SSNDPL I Set & Team Dump is here to serve as an opportunity to post whatever anyone has used so far! It's pretty self explanatory, post teams you used or built in SSNDPL I here!

Rules

This is for teams used in, or heavily considered for use, in SSNDPL I ONLY.
A Pokepaste would be preferred in terms of formatting. Sprites would also be a helpful addition.
Descriptions/stories about the teams are allowed (encouraged, even) but consider using a spoiler tag if they end up being very long.
These teams may be considered to be used as Sample Teams so no need to post in the bazaar as well.

Now that our tournament is over I can share the teams I have used throughout, whether these are suitable for samples or whatever idfk. May not be able to go too in depth with the building process, I have a pretty poor memory so if there wasn't any logs/logs didn't go in depth I won't have much to go off of and I'm rlly lazy.

Week 1 vs 3MoreMinutes (L)

I really don't remember the thought process here, this is like the only log I have for this team lol.

Game was pretty much thrown turn 1 by not clicking tect turn 1, matchup wasn't that bad beyond me having to be careful against Meteor Beam Nihilego, which would 6-0 as soon as scizor died.

Week 2 vs Iride (W)

Azelf and Shifu looked great in conjunction and Mandibuzz was a nice answer to the large Aegi usage she had, Mega Steelix was only really there cause I was super scared of Nihilego after last week and I added my own Nihi, which would deal with flying types because Mega Steelix isn't a reliable flying resist and provide a rocker so I can run curse/toxic on Mega lix, Amoonguss was the obligatory Urshifu answer. The game started really poorly with me losing another mon turn 1 but I managed to salvage it somewhat by catching Sciz on the switch with Azelf. Definitely got rather lucky with the 2 turn sleep, should have preserved Mandibuzz and/or kept Azelf's Z move for the Salamence endgame with it having a chance to kill depending on Salamence's spread but I was still glad to get a win on the board

Week 3 vs SpaceSpeakers (L)

This week was definitely messy, I struggled a ton with what I wanted to bring so Sanguine ended up just making a 6 for me. CB nite caught me by surprise, essentially rendering my Rotom useless turn 1, I think I fucked around too much after burning Dnite and should have gone Hippo and gotten rocks up, definitely should have also just stayed in vs primarina with Steela, Scald isn't very likely regardless if they have it or not and it left me with a huge mountain to climb after losing 2 mons, especially amoonguss which was my buzzwole and rotom answer.

Week 4 vs JeoZ (W)

Iride gave me the idea to run Celesteela + Roserade fat and Scizor seemed like a good set up wincon, zeraora for speed control and knock off and Hippowdown the electric answer + rocker and Mega Altaria provided cleric support and a Urshifu answer, though Urshifu and Keld tear this team apart, CM water/fight Z keldespecially just 6-0es but idk if anyone uses that. The opp's team was really interesting to say the least, matchup was fairly linear after I caught the Bulu's Z move with Hippo.

Week 5 vs Dunoks (W)

I was traveling or something this week, I think? so I wanted to rfn to avoid scheduling complications or something, but I immidiatley had the idea to run AV glowbro which looked insane in the scout, Keld + Bisharp was a nice offensive core, Zeraora speed control, Salamence as the fogger and Urshifu pivot and Rhyperior as the rocker and flying resist, etc. I think you could just slap on Z glowbro, it's better in the bisharp matchup and would have been great in this matchup as well. I think I played fine until about turn 30 maybe, then I started being reactive when I could have easily just taken a knock off vs Zeraora with glowbro and sludged it, which I would have to do eventually. It ended with me having to hard bisharp on Zeraora Volt Switch so I have more health when I sack Bisharp later.

Week 6 vs Mada (W)

Molly and I were like, "yea DD Mence looks crazy here" every week and I always end up changing my mind, so I'd had decided to finally bring it. Turn 1 was the only time I had to think of the turn and I opted to rocks and not taunt since I went through this exact situation vs Micaiah a few months earlier and it basically won me the game with them going hard Moltres instead of Altaria, allowing me to get +2 and kill Mega Altaria with rocks up.

Week 7 vs R1C3M4N (L)

Probably the lowest I've felt in terms of mons this tour, I struggled all week with motivation to find ideas to build with and I ended up just editing a team 3MoreMinutes used in money tour like right before the game. The game was fairly winnable in spite of the first few turns not going great, but then after I got the CM vs I realized I was Secret Sword and not Focus Blast, which may not have mattered depending on the roll/ Celesteela spread but tilted me pretty hard. Then I make the passive play a few turns in a row and get my Salamence pursuited by Bisharp on a nice pivot by my opp, definitely played the endgame poorly with sacking half of roserade's hp and basically a whole mence. It was very disappointing to lose in such a manner with a pretty favorable match up in my opinion.

Going 4-3 feels surprisingly disappointing despite going positive being my goal before the tour I definitely should have done better in certain weeks, but regardless there's always room to improve. Shoutout Mollymiltoast and sanguine for drafting me and helping with prep you guys always offered valuable insight. Thanks as well to my teammates and Mamoo, enjoyed interacting with you guys despite how the tour ended. Shoutout Iride for all the help and tests throughout the season and anyone else who has showed support through dms and whatnot. also thank you 3MoreMinutes for putting in a good word... I think.

I wanted to use cm koko after kate used it vs me in wc. It destroys a lot of bo, especially stuff that rely on weavile as speed control. I think my prep was just to make sure i had good outs vs offense because oculars usually uses more agressive teams.

I honestly didnt know what kayzn would bring, but this old team of mine is kinda all purpose and relies on playing well over fishing a mu.

I got smashed this game and played like a 1200 but i actually rly like this team a lot. Realistically i should have won with latias and scarflando. Its a pretty standard water / fire / grass that is kinda a mix of ss/sm balance.

I built this team specifically for devin. He usually farms people with offense so I opted for the mlop / una clef/ tspike combo with pory wincon. The team is pretty ugly and loses to a bunch of other stuff.

I got beat pretty bad by stareal in wc so I was really excited to play them here. I made this team also specifically for stareal. I wanted to use a strong a defensive core along with draining kiss lele. It came down to a couple 50 / 50s with thunder clef but i ended up getting them right and taking the w.

I made this team not for 0ne last kiss specifically but during the week. I wanted to try aegi out since kdca and isza have had a lot of success with it. I just thought that these 6 looked super nasty and went with it lol. Unfortunately I was not going to beat taunt cosmic power mew here unless I stayed in with my gliscor on his ditto and attacked on the switch but yeah.

Shoutout everyone in the freewind riders, the energy was high and depsite losing everyone kept their heads high and almost made a nice comeback. I am overall happy with my results here and in WC. Had a really good time playing the tier I love again. Want to thank Murphy Lawden bumboclaat slopcat Dead by Daylight for doing a great job hosting and kDCA Boomenheimer setting the entire circuit up! GG

Xurkiyee was pretty cool for suggesting this one, Sput was well known for bringing offenses leaning towards the voltturn style throughout the gen, so a demon deo-d build with the addon of dual ground + hazards to shut down any attempts at volt switch answered this pretty nicely. Rest of the team was built around having as many potential outs to setup sweepers in conjunction with the hazards and worked despite looking strange.

Pannu had just been swapped in as a sub last minute so we weren't quite sure on what to go with ngl. Ultimately wanted to go with a future sight core with slowking with a fast cleaner like urshifu to tear through offense, and the team worked with some smart use of koko bailing us out against the potentially disastrous cm fini. I believe heatran > ferrothorn during the game was to better MU into non hp volcarona though I did eventually switch it to ferro to even an otherwise bad rain MU while considering it for other tours.

This was an interesting one, our oppo wasn't known as a tier main in particular though a pattern for breakers such as lele and prot gren gave me the idea to run aegislash, a mon I have constantly attempted to ride the hype train for but to no avail. also really liked how diancie fits on these types of balance/semistall builds in particular, probably the most dynamic breaker in this tier and really helped to make the otherwise lengthy pilot much less boring.

Hm Stall bruh — 17/6/2025, Nvm thats boring, Zobris rain famous last words on discord before we decided to lock in what I think is a pretty interesting take on rain. with scolipede being here to take advantage of frequent gliscor / clefable / ferro usage, check annoying grasses like rilla and kart lategame, while abusing rain and water z to overwhelm some of its steel counters more easily. game itself was fairly contentious at the start with a troublesome MU into band weav, but Xurk definitely read my mind and pulling through by abusing fini every turn and sweeping.

Highlight oppo for sure, LF was pretty well known across the community, and their creativity with several offense builds despite being more of a balance player was certainly inspiring. ended up recreating a seth team with band weavile > woger and the accompanying ferrogliscpex also being a g9 favourite, working out nicely to ensure we could safely scout most of the tier's breakers in that regard. I believe yonmd's endgame of stalling out terrain and going into weavile is played correctly, but unfortunately we came up just short due to the 50% ice shard roll against the unexpected mchomp. overall an exciting watch.

Week 5 -

Flames wanted to build off zapdos, I wanted to build hoopa, we put the two ideas together and landed on the above. Unfortunately rolled into magnet pull offense but would've probably been a lot closer if not for the shoddy early-game with zap ngl. Spdef lefties chomper is god.

An old timer and one of my friends from another timeline in adem gave me the idea to run 4a mtar, a breaker which I think is rather underexplored for its interesting defensive traits into most of the tier's psychics, terrain support also went a long way in allowing it to trade in spite of its biggest hindrance to statuses vs defensive pokes like toxapex and clefable. then on top of this is the evil serp set.

2nd time in the same week where we rolled into another oppo who hadn't previously played but if there was one thing I knew for sure it was that one of my idols in Kate was likely to be behind the build if played. Wanted to try out volcanion due to its similar blend of defensive traits turned defensive potential, despite not getting taunt this gen (given, toxic was still a decent substitute) I found the trapper set appealing for its stabs and ability to invite in and easily wear down common defensive pivots ie: fini toxapex latias and clefable. z dragonite also felt like such a smash hit in this regard due to the aggressive nature of this team preventing hazards and its innate ability to completely roll through offense once the defensive backbone was worn down enough, although I think espeed > fire punch was probably better for opposing weavile since the opposing corvs and ferros were easily overwhelmed to begin with. unfortunately all this theorising and enthiusiasm ended with another dg though :|.

HoodedZack certainly has a style, as SHSP would say. Had to cycle through a few options beforehand but I ultimately settled on a stall build with a volcarona wincon as per SHSP's suggestion, we both felt the current hazard control was pretty solid as long as we didn't run into a dedicated stallbreaker like ice punch ttar or z heatran, so heavy speed investment and bug z was specifically used to let volc flip MUs into some of zack's offensive threats. av tang also may look pretty strange, but was used to guard vs potential rain and stuff overeliant on pursuitting down chansy to function. while we didn't get completely robbed here the game did eventually boil down to hax with a potential setup angle on both sides, only for the crit on clef to kick in at the worst timing possible... bitter end to an enjoyable season of building as a whole.

UU Teams

Always liked SS NDUU despite the relatively skewed nature of the meta rn, as can be seen with the tier having standardized voltturn and ho though not to the extent that other techs and exceptions haven't found success elsewhere. As for me, between prepping for OMPL and my finals throughout June into growing builder frustration upon the transition into tours as a whole I was sort of creatively dead after W2. hydreigon is very likely a root issue and should probably be addressed should natdex ever move into pastgens tiering policy, otherwise there's other elements such as meteor beam spam and salamence for sure that could honestly be cause for concern but don't personally find myself criticising too highly for now. wasn't the greatest season for me either with a pretty mediocre 4-4 record and some clear mistakes here and there, but special shoutouts to mrfraud and SapoDaG30 for tolerating the bullshit and being fun people to chat with regarding ideas throughout this tour.

Toxinalpaca My Coman. Despite not being around much, you were still always there when it mattered most. I could not count on anyone else less to draft the team to get into playoffs and keep the streak going. Be sure to get into and win NDPL when it matters most boss!

Xurkiyee yonmd I think we may have been in it together all along, but learning to build SS NDOU was certainly a much more pleasant experience and I have you guys to appreciate for contributing to that experience. Keep on cooking with or without my builds as you wish.

Kayzn PugGod, sorry things didn't quite work out for you as much as you expected, but regardless it's clear you're very talented as a player and got around to some nice comebacks despite struggling in others. Those wins you had absolutely contributed to our playoffs spot and we couldn't have entrusted it to anyone else.

Uta The Clown I'll be honest when I say that your final record in Monotype does not reflect your overall potency whatsoever. You've clearly got an incredible mind for this tier and the upsets vs players like dorron and feen to back it up, and I'm sure you've only gotten positive reception from the tour as opposed to otherwise. Keep this up and you'll be at the top in no time.

salmonelephant I'm catching up on all RU prep I missed from your discord channel as I'm writing this; You and Sapo might be the most surprising RU duo I've seen in quite a while. Great job evening out your record from that 0-2 start, and being thus active in teambuilding is always a rare quality I enjoy. And also a special thanks for convincing me to keep going in UU when I was 1-3 aop during the tour :sob:

I won't lie here when I say me and Toxin were originally in shambles looking at this pool during the auction beforehand, so snagging someone we ended up paying less for than planned and watching you run tests day and night just to load the same triple cm arceus balance and win was amazing. tl;dr goat, probably our most valuable teamslot besides doubles. next time we draft you we'll be sure to not get mollywhopped while you're on the other side.

Akaru Kokuyo 29k Doublesman straight outta hell and 8-0 goat. Ngl Doubles is probably the most abstract format and absolutely something we needed someone foreign to decipher at all to have a chance, but you killed it this tour as you would across the entire site. Please, when possible, humble this dear thread with your innovations man.

SHSP Sorry for having you bench sit, but its clear to me that you would've been willing to put in just as much effort as anybody else to ensure we were on top of our game throughout the season. Appreciate that kind of loyalty, and nice work putting Zack on edge during the semis.

Flames Of Elixir You weren't on the original roster but special special thanks for coming along and supporting thoughout the tour regardless, it was especially felt in instances I wasn't around to support my teammates in NDOU, you got around to some pretty great teams and you and Kayzn certainly had a lot going together that I couldn't replicate at all as well. Your efforts were great and I hope to see you drafted in future teamtours :)

Despite not building much, I still would like to share what I built as SS ND is one of the tiers that I enjoy alot and I hope to share that experience with others as well.

vs Maxouille

We thought that M-Medicham is a good load for this week so I also thought that scarf Lele would be a cool partner for it as well since Medicham can be revenge killed pretty easily. Twave Bold rotom-w is also pretty good here on this team as well with ZardX suddenly picking up in usage and being able to threaten so much stuff naturally. Defog on Lando and Rocks are Heatran is also opens up a moveslot on rotom as well being pain split to switch in mmedi and lele more often and also provide some nessesary resists such as fairy and volt switch. Weavile is just there to round out the team and to pressure other things that would threaten the rest of the team like Volcarona and Protean Gren

vs Lameflame

We decided to load fat for this one mostly because I've used bo and ho for r1 of ss nd last chance. This was actually passed to me since I was subbed in pretty late and I couldn't think of something solid to use in time. After the match happened I decided to take some time to tweak it a bit (literally change one mon and tweak the sets to my liking lol). Original team had a slowbro at first but I felt like rain would always 6-0 the team most of the time so I just wanted something that could just one shot manaphy and has a good mu into balance/fat, that's where tapu koko came in (could run vswitch instead). I've also customized gliscor's ev spread to always beat zardx 1v1 (without rocks on ur side), toxapex is ev'ed to get 3hko by ash-gren dark pulse even if black sludge got knocked off, corviknight was ev'ed to get 3hko by mystical fire from diancie after seeing how big of a threat it was vs me (also with rocks off)

I'd also like to give a shoutout to Ryuji for drafting me and giving me a chance to play in this pl also for being a great mentor and builder and Insou for being a guy I can count on last second for a quick practice match

These were my favorite teams from the tour. Pretty simple structures here. Its very hard to not lose to Calm Mind Arceus in this tier.

This was a fantastic season, and its tough for it to come to an end in the way it did. Huge thanks to Boomenheimer for having me along as a co-Manager; this was a fantastic first team tour and I'm glad we could go so far.

Lameflame: I’m gonna be honest, we were originally not planning on drafting you but Oculars gave you a shoutout so we picked you up, and it was a great choice. Despite a rough start to the season you’ve played super well and brought a great atmosphere to the OU group, and have gotten important wins where it mattered. Super glad you were here for the ride.

HoodedZack: Our crown jewel. I’ve always seen your sick UU teams and wanted to see how you played elsewhere and you did not disappoint. Your process and teams are so cool, and it was great to have you on as our star OU player.

Oculars: I appreciate the work you put into the team despite the insane TZ difference that made it hard to ever do anything LOL. The flexibility you showed as well (almost as flexible as a Limber Ditto) is very appreciated and important to any team, and its been great watching you play.

LORD SAGIS: Idk why the spreadsheet had you as AG but glad to have you on. Rough season but thanks for coming for the ride boss.

3MoreMinutes: MY GOATTTTT. I love you bro, you the UU goat and just a whole vibe to play with. I don’t know how you manage to stay so even keel and chill all the time but the vibes you brought to the team were immaculate and the help you provided to others was invaluable. It also helped that you held down UU so I could focus on getting my ass beat in AG. Great having you on.

db: RU boss. This guy is killer in the builder and despite some bad luck throughout the season he never faltered in the MUs.

Dorron: UGH I am so glad we had you Dorron. IDK how you do it bro but winning multiple bad MUs in Mono is a skill I wish I had. This guy is fr a silent killer just drops in couple days before with a goated team and then wins. Amazing stuff.

Seo.: I know it was hard being stuck behind such a goated Mono player but you are also a great player in your own right. The support you provided was pivotal in ensuring Dorron could succeed and we are really happy that you were on the team.

eragon and shadekirby321: I’m throwing you both in here because to be honest I had no clue what the fuck was happening in Doubles all season . You guys are the goats and really held it down the whole time, it was also hella funny to see us abuse some broken shit before it immediately got banned. Sorry we didn’t interact more, but it was great to have you guys on the team.

GOATED im_m0rtal.: Holy crap dude the amount of work you put in was crazy. Literally everyone in the server super appreciated your scouts and tests, and you were a huge part of the vibe being good. Really appreciate everything you did this season, and looking forward to drafting you in the future.

nongyboii5000: You and mortal fr carried our team in terms of scouts and suggested teamstyles. I really appreciate how on top of things you are despite other commitments and the scouts were invaluable in our victories throughout the weeks. Hey everyone – I'm sharing some of the teams I used during ssndpl, along with some analysis of how each game went and my general thought process during prep each week. I played every week of this tournament, gave everything I had each week to prepare, asked for the toughest possible OU opponent assignments whenever I could get the matchups, and played the games to the best of my ability. So while it's always dissatisfying to lose, especially for the first time in the finals, there's very little I would do differently and I will let the rest of my body of work speak for itself.

Week 1 vs Sputnik (L)

If you follow SS then you have probably seen this team originally created by Devin countless times. Going into this week our thought process as a team was to prepare for something closer to Molly’s scout, which at that point in time was a little weak to Mega Manectric based on the heavy slow Lando + Ferro/non-AV Melm + bulky water structures he had been using, and we assumed Sputnik may be passed something similar. The team features a really potent volt-turn core that can break down fat with CB Urshifu plus Kart if you pilot it aggressively, which I am generally comfortable doing. I expected Aegislash as I know Sputnik has built several teams with it and likes the mon (I like it as well), but Diancie proved to be a bit too overwhelming as my Urshifu wasn’t scarf and I had no way to defensively contain it barring a 1v1 trade with Lando.

For the game itself, the two things I could have done differently here were to preserve Lele a bit longer since speed was probably more valuable than Kart’s health (although scarf Lando EQ was also an issue), or in hindsight I could have EQ'd the Diancie when it was left in early game vs Lando (although I really did not think it would be left in given its value, but it worked out so credit to him for the play). This matchup was always going to be difficult with Diancie even if Manec was difficult on his end, but it was an otherwise clean game.

Week 2 vs Airi (L)

I had only played Airi once in SV before and never in SS, so I didn’t have as much immediate familiarity with their SS gameplay or team preferences. Based on our team's prep, we were expecting an offense build similar to a couple of the Lop + Z Gren sample teams that they had loaded and reused throughout a few prior tours. I opted to go for a more SS OU style Beat Up offense team featuring Mega Lop + Beat Up Weavile for consistent speed control surrounded by bulky hitters that would be difficult for a standard offense to overwhelm.

Really loved this team and I think it has outs against a ton of common threats in the SS meta at the moment. Unfortunately I loaded into a really well-rounded BO, again featuring Diancie with Rillaboom + Zapdos posing their own issues for the team. I played the early game well until Turn 17, and although I had a shot without the Zapdos para at the end, this midgame was sequenced wrong to begin with as Weavile + Lop should have been prioritized early game for Kart to clean better than they were. Objectively a rough matchup again, but my hax on Rotom made this artificially closer than it was and I felt I got fairly outplayed here regardless.

Week 3 vs Darkness 789 (W)

Another week, another Diancie (noticing a theme?) which by this point was something I fully expected to load into. I wasn’t sure exactly what type of offensive structure they were putting Diancie on but I ended up getting the Ox the Fox hail build. I elected to load this rain build featuring all three of Mega Swampert, Specs Ash Greninja and Normalium-Z Azumarill to give me a ton of priority, speed control and some options to break down BO plus have speed and priority for offense. I had loaded this build against Kate in a money tour a while ago and felt confident in this particular version of Rain, plus I wanted to have a solid showing after not playing as well as I would have liked the prior week.

The game itself required some tricky sequencing around SD Z Lando which was pretty threatening at preview, so the goal was always to win this with Ash Gren while keeping enough rain turns + prio in the back for Diancie and Zolt. I believe the end game was sequenced correctly by both sides, don’t think the flinch mattered at the end if it was the original unedited paste since U-turn crit could not kill from Corv and Iron Head does nothing.

Week 4 vs Yonmd (W)

This game was highlighted already by Iride, but from my perspective, yonmd’s scout showed a very low usage of Darks (and no Ttar), with mostly balance oriented structures we felt we could overwhelm with HO and particularly psyspam. I’ve brought this type of psyspam build on a few prior occasions but I personally feel (and others may say differently) that Corv is super helpful on these builds to patch up weaknesses to Rillaboom, Urshifu Rapid, SD Chomp and Weavile, which are some of the main super-threats vs psyspam, including some others. Psychium Volc is broken if you don’t load into Heatran or the blobs, and the rest is fairly standard psyspam tec to allow Polteageist and/or Chomp to sweep.

This type of team requires the user to position very aggressively as it won’t be a long game. I feel I played the early and mid game extremely well to get the most value out of Poltea, deny Ferro getting up rocks, and then safely position in Volcarona to decimate most of his team. I would agree he sequenced terrain turns correctly and the only question was whether it was statistically more likely for me to win with Mega Chomp at the end or Poltea giga drain → sac Chomp to remove -1 def drop → second giga drain for game. I think I had greater odds with the path I chose, but it was a close one nonetheless.

Week 5 vs Kustavan (L)

Going into this game, I was fairly sure I was getting stalled or hit with some type of fat team given the opponent's success with those teams plus their managers. This was a relatively more intensive prep week than the prior three and I eventually settled on a structure that I think both kdca/isza had previously popularized at various points in past tours. We settled on a Shifu + Fsight + Pursuit core which should be able to dismantle most fat teams with proper play in the long term, and volt-turn support from Zapdos and Corv to facilitate it. I was admittedly concerned that this team is still quite weak to Diancie as Corv isn't SpDef EV'd enough to stomach the hits, but we weren’t expecting this specific opponent to load Diancie against me again and we didn’t want to over-optimize for one mon.

As for the game itself, I was pretty disappointed with the RNG I got but that’s the game we play. As it was, I had no real defensive counterplay for both CB Ttar Crunch + Z Lele, so I already had limited margin for error to dance around those with the tools I did have. Ttar para into crit was extremely unfortunate but I felt I was still in a solid position once I got rid of Ferrothorn for urshifu to clean and then outplayed opposing Excadrill. Urshifu getting immediately para’d ended the game which was otherwise still very winnable at that point, not much else I could have done here but wp to Kustavan.

Week 6 vs Devin (L)

I agreed to try and get this game played under less than ideal circumstances for me personally instead of taking act purely out of respect for my opponent. There is nothing to analyze or reflect on in a constructive way here, I never regret playing but should have handled this differently. Definitely the most frustrated I have been in a while in a tour setting but also something I will learn from.

Week 7 vs Hiro802223001 (L)

Another week in which I spent most of the week testing and preparing to play one opponent (Abele), but ultimately had to adjust on the fly for another one with a very limited scout from any prior tours. Since I had very limited time to test and scout, I pivoted to an older team made by Isza that was familiar to me (to makeup for lack of tests) and that would let me offensively pressure the few different balance/BO team structures I could find. Diancie has been on a meteoric rise in SS and combined with Z Gren + Volc I assumed I had enough firepower to beat a standard balance structure.

On the game itself, SD Boots Weavile is an absolute menace to the team and was always going to be an issue as it outspeeds and kills nearly the entire team. Pwhip miss from Ferro against Slowbro early on meant I lost too much health early, and this opened Weavile up fully to win this endgame. Putting aside matchup and the miss though, I do think I got fairly outplayed in terms of some of the other critical sequences with Diancie and Gren getting out-pivoted, even if I was probably losing this to SD Vile anyway, and the endgame required me winning more 50/50 plays than was realistic to expect, so credit to the opponent for their superior play in this one.

Semifinal Playoffs vs Kayzn (W)

Going into this semifinals game against Kayzn, I knew I was playing not only a friend, but also one of the strongest active players at the moment that had recently beaten me in a narrow NDLT series for SV. I knew I needed a structure I was fully confident in if I wanted a realistic shot at winning this round. I had not played Kayzn in SS prior to this game and studied as many replays of his gameplay as I could for this round, coupled with my assumptions about what type of builds he would be given and the holes in my self-scout I needed to be aware of. Boomer and I decided on running some type of build featuring Toxic Spikes + Ditto, but given how comfortable I was with charmflash=style fats and how well it fit what we were looking to take advantage of in his scout, we went with an edited version of the team above. This version has Sub Stored Power Mega Latias instead of the usual Shock + Beam/Sphere coverage, and we changed Chansey to Blissey given the offensive options he had been using and the team’s overall weakness to spikes/hazards without a fogger.

I felt I executed the gameplan nearly perfectly from start to finish in this game, probably due to how focused I was going into the game and the level of respect I had for my opponent. The thought process was to get up spikes early and trade hazards (realizing later that this was even more effective due to him lacking any removal as well), mitigate SD Chomp from ripping apart the team with Ditto positioning and constant hazard chip due to my lack of Ice Beam on Lati, and then preserve enough of Ditto’s remaining health to either win outright with his copied and +2 boosted Lele (missed a close roll) or take my chances with Lati as the end-game cleaner. Another very close finish here and overall a high level game on both sides – felt both sides had some matchup woes but it probably favored me 60/40 here solely due to his lack of hazard removal posing a greater long term issue for him than SD Chomp/Diancie posed to me by comparison.

Finals vs One Last Kiss (W)

Final game against OLK. Super high level player known in the greater tournament community circles for various strong performances outside of this tier, in addition to having a strong showing during both this tournament and in NDWC leading up to this game. Even if it isn't mutual I do respect him a lot as a player and I went out of my way to try and arrange this matchup for the final game, so I was happy to play ths one regardless of the result.

It would take me too long to detail all of the prep I did for this game, but whereas I felt Kayzn would try and bring heavy anti-offense tools like CM LO Lele + Shifu and try to overwhelm me that way, I knew some type of stall or defensive HO counter-style was coming my way in some form here. I played around initially with Hoopa + Urshifu + Future Sight like in prior weeks, but it proved a bit too difficult to flesh those structures out in a way that passed quality control for a finals-caliber game. Boomer was also concerned about OLK’s notable success and usage of Demon Mew in the prior weeks, and we were trying very hard in prep to figure out how to check the combination of Stored Power+Taunt and SP+Body press Mew without resorting to things like Mega Sableye or Alolan Muk. From here, we had planned to use CM Hatterene on Screens either with terrain support (electric seed + SP) or just screens support in general to block Taunt and resist anything Mew wanted to do. I do think Hatterene is a great choice on offense but each of the HO/Screens builds we considered had flaws and I didn’t want to load something I wasn’t fully confident in.

Ultimately, I had a few other options prepared but given the circumstances surrounding this game, I wanted to use my own Weakness Policy HO team which the oldheads of National Dex surely recognize from many years ago. The team is meant to be piloted extremely aggressively and is centered around brute forcing your way through opponents via screens support, immediately threatening boosting power from timely procs on the weakness policy boosts, and aggressive double switches to force trades. This isn't an RMT and this team will never be a sample, but the basic structure was originally Mew & Grimmsnarl for Hazards+Screens, Mega Mawile and DD Dragapult to dismantle most fat teams, and DD Necrozma + Stored Power abuser (Magearna or Latios) to force trades or significant chip onto opposing Darks, steels and other walls I needed softened for something else to sweep. DD Necrozma generally forces in and either chips or provides a telegraphed pivoting opportunity into everything that DD Pult (and now Blace) would be able to sub+DD on and usually win, hence the origin of those two as an offensive core. CM Blace is able to replicate this in most instances as it displayed very well in this game, though it has a worse matchup spread than Pult did. I made slight edits in the form of Moltres-G over Mew (due to very high Diancie usage against me and possible Sableye stall) and Taunt > Agility on G-Moltres due to the expectation of running into fat.

As for the game itself, I played aggressively enough and hit the right double switches at the right times to win, and it was anyone's game until the last turn. I want to specifically shout out Aso for recording this game and taking the time to narrate it and show the tour some support, which was a very unexpected and very much appreciated surprise. This is normally the part where I say thank you for reading my novel and see you at the next event. I have to be honest and say that it is a really disorienting feeling to win both of your playoff games against top level competition and know you were a couple plays away by your teammates from holding six team tour rings, while also knowing that you were a single recommendation away from likely not playing at all in this tournament and were picked to finish last or close to it by more than one of the teams. So I can't say for sure what comes next, but if my final performance in SS was a win in the finals of a team tour with my favorite and signature squad, I cannot have asked for more.

Week 1: mrfraud (W)

I was expecting some nice BO type team that is something I would bring, since I think me and mrfraud have similar styles. I liked the look of Azelf vs his offensive stuff and built this, but the team seemed way too frail. I realized that Azelf was lowkey droppable and made this version. I then played a bunch of tests and realized that the defensive core wasn't good enough for me to have consistent success. Dan suggested Pert + Shao > Shifu + Zygarde, and the changes had much more success in tests.

The game was basically won turn 1 but it's a cursed turn since I didn't realize he could click Protect there. Obviously scary to do in front of an SD Bulu but I don't agree with dropping the Z in hindsight. I'm looking great in the first few turns, Nihilego basically wins on the spot but I fool around trying to make sure Scizor isn't able to randomly live Meteor Beam. I don't make any big misplays in the end and get the Nihi win. Definitely my shakiest game play wise, maybe outside of finals. Which I guess makes sense since those 2 were probably the highest pressure.

Week 2: R1C3M4N (W)

I liked the look of Hydreigon into a lot of his stuff, at the start of the tour rice was mostly reusing old teams. I thought maybe some of them would be from before Hydreigon dropped, so it was possible we'd load into something not prepped for drei. I brought Z Dragon because it was the newest drei set and therefore the least likely to be prepped for. I really wanted to be solid into HO here, even EVing my Hydreigon to live Mega Sharpedo Ice Fang after rocks. Slowking teleport into CB Diggersby was my Slowbro-Galar counterteam, but I also liked the idea of bringing a crazy breaker that nobody would expect from me.

This was definitely a good matchup. I caught the Salamence early which meant it was only a matter of time until Mienshao won with scarf CC. Managed to never sack a mon to Chandelure which was perfect, but I probably would have been ok even if it did predict right once or twice. This is probably the game I'm most proud of play wise, I pretty much got every big turn right.

Week 3: Mada (W)

Dan had the idea of Salamence being hard for their scout to deal with. I don't build HO but I just put all the beamers on a team with broken mega Sharpedo. It was bad into stuff like Zeraora though, so I put Mega Altaria instead. I ended up going Mental Herb on Azelf because there aren't really mons that both outspeed and OHKO Azelf, meaning the worst case for missing sash still has me getting up rocks. In hindsight red card might have been better here but I was worried about the HO mirror. I EV'd it to live Swampert Flip Turn into Mienshao U-turn because leading Swampert into rocks weak HO is too free. Loaded up a couple tests, lost them all, decided I would win with it in the real game.

I think this matchup was lowkey bad, double speed control where both are hard to kill for me. Zeraora also randomly has Play Rough for my Altaria, and there's double Steel when my whole team is supposed to overwhelm the Steel. Fortunately I get the Bisharp out early, which means Necrozma looks insane as long as I can get it to +1/+2. I sack Salamence and Celesteela to chip Aggron into a position for Necrozma to do so, pretty solid win. They should have probably used Aggron for Altaria/Salamence and saved Bisharp for Nihi + revenge killing Necrozma after chip. Easier said than done though, HO is kinda dumb sometimes.

Week 4: Iride (W)

I love this team so much. I have a lot of respect for Iride as a builder in this tier so this was the first week I was trying to build a team that was just generally solid rather than exploiting something in the scout. I spent the first 3 weeks getting owned by CB Scizor in tests so I decided to build with it this time. This was my first idea but I realized some of these mons suck and I didn't want to bring them! I then made a better version, but realized that I needed slow pivoting on here to bring the crazy breakers in. Landed on the final version with Swampert > Rhyperior based on that. I thought Iride would bring an Amoonguss into me so I ran both Firium Z Zeraora and DWB Scizor to lure it. I think this team absolutely needs at least 1 of them, but both may be overkill in other MUs. First week I actually won in tests which was worrying, I thought maybe if I just kept losing every week in tests I would also continue winning the real games??

I got a crazy good matchup, Hydreigon and Zeraora were both enough to basically insta win on their own. I didn't do anything special in game, was just a pretty easy win thanks to the mu.

Week 6: Jeoz (W)

I assumed Micaiah was building this week but before I even scouted I basically decided I was loading Azelf.

Notice that the other time I played a non mainer (Mada) I also brought Azelf.. Not a coincidence. I am a man of my word.

I decided I wanted to be good into fat/stally stuff since Micaiah used fat vs me in g3 of winners finals and I choked a 100% win against it. I liked specs Primarina, it's a good mon in general and seemed like a safe bring. I just brought all my comfort mons on the team, since I was against an opp who doesn't play too much uu I just wanted stuff I'd be consistent with.

I load into Vileplume + Mantine?? There's an Altaria too so I guess they just Really Hate Urshifu. Everything is slower than Prim and presumably the Vileplume is Phys Def so it dies to Ice Beam. They're also 6-0'd by Roserade and their Mantine is walled by Bisharp. I get a crit on their Hippo which results in them sacking Bisharp to Primarina after, which is nice. I think I won anyway as long as I played well but Bisharp was a threat and I was grateful to not have to deal with it.

Week 7: Mik3mon (W)

Was looking forwards to the dunoks game but unfortunately he disappeared. Had a few half-baked ideas I was working on by the time it became clear we weren't gonna play, but I was prob gonna bring a refined version of this. Once the sub happened I didn't have too much time to prep or really anything to go off of. I was expecting Ryuji prep which I didn't really know much about. I kept in mind older NDUU ideas since I thought Ryuji might not be too up to date. I also notably considered Shark HO stuff since Ryuji's team was the one that popularized it in NDPL.

I decided I was gonna bring a team I felt was just super good into most things and that I felt I could outplay any mu in. I was between the team from the Iride week and my Urshifu Roserade sample, ended up going with the Iride one because samples are too visible for my liking. I just made it Flash Cannon > Defog on Hydreigon because I thought older NDUU tendencies might result in Mega Altaria coming.

My earlier hunch turned out to be right and I loaded into the Lydia Shark HO. Got a lucky flinch turn 1 that denied rocks but I was probably winning this either way. CB Scizor + Zeraora + Hydreigon is a lot for them to overcome. They changed the sets to Z Dnite + Sash Polt instead of Boots Dnite + Z Polt, which I think makes the team a lot worse since if I just got up rocks half their team became almost useless. The whole point of lead Swampert is that you're ok with rocks going up so this was a strange decision in my opinion. It worked out because I chose not to get up rocks because I assumed it would be the normal sets. I guess that's on me..

Semifinal: Iride (W)

Deranged prep week. I expected Iride to bring powerful offensive mons bc last time she brought a bunch of lame passive guys and got bowled over by BU Zera + Specs Hydreigon. I considered the Urshifu Roserade team again this week, which I still think was a decent bring. I really liked Aegislash and Urshifu this week. I was convinced that Primarina had to come because there was no other way to not get run over by Hydreigon again. I also thought some sort of classic Iride Cobalion stuff was likely. Honestly I basically expected this Iride team from the previous week, but I didn't see that it was brought literally 1 week ago until later. I'll just dump all the stupid half-baked builds I came up with this week here:

Anyway the team I loaded into was nothing like what I expected, I didn't like this matchup but I couldn't really tell the sets off preview. I assumed it would be either rocks nihi band shifu scarf krook or mbeam nihi scarf shifu rocks krook. Turned out it was none of the above rocks nihi scarf shifu CB Krookodile. I think I played pretty decently here. The fact that the Krook wasn't a set that helped it vs Zeraora meant their team had no Zera check?? So I won with Zera. Wacky game tbh but good to win vs a strong opponent.

Final: R1C3M4N (W)

Once again I thought I was gonna see a Primarina since rice also thinks Hydreigon is broken so I expected him to give it a lot of respect. All the way back in money tour I prepped BU Zarude for this matchup, but we both lost in the round robin before playing each other so the prep never got used. During prep for our week 2 matchup I rebuilt an old team I had in my builder which became this. Primarina had an insane mu into the scout so I had this team in mind as an option. I was also thinking a CB Dnite would prob cook, and it was a way to lure the likely Primarina with Thunder Punch. I was looking at something like this. The other idea I had this week was maybe even more crazy: specs roserade. Dazzling Gleam lets it lure possible Hydreigon, and HP Ground OHKOs the usually safe Slowbro-Galar. Rose seemed quite funny into the scout and I thought it might catch him off guard. Unfortunately after playing tests I realized that these cheese teams were in fact cheese and not very good. I tried to refine the CB Dnite into this but it still wasn't good and so I went back to the old BU Zarude squad.

MU was fine, BU Zarude was an excellent bring but Urshifu and especially Moltres were gonna be hard to deal with long term. I get a silly crit on Slowking turn 1 which kinda ruins this game's value to me. I do think I wasn't much worse off without the crit, because I would get to double out to keep Primarina on full HP and then claim with it later. After this start BU Zarude should prob just insta win but I get scared of the atk invested Klefki and don't set up on it. I eventually realize that I have to set up on Klefki and get to +2/+2, thinking Moltres will die bc it did 252 spatk damage to Zeraora earlier. This was a big choke because Moltres was bulk invested modest so it lives my +2 Lariat, and I end up having to go for a Flamethrower burn (or 3 intimidates) on Hippo to let Nidoqueen 1v1 it. I get the burn 2nd try and win the game.

Overall I am obviously very happy with how this tournament went for me, hard to do better than 8-0. As a team we were ranked dead last in power rankings, and after week 5 we were fresh off getting stomped and solidly out of a playoff spot. I'm super proud of my team for clutching up from there by winning the last 2 weeks to qualify for poffs, and then keeping up the momentum vs a strong gliscors squad. We got all the way to a 3-1 lead in finals but unfortunately couldn't close it out. Our whole team had great vibes the whole way through and I'm certain that if it weren't for that we would have collapsed after week 5.

Boomenheimer goat bossman. I loved the vibe you installed in our team cord off rip and it was great working with you. You put an incredible amount of work into the ou slots each week. I couldn't ask for anything more from a manager, thanks for everything.

Danbear02 It was a privilege to be drafted into UU with someone who is already a perfectly competent UU player supporting me. Whenever I got stuck on certain ideas in the builder you were able to help me find a better path, and all the test games were invaluable to my success. There were situations I probably should have listened to you even more, but I'm gonna act like everything we did in UU was flawless because I didn't lose so it must have been.

We named this Danbear team threat spam because it's literally washtom + 5 threats?? And this mf brought it first test every single week. I probably won like 2 games total vs the god squad. Unfortunately most of the logs are lost to unsaved ps replays but I had a blast getting farmed by this guy.

Apart from helping my individual slot, you were clutch af filling in as the AG player for us, terrifying tier to play imo and you weren't planning on having to do it. Also grinded out supporting random tiers you didn't have as much previous knowledge about, very grateful for all the work you put into our team. You and boomer combined to form the perfect supporting cast (except for doubles) (nobody knows doubles).

Lameflame You have by far the most nd teamtour experience on our team, but I noticed you were still always one of the first to celebrate any of our teammate's successes. Hunting out the difficult matchups and then grinding out prep is thankless work and you were always happy to do it for the benefit of our team. Your (still solid) record doesn't do justice to your flawless playoff performance and I am grateful to have had an opportunity to team with you.

HoodedZack This guy just aurafarmed for the whole tour and almost got away with it.. So many week saving/clinching performances. Your games were always great to watch, and I always trusted that if there was a winpath, you were the guy to find it.

Oculars It's crazy that you've gone from #1 adem roomchat opp to strong ndpl player. You were a great presence even when you were losing, and your performance after the canon event was huge for our team's turnaround. You and I both know they can't beat you without ditto...

LORD SAGIS Your situation was pretty brutal, thrown into the slot without much warmup and ending up having to load stuff you weren't comfortable with vs super strong opponents. You handled the situation well and I appreciate all the ideas you contributed to my UU prep. Even when I didn't bring the mons you suggested, they were always good ideas and I probably should have made use of a certain one (0 Urshifu uses is criminal from me).

db My RU goat. Your tournament was one of tight margins and unfortunately they often didn't go your way, but your prep and play were both excellent most weeks. You were a big part of our run towards the end, we never won a week without a win from you. You and I were always talking about random bs in people's channels so sorry to everyone else for that, but it was good chatting with you.

Dorron I know you were down on yourself due to your playoff results but your influence on our team was the only reason we stayed alive. Every one of your regular season wins was needed for us to qualify to playoffs, and you went undefeated. Mono seems like an impossible tier to be consistent in, and the only time I've been remotely convinced otherwise was when I was watching you win disadvantaged matchups week after week.

Seo. I mentioned this in the cord already but the fact that you were ok with being stuck behind Dorron's pop off was huge for our team's success. You put in work every week to help with prep, and you were always active with the team in supporting everyone during their games and keeping the vibes up. It was a pleasure to interact with you.

eragon I knew nothing about DOU going into this tournament and despite your rough tournament, I really enjoyed what I was able to learn from watching you play. You were always looking to take responsibility for your losses even when it seemed like you played great and it was out of your control. I always believed you would win and if you were to play another DOU game for us, I'd still believe you would win.

shadekirby321 Everyone knows that eragon is good at doubles but they don't know that this guy is the goat too. You only played 4 weeks and I think you had the 2 most hype wins of our whole team's entire season. Even when you weren't playing you were grinding tests to work on teams for eragon to use. This goes to eragon too, but I loved the belief each of you had in each other. You guys formed a wonderful DOU duo, and your collective expertise was very much needed given everyone else's lack thereof.

Week 1: mrfraud (W)

I was expecting some nice BO type team that is something I would bring, since I think me and mrfraud have similar styles. I liked the look of Azelf vs his offensive stuff and built this, but the team seemed way too frail. I realized that Azelf was lowkey droppable and made this version. I then played a bunch of tests and realized that the defensive core wasn't good enough for me to have consistent success. Dan suggested Pert + Shao > Shifu + Zygarde, and the changes had much more success in tests.

The game was basically won turn 1 but it's a cursed turn since I didn't realize he could click Protect there. Obviously scary to do in front of an SD Bulu but I don't agree with dropping the Z in hindsight. I'm looking great in the first few turns, Nihilego basically wins on the spot but I fool around trying to make sure Scizor isn't able to randomly live Meteor Beam. I don't make any big misplays in the end and get the Nihi win. Definitely my shakiest game play wise, maybe outside of finals. Which I guess makes sense since those 2 were probably the highest pressure.

Week 2: R1C3M4N (W)

I liked the look of Hydreigon into a lot of his stuff, at the start of the tour rice was mostly reusing old teams. I thought maybe some of them would be from before Hydreigon dropped, so it was possible we'd load into something not prepped for drei. I brought Z Dragon because it was the newest drei set and therefore the least likely to be prepped for. I really wanted to be solid into HO here, even EVing my Hydreigon to live Mega Sharpedo Ice Fang after rocks. Slowking teleport into CB Diggersby was my Slowbro-Galar counterteam, but I also liked the idea of bringing a crazy breaker that nobody would expect from me.

This was definitely a good matchup. I caught the Salamence early which meant it was only a matter of time until Mienshao won with scarf CC. Managed to never sack a mon to Chandelure which was perfect, but I probably would have been ok even if it did predict right once or twice. This is probably the game I'm most proud of play wise, I pretty much got every big turn right.

Week 3: Mada (W)

Dan had the idea of Salamence being hard for their scout to deal with. I don't build HO but I just put all the beamers on a team with broken mega Sharpedo. It was bad into stuff like Zeraora though, so I put Mega Altaria instead. I ended up going Mental Herb on Azelf because there aren't really mons that both outspeed and OHKO Azelf, meaning the worst case for missing sash still has me getting up rocks. In hindsight red card might have been better here but I was worried about the HO mirror. I EV'd it to live Swampert Flip Turn into Mienshao U-turn because leading Swampert into rocks weak HO is too free. Loaded up a couple tests, lost them all, decided I would win with it in the real game.

I think this matchup was lowkey bad, double speed control where both are hard to kill for me. Zeraora also randomly has Play Rough for my Altaria, and there's double Steel when my whole team is supposed to overwhelm the Steel. Fortunately I get the Bisharp out early, which means Necrozma looks insane as long as I can get it to +1/+2. I sack Salamence and Celesteela to chip Aggron into a position for Necrozma to do so, pretty solid win. They should have probably used Aggron for Altaria/Salamence and saved Bisharp for Nihi + revenge killing Necrozma after chip. Easier said than done though, HO is kinda dumb sometimes.

Week 4: Iride (W)

I love this team so much. I have a lot of respect for Iride as a builder in this tier so this was the first week I was trying to build a team that was just generally solid rather than exploiting something in the scout. I spent the first 3 weeks getting owned by CB Scizor in tests so I decided to build with it this time. This was my first idea but I realized some of these mons suck and I didn't want to bring them! I then made a better version, but realized that I needed slow pivoting on here to bring the crazy breakers in. Landed on the final version with Swampert > Rhyperior based on that. I thought Iride would bring an Amoonguss into me so I ran both Firium Z Zeraora and DWB Scizor to lure it. I think this team absolutely needs at least 1 of them, but both may be overkill in other MUs. First week I actually won in tests which was worrying, I thought maybe if I just kept losing every week in tests I would also continue winning the real games??

I got a crazy good matchup, Hydreigon and Zeraora were both enough to basically insta win on their own. I didn't do anything special in game, was just a pretty easy win thanks to the mu.

Week 6: Jeoz (W)

I assumed Micaiah was building this week but before I even scouted I basically decided I was loading Azelf.

Notice that the other time I played a non mainer (Mada) I also brought Azelf.. Not a coincidence. I am a man of my word.

I decided I wanted to be good into fat/stally stuff since Micaiah used fat vs me in g3 of winners finals and I choked a 100% win against it. I liked specs Primarina, it's a good mon in general and seemed like a safe bring. I just brought all my comfort mons on the team, since I was against an opp who doesn't play too much uu I just wanted stuff I'd be consistent with.

I load into Vileplume + Mantine?? There's an Altaria too so I guess they just Really Hate Urshifu. Everything is slower than Prim and presumably the Vileplume is Phys Def so it dies to Ice Beam. They're also 6-0'd by Roserade and their Mantine is walled by Bisharp. I get a crit on their Hippo which results in them sacking Bisharp to Primarina after, which is nice. I think I won anyway as long as I played well but Bisharp was a threat and I was grateful to not have to deal with it.

Week 7: Mik3mon (W)

Was looking forwards to the dunoks game but unfortunately he disappeared. Had a few half-baked ideas I was working on by the time it became clear we weren't gonna play, but I was prob gonna bring a refined version of this. Once the sub happened I didn't have too much time to prep or really anything to go off of. I was expecting Ryuji prep which I didn't really know much about. I kept in mind older NDUU ideas since I thought Ryuji might not be too up to date. I also notably considered Shark HO stuff since Ryuji's team was the one that popularized it in NDPL.

I decided I was gonna bring a team I felt was just super good into most things and that I felt I could outplay any mu in. I was between the team from the Iride week and my Urshifu Roserade sample, ended up going with the Iride one because samples are too visible for my liking. I just made it Flash Cannon > Defog on Hydreigon because I thought older NDUU tendencies might result in Mega Altaria coming.

My earlier hunch turned out to be right and I loaded into the Lydia Shark HO. Got a lucky flinch turn 1 that denied rocks but I was probably winning this either way. CB Scizor + Zeraora + Hydreigon is a lot for them to overcome. They changed the sets to Z Dnite + Sash Polt instead of Boots Dnite + Z Polt, which I think makes the team a lot worse since if I just got up rocks half their team became almost useless. The whole point of lead Swampert is that you're ok with rocks going up so this was a strange decision in my opinion. It worked out because I chose not to get up rocks because I assumed it would be the normal sets. I guess that's on me..

Semifinal: Iride (W)

Deranged prep week. I expected Iride to bring powerful offensive mons bc last time she brought a bunch of lame passive guys and got bowled over by BU Zera + Specs Hydreigon. I considered the Urshifu Roserade team again this week, which I still think was a decent bring. I really liked Aegislash and Urshifu this week. I was convinced that Primarina had to come because there was no other way to not get run over by Hydreigon again. I also thought some sort of classic Iride Cobalion stuff was likely. Honestly I basically expected this Iride team from the previous week, but I didn't see that it was brought literally 1 week ago until later. I'll just dump all the stupid half-baked builds I came up with this week here:

Anyway the team I loaded into was nothing like what I expected, I didn't like this matchup but I couldn't really tell the sets off preview. I assumed it would be either rocks nihi band shifu scarf krook or mbeam nihi scarf shifu rocks krook. Turned out it was none of the above rocks nihi scarf shifu CB Krookodile. I think I played pretty decently here. The fact that the Krook wasn't a set that helped it vs Zeraora meant their team had no Zera check?? So I won with Zera. Wacky game tbh but good to win vs a strong opponent.

Final: R1C3M4N (W)

Once again I thought I was gonna see a Primarina since rice also thinks Hydreigon is broken so I expected him to give it a lot of respect. All the way back in money tour I prepped BU Zarude for this matchup, but we both lost in the round robin before playing each other so the prep never got used. During prep for our week 2 matchup I rebuilt an old team I had in my builder which became this. Primarina had an insane mu into the scout so I had this team in mind as an option. I was also thinking a CB Dnite would prob cook, and it was a way to lure the likely Primarina with Thunder Punch. I was looking at something like this. The other idea I had this week was maybe even more crazy: specs roserade. Dazzling Gleam lets it lure possible Hydreigon, and HP Ground OHKOs the usually safe Slowbro-Galar. Rose seemed quite funny into the scout and I thought it might catch him off guard. Unfortunately after playing tests I realized that these cheese teams were in fact cheese and not very good. I tried to refine the CB Dnite into this but it still wasn't good and so I went back to the old BU Zarude squad.

MU was fine, BU Zarude was an excellent bring but Urshifu and especially Moltres were gonna be hard to deal with long term. I get a silly crit on Slowking turn 1 which kinda ruins this game's value to me. I do think I wasn't much worse off without the crit, because I would get to double out to keep Primarina on full HP and then claim with it later. After this start BU Zarude should prob just insta win but I get scared of the atk invested Klefki and don't set up on it. I eventually realize that I have to set up on Klefki and get to +2/+2, thinking Moltres will die bc it did 252 spatk damage to Zeraora earlier. This was a big choke because Moltres was bulk invested modest so it lives my +2 Lariat, and I end up having to go for a Flamethrower burn (or 3 intimidates) on Hippo to let Nidoqueen 1v1 it. I get the burn 2nd try and win the game.

Overall I am obviously very happy with how this tournament went for me, hard to do better than 8-0. As a team we were ranked dead last in power rankings, and after week 5 we were fresh off getting stomped and solidly out of a playoff spot. I'm super proud of my team for clutching up from there by winning the last 2 weeks to qualify for poffs, and then keeping up the momentum vs a strong gliscors squad. We got all the way to a 3-1 lead in finals but unfortunately couldn't close it out. Our whole team had great vibes the whole way through and I'm certain that if it weren't for that we would have collapsed after week 5.

Boomenheimer goat bossman. I loved the vibe you installed in our team cord off rip and it was great working with you. You put an incredible amount of work into the ou slots each week. I couldn't ask for anything more from a manager, thanks for everything.

Danbear02 It was a privilege to be drafted into UU with someone who is already a perfectly competent UU player supporting me. Whenever I got stuck on certain ideas in the builder you were able to help me find a better path, and all the test games were invaluable to my success. There were situations I probably should have listened to you even more, but I'm gonna act like everything we did in UU was flawless because I didn't lose so it must have been.

We named this Danbear team threat spam because it's literally washtom + 5 threats?? And this mf brought it first test every single week. I probably won like 2 games total vs the god squad. Unfortunately most of the logs are lost to unsaved ps replays but I had a blast getting farmed by this guy.

Apart from helping my individual slot, you were clutch af filling in as the AG player for us, terrifying tier to play imo and you weren't planning on having to do it. Also grinded out supporting random tiers you didn't have as much previous knowledge about, very grateful for all the work you put into our team. You and boomer combined to form the perfect supporting cast (except for doubles) (nobody knows doubles).

Lameflame You have by far the most nd teamtour experience on our team, but I noticed you were still always one of the first to celebrate any of our teammate's successes. Hunting out the difficult matchups and then grinding out prep is thankless work and you were always happy to do it for the benefit of our team. Your (still solid) record doesn't do justice to your flawless playoff performance and I am grateful to have had an opportunity to team with you.

HoodedZack This guy just aurafarmed for the whole tour and almost got away with it.. So many week saving/clinching performances. Your games were always great to watch, and I always trusted that if there was a winpath, you were the guy to find it.

Oculars It's crazy that you've gone from #1 adem roomchat opp to strong ndpl player. You were a great presence even when you were losing, and your performance after the canon event was huge for our team's turnaround. You and I both know they can't beat you without ditto...

LORD SAGIS Your situation was pretty brutal, thrown into the slot without much warmup and ending up having to load stuff you weren't comfortable with vs super strong opponents. You handled the situation well and I appreciate all the ideas you contributed to my UU prep. Even when I didn't bring the mons you suggested, they were always good ideas and I probably should have made use of a certain one (0 Urshifu uses is criminal from me).

db My RU goat. Your tournament was one of tight margins and unfortunately they often didn't go your way, but your prep and play were both excellent most weeks. You were a big part of our run towards the end, we never won a week without a win from you. You and I were always talking about random bs in people's channels so sorry to everyone else for that, but it was good chatting with you.

Dorron I know you were down on yourself due to your playoff results but your influence on our team was the only reason we stayed alive. Every one of your regular season wins was needed for us to qualify to playoffs, and you went undefeated. Mono seems like an impossible tier to be consistent in, and the only time I've been remotely convinced otherwise was when I was watching you win disadvantaged matchups week after week.

Seo. I mentioned this in the cord already but the fact that you were ok with being stuck behind Dorron's pop off was huge for our team's success. You put in work every week to help with prep, and you were always active with the team in supporting everyone during their games and keeping the vibes up. It was a pleasure to interact with you.

eragon I knew nothing about DOU going into this tournament and despite your rough tournament, I really enjoyed what I was able to learn from watching you play. You were always looking to take responsibility for your losses even when it seemed like you played great and it was out of your control. I always believed you would win and if you were to play another DOU game for us, I'd still believe you would win.

shadekirby321 Everyone knows that eragon is good at doubles but they don't know that this guy is the goat too. You only played 4 weeks and I think you had the 2 most hype wins of our whole team's entire season. Even when you weren't playing you were grinding tests to work on teams for eragon to use. This goes to eragon too, but I loved the belief each of you had in each other. You guys formed a wonderful DOU duo, and your collective expertise was very much needed given everyone else's lack thereof.

I went 1-3 this tour, 3 of these said losses were in ou. However I still want to post the teams I used there since I thought they were cool, the first 2 are Molly cooks but the 3rd is just a generally standard team.

Week 3 vs. Chansey and Lulu

Chansey and lulu is a good player that I really wanted to beat after they kicked my ass in some ou Indiv and had an incredible string of teamtour runs. Molly noted that scale shot chomp looked good into their primarily bo / offense oriented scout at the time, so we experimented a little with it trying out different ideas with it like Roseli berry, ground z, sub, I think yache berry too? But rock z helped give me more options to break certain defensive cores so we settled on that. The rest of the team is well in my comfort zone as well; it looks like a bo you’d see in sv nd with the core of chomp + lele + ferro + Zapdos, except this team has a more offensive and aggressive approach to that core. With a Diancie and cm Lorb lele offensive core, there were multiple outs vs a potential fat team Ezra could’ve passed lulu. In terms of the actual game, I think I played well but I was an idiot and unnecessarily risked 2 focus blasts when I didn’t need to in the last 2 turns. Something to learn from I guess.

Week 5 vs. tempo di anguria

This week I was inspired by some fat builds I had seen in stour playoffs and wanted to give a go at fat myself. Molly suggested Reuniclus since a lot of what tempo loaded was a bo-angle that Reuniclus could generally exploit. Wincon spam fat was what the team eventually ended up becoming and the team did well in testing against similar structures that tempo had liked. The game itself was a little rough; in hindsight I should’ve probably gotten up tspike as early as possible, probably on lead since Zapdos looked really good to lead into me and that’s the perfect opportunity for pex to tspike, but even then the matchup is still very tough as band ttar + exca just rips apart my defensive / progress-making core. It doesn’t help that my sd Gliscor got burnt turn 0; I wanted to get pheal recovery as soon as possible and I was expecting a volt switch coming into my ferro but that didn’t happen lol.

Week 6 vs. gray

I got subbed in last minute and didn’t really have time to prep so I just wanted to roll with a comfort option. This is one of my favorite balance structures to use in both ssnd and oras ou and it was something I felt comfortable using. However the game went poorly as I had a rough time vs. cm latias with this team. It didn’t help that the opponent had an unaware Clefable that stopped all my attempts at getting rid of the latias with sd Gliscor and Lopunny. Honestly not the most well played game for me either way but not the most kind things to play against with this.

So, what’s the point of this post if I just posted the teams I lost with? Yeah this tour was a big KEKCHUNGUS in terms of my performance, but it was a learning experience for me that I’ve taken as a way to improve myself. I kinda flopped in my play as it was incredibly sloppy and there’s no real excuse for that. I know I can play better as I’ve shown it before in other tours and hopefully I’m able to prove that one day to the nd community since my record in nd teamtours is… uhh… yeah! Not great. But hey, maybe I can redeem myself in NDPL. Who knows. Although my tour record in ND hasn’t been great despite my positions in the community, I know I will be able to become someone worth respecting in the nd sphere one day and who lives up to expectations of what I know I can do.

Want to give a shoutout to Mollymiltoast and sanguine , you two are great managers and it was nice working with you, sorry I couldn’t live up to expectations lol but the next time this tour rolls around hopefully we can team up again and I’ll help win it for y’all. Want to also shoutout Lameflame as he’s the person who not only got me into ssnd in the first place but also helped me run tests for this tour and ssnd last chance and helped me with his excellent advice despite being extremely busy; I greatly appreciate that and take it to heart.

Anyways Zack is better and loaded it W1 vs Clawed Winter. He pulled it off with some freeze shenanigans but overall fun team. TLDR: Volcanion is trash hp fire AV prim is a god.

Analytic Starmie

I’m ngl I sent a bunch of pastes in Oculars’ channel and he rawdogged this one W1 vs Molly but I take responsibility for that bc I prob shouldn’t have posted it to begin with lol. Anyways, Analytic Starmie’s unresisted coverage and speed tier make it a pretty cool threat. Didn’t get the W but wanted to put it on the radar.

Mchomp Psyspam HO

Me and Lameflame agreed on Psyspam early W4 vs yonmd and the Gliscors and this was what materialized. I don’t really remember the thought process other than thinking Psychium Volc would be a shiest load here. It ended up nuking a Pex and the game came down to a 50% roll on a Weavile Ice Shard but we came away with the W.

This was a funny option I built for Lameflame during finals. I liked the combination of our mascot outspeeding all the fat psychics + AV hatterene as a way to keep OLK's mew at bay since he had sauced with it for the two weeks prior.

Again OLK's Mew was living rent-free in my head so I built this Hatterene heat to own it. CM Hatterene is threatening enough - but put it behind screens with an Electric Seed and this thing has infinite bulk.

When Molly first pitched this tour to me I was skeptical that we would be able to gather enough interest in it. The prize pool certainly helped but I was definitely impressed with the turnout. Really glad we followed through with it and we definitely plan on doing this again next year.

While certain trends tend to take off during PLs I feel like there wasn't a whole lot of that in this tour which makes sense to me. SS NDOU is an established and stable metagame and I wouldn't expect much innovation or change. I saw that a lot in my own experience managing where I was happy to rely on old and established builds. But that perspective might be skewed by the fact I was supporting 3 slots myself this time around and didn't feel like building for every single one each week. Either way I do want to give a special shout out to One Last Kiss for the creative Taunt Demon Mew set they brought in Week 7 and Semis (which I think Runo mentioned was from an old Chris team). It gave me a lot of grief trying to prep for that during Finals week and despite not loading it, the set put the fear of 2021 Deo-D into me with the added caveats that this thing could pack insane damage output with Stored Power and could also punish a fast Toxic from the likes of MLop or Koko.

Anyways, fun tour and love that we were able to put it together. Mollymiltoast thank you for being the driver of this initiative.

It was an absolute blast teaming with each and every one of you. From dead last in the PRs to being just two wins away from taking it all — the finale was heartbreaking, but I’m so grateful we made it this far. As first-time managers, Dan and I went into this just hoping to make playoffs, and we definitely exceeded expectations. Though we drew the first four weeks, it was clear from the start that this team had talent — we just needed time to refine.

Despite the misplays, the hax, and the ups and downs, you all remained resilient and rallied us to the finals. Take a moment to acknowledge the level of play and perseverance you displayed throughout the tour. You overcame plenty of adversity, and that speaks volumes.

I’ve known of you for years, but this was our first time really interacting. I remember reading your POTW interview a while back where you shouted me out even though we’d never spoken — I always thought that was really cool of you. Your success in team tours is no secret, and while I wish we could’ve added a win here to your resume, I’m still grateful we finally teamed up. You're probably my favorite player to build with in all my time playing ND. Our styles may not align perfectly, but your metagame knowledge, openness to ideas, and attitude in the teamcord made me a huge fan. Thank you for consistently showing up and putting forth your best.

We never talked about this in the teamcord, but I’ve played you on ladder more times than I can count — and I cherished every time I beat your crackhead playing/building ass. Before the tour, Dan kept hyping you up, and based on all the times you cheesed me on ladder, I knew firsthand how incredible you were. You were one of our top priorities going into the draft, and we’re so glad we got you.

Our styles were in sync — yours being a bit more unhinged — but I loved working with that. Your creativity in the builder was a huge asset, and your gameplay was consistently stellar. Thank you for your hard work this season. I know this is just the beginning...

Glad we finally got to team after all this time, bro. Even though you brought a Limber Ditto in that AG game vs Kate, you had a solid season rallying back after an 0-3 start. I’m glad you trusted my teams — it paid off with a nice little streak toward the end. You’re a versatile player, and Dan was especially high on you because of how chaotic your scouting is (turning every week into a coinflip, lol). I’m confident it would’ve been 9-0 if you were around every week. Your prep and play were elite, and on top of that, you were a fantastic presence in the cord. I’ve known you for a while now through Noglastica, and I’m just glad we got to bond over this tour instead of LARPing as MG2 mains. I will always try to buy you in any tour I manage. Jk. I love you, man — I’ll never not want to team with you. I’ve got so much nostalgia and love for you, and I’ll never forget your 7-0 season in NDPL III. This was a bullshit tour for you, and I’m sorry it turned out that way, but it never once made me doubt you as a player. Your AG support for Dan was appreciated, and your RU effort was elite. The cord vibes were immaculate, as always. Even when I was malding last NDPL, you were by my side. You’ve been there every step of the way, and I’m forever grateful for that. I’m glad we finally made playoffs together.

You’re an outstanding player, and I’m really glad we got the chance to team. Your confidence lifted the team whenever we were down, and I especially appreciate how you anchored Mono while also supporting Derp in RU. Your impact on the Mafia can’t be overstated.

A combined thank you to both of y’all. Me and Dan were cackling after draft knowing we fleeced the both of you. Huge shoutout to EatFoods for putting Kunal on our radar — we felt like we had the best Doubles slot in the tour. You two carried hard, especially since we knew nothing about Doubles. We just spectated the chaos that was Guard Split Shuckle + Chansey stall and enjoyed every second. We didn’t contribute much teambuilding-wise, but we loved working with you. I know y’all said FUCK SV ND DOU and FUCK FLUTTER MANE, but if it gets banned, I’m backing up the Brinks truck to bring y’all back.

This all started when I was looking for a lower tiers player to manage with. I asked [REDACTED], but his Mega Sceptile obsession put me off. So I said fuck it and started exploring — and stumbled across the great Danbear02.

I don’t even know what a Grand Slam is, but your Smog said you won one and led NDUU or something — so I thought that was cool. I hit you up on Discord, probably sounding like a rando, but you were down to manage NDPL (if hosts gave us a shot). I was hyped but also nervous, because NDPL was months away and anything could’ve happened.

Then SSNDPL popped up and I thought: No way we don’t get a shot at managing this. You hadn’t really played SSND, so I figured this would be good practice — make playoffs and we’d look good for NDPL.

But man… Grand Slam Dan up close is a wild thing. You were in every channel, every day — contributing to builds, testing, playing, and carrying AG with Derp and Oculars’ support. Your experience, versatility, and activity were unmatched. I’m surprised you hadn’t managed before, but I have no doubt you’ll be one of the best managers this format will ever see. I’m just grateful I got to be your first co.

We’re carrying this franchise to victory — I know it. Thanks again for an incredible season. I can’t wait to run it back for NDPL, this time with Mr. Logan Icicle.
