I recently started playing competitively, and so far i'm been doing okay with limited experience in the meta-game. All I really did to get started with was choosing some of the pokemon i've liked, since it is a game, after all; there's no real team strategy but whatever goes on in the game, using whatever knowledge i've grabbed from just playing through the game. This team has been doing pretty decently, so i was wondering if i could somehow mold it into an actual "team" by getting some advices on tweaks and warnings :>.
Dotaku (Bronzong) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/152 Atk/8 Def/96 SDef
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Gyro Ball
- Earthquake
- Hypnosis
- Stealth Rock
---
fun lead. start off with a hypnosis and set up rocks. pretty much a standard bronzong. i've been thinking about using trick room, but this pretty much serves as my main phys wall.
Psilocybin (Breloom) (F) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 44 HP/252 Atk/212 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Focus Punch
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
- Spore
---
although spore is a great move, i sometimes find it hard to use it after i pull a hypnosis off with bronzong. would it be better to replace it with seed bomb/stone edge or just to use it for late game?
Fetch (Gengar) (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Focus Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Explosion
---
My favorite pokemon :3. decided to go to choice specs instead of standard since i don't really need another sleep move, and it's been a lot easier to pull off quick kills. i usually wait 'till mid game so i have some sense of what the opponent is carrying.
Autobot (Donphan) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP/6 Atk/252 Def
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Rapid Spin
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Roar
---
i abuse his defense a little too much. i tend to switch into this guy a lot to either RS or roar something. Shuffle things around and take some advantage of my SRs. Somewhat used for my fire weakness.
Brongniart (Yanmega) (F) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 4 Def/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Air Slash
- Bug Buzz
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Protect
---
i have a lot of fun with yanmega. switch in and grab a speed boost, use protect for another, and focus sash for one more. tends to be my main offense, fun sweeper.
LZ 129 Hindenburg (Togekiss) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP/6 Def/252 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Air Slash
- Thunder Wave
- Roost
- Aura Sphere
---
flinch. serves as my special wall, only because of my lack of one. Just thunder wave/Air slash, roost when needed; status and annoy with hax. takes down quite a lot thanks to it's bulkiness. haven't had any conflict with electrivire, so i don't really know how my team would react to that.
my team is pretty much smog-on built, due to my lack of knowledge/creativity to really customize it, but it's been doing okay so far. Just wondering if there was a way to organize this team (or the majority of this team) into something that would work well together. My main problem is pretty much fire, with 4 of my pokemon weak to it. heatran poses as a real hassle, but donphan does the job somewhat done (if he isn't dead from my abuse of his def...). half of my team is weak to ice, but i haven't run into any real trouble with that. i've been trying to steer away from garchomp, ttar, blissey, and skarmory, so i won't look like 90% of the other players and only 50% ;>.
