The rules:

-you have a budget of 200 million
-You have to introduce either Ash or Red as mentor figures for the protagonist, but you have to cast Jack Black regardless of who you choose
-duration of 2 hours max
-prioritize box office success and casual approval above critical claim, but bonus points if you can get both
-you get 1 smogon celebrity guest appearance, but cant be critical to the plot

edit: Region has to be Kanto, but you're allowed to bring more mons for extra epic factor + recognizable brand

The obvious play is to go with Red because he never talks and that would automatically make Jack Black 10x more tolerable.

on one hand, I could just say "Detective Pikachu movie gg." on the other hand, this could be fun

-200 million budget:
this seems fairly simple as the Detective Pikachu movie's budget was $150 million. So you could even crank up the CGI and whatnot and still have plenty of room to spare

-Ash or Red mentor figure:
Ash is more recognizable and we want this to be box office success, so I go with him. I don't care if he has to be played by Jack Black, I feel like the comedy is there. Ash does some goofy stuff, so does Jack Black. I can absolutely see him doing a bit about Misty's bike for instance.

-duration of 2 hours max:
again, Detective Pikachu movie comes in at under 2 hours. I see no issues here either.

-prioritize box office/casual approval
broken record here, but Detective Pikachu made three times its budget. Pokemon prints money no matter what you do. this is too easy.

-Smogon celebrity guest appearance
Finchinator duh.

-Kanto region
Easily fine, nostalgia junkies will eat this up if it's Kanto. But I'm also going to bring in Rayquaza as main antagonist since people have a boner for that
