Welcome to the Pure Hackmons Premier League- a chance to show that you shine in Pure Hackmons!​

Replays are going to be required for all matches, and best-of-three will be enforced (although you can gentleman to any other odd-numbered best-of series). The Wildcard format is going to be Brilliant Diamond / Shining Pearl Pure Hackmons. Please post any replays both here and in the #tournament-games channel in the Pure Hackmons Discord server. Scheduling will be up to the players, although managers can be contacted if there are any problems. Matches will be due by Sunday, February 23rd at 11:59pm GMT-5. Good luck to all of the teams!

This tournament will be made up of four teams (subject to change depending on the number of signups), and each team will have six main players and at least two substitutes. Players will be purchased in a draft with the 70,000 points assigned to each team to spend. Managers can buy themselves for 13,500 points, and must let one of the tournament hosts (Electra102 and/or Test Rex) know before the draft. The price of a player will be dependent on the auction, with players starting at 3,000 points and the minimum bet being 500 points.

The tiers played will be USUM PH, USUM PH, ORAS PH, ORAS PH, DPPt PH, and the Wild Card. The wild card format will be one of GSC PH, ADV PH, BW PH, SwSh PH, BDSP PH, and SV PH, and will be randomly selected each week.

All games will be played on the Smogtours server, and challenge codes will be provided for formats that are not challengeable. Best-of-three will be enforced for every format, although players can gentleman to a best-of-one, or even a higher number of matches (for example, a best-of-five).

Teams will earn points depending on how well their players do each week. Each team will earn two points for every complete set of matches a player wins. Any ties will not be considered complete games, and will be replayed. After each team has played every other team, the playoffs will begin. The team with the most points will face the team with the least, and the remaining two teams will face each other. Once that week is complete, the two winning teams will face each other in the finals. Whichever team wins the finals wins the tournament.

In the case of a tie in the finals, three best-of-threes will be played- one of ORAS is required, and each team will be allowed to choose a format (that was either played earlier as a wild card or is USUM/DPPt) to play. If both teams choose the same format, USUM will become the third format. If USUM is chosen by both teams, DPPt will become the third format.

Replays will be required. Please send replays to the tournament-games channel in the Pure Hackmons Discord server. The link will be provided in the next section. Please post replays as well in the dedicated thread for that week here on the Smogon Forums.

The tournament will take up to seven weeks to complete for your team. Please try to stay active in your team's Discord server throughout that period.

Some reminders of rules-
  • Tourbanned players are not allowed to participate. A team that knowingly drafts a banned player under an alt will be severely punished
  • Any players that are caught having signed up under an alt to lower their price will also be punished
  • If a drafted player is ejected from the tournament, the team they were on will be allowed to choose an undrafted player at no cost
  • Trades are not allowed
  • There are no retains
Activity calls can be started when a player is 15 minutes late to a match, and can be started by pinging the entire opposing team in the PHPL Discord server (please explain who is missing in your ping). If a manager is not responding, any sub that is not playing that week can independently take the battle themselves. Otherwise, the substitution decision will be up to the opposing team’s manager. After 30 minutes has passed after an activity call has been made, and no substitute has been found, the win will be given to whoever made the activity call.

Thought I will put it here instead

ORAS 1: realExcaliju vs. Berry (45-50 | 50-55)
Firstly, I'm a Berry fan. Secondly, he has shown he is good at teambuilding and clicking buttons in Games 2 and 3 against Sheep and Game 2 against Max. Excaliju has decent teambuilding, especially with the help of Glory and Aerobee, but I'm slightly leaning towards Berry for this one.

ORAS 2: Glory vs. NToTheN (52-60 | 40-48)
Glory has played well both weeks with teams that are relatively interesting. Glory's games are usually interesting, as Glory could reverse sweep when you just make a tiny mistake. Glory just knows his stuff. Although N is the PH goat, Glory is more of a better builder in ORAS, so I will lean towards Glory for this one.

USUM 1: RichardMillePlain vs. teamo (50-56 | 44- 50)
Richard has pulled off a massive upset with his W over cscl. Teamo, however, also played relatively well against Lag in his Gen9 game. They both have similar teambuilding and consistency, and this game, in my opinion, will be one of the games to look for this week.

USUM 2: Akira 153 vs. rightclicker (48-54 | 46-52)
Akira played really well, for someone who hasn't really played USUM PH before. I guess Aerobee team support is already enough. Rightclicker also ended up playing better than I expected. However, Akira exceeded all my expectations, and I will be slightly leaning towards him for this one.

DP: Highlord vs. Planet (39-45 | 55-61)
I genuinely think Highlord stands a chance. Highlord has proven to be a decent battler and teambuilder, especially when week 1 and 2 games were relatively close. Planet was able to use his fast lead to his advantage, allowing him to win week 2, proving him to be an excellent battler and builder. This will be another game to look out for in week 3.

Wildcard: FC Vs Iguana (45-55 | 45-55)
We have yet another close game. BDSP is just Mewtwo, Arceus, Slaking spam. They both stand a chance in this match, as they have both proven to play really well in different generations of Pure Hackmons. (Tho FC doesn't really play PH mainly.)

Okay, slight rant incoming...

I want to preface this by saying this actually has nothing to do with my series against Fc. Those were clean games, and he played great. Well deserved wins. However, BDSP PH should not have a place in our tours. It is a stunningly unbalanced metagame where the threats are so extensive and the defensive resources so limited that it takes a serious effort to wrap your head around how to even approach it. I spent most of this week teambuilding, testing, reading threads, etc. just trying to grasp how to win in––or at least comprehend––a tier based significantly around coinflips, guesses, and the absence of defensive utility. I implore our tour hosts and OM/PH leaders to rectify this situation by not having BDSP PH back for another PH team tour.

I do want to lastly thank Ballfire and sussyamongusdrip for helping me immensely this week tackle such an insane metagame.
