Pet Mod GlaceMons - Playtesting; OU is done! | Please read Post #540!

Way more to come later.

Name: Sonic Boom
Power: 40
Accuracy
: 100
PP
: 30
Category
: Special
Type: Normal
Effect: Usually goes first.
Priority
: 1
Flags
(ex: Contact, Sound): Sound
Potential Pokémon With This Move: Same as normal : :primarina: :toxtricity: :exploud: :altaria: :sylveon:
Justification: I wanna make a move that sucks suck less. Special prio are really, really rare, and it's a cool buff for some mons (and another option for Altaria, ready for Pixilate CM sets?)

Name: Payback | Avalanche
Power: 70
Accuracy: 100%
PP: 10
Category: Physical
Type: Dark | Ice
Effect: Power doubles if the user moves after the target.
Priority: -1
Flags
(ex: Contact, Sound):
Potential Pokémon With This Move: Same as before
Justification: Same as before, making moves that suck suck less. They are now basically Focus Punch but weaker but it still deals damage if you hit them. It's a cool buff for slow, bulky mons, like Ting-Lu, Tyranitar-Mega, Wo-Chien, Avalugg, Avalugg-Hisui, Dondozo, MAYBE Kyurem-Black...

Name: Swarming
Power: 110
Accuracy: 100
PP: 10
Category: Special
Type: Bug
Effect: Lowers both the user's and the target's SpD by 1.
Priority: 0
Flags (ex: Contact, Sound):
Potential Pokémon With This Move: :genesect: :silvally: :lokix: :yanmega: :deoxys:
Justification: Wallbreaking tool, that puts yourself at risk with the -1 SpD. Let's be honest, your options for a special Bug STAB are Bug Buzz and Signal Beam, and both suck.
Name: Frozen Orb
Effect: At the end of every turn, this item attempts to freeze the holder. (Freeze as in Frostbite)
Can Be Knocked Off (Yes or No): Yes
Ignored by Klutz (Yes or No): No
Fling Power & Effect: idk, same as Flame Orb but Frostbite
Justification: I said I... wouldn't sub anymore items? I lied bitch.
Name: Keep Cool
Effect: If this Pokemon is statused, its Sp.Attack is 1.5x; ignores freeze halving special damage.
Permanent (Yes or No): No
Mold Breaker (Yes or No): No
Potential Pokémon With This Ability: No idea bro
Justification: Special Guts. Insane.
:sv/banette: :sv/banette-mega:
Name: Banette | Banette-Mega (resub)
Type: Ghost/Normal | Ghost/Fighting
Abilities
: Insomnia/Frisk/Run It Back | Prankster
New Moves: Close Combat, Focus Punch, Drain Punch, Parting Shot, Strength Sap, Encore, Copycat, Taunt, Flex Off, Mach Punch (already has Frostnip)
Removed Moves: None
Justification: I love Banette-Mega concept wise, but it sucks really, really badly. I like the Prankster niche, and I know every mod that buffed it tried to get away from Prankster Banette-Mega (from the top of my mind, mostly Megas Revisited and Joltemons), but I want it to be able to run that just fine. Prankster Destiny Bond is ass on a mega, but now it has a lot of cool tools, like Flex Off (from a 165 Atk mon, which is huge), Taunt, Encore, Copycat if you're stupid and want to run Phantom Force Copycat, Parting Shot for the prio pivot, or Strength Sap as a cool healing option with debuff. It already has a lot of cool moves like Swords Dance (if you're scared of losing the Flex Off, or you want to run some bulk with Sap and/or WoW or Frostnip), Poltergeist, Shadow Sneak, and Destiny Bond if you REALLY want that option.

:sv/absol: :sv/absol-mega:
Name: Absol | Absol-Mega
Type: Dark/Fairy | Dark/Fairy
Abilities
: Anticipation/Forewarn/Super Luck | Magic Bounce
New Moves: Spirit Break, Moonblast, Moonlight
Removed Moves: None
Justification: Another mega is my target I guess. Absol-Mega has nice stats, a great Atk stat and a good movepool as well as a good ability. Where does it fail then? Really weak bulk, few occasions to actually setup due to that, etc. So yup, Dark/Fairy typing is a typing seen only on Grimmsnarl, and this is why I buff Absol to have this typing, so this way, it can actually get more occasions to setup. Also, it has 3 great abilities pre-mega, so that's another cool mega for Parallel Mega Orb.

:sv/dragapult:
Name: Dragapult
Type: Dragon/Ghost
Abilities: Clear Body, Infiltrator, Trace
New Moves
: Ice Beam, Recover, Frostnip, Breeze Shock, Breeze Burn
Removed Moves: Phantom Force, Spectral Thief
Justification: Look, I know we unbanned a lot of Ubers already, but I'm a Dragapult lover OK. And well, we didn't unban it while NatDex did, so uh, I removed the only reason it could be still Uber, while adding a lot of tools taking inspiration from M4A's Dragapult-Mega, a really nice mon I like a lot. Fast Trace is an archetype I like a lot, and Dragapult is perfect for that. Otherwise well, it does Dragapult stuff, not like I need to explain how Dragapult works, just that it has more tools for Specs and WoW + Hex sets while not having the option to run DD + Z-Phantom Force.

Justification: The idea behind this move is good, but it's limited to Falinks. Let's fix that.

Name: Vigor Charm
Effect: When held by Slaking; on turns when it would normally be unable to move due to Truant, it can move, but its attacks are at half power that turn.
Can Be Knock Off (Yes or No): Yes
Ignored by Klutz (Yes or No): Yes
Fling Power & Effect: 10
Justification: Enables Slaking to not be total weight on its Truant turns, as it can use those turns to heal, boost, or attack at half power.

Name: Sea Quill
Effect: When held by Qwilfish (both forms) or Overqwil: Power of Poison-type moves is increased by 1.3×. Spikes or Toxic Spikes set an additional layer. Max layers still apply. (Spikes will set two layers in one turn, Toxic Spikes both layers in one turn)
Can Be Knock Off (Yes or No): Yes
Ignored by Klutz (Yes or No): Yes
Fling Power & Effect: 10
Justification: Gives the Qwilfish family a niche as Spikes setters that can get their hazards up faster than others.

Name: Circuit Booster
Effect: When held by Vikavolt: Vikavolt's first Electric-type move after switching in has +1 priority. Vikavolt's special attacks deal 20% more damage, but its Speed is lowered by 10%.
Can Be Knock Off (Yes or No): Yes
Ignored by Klutz (Yes or No): Yes
Fling Power & Effect: 10
Justification: Vikavolt plays budget Raging Bolt. But the added firepower comes at the cost of Vikavolt being even slower. The idea here is to break and pivot with Vikavolt.

Name: Water Veil
Effect: Current effect + activates Aqua Ring on entry.
Permanent (Yes or No): No
Mold Breaker (Yes or No): Yes
Potential Pokémon With This Ability: Current distribution
Justification: Completely outclassed by Water Bubble.

Justification: Rage, but as an ability

Name: Raw Wood

:SV/zamazenta:
Name: Zamazenta
Type: Fighting
Abilities: Dauntless Shield / Steely Spirit
New Moves
: Psyshield Bash
Removed Moves: N/A
Justification: Zama gains a pseudo-STAB on Steel-type moves. Psyshield Bash because it fits, this thing already gets Psychic Fangs and similar moves.

:SV/latios: :SV/Latias:
Name: Latios | Latias
Type: Dragon/Psychic
Abilities: Levitate / Neuroforce | Levitate / Filter
New Moves
: N/A
Removed Moves: N/A
Justification: Latios deals more damage with super-effective attacks, while Latias takes less damage from them.

:SV/exeggutor: :SV/exeggutor-alola:
Name: Exeggutor | Exeggutor-Alola
Type: Grass/Psychic | Grass/Dragon
Abilities: Thick Fat / Solar Power / Harvest | Unconcerned / Solar Power / Long Reach
New Moves
: Earth Power | Dragon Dance
Removed Moves: N/A
Justification: Exeggutor is completely outclassed as a Chlophophlly sweeper, but with Thick Fat, it can function as a budget Mega Venusaur. Exeggutor-Alola gets Long Reach for contactless, boosted Dragon Hammers and Wood Hammers.

EDIT: Stamina was a mistake, I meant Dauntless Shield to begin with

Name: Quick Claw
Effect: The user automatically wins speed ties against any Pokemon not holding this item.
Can Be Knocked Off: Yes
Ignored by Klutz: Yes
Fling Power & Effect: Unchanged
Justification: Just a simple niche item that can be run to come out on top in dittos or flooded speed tiers. Also very relevant on actual Ditto for all two stall players in Pet Mods.

Glad to see Frostbite formally replace Freeze since there's still way too many statuses that outright prevent actions even with that changed. I'm guessing this means all Ice mons are now immune to Frostbite and that Frostbite--and thus Frostnip--auto-fails in Sun even if Sun doesn't outright cure having it, correct?

Regardless, rest in power for real this time, :shedinja: Shedinja. I'll put more here before the veto phase on Thursday:

:houndstone::annihilape::sneasler:
Name(s): Last Respects / Rage Fist / Dire Claw (adjustments)
Power: 75 (up to 150) (all)
Accuracy:
100% (all)
PP: 5 (max. 8) (all)
Category:
Physical (all)
Type: Ghost / Fighting / Poison
Effect: Gains 25 power for each directly damaging move the user is hit with from another mon, capping at 150 power. Power gained does not reset upon switching out or fainting. (all) 20% chance to Frostbite / badly Poison target. (Last Respects / Dire Claw)
Priority:
0 (all)
Flags (ex: Contact, Sound): Mirror, Protect (all); Contact (Rage Fist & Dire Claw); Punch (Rage Fist)
Potential Pokémon With This Move: (Last Respects) Current would-be users (:houndstone:, :basculegion:, & :basculegion-f:) + :bramblin:, :cubone:, :dhelmise:, :duskull:, :greavard:, maybe :kangaskhan:, :phantump:, :sandygast:, :spiritomb:, :yamask:
(Rage Fist) Current would-be users (:primeape: & :annihilape:) + :crabrawler:, :hitmonchan:, maybe :infernape:, :jigglypuff:, :kangaskhan:, :pancham:, :pheromosa:, :sandile:, :scraggy:
(Dire Claw) Current would-be users (:sneasel-hisui: & :sneasler:) + :croagunk:, :fezandipiti:, :nidoran-f: & :nidoran-m:, :umbreon:, maybe :sneasel: & :weavile:
Justification: Continuing my Gen 8 & Gen 9 signature move tour, I come from the exact opposite side this time to tackle some of the most broken ones even though Sneasler didn't win since I did say I would do Dire Claw next slate. So here's my attempted solution to make that balanced--even if Sneasler is still busted as long as it has Unburden too--as well as not redundant to or obviating of Barb Barrage (or Gunk Shot) in addition to bringing Last Respects and Rage Fist with it, though I imagine that even in these "balanced" forms they still shouldn't be given out to too much if it can avoided even with their PP being halved and damaging aspects a fraction of their former selves. Even so, this would at least give Houndstone and a couple of other lower-end mons some teeth to boost Sand with even if I could see Basculegion maybe needing to lose it (again) ultimately. Shrug. (This also made me realize the weirdly small amount of Poison mons that have actual claws.)

:meowth::meowth-alola::meowth-galar:
Name: Rocket Meowth-nip (new) :destiny-knot:
Effect: "If the user is a Meowth or Persian, its Atk & SpA are doubled, receives half damage from Electric attacks, and its Normal attacks hit Electric-types super-effectively.
If the user is a Meowth-Alola or Persian-Alola, its SpA and SpA are doubled, receives half damage from Electric attacks, and its Dark attacks hit Electric-types super-effectively.
If the user is a Meowth-Galar or Perrserker, its Atk & Def are doubled, receives half damage from Electric attacks, and its Steel attacks hit Electric-types super-effectively."
Can Be Knock Off (Yes or No): No (only if a member of the Meowth family)
Ignored by Klutz (Yes or No): Yes
Fling Power & Effect: 10, paralyzes enemy and then forces them out (Can't be Flung by any Meowth family member)
Justification: If that rat Pikachu can get massive buffs from items, then Meowth and its kin can also get modest ones. At this point, mon-exclusive items might be the only interesting left of the ones not disqualified by the resub limit anyway. I think is a reasonable suggestion for what it is aside from maybe the nerfed Fighting Memory aspect the now extreme Electric hate tagged onto it as well as Persian-Alola maybe being a bit too tanky with boosted SpD even with its low HP given Fur Coat, which is why I couldn't touch its Def like how I couldn't touch regular Persian's Spe due to it getting Velocity all the way back in Slate 01.

:avalugg::sandslash-alola:
Name: Snow Flurry Ice Body / Slush Rush ("new" | adjustment)
Effect: (Snow Flurry) "This Pokemon's Ice, Ghost, and Fairy attacks have 1.2x power. If Hail Snow is active, this Pokemon's Ice, Ghost, and Fairy attacks instead have 1.3x power and ignore user's Burn. Hail Frostbite immunity."
(Slush Rush) "This Pokemon cannot be burned and frostbitten. If Hail Snow is active, this Pokemon's speed is doubled. Hail immunity"
(Gaining either ability cures Frostbite. Gaining Slush Rush also cures Burn.)
Permanent (Yes or No):
No (both)
Mold Breaker (Yes or No): No (both; technically yes with Slush Rush and status, but said status would just get auto-healed, so....)
Potential Pokémon With This Ability: (Snow Flurry) Potentially all current Ice Body "users" if HydreigonTheChild's Ice Body change doesn't win (:seel: & :dewgong:, :mr-mime-galar: & :mr. rime:, :snorunt: & :glalie:, :spheal:'s line, :regice:, :glaceon:, :vanillite:'s line, :bergmite:'s line(s), :arctovish:, :arctibax:'s line) + :snover: & :abomasnow:, :alcremie:, :articuno:(maybe over Snow Cloak for sake of parity), :aurorus:, :arctozolt: (over Static), :cubchoo: and :beartic: (over Snow Cloak), :corsola-galar: & :cursola:, :cryogonal:, :dhelmise:, :duskull:'s line, :froslass:, :glastrier: & :spectrier:, :hatterene: (over Healer), maybe :kyurem:, :vulpix-alola: & :ninetales-alola:, :polteageist:, :sandshrew-alola: & :sandslash-alola:
(Slush Rush) Current users (:arctovish:, :arctozolt:, :cubchoo: & :beartic:, :cetitan:, and :sandshrew-alola: & :sandslash-alola:) + :snover: & :abomasnow: (over Soundproof), :electivire:, :floette:'s line, maybe :gastly:'s line, :greavard: & :houndstone:, :ponyta-galar: & :rapidash-galar: (over Run Away), :zoroark: & :zoroark-hisui:
Justification: Snow should also be thrown a bone, but Voden's buffs were vetoed last Slate, so this is approaching two of those abilities from a different direction (since I already subbed a Snow Cloak change that I may resub later). With Snow it makes sense to lean towards being both aggressive and diverse since Ice-typing has no real defensive benefits (especially with Caltrops now around too). So I'm lumping in Ghost as always while lumping Fairy mostly because as privileged as Fairy it is, thankfully isn't already buffed by anything unlike other Terrain-having types (and since Dark really doesn't need the buff on top of overlapping with Ghost anyway). If I was still doing Sand, then Snow Flurry (which would have been an Ice Body change until I saw HydreigonTheChild's) is how I would largely boost Sand Force for the record since it's not like Sand Force has ever been good, much like how Ice Body hasn't been good since like Gen 4 Stallrein. (Slush Rush was already mostly fine, just on largely underwhelming users, but it could still use a bit of a boost given being Ice type is suffering.)
:kangaskhan:
:sv/kangaskhan::sv/kangaskhan-mega:
Name: Kangaskhan(-Mega)
Type: Normal/Ground (both)
Abilities:
Early Bird / Sap Sipper / Thick Fat (hidden ability) (-Mega Ability: Parental Bond)
New Moves: Bulk Up, Flex Off, Headlong Rush, Healing Wish, High Horsepower, Land's Wrath, Mirror Coat, Parting Shot, Quick Attack, Salve Strike, Smack Down, Stealth Rock (12)
Removed Moves: Power-Up Punch, Seismic Toss (02)
Justification: I still haven't been able to play again of late mostly due to busyness with other things, but I imagine that Kangaskhan(-Mega) isn't getting used that much despite being legal now, likely because I imagine Lopunny-Mega makes it pretty redundant without access to Parental Bond. Its other non-Scrappy abilities that it can use with Parallel Mega Orb are also underwhelming, especially with it having otherwise gotten literally nothing throughout the mod so far, even though I wanted to try to keep at least one of them. So this attempts to fix all that, changing its typing and making it a more defensive & supportive but not toothless alternative to Lopunny-Mega that can choose either to cover one of its new weaknesses, to go for more damage, or go for instant recovery with little drawback. (Mirror Coat was added because it and Counter activate twice with Parental Bond.)

2025/01/16 EDIT: Thanks for the confirmation, Lysion. Independent of that, I have finally added a Kangaskhan buff, a couple of Snow abilities, and a Meowth-family item.

2025/01/17 EDIT: Despite trying to wait for the veto phase to see if either version of Ice Body was even going to accepted, I've decided to just change the name of my would-be Ice Body change to "Snow Flurry" so that it doesn't interfere with HydreigonTheChild's version, which I like. (And then later changed Dire Claw and co.'s floor from 50 BP to 75 BP while doubling its proc rate to 20% from 10% at the cost of halving its incremental growth from 50 BP to 25 BP.)

2025/01/18 EDIT: It's Pikachu hate all the way down for Rocket Meowth-nip apparently.

Justification: Misty Explosion is cool, but its damn weak. I think Self-KO moves need more love, but 250 BP might be a bit much when they aren't Normal type. 160 BP is flexible, but I really like the idea of sacrificing yourself and setting either hazards or a field condition for your teammate.

Justification: Strength Sap is a cool move, what if there was a Psychic type version? This would be a welcome addition to several mons, like Bronzong, Celebi, Tentacruel, and Reuniclus, helping them be less passive
:sv/suicune:

Effect

Potential Pokémon With This Ability: :raikou::entei::suicune: (Replacing Inner Focus on each of them)
Justification: I think the Dawgs need a good signature ability. This makes Raikou a pretty cool pivot, helps Suicune with its initial bulk, and I guess is just all around nice for Entei.

:sv/whimsicott:
Name: Cotton Down (RESUB)

Justification: Yes, I'm reaching for flavor here, but G-Luke has a point about good abilities on shitmons, and my own Quick Draw submission was an example of that phenomenon. Anyways, lowering Speed on entry is pretty good, essentially giving all these mons a 1.5x speed boost on entry. More importantly, I believe, is the potential this ability offers your team. You can switch or pivot with a Cotton Down wielder into other teammates on a boosting threat that you need to slow down with, or temporarily give your slower switch-ins a chance to beat a faster threat.

Justification: I like Chandelure, I don't care that Blacephalon is better. Merciless + Infernal Parade is an obvious synergy here; I also gave some better coverage moves, priority, better set up, and 2 forms of recovery. • 3 amazing abilities to choose from - Sap Sipper is purely selfish, turning a weakness into an immunity; Misty Surge and Hospitality are both team players, providing status immunity or healing to Florges and its teammates
  • Ground / Fairy is an amazing defensive and offensive typing
  • Quicksand Drain provides a more useful effect than Earth Power at the cost of power
  • While Calm Mind sets will likely be the go to, Leech Seed, Heart Swap, and Sleep Powder let Florges fill a supporting roll to its team if you don't want to set up with it
  • I don't think this is overpowered, primarily because Florges still has bad physical bulk; its new typing saddles it with Water and Ice weaknesses, and it still struggles to a degree with reliable recovery - Moonlight just ain't so hot
  • I'm editing this in over Jirachi at the eleventh hour after vetoes, so council, if you think this is too strong or something, please just remove any moves you find problematic. If the typing/abilities are what breaks it; fine just veto the whole thing

Abilities: Thick Fat / Serene Grace / Super Luck
New Moves: Alluring Voice, Calm Mind, Heart Swap, Hurricane, Moonblast, Mystical Fire, Squall
Removed Moves: None
Justification:
  • Thick Fat gives Togekiss a nice Ice neutrality and Fire resistance
  • Moonblast and Hurricane are stronger STAB options
  • Serene Grace Air Slash and Hurricane are kinda wacky but damn, a 60% drop chance from Moonblast is nice
  • Mystical Fire is a better option into Gholdengo than Flamethrower
  • Heart Swap because again, it's a pretty cool defensive option

Name: Frost Orb
Effect: At the end of the turn, user is frostbitten.
Can Be Knocked Off (Yes or No): Yes
Ignored by Klutz (Yes or No): Yes
Fling Power & Effect: 30, Frostbites the target
Justification: With Frostbite replacing Freeze, we'll need this. Item of choice for Quick Feet users.
Bro you can also not sub a Frost Orb right after I do

Glad to see Frostbite formally replace Freeze since there's still way too many statuses that outright prevent actions even with that changed. I'm guessing this means all Ice mons are now immune to Frostbite and that Frostbite--and thus Frostnip--auto-fails in Sun even if Sun doesn't outright cure having it, correct?
And on that, yes, it means exactly that!

Justification: Gives steel a strong special option, having flash cannon as a stab kinda sucks, this gives them a high reward option at some . Doubling the damage the pokemon trades their defense for more offense

Name: Octazooka

Name: Fire Spin / Thunder Cage / Whirlpool / Sand Tomb / Wrap / Icy Wind
Power: 60
Accuracy: 100
PP: 10
Category: Special
Type: Fire / Electric / Water / Ground / Normal / Ice
Effect: Causes damage to the target equal to 1/8 of its maximum HP (1/6 if the user is holding Binding Band), rounded down for 5 turns, at the end of each turn during effect. The effect ends if the target leaves the field, or if the target uses Mortal Spin, Land's Wrath, or Rapid Spin successfully.

Icy Wind:
Justification: This gives a way to screw off defensive pokemon especially setup sweepers who may be trying to stay in for to long via "crit me not" strategies. This forces them out and gives a consistent option for these pokemon to threaten.
Name: Fossilized Drake / Dino
Effect: When held by Arctozolt or Arctovish / Dracozolt or Dracovish then increases its speed by 1.5x. If the user moves first then its moves do 1.2x damage
Can Be Knocked Off (Yes or No): No
Ignored by Klutz (Yes or No): Yes
Fling Power & Effect: 10
Justification: This gives the dino's something to work with. Especially the items allow them to see use especially with their new speed being much higher. The extra damage buff also gives them something to work with especially with the nerf to fishious rend which is definitely a huge blow to dracovish's damage output. This should give back some of its glory back while giving the other dino's use cases (as bolt beak still retains its vanilla form)

Name: Focus Band
Effect: Upon dropping below 1/4 Max HP you consume this item, The user has 1/8 of its maximum HP, rounded down, restored at the end of each turn while it remains active. Once per switch in
Can Be Knocked Off (Yes or No): Yes

Justification: Indicisive orb synergy! While idt this will make darm-g OU, i wanted to give this ability to others. This can really give good uses to pokemon like zarude, base darm, and something like ogerpon can really make good work with it.

Justification: This makes ice types a lot better defensively. With this ability they are able to hit take a lot better thanks to it removing a lot of bad weaknesses most dual types share as a result of it. It should be a great boost to their defense and viability
:pmd/amoonguss:
Name: Amoonguss
Type: Grass / Poison
Abilities: Corrosion / Prankster / Regenerator
New Moves: Teleport, Earth Power, Aromatherapy, Strength Sap, Leech Seed
Removed Moves: Spore
Justification: This makes amoonguss a much more interesting pokemon with stuff like worry seed, teleport, recover, strength sap to work with. It makes it quite a threat. With prankster it can also become something that shoots off HO thanks to t wave, strength sap, or a defog to get rid of hazards quickly. Teleport + Regen gives it enough tools to work with to make it work using so I feel this should bump it up to usable status.

Removed spore cuz prankster and i feel sleep is gonna be banned anyway if darkrai for whatever reason drops (hello safety goggles). Gave it corrosion as well, this makes it a nice lure into stuff like slowking-g, skarmory, corv, pex and forces progress against defense

:pmd/mew:
Name: Mew
Type: Psychic
Abilities: Trace / Moody / Protean
New Moves: Frostnip, Flex Off, Twister, Worry Seed, Self Repairing, Psystrike, Pebble Strike, Flame Burst, Twister, Land's Wrath, Brain Buster, Hammer Arm, Railgun, Zephyr Blade
Removed Moves:
Justification: mew has a lot of new toys to work with.

1. the new moves allow it to work a lot better defensively and offensively, with moves like frostnip, worry seed, buffed recovery. NP Sets really benefit from psystrike as it can really give it a brute force way against mons like slowking-g, zard y,hippowdon, and other mons who may use setup to deal with it like amnesia clodsire, calm mind enamorus, cm raging bolt, cm mega latias, etc. Flex off can also work as it can use its good physical movepool to take advantage of the fact that it gains a lot of bulk from it

2. the new abilities all benefit it in some way. Trace helps it defensively especially against users like flash fire heatran, regenerator slowbro, poison heal shaymin and others. While protean allows NP sets to always have some form of tricks up its sleeve and allow moves like vacuum wave, earth power, ice beam, and others to have stab on it. moody allows it to have solid bulk, speed, and attack without needing to worry where to put its nature to, this gives it more setup, more attack, and also makes its defensive sets all around better.

:pmd/mandibuzz: (RESUB)
Name: Mandibuzz
Type: Dark / Flying
Abilities: Overcoat / Prankster / Route Closed
New Moves: Haze, Stealth Rock, Taunt, Body Press, Parting Shot, Memento, Encore
Removed Moves:
Justification: Prankster mandibuzz with haze, defog, and other options like taunt, parting shot, toxic can show a lot of potential on a set. With its bulk and utility it can easily show offensive teams how hard it may be to deal with it as a prankster iron defense set can show how bulky it is and with prankster parting shot you can pivot in ur allies and even reducing the damage they take

Can Be Knocked Off: Yes
Ignored by Klutz: Yes
Fling Power & Effect: 20 BP, no additional effects.
Justification: Giving function to a functionless item while also further encouraging usage of Rest (particularly with Early Bird) while also punishing moves like Spore and Sleep Powder. Ultimately meant to serve as an alternative to Dreamcatcher for Pokémon that DON'T want to stay asleep.

Can Be Knocked Off: Yes
Ignored by Klutz: Yes
Fling Power & Effect: 100 BP, 100% recoil.
Justification: Monkey's Paw go brr. In all seriousness, this is essentially just No Guard, but for secondary effects and as an item; could be good on some offensive Pokémon, could be good on some defensive ones, however they all will suffer the consequences of the power this item grants.
Name: Dubious Mixture [Re-Sub]
Effect: This Pokémon's moves don't receive STAB, instead the base power of its 2nd and 4th known moves receive a 50% boost.

Potential Pokémon: :bronzong::smeargle::alcremie::appletun::muk-alola::delphox::greedent::dhelmise:

Name: Water Jet
Effect: This Pokémon's Water-type moves deal double damage against Steel-, Rock-, and Ground-type Pokémon.
Permanent: No
Ignored by Mold Breaker: No
Potential Pokémon: :barraskewda::basculegion-F::blastoise::clawitzer::cramorant::crawdaunt::kingdra::kingler::sharpedo:
Justification: Gives some Water-types extra punching power against Steel-, Rock-, and Ground-types.

Flying.png

Abilities: Run Away/Moody/Aerilate
Movepool Changes: +Axe Kick, Bulldoze, Detect, Dig, Double Kick, Headlong Rush, Quick Guard, Rock Smash, Superpower, Triple Kick, U-Turn
Justification: Very offensively-oriented Ground/Flying with big Flying attacks (alternatively, can get a little bit of everything in its stats with Moody). Noticeably faster than Lando-T, and has better Fighting coverage than it too, although it lacks any Rock moves.

:sv/walrein:
Name: Walrein
Type:
Ice.png
Water.png

Abilities: Thick Fat/Berserk/Oblivious
Movepool Changes: +Calm Mind, Flip Turn, Freeze-Dry, Ice Shard, Slack Off, Vacuum Wave
Justification: The biggest changes here, in my opinion, are giving Walrein access to Slack Off, extending its longevity, and Freeze Dry, allowing it to hit the Water-types for SE that would otherwise resist both its STABs. Other additions help it to either lean into a set-up (Calm Mind, Ice Shard, Vacuum Wave) or a defensive pivot (Flip Turn) role, and Berserk is a new option just to make Walrein a little more threatening.

:sv/eelektross:
Name: Eelektross
Type:

Poison.png

Abilities: Swift Swim/Levitate
Movepool Changes: +Acid Armor, Barb Barrage, Belch, Corrosive Gas, Cross Poison, Gunk Shot, Poison Fang, Poison Jab, Poison Tail, Venom Drench, Venoshock, Virulent Blast
Justification: Becoming part Poison-type grants Eelektross a number of more resistances that can allow it to more easily setup, and while its Ground weakness is doubled, Levitate patches that up as it did originally. Swift Swim serves as an alternative to solve Eelektross' poor speed, at the cost of needing to be in rain. While it does directly compete with Drapion as Poison-type Coil sweepers, it should be noted that Eelektross has more raw power, but in turn has less physical bulk and, as previously mentioned, is very slow at base 50, especially given Drapion's base 95, though, with that said, while uncommon, Trick Room should allow Eelektross to take advantage of its low speed if one so chooses, where Drapion would do rather poorly; and while Drapion may have one less weakness, has an immunity, and stands to take a hit better, or not even have to take a hit at all before getting off a coil, Eelektross does have several more resistances, and with Levitate, while it does take up its ability, it does turn its 4x ground weakness into an immunity, making it even with Drapion in that department.

Apologies for the lateness, council was busy. Subs are now closed and we shall move on with the vetos.
Oricorios are alright, Willo change seems unnessesary but its an interesting change, Unnerve gets vetoed. Unnerve is indetical to Cotton Down which was resubbed this slate.

Moves: Swarming and Sonic Boom get a pass, Payback and co gets vetoed, damage is nowhere nearly good enough to justify their use, bp raise is need.
Frozen Orb is cool, Keep Cool as well.
Adjustments: All of these get a pass, but I am weary of Dragapult.

Moves and Abilities all get a pass, Fissure is the one that interests me the most. Magnetic Cloak is vetoed, not a single mon will use this priority moves aren´t something that scares most mons enough to drop all other item options. All adjustments here get vetoed as well. Floatzel and Hounstone are simply not OU level while Stamina Zamazenta sounds frankly ridiculous.

Was considering vetoing but it does have the one very useful case of being extremely useful for ditto, perhaps you could buff it so that it also guarantees outspeeding pokémon of the same species?

Like the moves, adjustment and abilities. Vetoing the item, neither of the persian nor perserker get any more useful having this item. For Persian I suggest boost offense, not defenses. Boosts should be x2 to be in conversations of viability.

Moves: Resub skip. Brain Drain is boring but it does its function correctly, I don´t think psychis are particularly pressed to beat special attacks however, so I doubt this move will be too much useful, if you are to maake a special sap clone it would be best on a typing with middling special defense in general like rock or fighting. I don´t really like the Circle throw clones, special clean slate which is yet another damn physical rock type attack, as if we haven´t added enough of those already, gets a pass because these are guaranteed to be viable but other than that not really a fan of them.
Abilities: Resubs look nice. Seed Sower looks incredibly annoying, mostly because of its inconsistency. I would personally make the seed effect more consistentt at 50%, or make a special condition that guarantees the seeding (eg not receiving direct damage or hitting a not very effective target), Im not a fan of its current iteration.
Mons: Togekiss gets a pass, Thick Fat was really good in Teramax. Levitate Chandy also looks potentially interesting so Im willing to let it pass as well. Jirachi gets vetoed. We are not in need of bulky steel, much less one that is the most egregious example of this. I believe this should lose hospitality, the rest of the sub is way more tolerable.

Regis get Vetoed on the account of Regigigas having Clear Body + Recover + Multiattack. Those elements together are a recipe for disaster, given gigas´ record of being strong with a decent ability around, and with 16pp recover and a nuclear stab this might be too much. Remove one of those elements from the equation, preferably recover.

Moves: Like Octazooka and Really like Spin clones. Metal Buster´s effect is nowhere near as punishing enough, as setup sweepers can run laps around your team. I would go with giving it the Glaive Rush effect so that there´s more counterplay to the move.
Items: Focus Band sounds interesting with regen mons Fossilised items are sigs which I personally hate but other than that both item subs are good enough.
Abilities: Gorrila Tactics would need a very strict distribution but I can see it working, especially with band users not being effective at using it. Could you be a more specific on Ice Body? It says it turns water moves into ice moves, does this mean its own, the opponent´s or both?
Adjustments: Mandi a resub so it gets a pass. Amoonguss and Mew are vetoes. While I appreciate the restrain with no prankster Spore, it getting glare and Sap is wholly unnecessary given it's getting t-wave and recover already, those moves push it to the edge, take those out and it should be good to go. Chicken Dance / Dragon Dance Protean Mew is not an idea I would like to entertain, so it's a pass on that one for me.

Uproot is alright I guess. Rulebook is interesting for scouting and could maybe be used by defensive mons. Outplay looks like hell to code and the inconsistency in damage makes it no reliable, so unfortunately we will have to veto.

Moves: They all get a pass, I think Party Favors is the coolest of this.
Items: Resub is cool, Mankey´s paw is vetoed. No possible way to balance guaranteed secondary effects like Flinch, Freeze and the like.
Abilities: Resub gets a pass, Water Jet is vetoed. Water types have historically never struggled against water types, so absolutely no self respecting water type will run this ability unless it genuinely doesn't have a decent ability besides it.
Adjustments: Eelektross is the only one that gets a pass, Dodrio and Walrein get vetoed. Walrein is not good enough, while Dodrio has a complete retype which is not something we are going to entertain.

Gonna make this quick, and give a little more than 12 hours before begining voting.

Thanks for the reply even though you guys are all obviously busy. I've overhauled Rocket Meowth-nip for them all, even if Persian-Alola's were already probably fine, so that they're more cohesive and also more flavorful by hating on Pikachu and other Electric types by extension a lot. I'm fine if they're still vetoed, especially if they would be too annoying to code like some other items. I just wanted to get the idea out of my head really.

See you whenever voting starts. In the meanwhile, have a good weekend.

Voting is now open!

The following sub(s) will be vetoed and disqualified from voting:
Swagodile´s Vigor Charm (Pretty terrible + outclassed by Cigar)
Swagodile´s Circuit Booster (Redundant with Quick Draw Vikavolt)
Swagodile´s Exeggutors (Afraid to say this changes are still not good enough.)
The Damned´s Meowth Item (Still not good enough to keep the cats viable)
Sparkrolf´s Water Jet (Still not relevant enough for any water type to run it)

Voting Format
In each category, you may vote for 6 submissions, with 2 self-votes in each category (so you can vote for 24 submissions with 8 total self-votes). Please specify which votes are self-votes. You don't have to list who made the submission unless someone else subbed something with the same name/species. The order you put it in does not matter, every vote is worth 1 point.

Here are the winners of Slate 8!

Tally can be found here.

Name: Octazooka
Power: 70
Accuracy: 100
PP: 20
Category: Special
Type: Water
Effect: Has a 100% Chance to lower the opponents sp. def by 1 stage
Priority: 0
Flags (ex: Contact, Sound): Bullet, Pulse
Potential Pokémon With This Move: :kingdra: :greninja: :arceus: :mew: :mewtwo: :basculin: :blastoise: :clawitzer: :palafin: :cramorant: :kyogre: :inteleon: :keldeo: :lanutnr: :ludicolo: :lumineon: :manaphy: :milotic: :alomomola: :palkia: :politoed: :primarina:
Justification: Gives a water type move used for breaking through opponents, an excellent tool to take advantage of hazards / racking up dmg by forcing switch outs
Name: Parabolic Charge [Re-Sub]
Electric.png
|
Special.png
| PP: 10 (16) | Power: 75 | Accuracy: 100% | Priority: 0
Effect: Restores the user's HP by an amount equal to half the damage dealt.
Flags: Protect, Mirror, Heal
Potential Pokémon: Current distribution + :Chinchou:, :Mareep:, :Stunfisk:, :Togedemaru:, :Pincurchin:
Justification: I wanted to make the move strong, boosting its power into the club of 75 BP draining moves (which really shouldn't be that much of an ask, given Matcha Gotcha exists), and as to extend its distribution to more Electric-type mons.
Name:
1737172677983.png
Pokérus Vaccine
Effect: On switch-in, the user is inflicted with a non-volatile condition that halves damage taken from Poison-type moves and prevents poisoning, then is consumed.
Can Be Knocked Off (Yes or No): Yes
Ignored by Klutz (Yes or No): Yes
Fling Power & Effect: 386 BP (can't be used as for the item to not be consumed would require Klutz, which prevents using Fling)
Justification: Basically an item that enables some rather specific usage defensively by allowing some Pokemon to sponge status more easily while also taking less damage from Knock Off and especially Poltergeist in the process.
Name: Rulebook
Effect: On switch-in, reveals the held items of all opposing Pokemon and negates their effect for two turns. The message "[Holder] is identifying [Opposing Pokemon]'s [Held Item] using its Rulebook!" is displayed.
Can Be Knocked Off (Yes or No): Yes
Ignored by Klutz (Yes or No): No
Fling Power & Effect: 50, inflicts Embargo.
Justification: Temporary item control.
Name: Karate
Effect: User's Normal-type moves become Fighting-type and are boosted by x1.2.
Permanent (Yes or No): No
Mold Breaker (Yes or No): No
Potential Pokémon With This Ability: :mewtwo mega x:, :sawk:, :throh:, :lopunny:, :gallade:, :urshifu-rapid-strike:, :kommo-o:, :machamp:, :silvally-fighting:(Fighting)
Justification: Fighting-types are often vulnerable to being revenge killed by Close Combat, so this tries to mitigate that a bit.
Name: Keep Cool
Effect: If this Pokemon is statused, its Sp.Attack is 1.5x; ignores freeze halving special damage.
Permanent (Yes or No): No
Mold Breaker (Yes or No): No
Potential Pokémon With This Ability: No idea bro
Justification: Special Guts. Insane.
Name: Cotton Down (RESUB)
Effect
: Upon entry, the wielder Lowers all adjacent opponents' Speed by 1 stage
Permanent: No
Mold Breaker: No
Potential Pokémon With This Ability: :altaria: :whimsicott: :eldegoss: :jumpluff: :lopunny: :ampharos-mega: :swirlix: :roserade: :blissey: :virizion: :celebi: :bouffalant: :wigglytuff::crabominable: :bewear: + mons with pivoting
Name: Ice Body
Effect: If non-Ice loses Ice-type weaknesses. If ice type then it removes all ice weaknesses and Water-type moves targeting this Pokemon become Ice-type
Permanent (Yes or No):
Mold Breaker (Yes or No):
Potential Pokémon With This Ability: :abomasnow: :arctozolt: :arctovish: :sneasel: :calyrex-ice: :crabominable: :kyurem: :kyurem-white: :kyurem-black: :mamoswine: :piloswine: :regice: :darmanitan-galar: :glalie: :lapras: :chien-pao::rotom-frost::articuno:
Justification: This makes ice types a lot better defensively. With this ability they are able to hit take a lot better thanks to it removing a lot of bad weaknesses most dual types share as a result of it. It should be a great boost to their defense and viability

:sv/kangaskhan::sv/kangaskhan-mega:
:sv/togekiss:
Name: Togekiss
Type:
1736919918360.png
/
1736919932455.png

:pmd/mew:

With its bulk and utility it can easily show offensive teams how hard it may be to deal with it as a prankster iron defense set can show how bulky it is and with prankster parting shot you can pivot in ur allies and even reducing the damage they take
Discussion phase will be in session and we will take another break week for balance changes. As always, join the Discord if you haven't already and let us know about how you feel about the winners and potential distribution!
