Chapter 7: The Ballad of Snowmantis and Coins

All of the Districts have now rallied around Luigi Coin to storm the capital of Pan-UUem and take down the evil villain Big Snow Mantis! For the past 7 weeks, the players have been subjected to the cruel and dystopian world of the Hunger Games. This orchestration by the Capital has taken advantage of the people for far too long! The 8 Districts, united under one banner, have now begun their march!

But Big Snow Mantis is waiting for them at the capital. Perched atop the glittering, frostbitten spire of the Capitol Tower, Big Snow Mantis surveyed the icy landscape as his army of robotic Delibird drones zipped in formation. He knew the rebellion was coming—and he was ready. Or so he thought.

The united front of the Districts had never been stronger. Blipbug City Battlegirls led the charge with intel gathered from years of surveillance, their eyes and antennae everywhere. Behind them, the elite strike force Azelf on the Shelf hovered on psychic terrain, warping through shadows and sending waves of confusion into the enemy ranks. Flapple Bottom Jeans made the first real breakthrough. Queen of Bean and TMM had trained their tributes to burrow beneath the Capital walls using Dig and Dragon Rush, creating unstable tunnels under the main gate. As chaos erupted, The Three Flamigos flew in—three squawking birds of flamboyant fury—raining Brave Birds and Close Combats with the elegance of trained assassins.

Within minutes, the outer defenses fell.

From the east flank came Diancie is Unbreakable, their gem-armored tributes refracting lasers and reflecting status attacks with Diamond Storms. "Let their crystals crack!" cried a fairy, as Rasche commanded the district's Diancies to form a diamond bridge straight into the heart of the tower. But it was Silicobra Kai who turned the tide. Silent and serpentine, Slip and jackuzzler slithered beneath the radar, disabling the Capitol’s traps with stealth. "Strike first, strike hard, no mercy," they whispered, launching a coordinated Earthquake that shattered the defense systems. Then came Black Ops Spidops—web-slinging, toxin-laced, masters of misdirection. The Spidop tributes, trained by Lizzie and Petros, cloaked Luigi Coin in a protective stealth suit of silk, allowing the rebel leader to bypass the final defense: the Tower of Mantis.

At the peak of the tower, Gilderoy Lokix met him. Jeza.p and dunoks had battled their way past snowstorms and Snom guardians, standing tall with the last glimmer of hope. Lokix, bruised but not broken, stepped aside, bowing. "The end is yours, Luigi. Go save the world and restore peace. We are all counting on you."

With the combined power of every District behind him, Luigi Coin ascended the frozen spire. Big Snow Mantis hissed, wings shimmering in a spectral aura, casting a Blizzard so cold it turned air to crystal.

Luigi threw a Master Ball. Not at Mantis—but past him.

The ball opened... and out came a figure long thought lost to time.

:Arceus: Arceus. :Arceus:

The god of Pokémon had been imprisoned by the Capitol, hidden away to prevent interference. But the rebellion had found it. And now, the balance was restored.

But Big Snow Mantis smiled. “Ha. Haha. Hahaha. Ahahahaha! Luigi, my boy, you found the Arceus you were looking for. The god you so desperately needed. How quaint. But tell me… do your soldiers outside know this was your plan all along? That the spark of rebellion—the grand march, the glorious speeches—was all just misdirection to buy you time? Do they know you struck this path alone? That you left them to bleed in the snow while you hunted for a divine cheat code? No. They worship you. They believe in you. And belief, Luigi… that is the cruelest lie of all.

You are no better than me. And we—you and I—are no better than all of them. You kill with fire. I kill with frost. But we are the same blade. Sharpened by necessity. Forged in fear. So go ahead. Summon your Arceus. Pretend you’re justice incarnate. But in the end, when the snow melts and the blood dries, they’ll build statues of you… just like they did of me. And one day, they’ll tear yours down, too.”

"You don't get it, Mantis. You never did. You think I brought Arceus here to end you? No. I brought it to end this—this broken cycle of tyrants birthing tyrants. You see ashes and thrones. I see people—my people—finally ready to rise. Yes, I walked alone to that mountain. Yes, I made choices I'll carry forever. But I never abandoned them. I walked ahead… to open the path behind me.

And you're right—we both wear blood. But the difference is: I remember every face. I remember their names. You erased yours from history the moment you crowned yourself god. You ruled with fear. I march with hope. You build walls of ice—I build bridges from flame. And when I fall, they won't tear my statue down. They'll carry me forward, because I am not the end of this story. I'm just the one who made sure it could be told.

Carry the faces of those who trusted you and died believing their suffering had purpose. You think they march for hope? No, Luigi. They march for revenge. Rage is not a revolution—it’s just fire in a different uniform. You call me tyrant—but I gave them order. I gave them purpose when the world fell apart. You? You gave them a cause to die for, dressed in banners and fanfare.

I know what’s coming. You kill me today, and you’ll wear my crown tomorrow. Maybe not actually, but the guilt will be there. Because they’ll come to you, crying for answers. For peace. For justice. Luigi stepped forward through the ice-laced wind, the glow of Arceus at his back casting long, flickering shadows across his face. He didn't flinch at Mantis's words—instead, he smiled. Calm. Cold. Certain.

"You still don't understand, Mantis. You never did. They didn't need a god. They needed a decision. And I made it. You call it fire in a different uniform. Maybe. But fire gives warmth. Fire brings light. And fire remembers. You froze the world in place—I made it move again. You ruled through fear. I lead through belief. And belief… well… Belief is just a sharper weapon."

Luigi raised the Master Ball. The air shimmered with divine power. Arceus appeared again, quiet, almost obedient.

"You think I'll become you. That I'll be the next shadow cast over Pan-UUem. Maybe that's your final hope—that history will repeat. But I'm not here to repeat history, Mantis. I'm here to write it. The 8 districts behind me, they will finish the job. Once the fighting has ensued with them, Arceus will gain power. Your reign will end, and I will be the new savior. Not you, not Arceus, but me. I shall save Pan-UUem. Districts unite and fight!"
