Notable Performances​

Many pokemon of the tournament appear to have been overpriced judging by their usage/performance, the most notable examples of over/underperforming I decided to include here

:raging bolt:
The clear top pokemon of the tournament, bolt ended up being brought the most of any pokemon in the tournament by a decent margin and maintained a solid winrate.

:chien-pao: :ogerpon-hearthflame:
By far the two worst performing 20 point pokemon by winrate, both of these pokemon appear to have failed to find success by their users. With these two as the most offensive 20 point pieces and the stellar performances of Iron hands and bolt, it seems fairly clear that bulkier structures were more dominant with the current board. Hopefully with some price adjustments these guys' favorite partners get to see some more action/value and these structures can shine.

:sinistcha:
Usage split between its forms hides the greater picture of a sleeping terror in this draft board. Sinistcha's true usage was:

A clear candidate for a price rise with an excellent performance on both rain and snow teams in this tournament and a major factor in the success of bulkier structures.

One of the more controversial archetypes in the tournament, rain sported a solid performance from arch and a mixed bag from some of its primary pieces.

Well-built/piloted rain does indeed appear to be very strong however this to me at least appears to be on the oweness of very strong support pieces being highly accessible and certain other pieces on successful rain drafts like sinistcha. Overqwil in particular had a fantastic performance this tournament. Definitely worth keeping an eye on into the next iteration of the draft board

:landorus-therian: | 15 | Landorus-Therian | 18 | 8.49% | 72.22% |
Lando-t had a very interesting tournament, only being drafted onto weather structures (one of rain, snow and sun) and performing excellently on all of them. Going into this tournament I expected landorus to be a little displaced without its favorite flutter structures to pair with and lando-i being so dominant in DOU more generally but I appear to have been proven wrong by the goat.

This guy had a very rough tournament, only being drafted onto 2 rain teams and a diancie core, all of which underperformed. Definitely deserves a point drop to become a more attractive pick for stronger teams compared to sinistcha.

:manaphy: | 30 | Manaphy | 13 | 6.13% | 76.92% |
manaphy had an incredible tour, vastly outperforming its contemporary in primarina and making great use of the extra time it had to set up in a lower power level than dou/vgc draft. No small feat for a pokemon rated 15 points, especially compared to primarina's performance which only managed a 40% winrate and less games played. Notably, Keldeo also had a solid run as an 11 point water type, seeing as much usage as manaphy and going 8-6, showcasing that the water mythicals have added good depth to the available roster of water types and probably indicating the need to reconsider the prices of some of the other available waters such as the underperforming palafin and primarina.

Indeedee male going entirely undrafted and poor performances from the other psyspam mainstays, this clearly was not a good tournament for the archetype, not being able to match some of the stronger teams that mostly won off solid typings and utility. Deoxys-normal and necrozma went entirely undrafted at 19 points-both hoopa forms were drafted but failed to see usage on psyspam-indicating a wider trend of psyspam being overpriced compared to its strength in vgc draft despite access to very strong and varied mythical expanding force users.

:tatsugiri: | 91 | Tatsugiri | 7 | 3.30% | 14.28% |
With only two actual drafts and a very poor performance record, dozogiri turned out to be all bark no bite in this tournament. Stronger, more appealing playstyles prevailed and counterplay to the actual strategy seems abundant especially in a 6v6 format where setup pokemon are much more prevalent as win conditions. Definitely one of the largest underperformances given the talk surrounding it during the draft.

:glimmora: :ting-lu:

Hazards-based strategies failed to make too much of a splash in this tournament, giving way to less committal rockers such as deoxys-speed, landorus and tinkatuff/ton. In retrospect 17 points is a bit steep for glimmora and ting-lu joins a long list of 15 point pokemon including scream tail, darkrai and baxcalibur that clearly weren't cut to snuff for their price tags.

A very enlightening tournament, going forward I can say that I personally will at least be looking to cut down prices on a lot of upper-midrange pokemon and reconsidering what tools are actually valuable in the format.
