Hello and welcome to the second iteration of PUBD! This tour aims to highlight our oldgens a little bit more, while also being a blind draft! We're looking for 6 managing duos gain this year, but we are open to expanding to 8 teams if we get sufficient, good managerial duos. Managers are expected to have past PU team tour experience, managed in a Smogon team tournament before, and/or be a major contributor to PU. To manage, please post the following in one post:
  • Your team name (please refrain from inappropriate names)
  • Why you and your co-manager deserve to manage
The budget for auction this year will be 130k and there will be a minimum of 3 substitutes required per team. Pricing for selfbuys will also be a little different this year and mirror the formula from RUPL, seen below (and you can play with a test sheet for pricing courtesy of DugZa) :

Manager price = (M-1) * 0.5 * # of wins last PUBD+ (P + 3) + 0.75 * # of wins last PUBD- 1 * # of losses last PUBD
M being the number of selfbuys performed by the team (1 or 2).
P being the price of said player in their last PUBD capped at 17. If they never played PUBD or if their price was lower than 10, it defaults to 10.
The result is rounded up.
Managers are also expected to be active in their teamchat and respond quickly with substitutes or lineups.

Explanation of the rules written out:

In this new blind draft format, managers will submit a private bid to the bot for the player who is up for auction in intervals of 0.5k.
If they decide they don't want the player, they are able to abstain from the bid entirely.
If there is a clear winning bid, then they will pay the price that the second highest bidder placed + 0.5k. If there were no other bidders, then they will get the player for 3k.
If there is a tie and one of the tied teams nominated the player, they win the tie.
If there is a tie, both managers bid the original price or higher. The winner has to pay the full price they bid.

Manager signups will close January 19th and player signups will be posted then with the chosen format and managers.

Why would you be a good manager? (Prior experience + any other additional details): Will be my first time managing but between the 2 of us we're extremely active in the community and knowledgeable about a plethora of metas, super eager to contribute more and this feels like a great way to do so. Vy actually has some experience managing smaller tours. Overall looking forward to this tour no matter what ❤️

Why would you be a good manager? (Prior experience + any other additional details): Meri has plenty of manager experience, winning PUPL X as well as reaching playoffs in NUPL XII. I managed last PUBD and in PUPL IX, and we made playoffs both times. We're both old, so we know a thing or two about supporting players in the older generations. Finally, we both think you're pretty cool.
