so a resume doesn't really do much when most of the results are not known to newer users and the activity surrounding the management being voted on is seasonal.
I say this with no intent behind it other than to be constructive, so I preemptively apologize if any of this comes across as toxic!
Does the voting period include a period of discussion beforehand? It seems like this'd be a great idea to clear up anything with managerial pairs who hosts are more unsure of. I think jrdn made a ton of effort on his end to advocate for himself (which lowkey I doubt was necessary, everyone knows who he is and I think everyone said he'd be a shoe in) and word's resume would've been great to have beforehand, but if there are concerns in the future behind activity and other stuff, a discussion period feels like it'd at least somewhat mitigate that. I doubt it'd solve the issue entirely, but I don't really think there's a perfect solution that covers all bases and this feels like it'd cover most. I don't really need a response to this at all, much less immediately (although it'd be nice to know if something like that is being considered) but having a set deadline for manager signups and then a date like two days after where you wanna announce results would probably help w/ this. Furthermore, assuming this already exists, I feel like it'd be beneficial for hosts to contact potential managers with any concerns and stuff. Messaging jrdn being like "hey I know you and you're awesome and I know word was awesome but idk if word's awesome anymore (he is), my concerns are x y z" and relaying that to the managers chat probably could've helped this outcome. It's too late to do anything now, but I feel as though this'd make things more fair on the end of people who wanna sign up by giving them a chance to make their case if the stuff in the signup thread doesn't address all the concerns people may have. I understand the need to have some things behind closed doors and I think most of this stuff should be kept behind closed doors, but I also fully believe that a hypothetical manager should be allowed to make their case. I'm not saying message HarryStyles69420 who signed up with ZaynMalik1111 (i prob shouldve picked different names) and have 1 forum post each - there probably doesn't need to be a set line for this. You guys are the hosts, you can decide when it's appropriate to message someone, but I do think this definitely was one of those cases.
While I'm here also - I don't really appreciate anyone (including my friends - you know exactly who you are and yes, I'm talking about you too, not just any one person) bringing up specific managers where anyone can see them and using them as an example of someone who could've been dismissed. There's a way to say "jrdn and word definitely should've got in" and that's a point of view I agree with, but where you lose me is when you start to discredit the other managers in an attempt to justify your point. They did nothing wrong by signing up and they don't deserve to read anything that's hurtful. Everyone has passion for the tournament and nobody who signed up and got in did it just because they felt like it. By saying this stuff, you just deincentivize people from signing up and that's not something you should be doing if you have an ounce of passion for the community. Yes, jrdn's everyone's friend including mine and I understand wanting to defend him which is the only reason I'm even taking the time to type this out, but all the other managers are also human beings and it's just straight up wrong to talk about these people like that.
Also, stop hating on the hosts and calling them incompetent and other shit like that - while I don't agree with the result by any means and think several points of the process could've gone better, this is a volunteer job and while volunteers are still 100% able to be criticized, there's no reason for them to listen to you if you won't be respectful. They put time and effort into this tournament and yeah, they're human, but you don't get shit done IRL by talking to people the way I've seen some of you talk to the hosts (and other people online). Like, if that works for you then I'm honestly surprised but that is not how shit works in the real world and some of the people I'm talking about are far past their teenage years so they know that by now. Do better and grow up. The only dumb and incompetent people in charge right now are the people in the White House.
To put it shortly: hosts, the first paragraph is meant for your eyes although you can read the rest if you wanna - community, read the entire thing and put your big guy/gal/enby pal pants on.
haha/wow react if you wanna make out, im accepting applications
