not to be pretentious but yall should really read this… C.H.A.T. (Come Here for All Talk)

i wholeheartedly believe you could get anyone to do anything if you made some equivalent of letterboxd for it. letterboxd for operating systems. letterboxd for academic journals. letterboxd for wikipedia articles. the possibilities are limitless

what the fuck is a letterboxd?
public movie/show review site that doesn't have a separate critic score and also gives you a profile list with the stuff you've watched and rated+a couple paragraphs explaining why you like or dont like a movie. fun site, give it a shot sometimes.

there needs to be an app like letterboxd but for music, there are a couple of desktop-centric website like that but they all suck

RYM skews heavily toward the tastes of 4chan's music board (and, more recently, Anthony Fantano), which is not without its upsides — they were right about a few things in their time — but if you're into stuff outside that range of taste, you're gonna be pissed off at how many of your favorites are disparaged by small armies of lame white people. If you can ignore what other people are saying about stuff you've already heard, I think it's a decent site for cataloguing/discovery.

yeah my issue isnt even that its a site that likes indies more than popular music, i think being around people who are more haters about popular music and show you some shit with 4 monthly listeners is great for you. its that they also dont even care abt fun indie shit either!!!!

On that note (heh)

I fucking love it when you find a random song with like a hundred plays by an artist with like 1k monthly listeners, and it's just peak. Like listen to this:

Not even a thousand people have heard it. Crazy

Breeze in my hair, warm but not too warm, sunny, maybe a nice little drink in hand… this song is good vibes, thanks for sharing

The one that I found recently that fits the bill with less than 100 listens that is really good is…

rym users when i tell them my favorite electronic album is discovery by daft punk and not an industrial breakcore album released under a pseudonym of an already niche artist where 70% of the samples are of the artist having intercourse with his girlfriend

(yes its a real album)

There's a road near where I live that used to have a lot of trees but recently most of them have been cut down to build houses. I was passing the area the other day and thought about how much nicer it was prior to the houses being cut down. It was then that I realized that I had become a NIMBY. Very sad.

there was this ad in the late 2000s that was about a guy (looked kinda like David Beckham or Andrew Garfield) who just kinda went from one extreme sport to another through cuts. Like I think it started in a mountain cabin and it cut to snowboarding or something. And the endscreen was black with white writing of whatever was promoted. I think it was sports gear or a sports promoter or something

I am bringing this up because it had an absolute banger song in it

I haven't thought about it for decades but I had a dream of it yesterday. Does anyone remember it? Does anyone remember the song?

What a truly bizarre cultural inflection point we've reached where there are now lego tie-in cartoons more visually exciting than much of Disney's output for the past half decade or so
