Done Follow Me + Pursuit

What type of bug are you reporting? Mechanics

What is the bug?
The mechanical interaction of Pursuit and Follow Me/Rage Powder while a target is switching out due to a Pivot move such as U-Turn is incorrect. On Showdown the Pursuit condition is activated after the U-Turn move is used, however the actual attack of Pursuit is redirected into Follow Me. But in the actual cartridge games the Pursuit attack is NOT redirected by Follow Me and instead will always hit the target that is switching out with U-Turn. I have a link to both the cartridge battle where I showcase the correct interaction as well as a link to the Showdown battle with the incorrect interaction.

I am unsure how this would work via other switching out situations such as Eject Pack, Eject Button, or Red Card as I don't have those items on cartridge yet, but I assume as long as they activate Pursuit's condition to immediately act then they would also make Pursuit ignore redirection if the opponent is being switched out. I will attempt to check this once I am able to get Eject Button and Red Card (I assume Eject Pack would function the same but that item isn't available in a game that Pursuit can be used).

I am also wondering, just as a fun aside, for Doubles Hackmons purposes how the interaction of using Pursuit by a Propeller Tail or Stalwart Pokémon would work. Seeing as Pursuit's condition being activated will always redirect the user's Pursuit attack into the Pokémon switching out rather than their original target, but Propeller Tail and Stalwart say that the move cannot be redirected from their original target by any effect. Currently on Showdown as I've tested, it seems the Pursuit interaction and condition of redirection trumps those abilities as it still redirects to the Pokémon being withdrawn. However there could be an argument as with the way the abilities are written it should actually ignore the redirection effect of Pursuit's own condition. But I suppose that's a topic for another time!

Also please ignore the fact I said Parting Shot was a gen 8 move in the video, I misspoke, it is indeed gen 6 haha. It is just so limited with which Pokémon could use it, I had forgotten. Anyway, please let me know if you need anything else from me to confirm in regards to fixing this issue. Thank you!

And a Screenshot as well:

As you can see in the Debug, Follow Me redirected the Pursuit here.

Cartridge Battle:
As you can see in the video of in game footage, Follow Me did NOT redirect the Pursuit here.

Edits: Added a Screenshot and imbedded the video via the Media function rather than just a link to it to make it easier to see everything.

Are you able to replicate it? If so, how?
It's a mechanic so it was very easy to keep replicating it. I also checked using Rage Powder and other pivot moves such as Volt Switch, Flip Turn, and Parting Shot. Each time it resulted in the same issue of Pursuit being redirected when it shouldn't be on Showdown. I have all those replays if those links are also needed.

Hey! Just curious as it's my first time in this situation, what exactly does fixing it in the PR mean? Does it still take a bit to be implemented in Showdown itself? I tested it earlier today and the Pursuit was still being redirected, so was wondering about the process of things if it's alright to ask!

I know you guys are very busy and it's a lot of work to run the whole site so like no rush or anything of course!

A pull request (PR) is a request to make a code change. The status of the PR is "open" meaning the change has not been implemented yet. "Merged" would indicate its been added to the main codebase but is not necessarily live on the server yet as that requires an admin to update the server (hotpatch or restart).

Wonderful, thank you for letting me know! ^-^

Basically, I submitted a possible fix for this bug, and now we have to wait for a PS admin to review it and hopefully accept it.
