Victreebel @ Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade
- Sucker Punch
- Sleep Powder / Return
This Pitcher Trap is one of DPP PU's most threatening wallbreakers thanks to its high Attack; strong STAB combination, allowing it to threaten most of the tier with notable targets like Relicanth and Rhydon; and useful utility options like Sleep Powder and Sucker Punch! With Sucker Punch, Victreebel can circumvent its somewhat middling Speed stat to revenge kill faster foes like Zangoose while also providing coverage against Pokemon like Choice Scarf Misdreavus and Xatu. Sleep Power provides Victreebel with utility, helping it cripple switch-ins and checks such as Muk and Torkoal while also allowing it to safely use Swords Dance more often. Alternatively, Return can deal with Grass- and Poison-types at the cost of utility. Victreebel does not have a reliable Poison-type STAB option, making opposing Grass-types like Bellossom and Tangela difficult to deal without Return. As such, counters to these walls such as Magmar, Muk, and Choice Band Pinsir are useful partners to have. Victreebel is relatively frail and slow, so having pivots such as Monferno and Purugly that can get it in safely to set up against Pokemon like Ampharos are solid partners.
