This is the quest to find the loneliest Smogoff thread. This is what I'm naming the least engaged with thread in Smogoff.
Did you know? The default thread view has threads listed by the most recent reply. But you can filter by other metrics, such as number of replies, views, or even first message reaction score. To find the loneliest Smogoff thread though, I felt like a good place to start was to filter by least number of replies, which gives us...
45 Threads Remain
Wow. In More than four years of Smogoff there have been almost 3,000 threads and only 45 of them didn't warrant a single reply. Some of these can be chalked up to them being locked right away though. Surely a moderator action counts as engagement with a thread, right? So if we exclude threads that were locked before a reply could even be posted, we have...
37 Threads Remain
We can cut this down even further though! A few of these threads have polls posted in them, all of which have at least some votes. This is still engagement with the thread, meaning we can eliminate a few more...
35 Threads Remain
That actually didn't cut this down as much as I thought it would. However, here's something that will: looking at the reaction score of the first message. In this next step we're going to eliminate all the threads that have been reacted to. After all, the loneliest thread would have no reactions, right? This cuts a lot out, giving us...
2 Threads Remain
Whoa! That's actually kind of nuts that there's only two threads in all of Smogoff history that have no replies, no reaction score, no poll responses, and have not been touched by a moderator's hands. Again, this is out of almost 3,000 threads. Here's the thing though, one of these two threads (and the inspiration for this thread, actually) was just posted a little over 24 hours ago, that being the chrome hotkey or whatever thread by RainWaiv. Surely, this thread is too new to be considered the loneliest thread in all of Smogoff. It's still on the first page, after all! This means...
1 Thread Remains
Yes, after all our filtering we are left with one singular lonely thread. It has never been replied to. It has never been reacted to. It doesn't have a poll to respond to. And it was insignificant enough that the moderation team didn't give it a second thought. It was posted over two years ago, on September 22, 2022, and has only garnered 307 views, some of which are exclusively because of the creation of this thread.
Now, I thought about keeping this knowledge to myself. After all, if I reveal the loneliest thread in all of Smogoff, the only one that meets all of the above parameters, it will inevitably be reacted to, replied to, or locked. That's just how these things work. However, I think there's some beauty in highlighting the overlooked, the mundane.
Thus, I present to you all, the loneliest thread in all of Smogoff:
Dora by Let's go shuckles
What does this landmark, loneliest thread contain? A broken image and a single sentence: "She is the greatest"
I have to disagree. Not because I hate Dora (I'm assuming we're talking about the Explorer, but with the broken image, we may never know). Even though the Dora thread will now inevitably NOT become the loneliest thread on Smogon now that I've made a whole thread dedicated to highlighting its loneliness, it will always hold a special place in my heart. So for a brief moment in time, I can safely say that the Dora thread, not Dora herself, is in fact the greatest.
Thank you.
