Welcome to the eighth edition of the World Cup of 1v1. This year, ten teams are battling it out to see who can claim to be the 1v1 World Champions.

Rules
General Rules:
- General tournament rules and regulations can be found here.
- If metagame changes occur during the middle of a round, they will take effect in the subsequent round.
- Battles must take place on either Smogtours or Pokemon Showdown!
- Replays are required. Any win post without replays will not be counted

Substitutions:
- If you are unable to schedule with your opponent, please let your managers know ASAP so they can communicate that to us or the other team's managers for a potential substitute.
- When making a substitution, please the host team, the managers of the opposing team, and all of the players affected by the substitute to ensure that everyone is made aware.
- Keep in mind once a player is subbed out, they cannot be subbed back into the same round, but can be put back onto the roster for next round.
- Substitutions will not be allowed in tiebreak series unless both teams agree (or TDs enforce double sub). We will be reluctant to give activity wins to those who are clearly fishing for them.

Sportsmanship:
- Note the sportsmanship infraction may be used liberally this 1v1 WC, and any unsportsmanlike conduct on the forums, in the tours games, or 1v1 discord will be grounds for an infraction.

Kala chasmah (2-2), delemon (4-0), Palestine (1-3), Robert (0-4), RADU (3-1)

Kala is fairly solid, presuming that hes gonna try hard i think its entirely possible he goes 3-1 aswell and Pale gets sweptbut then again the odds of Pale getting outclicked 4 times in a row are like very tiny, he hasnt been as convincing as he does in BW seen by UMPL showing but still knows how to play mons. Radu has been balling in UMPL without trying at all since w3 so not much reason to assume its gonna stop.
I'd be fairly surprised if delemon drops a series here, and I'd also be surprised if Robert is able to get a win in this pool full of MAINERS.

I dont have much to say about this Pool i cant really gauge the skilllevel of anyone here except lolebruh whos good af if he gets something usable to load. Realiti is the only other name i recognize so 3-1

Marshme1to (2-2), lemonstre1 (2-2), happysh (4-0), fake tom numbers (2-2), Seraphz (0-4)

These predicts look hot-takey to my eye so let me explain: Marsh is the best player in the pool, but the W/L since PL aswell as the time constraints i have seen all play a part in the 2-2 prediction. Happysh is the best combo of player and builder here, since Im seeing mostly real teams im pretty convinced and i think 4-0 is achievable but 3-1 would also be a great success. Tom and Lemonstre I dont really know much about but I have heard both names and know the managers and must assume that there is good reason to field them. Seraphz is a name i keep in Teamtour lineups and its entirely possible they take a game here.

Pool 5
ZackPalace (2-2), Elian (0-4), Nuxl (4-0), gorilaa (2-2), Miyoko (2-2)

The battle for second best in this pool should be fairly close. Miyoko is coming off of bad UMPL and 1v1PL form and I haven't seen gorilaa play mons in a year so those two are definetly the ones that I can see going differently. They have both got people backing them that have a good grasp of the meta though so its not looking dire.
Zack with some asia coaching should work decently well, I think 2-2 would be a great success for that slot. 2-2 here mostly cause i dont see anyone winning 3 in this pool.
Nuxl is far and away the most convincing one in this pool, whereas i have no intel on Elian.

I think nunbetter is the best player in the pool and after that I have no Intel/expectancy for the record of the others. nunbetter might get hit with the rust though so i can see him dropping a game or two.

I didnt have this pool on my radar for one of the more competitive ones but between every single player in this pool presumably being rusty i think this is gonna be fairly evenly matched (i have no idea about SM and i just know frosty is the goat)
Not every pool needs a clear cut favorite and i frankly think this one doesnt have one so they are all getting the 2-2 treatment

I have no hot takes here. 2 top oras players and then 2 unfamiliar faces to me + someone in a completely different meta than to what they are used to. I trust AHD playing wise but the Dropoff level wise after mubs is quite steep and i expect them to all perform about equally. Im also excited to see if people actually bother to think about the meta now or if we're gonna keep loading zardless old oras teams LOL

BW 1v1 Bo5

Kaif got the exact opposite type of BW pool that i had the pleasure of facing last year, while LpZ is obviously a respectable player and we have seen all players here play 1v1 tours before i think dropping a series here would be underachieving for one of the best BW players on site.
LpZ has good odds to be second best in this pool between recycling usable stuff from pl and wesley conjouring up something for him while i expect everyone else to split games between them with middle of the pack teams and clicking expected
