Alomomola @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Flip Turn
- Knock Off
- Mirror Coat
- Scald / Liquidation
Unlike the Mola mola that seems to drift aimlessly, Alomomola flips in and out of the battlefield! With its newfound Special Defense from Assault Vest, it checks special attackers like Gholdengo, Mega Charizard Y, Terapagos, and Tapu Lele. Flip Turn lets Alomomola safely bring in teammates like Mega Latios and Kingambit. Knock Off punishes switch-ins like Toxapex and Galarian Slowking by removing their Heavy-Duty Boots. Mirror Coat allows Alomomola to capitalize on its high HP and special bulk to grab a surprise KO on the aforementioned special attackers plus others like Tapu Koko. Scald's burn keeps physical attackers like Mega Scizor and Dragonite at bay and hinders walls like Ferrothorn, while Liquidation allows Alomomola to win its duel against Substitute Volcarona. Gholdengo pairs well with Alomomola, as Alomomola handles Fire- and Ground-types like Mega Charizard Y and Great Tusk and shuts down threats like Kingambit with burns. In return, Gholdengo provides a safe switch-in against Toxic and defeats walls like Toxapex and Ferrothorn. Alomomola struggles against Grass-types like Ogerpon-W and most Electric-types like Raging Bolt, making allied checks like Pecharunt and Ting-Lu valuable.
