also has several small red-orange spikes, one atop each armored ring. Lastly, the underside is still rust-red, the plating covering the underbelly and the underside of the neck, but the chest plate (now located at the base of the neck like a peytral) is now expanded to form a shape like a heraldic shield, halved by divisions both vertically and horizontally; the glowing crack in the middle is now shaped like a plus-sign or a cross, burns white-hot, and actually emits a fiery aura during Drudraigoch's attack animations.

Potential Competitive Gameplay:
Drudraigoch is a physical tank that's devastating on both ends, able to shrug off hits from equally powerful opponents and retaliate with terrible destructive force. The bulk of its stat increases has gone into its defenses and HP, allowing it to become significantly tougher than its pre-evolution, especially with Flame Body allowing it to hobble physical attackers, while still dishing out some of the most powerful STAB attacks this side of Reshiram - Sheer Force with Dragon Rush never disappoints, Flare Blitz isn't entirely out of the question with that hefty HP stat, and it even has a Dragon-type signature move, Clarent Cleave, specifically for the purpose of beating the living shit out of Fairy-types hoping to tank the rest of its Dragon attacks. Not everything is sunshine and rainbows for this roasting royal, though: its durability comes at the expense of Speed, being significantly slower than Galarian Druddigon, and it has no access to recovery, defense-boosting moves, or anything to counter Ground-types with. Toxic and Thunder Wave in particular outright terrify Drudraigoch, since while its Burn immunity allows it to no-sell the otherwise nasty Will-O-Wisp, it isn't able to get rid of incurred status effects on its own, and anything that puts it on a timer or stops it in its tracks is practically a death sentence.

"It rules over whole communities of Pokémon that come to it in search of safety. Because its inner heat thaws the ground and stirs plants from hibernation, it often hides itself away to avoid disturbing the natural order."

This sub was originally posted for the gen 8 Regional Evolutions pet mod, and is based on the Red Dragon of Wales, the name coming from a portmonteau of Druddigon and one of the alternate names for the beast, with some additional influences from the Arthurian mythos which has, as one of its most famous events, a red dragon emerging victorious over a white one being seen as an omen of the Celtic Brits' victory over the Saxons. It was originally billed as a Galarian variant despite Druddigon already being found in the Crown Tundra expansion, but I still figured it'd be the best choice for an Y Drai Goch homage, especially given its already grotesque look, which was most in line with the creepy, grody dragons common in medieval European artwork. The added Fire type is admittedly stereotypical given the whole "breathing fire" thing, but I'd justified it back then by plopping this line in the Crown Tundra where a heat-based ability would be essential, and that makes it a perfect fit for a rare find in the tundra habitat of Brunica as well. Plus we've got way too few Dragon/Fire-types anyway and if anything was going to be done with that type combo, a classic dragon would be the best if most obvious route. Being atypical is fine and all, but sticking with the classics can't hurt, can it?

A number of design elements for Drudraigoch were actually taken from the Create-A-Pokémon forum, and inspired specifically by Pipotchi's submission for CAP 27 which was also based on the Welsh Dragon and also has a chestplate with a red-hot chink in its armor; that said, I took painstaking care to make mine as different as it could be from that incredible design, and I hope Pip doesn't mind my citing of their design as inspiration. Still, credit where credit is due!

Flavor:
A massive, flightless bird Pokémon most closely related to the Farfetch'd, Ducklett, and Quaxly lines of all things, Diatreema's plump, round body is covered in mottled dark green, leafy plumage whose drooping fronds like a weeping willow fade to brown on the ends. This makes it resemble a massive bush when at rest, its folded legs hidden under it and its long neck held near the ground and curled around its body. When it has to move, however, the "bush" springs to life and rises up on immense legs more like those of Tyrantrum than any bird, entirely covered in rocky gray-brown scales like petrified tree bark over its legs and sporting three blunt, hoof-like black claws on each columnar foot. The neck resembles a tree trunk, covered in rings of gray bark that are scaled in texture like the legs, and the head is covered in the same leaf-feathers as the body, the face obscured by more drooping fronds like "emo hair" crossed with a mop head. Protruding from this vegetative mass is an enormous stony beak, dark brown in color with a whitish gray interior, that resembles both a coconut shell and a small boulder when closed, and it can use this as a fearsome weapon against anything that threatens it with slamming pecks and crushing bites - despite this savage look, however, it is an herbivore, feeding on fruits, leaves, and hard seeds, though it's nonetheless a terror to any Grass-type it can fit down its throat. Its small, stunted wings and its tail sport lighter green, leafy plumes for display, making for surprisingly delicate shows of affection for such fierce-looking birds; mated couples pair for life, and if one is lost then the other will spend the rest of its life alone.

This Pokémon also has three other aesthetic forms based on the seasons - the default one is the Summer form. The Autumn form has beautiful orange and red feathers, the Winter form has wilted brown and gray feathers, and the spring ones are a brighter, lighter shade of green with darker blue-green ends to the fronds since it's just molted its feathers and regrown them anew. The shiny sprite in all forms has dark red-brown bark on its legs, tail, and its beak is light green like a ripe coconut shell.

This design is based on the prehistoric anatid (duck) relative, Gastornis, and specifically the fact that despite being historically portrayed as a fearsome predator, it was more recently confirmed to actually be a plant-eater - it does fit this latest research, but towards plant Pokémon it acts like the old art of "Diatryma" preying on smaller animals. This is basically an avian Tropius, with added nods to how many sauropod fakemon are given a tree motif - it would've even been a sort of counterpart to the flying bananasaur, but I decided to give it a higher BST for starters since let's be real here, Tropius' gameplay is terrible.

Potential Competitive Gameplay:
A living fossil of sorts, Diatreema has the same type weaknesses and resistances as a far more ancient Pokemon, Cradily. It likewise has a similar stat setup, but differs by having more physical attacking power and HP at the cost of its defenses, though it still has decent mixed bulk that can help it deal with Electric, Water, and Normal attackers without too much issue. Its advantage over Cradily is that it's not as easy to switch into or set up on due to possessing both greater offensive power and several strong coverage attacks such as Superpower, Iron Head, Earthquake, and Brave Bird, the last of which can also be altered with a Type Balm into a utility/damage tool to chip away at opponents' defenses. That's not getting into its devastating STAB attacks like Wood Hammer and Head Smash, though if you're not fond of recoil there's also Leaf Blade and Stone Edge - Ancient Power's stat boosts are tempting, but it being a special attack means the results might not be worth it. Leaf Guard makes Diatreema a viable choice for Sun Teams which can justify Solar Blade as its Grass-type STAB, while Stamina and Harvest are both useful in their own ways for defensive purposes with the former allowing it to better trade hits with bulky physical attackers and the latter giving it more healing and buff options with various Berries. Like Cradily, though, it is as slow as it is enormous, and its vulnerability to common attacking types like Fighting and Ice often necessitate allies that can clear away such threats to give it a better chance of bringing its hardest-hitting moves into play.

"The leafy feathers growing from its immense body allow it to camouflage itself from danger. Fossils of its ancestors are thought to have inspired local legends of giants that shook the ground as they walked."

: Due to it's clumsy nature, it's constantly rebuilding itself. Due to this, they know most caves in Brunica by heart. This Pokemon is often used by many Rangers, Backpackers, and Hikers due to their excellent navigation ability in caves.
Effect: Hits all adjacent Pokemon. After usage, sets Trick Room.
Distribution: Trippletop requires a Psychic Balm and knowing a damaging Psychic-type move to use Mystic Burst.
If this Pokemon flinches, Stealth Rocks are set on the opposing Pokemon's side of the field.

Second sub review:
Dreamlings; Larouse and Furbistation; Medister and Anticoty; Ancone, Snifir, and Patripine; Sowlixi, Gartifoli, and Violagarie
Triple Threat?: Well, it's a gimmick... and in my honest opinion, not a very good one. Elimination also doesn't sound like it'll be worth a moveslot.
Louses: Endangered is a very...pitiful ability. You need all your teammates gone to achieve a figment of Kingambit's Supreme Overlord, and its type and stats certainly don't help its case. Nice to see Hopo Berry being back, even if its effect is something that will make it never see use. Endless Infestation is meh.
Medicine: An interesting concept, but the execution could be better. The effects of Nurse sound like a headache for the coding team.
Acorns & Pines: Ambush prowess seems...overly complicated to code. Pine Lens is a fun gimmicky item. Pine Barrage at max potential is a 150BP move that can bypass Protect. Do I need to explain further why the move is vetoed?
Sqamhalia, Azhdashti; Brunican Druddigon, Drudraigoch; Diatreema
Torch Tail is alright, Clarent Cleave might need to be reworked to something like Thousand Arrows to be functional. Drudraigoch is shaping up to appear like a threat in Trick Room.
Terror Bird: Honestly, I would not be surprised if this eventually gets reworked as a regional Tropius evo.
Loupgarou feels a bit underwhelming in terms of lore, I'll admit. Competitively speaking, it's alright, but nothing special.
Trippletop
Unsteady Body's trigger is situational, so it's fine. It's a Trick Room user whose set up of Trick Room via Balm move is...well, complicated, since Trick Rooms end when used consecutively, but it's an interesting idea.

Effect: (Schooling clone) The Pokémon enters the field in its Swarm form when above 25% max. HP, reverts to its base form at the end of the turn when below 25% max. HP.
Permanent (Yes or No): Yes
Ignorable (Yes or No): No
Distribution: Exclusive to Moskitoski
Justification: I think it fits with the flavor and its another take on an idea that didn't have much success, so why not try again with another typing? I don't think it risks to be a threat since it's weak to SR and has in general more weaknesses than Wishiwashi.

Name: Sleep Drain
Power: 75
Type:
Dark.png

Category:
Special.png

Base Power: 75
Accuracy: 100%
Power Points: 8
Effect: User recovers HP equal to 50% of damage inflicted, 75% if the target is Sleeping.
Priority: 0
Flags: Heal
Distribution: Can be distributed to other Ghost, Dark and Bug types that lean moves that can put the target to Sleep, but also bat Pokemon, so:
:noibat: :noivern: :zubat: :golbat: :crobat: :gastly: :haunter: :gengar: :duskull: :dusclops: :dusknoir: :darkrai: :venomoth: :frosmoth: etc.
Justification: Can be interesting combining Giga Drain with a status-based bonus, and it's a more viable Dream Eater.

Name: Venom Drain
Type:
Poison.png

Effect: User recovers 50% of damage inflicted.
Priority: 0
Distribution: exclusive
Justification: the niche of Moskitoski is draining HPs from the opponent to stay in its Swarming form, so I thought it needed a Balm move to reflect that.
Movesets:
Moskitoski @ Poison Balm/Choice Scarf
Ability: Buzzing
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Bug Buzz
- Sleep Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- U-turn

EDIT: added some sketches, movesets and changed some things around (moves secondary effect and Moskitoski's Atk and Spe).

Final sub review for the slate, you have 36 hours starting from this post to add | complete | modify any submissions.
Menteseng, Geneseng; Brrrmanook; Klawyx
...Herbal Medicine!
Tabbit, Harcana
Another bunny. May the Wheel of Fortune spin in your favour.[
Frostabone; Moskitoski
Mammut: Dead Mamoswine, but not competitively.
Mosquito: As someone who has been trying to deal with the seasonal infestation, I too have a grudge against it. As long as it doesn't get boosting moves, it should remain fine. Now where's my swatter?
That being said, both of Sharpen's subs have fallen foul of the rule that, by giving yourself a Balm move, you cannot also give your sub another exclusive move. Remove either the Balm Move or the non-balm move to remain.

wait, Sleep Drain isn't an exclusive move, I gave it also to other Pokémon. We haven't made many new Dark-type moves, in all 4 chapters.
Guess I'll remove Shadow Tusk from Frostabone, it isn't really needed and I could give it Shadow Bone instead since it would fit.

EDIT: removed Shadow Tusk, let me know about Sleep Drain.

Before we begin the voting stage for this Forestry & Tundra slate, let the record show the initial returning mons who will join the Brunican Dex:
  • The Pichat line (Full movepool will be established*, and all members get an exclusive Balm move)
  • Bouffalant (Gets a +10 buff to its Def & Speed, its HA Soundproof swapped to Rock Head, and can now learn Trailblaze, Head Smash, Supercell Slam and an exclusive Balm move)
  • The Vullaby line
  • The Snover line
  • Thermonewt (Can now learn Chilling Water and Frost Feint)
  • The Teddiursa line {NOTE: Ursaluna-Bloodmoon is NOT going to be part of the initial dex, because 1. it'll be gone to Ubers instantly, 2. As of writing, there is no way to obtain that form aside from a scripted event, and since its own lore ties it directly with Kitakami, the only logical choice is to lock it behind transfer.}
  • The Pineco line
  • The Doduo line (Dodrio swaps its Normal type for Fighting, its Ability Run Away swapped for Reckless, and can now learn Axe Kick, Air Dive, Triple Kick, High Jump Kick and it gets a very unique balm move...
  • The Budew line (All members can now learn Mud-Slap, Roseila & Roserade can additionally learn Poison Terrain and Play Rough, Roserade will further learn Earth Power, Toxic Shock, Triple Axel and a new balm move)

This is an unranked voting poll. The order of your preferences does not matter. You may vote for up to five submissions, with counterparts considered as one vote together which is not applicable in this particular scenario. Each vote is worth one point; self-votes are worth two points, limited to one per user, must be accompanied with (SV) and permitted only if you have voted for at least two submissions belonging to others. Failure to properly mark your self-vote will result in said vote being disqualified, and only the first five votes will be counted if you vote for more than five. The submissions with the top three amount of votes will become part of the dex.

Towns and mountains may have eluded them....But at last, Sowlixi, Gartifoli, and Violagarie have won a slate! As their reward, their full movepools will now be shown so that they can join Ferrustle, Amotilus, and the others in Brunica...so move aside, Roserade and Tsareena, we have a new plant woman in the house!
Oh, but before we begin...it is quite clear that this line is female only!

Grassy Terrain Smasher (Violagarie) @ Grassy Seed
Ability: Seed Sower
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Grassy Glide
- Earthquake
- Triple Axel
- Triple Kick
Next, here are the Pokédex entries for all three:
Sowlixi, the Seed Pokémon: Height: 0.2m Weight: 6.6kg
This very shy Pokémon flees if provoked, leaving behind flower seeds as it goes. Thus, people often chased them across wastelands to turn them into flower fields.
Gartifoli, the Gardener Pokémon: Height: 1.0m Weight: 9.2kg
By detaching it's own hair, this Pokémon can spread fields of dirt with a single swipe. Plants grown from these fields will always prosper.
Violagarie, the Dryad Pokémon: Height: 1.6m Weight: 49.8kg
Using it's connection with nature, it always makes sure that the area around it is as lively as possible. Those that provoke it will be turned into mere topiaries by the seeds that are fired out of it's flower arms.
And finally, sprites for all three Pokémon, taken directly from their submissions: From left to right: Sowlixi, Gartefoli, and Violagarie.

JHCjIoM.png
J8oOx3d.png

Oh, and one more thing...Looking back at Violagarie's movepool, I think it's better off as a Special Attacker...So I would like it's stats to be 75 / 85 / 75 / 105 / 80 / 100. (Basically the same, except Attack and Special Attack are swapped)

I've executing a personal change to change the Mentesung line's name into something a bit more Chinese: Mentesung's name is changed to Xuehseng, instead incorporating the Chinese word 學生 | Xuéshēng meaning student, and Geneseng's name is changed to Yiseng, instead incorporating 醫生 | Yīshēng, the Chinese word for Doctor. {Yes, there's a Asian Doctor joke somewhere}

Xuehseng, the Herbal Pokémon.
- These Pokemon were imported from the East a long time ago. Their numbers dwindled following a cataclysmic ecological disaster, and they are now a rare sight in the wild.

Yiseng, the Longevity Pokémon
- Many people believe that ingesting a Yiseng's roots will result in vast improvement in one's mental capability and fertility. These beliefs are greatly exaggerated and dangerous, to both people and Yiseng.

Since everything is in place for the Bri'ish Drudds already, I've decided on making a single change: Trailblaze is no longer one of this line's TMs. As flavor-appropriate as it is for a sort of pioneer in a hostile environment, this line was never meant to get anything at all to harm Ground-types with since those were always intended as a reliable counter to them. I'm also considering restoring Drudraigoch's original stat spread of 107 HP / 125 Atk / 90 Def / 90 SpA / 90 SpD / 58 Spe = 560 BST as I proposed in the original pet mod to compensate, which would make it, and I quote, "tied with Mega Camerupt for having the second-highest BST of any non-Legendary Fire-type, with only the Mega Charizards and Mega Blaziken having higher BSTs." If this is too disruptive in terms of balance, though, I'm open to any suggestions for modifying the above spread, up to and including keeping the one from my original post of it for this mod.

8/6 Addendum: Bush Claws and Surf have also been removed from this line's TMs. Same deal as Trailblaze - I always wanted Ground-types to be a reliable counter. Ayecrusher King has also rejected the stat change I proposed on this post by way of a Discord chat reply, so the stat spread I listed the first time is here to stay I guess (especially since it's about at the very upper limit for BSTs normally).

And here are some potential movesets, amenable to revisions as per pending feedback:

"Come and see the violence inherent in the system! HELP! HELP! I'm being repressed!"
(A.K.A. Specially Defensive Clarent Cleave)
Drudraigoch @ Leftovers or Choice Band
Ability: Sheer Force
Nature: Careful (+SpD, -SpA)
129 HP/252 Atk/129 SpD
- Clarent Cleave
- Flare Blitz/Flame Charge
- Earthquake/Iron Head
- Stealth Rock/Dragon Tail/Hone Claws

"O Lord, bless this thy hand grenade, that with it thou mayst blow thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy."
(A.K.A. Mixed Offensive Life Orb)
Drudraigoch @ Life Orb
Ability: Mold Breaker or Sheer Force
Nature: Rash (+SpA, -SpD)
49 Atk/252 SpA/209 Spe
- Outrage/Draco Meteor/Dragon Breath/Dragon Rush/Clarent Cleave
- Flare Blitz/Fire Blast/Flamethrower
- Iron Head/Superpower/Gunk Shot
- Hone Claws/Protect
