NOC E.G.O Wielders Mafia - A 17P Role Madness (Game Thread) - MAFIA WIN

oh boy i love sleeping and waking up to 10 new pages :)))))
i don't see the point of voting d1, preferably i'd like to wait until we have good info from investigative roles but i haven't really gotten the full grasp of the situation so i'll think back on that once i'm done reading. also someone needs to give me a list of mafia terms in here since this is my first time, 10% of these posts i have no idea what they're abt
sigh

we should always voted d1 bc no one is gonna claim there roles bc that's not a good idea early game. Therefore, we can find out info from the votecounts of d1. Even sometimes, though this is rare, we as town can lynch one of the mafia if they slip

OK honestly i was planning to start posting tomorrow morning but my calendar is actually busy as fuck so let's just go for it now. I'm going to start by setting expectations.

This is going to be a fun game for me. The last time I was town was a full year ago in small street where I was trying to make it to day 2 and got obviously did not achieve that objective. And then the time before that was in 2023 when people really did not give me a shot since I just came off a big scumgame and I don't think anyone really cared to try to trust my alignment. So legitimately it's probably been close to 3 years since I've last actually played town.

Judging by what's been said in this thread already, I'll not be playing the way people expect me to play this game.

I'm going to focus more on developing reads than leading wagons. I honestly don't expect myself to have very good reads this game -- it's been so long since I've sat down and tried to figure out alignments. So I'll not be leading wagons because I'm not sure about the accuracy of my high confidence reads, if they even exist.

The one kind of philosophy I'm continuing to believe in is that being transparent with my thoughts puts me at a disadvantage. If I say, "Oh, X is not posting the way I expect them to, that's weird", then I can't really use that expectation or read for the rest of the game because X now knows that they are being observed for a certain kind of behavior. So I won't be sharing 90% of the thoughts that I'm having. I'll share thoughts and read processes when I feel like I've had all the pieces of the puzzle to determine someone's alignment and I want to be convincing rather than investigating.

So it'll be frustrating for people to get a read on me this game, I'm sure. I expect to be in the null section of the reads list for most of the game. I'm fine with that. I'll be playing my game and trying to be useful to my team in ways that make sense to me.

With that out of the way, I've been more or less fine with how day 1 is progressing. I do have early thoughts on alignments, honestly more than I would have thought at this stage, but I'm still working on them so they won't be shared.

Is there any interest in this slot?

I think Flandrs wouldnt be seeking conflicts as scum? We did have a conflict in JALMONT mafia. Also I wouldnt personally frame his interactions with me as seeing a conflict so far. you could say hes being performative as scum maybe. But I dont really see it as alignment indicative so far.
Noted tyvm. I was approaching it not really from a starting conflict pov but as potentially trying to start the first vote on you. Though again with what the reasoning was, I don’t think people bite? I’m just struggling to understand why he held that up as genuine criticism and continued to do so when i asked him to do it in the context of wis’ player tier list being bad

Fuck that's like 9 more pages to sheet...
Might as well get this thought out that I had a few hours ago (was too tired to be bothered posting it then).

This reads like it was ran through scumchat before posting it to the thread proper.
Like, it just felt peer-reviewed to some extent.

I don't feel it as strongly now since it's been a few hours and I've wound up taking a nap and playing a bit of VSH, so my brain's not actively on that line of thought anymore, but that's moreso a mental state thing than a reads thing.

Anyways, I'll start catching up about now.
ive never done this and i will never do this and whats the point of softing the fucking read in the first place if you think I had to run it by scummates who probably can’t pin down my meta to any reasonable degree

love that i just summoned you into the thread

im gonna be real celever is a black box to me, kind of like tommy. i kinda just read him by evaluating his motivation later on in the game. i might read him more closely later but yeah he's not really a slot i can read with any confidence

re:celever vote I’m interested in that I think celever’s really not been proactive wrt solving and positioning wise theyre in the spot that no vote really has people putting focus on celever so much as other people (mostly me tbh).

However I don’t understand why celever’s interactions with fairy happen as a wolf, like what’s that accomplishing? As town its got the barely allowable “seeing what happens when theyre mad” element but as scum? I feel like there are so many better things to be done w one’s time.

the one thing that honestly is kinda throwing me off is apricity saying "so I'll not be leading wagons because I'm not sure about the accuracy of my high confidence reads, if they even exist." apricity I'm curious what your motivation is in saying that and following it up with a vote with no explanation? Are you just worried people are still going to sheep you and don't want that to happen?

I went back and reread starting from page 7. I think the most interesting things that happened were wisteria's interactions with CK and fairy with Celever. What I didn't like about wisteria's 146 was the "mildly annoying" comment at the end which felt like trying to apologize in a way for having reads which could be seen as opportunistic. And Wisteria started by putting me as maybe town then calling NE a mindmeld(??) which felt a bit stilted to me. Then Wisteria is also townreading Celever, who is another big voice in the thread. It does paint a picture of being a bit opportunistic with reads, especially the NE one felt forced to me. I also didn't like Wisteria referring to themselves as "my slot" at one point. Could be a playstyle diff but to me it reads like trying to distance oneself from a (scum) role.

ImaginaryNeon: Im null on this slot but duly noted Flandrs point about how Neon behaved in TOS-1 and how his posting here could be compared to that. I haven't seen a neon game in a while and I do agree with the general vibe of promoting townie behavior and not voting someone for townie behavior because its perhaps a meta tell for them.. Will see how his reads develop.

A Fairy is playing a bit more aggro than I would normally expect respect regardless of alignment so Im not quite sure what to make of that. I really doubt the fairy/Celever interactions are S/S. I definitely townread Cele regardless, but I just dont see them going at each other over the Flandrs interactions as S/S to be very likely. Fairy's posts do ping me in a general sense but that could also be a playstyle difference. I dont like downplaying the validity of D1 but I think that is fairly normal thing for fairy to do.

Skipper is scummy. I see a lot of fluff and not much content. Skipper actually had pretty darn on point reads in other games and this feels like Skipper is more focused on appearing interactive. Like #203 asking Celever if he should OMGUS him rubs me wrong. Why ask that instead of engaging Celever on the read. Seems maybe like scum trying to shrug off pressure before it begins.

DBD is town. DBD is honestly pretty easy to read, I think its night and day and borderline a "trust" tell at this point. DBD who isn't taking the game all too seriously is town. Scum DBD is transparent. This is town DBD. If DBD is scum here then his scumgame has evolved a LOT since Galactic and Small Street.

Flandrs frustration does seem town(?) to me here. I think its more likely than from scum. I actually disagree with Celever I dont know if making Flandrs mad will make him easier to read. His objection to ragebait is noted and I get it. Im not sure about this read but gun to my head Flandrs is town here.

Chemdah is someone I would like to look more into. So far his content has been some flavor spec and mostly being a wallflower. Flavor spec isnt inherently scummy, but I could certainly see him being scum and trying to post enough to appear useful without rocking the boat too much. Its not a lot to go off of, but I really wouldnt be surprised to see him flip mafia.

Evie. I do agree with Cele that people (mostly AF I guess) coming out of the woodwork to defend Evie was odd. Im null on Evie but interactions around Evie may be interesting down the line.

NE: Lean town. In the Wisteria interaction, I'd say its more likely he is the target of being pocketed. Im interested in his reread on CK (did I miss it?). CK was a townread for me but he has been less active since so Im less sure of it. NE and Apricity both stated they would be taking a backseat for now so it is what it is. I'd like to hear why NE is townreading Neon as well. Overall I think NE has been engaging with people in a fairly proactive (town) way.

Joey, Apricity, Des121, M2H, Pulsar don't know

I really wish Des would post anything at all other than a question about my vote on her.
