Introduction

As a former (now banned) forum mainer, I received much hate for being perceived as a hardstuck 1500. And for a long time, I was. But after I lost 1-3 to DaddyBuzzwole in a fight night, I realized I had to change. I realized I had to become the greatest of all time. Though I am still hilariously bad at Pokemon, I knew I had to be better than a mere 1600, and so I decided to turn an old :Blaziken: webs team I built a while ago into the best webs team out there right now.

Teambuilding Process

I originally started off with a classic :Blaziken: webs:

:Araquanid: :Gholdengo: :Blaziken: :Iron Valiant: :Raging Bolt: :Roaring Moon:

Then, I dropped :Blaziken: after Sire Clod kept 6-0ing me with lead Toxic Spikes :Toxapex:.

:Araquanid: :Gholdengo: :Iron Moth: :Iron Valiant: :Raging Bolt: :Roaring Moon:

I also decided to make a lot of minor changes in the months that followed, such as adding Lunge on :Araquanid: to beat :Ogerpon-Wellspring:, :Dragonite:, and :Roaring Moon:, as well as making :Raging Bolt: Thunderbolt over Discharge to improve my calcs, and finally, dropping Dazzling Gleam for Make it Rain on my :Gholdengo: so I wasn’t immediately 6-0ed by Showdownfail’s team. I also changed a bunch of Tera types recently.

:Araquanid: :Gholdengo: :Iron Moth: :Iron Valiant: :Raging Bolt: :Roaring Moon:

Finally, recently, I decided to drop :Roaring Moon: (right before its suspect) as I found the team was much more consistent with a classic Air Balloon :Kingambit: to help in the midgame.

:Araquanid: :Gholdengo: :Iron Moth: :Iron Valiant: :Raging Bolt: :Kingambit:

Team Members

:Araquanid:

QUIL (Araquanid) (F) @ Custap Berry

Ability: Water Bubble

Tera Type: Ghost

EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 124 Def / 4 SpA / 112 SpD / 8 Spe

Sassy Nature

- Surf

- Lunge

- Endeavor

- Sticky Web

As the star of the show and the single best webs setter SV OU has ever seen, :Araquanid: bursts into the scene with a brand new spread I cooked up as of late. EVs in every stat, with relevant calcs for all of them to boot. This spread does the following all in one:

-survives :Raging Bolt: Protosynthesis Thunderbolt

-survives two Adamant Ceaseless Edges from :Samurott-Hisui:

-2KOs 4 SpD :Great Tusk: (yes, 4 EVs are necessary)

-2KOs bulkless :Ogerpon-Wellspring: with Lunge (yes, 4 EVs are necessary)

-underspeeds all :Alomomola:

-outspeeds slightly invested :Garganacl: (0 EVs and a Sassy nature causes a tie)

All of these optimisations have lead to :Araquanid: being better than ever, overtaking :Ribombee: by miles and proving it has always been the best webs setter. In fact, this Pokemon is so solid right now I don’t even need to explain the moves to you. You’ve all seen what this Pokemon does, and it will maintain its strength for the rest of the generation. Webs forever.

This Pokemon is named after my good rat Aquilo, also known as “Quil”.

:Gholdengo:

TREE? (Gholdengo) @ Air Balloon

Ability: Good as Gold

Tera Type: Flying

EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Timid Nature

IVs: 0 Atk

- Nasty Plot

- Shadow Ball

- Psyshock

- Make It Rain

:Gholdengo: is the most classic Sticky Web spinblocker, and while :Pecharunt: and :Ceruledge: are solid options on many teams right now, I think :Gholdengo: is the best for my team as a fatbreaker and general progress-maker. I decided on a Tera Flying Make it Rain set to piss off Scarf :Landorus-Therian:, with Psyshock + Make it Rain to consistently force Tera on :Clodsire: and :Blissey: against stall teams, which :Iron Moth: and :Iron Valiant: can punish.

Due to this Pokemon, not only can I spinblock reliably without burning Tera, but I can also consistently break stall (I am positive into both SupaGMoney and aabbbee, two top stall players right now, due to the power of Psyshock :Gholdengo: as well as other deadly special threats.)

This Pokemon is named after my good enemy Tree69420, who didn’t believe in me the entire way through. Thank you for your hating in my times of need.

:Iron Moth:

CALA (Iron Moth) @ Booster Energy

Ability: Quark Drive

Tera Type: Grass

EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Timid Nature

IVs: 0 Atk

- Fiery Dance

- Sludge Wave

- Energy Ball

- Substitute

:Iron Moth:, the RNG machine. On this team, :Iron Moth: mainly functions as a special wincon and early-game breaker that helps hurt :Ting-Lu: and :Slowking-Galar: while also discouraging :Ninetales-Alola: and :Hatterene: from leading. It can also break :Blissey: against stall teams if needed with a timely crit or good Fiery Dance RNG.

I decided on Tera Grass Energy Ball on this team so I could Substitute against Toxic + EQ :Clodsire: or :Gliscor:, as well as hit :Garganacl: and :Alomomola:, something most :Iron Moth: users don’t opt for. I think this is the best :Iron Moth: set for webs right now, as it helps deal with a lot of otherwise problematic Pokemon for the archetype, especially Assault Vest :Alomomola:, Tera Water :Garganacl:, etc, as well as having a decent amount of surprise value.

It's imperative that this Pokemon always clicks Substitute against :Kingambit: because it has neither Tera Fairy nor any physical bulk to stomach the hit. Winning the 1v1 is in your favour, however, so don't worry. Also, I would always recommend leading this guy against veil teams.

This Pokemon is named after Cala, the Slither GOAT. Munch on.

:Iron Valiant:

QUZZ (Iron Valiant) @ Booster Energy

Ability: Quark Drive

Tera Type: Ghost

EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Modest Nature

- Moonblast

- Vacuum Wave

- Calm Mind

- Shadow Ball

The glue of this team's special core. :Iron Valiant: is mainly used for cleaning up Darkspam teams, revenging :Kingambit:, and sweeping. Tera Ghost is to revenge kill :Dragonite: as well as dealing more damage to :Gholdengo:, :Pecharunt:, :Slowking-Galar:, and :Iron Crown: with Shadow Ball. Vacuum Wave is to OHKO :Kingambit: and :Weavile:, as otherwise those Pokemon would become very annoying.

This set is pretty typical on a webs team, allowing you to clean easily once :Iron Moth: and :Gholdengo: have broken specific walls like :Slowking-Galar:. Not much there to be said other than the fact this set is slower than :Ogerpon-Wellspring: without webs and slower than :Deoxys-Speed: after webs, so be careful and don’t sack her to random shit.

This Pokemon is named after GirlQuacc, also known as the trans bitch everyone fw.

:Raging Bolt:

DELI (Raging Bolt) @ Booster Energy

Ability: Protosynthesis

Tera Type: Ghost

EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Modest Nature

IVs: 20 Atk

- Thunderclap

- Thunderbolt

- Calm Mind

- Dragon Pulse

Standard :Raging Bolt:. This Pokemon sweeps lategame and can break early and midgame. Good at chipping :Ting-Lu: and being an extremely good win condition against offense and hyper-offense teams once webs go up. It’s also a good revenge killer and :Ogerpon-Wellspring: switch-in, so it also performs vital defensive roles on top of that.

Tera Ghost is extremely useful as it absolutely farms mono-toss :Blissey: stall teams like aabbbee's famous squad. It also allows you to beat Swords Dance Facade :Gliscor: and Extreme Speed :Dragonite:. Otherwise, this :Raging Bolt: is extremely similar to most others.

This Pokemon is named after Delibird “Kill Yourself” Heart, as it’s really fucking ugly.

:Kingambit:

SUPA (Kingambit) (F) @ Air Balloon

Ability: Supreme Overlord

Tera Type: Fire

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Jolly Nature

- Sucker Punch

- Iron Head

- Swords Dance

- Kowtow Cleave

This Pokemon was the newest addition to the squad, replacing :Roaring Moon: just before its ban and improving the team significantly. I decided with a standard Air Balloon set to take on Scarf :Landorus-Therian: and give you a way to semi-handle other Ground-types.

Tera Fire is to farm Will-o-Wisp :Darkrai: and :Dragapult:, using them as setup fodder. It also annoys :Moltres: and :Cinderace: a lot who try to click Fire-types moves on you and are promptly assassinated by +2 Kowtow Cleave. Tera Flying is useful for the same reason as :Gholdengo: and can also be used if you don’t really care about those Pokemon.

Jolly :kingambit: is fantastic at flinching :Great Tusk:, Tera Dark :Pecharunt: and other “checks”, as after webs it hits an insane 327 speed, which is devastating when coupled with its 30% flinch Iron Head. This means it can cheese through a ton of squads who otherwise beat it.

This Pokemon is generally used for breaking and defensive utility rather than endgame sweeping, although it can still do that if the matchup is right (ie, 200 Speed :Corviknight: and :Ting-Lu: being their only checks). It can also beat stall if it flinches :Dondozo: with Iron Head.

SupaGMoneythegeneral deserves a mention. He's the stall GOAT and has been the Kingambgod since before Jesus was born.

Replays

I tried to obtain replays exclusively against the best OU players out there. While I didn’t obtain as many as I wanted due to the limited playerbase on the currently-dead ladder, I did manage to save quite a few against some top players, including Fusien, aabbbee, and SupaGMoney.

VS Hyper Offense

:Araquanid: + :Enamorus: VS Duckular

:Deoxys-Speed: + :dragonite: VS Storm Zone

VS Offense

:Enamorus: + :Lokix: VS wamko is balls

:Landorus-Therian: + :Heatran: VS dsbelieving

:Cinderace: + :Thundurus-Therian: VS Omari P

VS Balance

:Weezing-Galar: + :Tornadus-Therian: VS Fusien

:Moltres: + :Garganacl: VS metallowires

:drifblim: + :slowking: VS Pinkacross

VS Stall

:Weezing-Galar: + :Corviknight: VS aabbbee

:Quagsire: + :Toxapex: VS SupaGMoney

Threats

I’d be so bold as to say Zodiac Webs is the single best webs team out there right now, but of course its inherently fishy nature leads to polarized matchups.

  • :Ogerpon-Wellspring: speed ties or outspeeds the whole team, can get iffy.
  • :Lokix: can win a sack war if :Iron Valiant: and :Gholdengo: and chipped.
  • Choice Band :Dragapult: wins against webs. This is a known fact. Fuck that guy.
  • :Cinderace: is pretty obvious, as it disallows you from setting webs which is bad.
  • :Clodsire: is scary because it walls half of the team and can win if too many guys die.
  • Tera Water :Garganacl: can do the same although it’s not as bad with :Raging Bolt:.
  • :Toxapex: is similar to :Clodsire: and :Garganacl:, walling :Iron Moth: and :Iron Valiant:.
  • Unknown Tera :Dragonite: is scary, as it can randomly pull out a Tera and just win.
  • :Hatterene: denies webs and therefore has a great MU when paired with other guys.
  • Boots :Zamazenta: can pose issues if not quickly chipped as well, though not too bad.

Credits

I'd like to thank Stallcord. And my friends there. You're my goats, thanks for letting me write The Stall Bible and be part of that community. You're real ones for that and I've credited many of you with the Pokemon names. I'd also like to thank some people I didn't mention in the RMT, Storm Zone, Pinkstork, and Duckular especially. You're goats as well and helped me a ton on this journey, so thanks for that. Couldn’t have done it without you.

Some people I would also like to mention:

-Showdownfail

-Waffle

-Ausma

-Duckycrater

-Quacklord

-Sire Clod

-Character

-all my other goats

To get a bit more personal, this team changed me. Before this team, my peak was 1795, something I pushed 230 elo. Even now, my peak without webs is just above 1900, something I intend to shatter in the near future. This team proved that I could do it, that I could make it in the Pokemon sphere. I am good enough, those who doubted were wrong.

Listen to me if you’re hardstuck 1600s. I was there too. Keep trying if you really do care about this game. You can do it. Believe in yourself, as if you try hard enough, spam enough games, work your ass off, you CAN do it. I was a forum mainer once.

One last word to everyone who even dares to try this team: don't spam this team on ladder, it's a miserable time, as all fishy teams are. Bring it if you want a solid webs fish or want free reqs on the next suspect. That’s all, good fucking night. -Raine <3

cant help but notice both stall replays feature blissey getting crit...

jokes aside grats on peak, honored to be araquanid's namesake

Man, I recover the pasword of my old account only for rep you, awesome team, I love it bc its very fun and versatile (I hate stall playstyle).

The araquanid its a beast, players underestimate that moon and they ended surprised with -1 mon in his team.

Any tips to beat rain teams?

Keep araq somewhat healthy to take skewda hits in a pinch, bolt + gambit/Val should always win though since treads gets overwhelmed & triple prio is hard to deal with for rain
